This place truly made me love lifting, and I hope there is a day where I can return just to have the feeling this place gave me return.

I was in the water with my 8 & 11 year old children because I feel like it is the responsible thing to do when you take your children to a pool regardless of their swim capabilities. I allow my 11 year to attempt the test for fun. The lifeguard wanted them to swim the length of the pool which my children can do. However, the lifeguard would not pass my child because the swim stroke was not perfect. I have personally been a lifeguard, swim instructor, and swim team coach for over 20 years. My children know their strokes but I have not forced them to be on teams or swim long distance. Do I want them to, yes. But I have not forced it. My children have good strokes for more than half the pool distance but get tired toward the end and get sloppy but are not in danger. The strokes just don't look as nice as they did. Our children visit our neighborhood pool just about everyday in the summer and swim unassisted with no issues. It is winter and perhaps the kids are a little out of practice in the 4-5 months since it has been warm enough to attend the neighborhood pool but again, not in danger and swim fine. But not competitive swimmers. We were told that my daughter did not pass the test even though she could swim unassisted the length of the pool. So we just tried to enjoy our time in the pool and planned to try again another day. However, then the lifeguard reprimanded me multiple times because my 8 and 11 year old swimming children were outside of an arms length of distance from me. Again they swim on their own, and I am in the water with them if they need me. The swim test expectations are too high and I now understand why there were no other families there on a Saturday afternoon. The swim test expectations are too high and the lifeguards to strict on their arms length rule for families to enjoy this pool. Again, I have been a lifeguard, instructor, and swim coach for 20 years so I have a solid base of knowledge with which to make this assertion. I attempted to connect with YMCA on this via email. My email was forwarded to the Aquatics Director and I have not received any response. We are planning to cancel this membership as our children cannot go and enjoy the pool because the rules are too strict and I understand this industry better than most. With rules this strict, the lifeguard is really a waste of money as they basically don't allow children in the pool and only adults may swim. I would still love a response but If I do not get one, we will continue with cancelation. Good luck if you have children and planned to use this pool.

They need this extra earnings coming to stay in business." New class Supposed to be signature membership, now saying big increase $$$ in classes. Starts in May! Signature for a trial period than $$$. GTX format with a new name! Basically, Someone yelling at you on a pilates machine with music. Still better than competition, but you are really paying for it and soon it will just like them. SPIN is the only real core cardio that all ages can do and they cancel it. Poor quality "healthy food" cheese wiz on stale chips. 5 day old broiled chicken on premade salad from days before. Food $$$ & no outside food or drink allowed. Shakes taste a 5 on a scale of 1-10. After taste that keeps you from finishing the whole shake. Each shake $11- $15 Staff is nice, but limited in helping you. Price is set. Memberships very complicated. There really is no "you can go to any gym if you work aboard." each gym has specific benefits. If it doesn't match up boom not allowed. For example: NY has 14 gyms that do not allow you to go. Period! Membership offers a "all gyms" with hike up in $$$. So you pay extra for nothing. Look on line and it shows you how few gyms are interchangeable. Hot tubs need updating. Water is low so it hits you below chest with only 3 jets in the entire tub aimed at your back. Just like a motel would have.

This is probably one of the worst gyms I have ever been a member of…read more The facility is consistently unclean. There is often no soap available in the showers, the sauna and spa areas are filthy, paint is peeling throughout the facility, many of the machines are old and outdated, and the pool has not been properly heated for months. The pool was originally scheduled to be closed for maintenance from mid-March through April 16. However, as of May 29, it is still not fully operational. The heater remains broken, leaving the water uncomfortably cold. Throughout this process, members have repeatedly been told the issue would be fixed "tomorrow," "next week," "over the weekend," or "today." We were also told they were waiting to locate a pool heater repair specialist. Unfortunately, the promised timelines have continually come and gone without resolution, leaving many members frustrated and disappointed. After months of dealing with the pool issues, I began raising my concerns with management. The blonde manager who works the front desk during the late mornings was kind enough to refund my April membership dues due to the ongoing problems. However, when I requested a refund for May, I was told she had gotten into trouble for issuing too many refunds and could no longer assist me. At that point, I decided to cancel my membership. I do not believe anyone should have to continue paying for services that are not being properly provided. I contacted corporate, filed a formal complaint regarding the pool situation and refund request, and closed my account. I have since joined the YMCA and have been much happier with my experience. Until significant improvements are made to this location, I would strongly encourage others to consider alternative fitness facilities. Hopefully management will either invest in meaningful upgrades or take the necessary steps to address the many ongoing issues affecting members. What is most disappointing is that they were apparently willing to lose a paying customer rather than refund $39.00 for a service that has not been fully available for months. In the end, that decision cost them far more than a single refund--it cost them a member.

I'm not one to spend time at the gym, but they do offer yoga and other classes as well. Staff is friendly and the place is okay. Plenty of showers and a sauna, or a jacuzzi to relax in. You can bring your own lock and place your things into a locker as well. Huge parking lot outside. Looks like parents can drop off their kids at the kiddy area while excersizing. Nice! Check it out, but read the fine print first, otherwise they will bill you for ever. Years ago I had to help my neighbor to get out of the contract.
