The workouts target different parts of the body on different days. Sometimes it's a mix of free weights and calisthenics, sometimes it's all aerobic, but it keeps it interesting. Working out in a group also keeps you honest! The only downside is it's a little pricey compared to a lot of other gyms.

At the end of the 30 days they made an unauthorized charge on my card for $125.00. They acknowledge it was an error on their part. (I have an email to that effect)I spoke with owner (Mitch) who claims he is not sure they could cut a refund check. He indicated he would have to speak to the accountants and get back to me. After numerous emails and a conversation with staff member Frank they have chosen to go dark. I went to 4 classes coached by 4 different people. I went to classes coached by Q, Alysha, Brittany, and Ben. The studio in Bear is lovely and the coaches are nice (especially Q) but not extremely motivating during the class (compared to my coaches in Minnesota). I do have to give a shout out to the entire front desk team including Ashley and Stephanie who were extremely welcoming and friendly over those 4 days. Other notes, this location still has the older treadmills where if you're short (like me) it's hard to see over them. The rowers water tanks are filled quite high so rowing is more difficult than other studios I've been to. They have an enormous lobby area (lovely). I thought it was strange that it seemed normal for each OTF member to grab a wipe before starting class. I'm used to having the coaches bring wipes towards the end of the halfway mark (and ask if anyone needs a new one at the end of class) to everyone so it's still wet. Their iPad is used to check in and also pick a spot on in class...that's a new for me. Normally I just used the iPad to check in.

On [September 27, 2025 approximately 12pm], I entered the gym and politely asked to use the restroom. I identified myself as working in law enforcement and explained I only needed restroom access. The employee, identified as K, responded that she did not care who I was. Her tone and behavior were dismissive and unprofessional. I explained that I wanted to file a complaint about the interaction. I then spoke with one of the managers on duty, who was respectful and professional. He required me to sign a waiver to use the restroom and informed me that his manager would be contacting me on Monday. While I appreciated his professionalism, I believe the initial treatment I received from K was unacceptable and inconsistent with the customer service standards a company like Edge Fitness should uphold. To further test whether this was standard treatment across locations, I visited another Edge Fitness gym and asked to use the restroom. The young man at that location handled the situation properly--he took my credential and was preparing to walk me to the restroom. I stopped him and explained this was only a test to compare experiences. This confirmed for me that my first interaction with K was not reflective of Edge Fitness as a whole, but rather the unprofessional conduct of a single employee. I am requesting that this complaint be documented and reviewed. Employees who cannot treat people with basic professionalism and respect should not be representing your company. Thank you for your time and prompt attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from management regarding the steps taken to address this issue. Chris and Rob are hands on owners who have recently open their second location in Newark. The Bear location is a clean, friendly atmosphere with a polite staff and a training staff that keeps you moving. New equipment keeps the facility fresh. Always something going on and this year the month of may has been dedicated to outdoor boot camps on Saturdays. 45 minute workouts, outdoors. Then they teamed up with a local eatery to provide nourishment afterwards. Great idea to get the community involved. Great job team Bear....keep us happy and healthy.

As a result, I am now being billed for two memberships, and the only solution offered has been for me to spend even more money. What is most concerning is that the manager's notes regarding my situation were inaccurate and did not reflect what actually occurred. During my conversations with staff, it was acknowledged that there have been ongoing concerns and complaints regarding this manager's practices, and it appears my experience is not an isolated incident. While the organization recognized that mistakes were made, they have been unwilling to take meaningful steps to correct them. I understand that errors happen, but accountability and customer service should follow. Unfortunately, I have been left paying for a problem that was created by misinformation and poor management. I hope the company takes a closer look at these issues and works to improve how customers are treated when legitimate concerns are raised.

The staff is always young people mostly sitting around and socializing; no sign ever of any management or owner. The showers take my overall rating from 3 to 1. They are beyond disgusting, always. The walls are covered in flies, and when the water is running, the little worm larvae are washing out of the cracks in the tile and squirming on the floor. The showers are literally never cleaned properly. This place should be shut down by the health department.
