Chris and Rob are hands on owners who have recently open their second location in Newark. The Bear location is a clean, friendly atmosphere with a polite staff and a training staff that keeps you moving. New equipment keeps the facility fresh. Always something going on and this year the month of may has been dedicated to outdoor boot camps on Saturdays. 45 minute workouts, outdoors. Then they teamed up with a local eatery to provide nourishment afterwards. Great idea to get the community involved. Great job team Bear....keep us happy and healthy.

It's small but has all the necessities... free weights, cardio equipment, cycle room, pool, basketball court, studio room, a kids sitter area, and a personal training area. I came around 6PM and it wasn't too packed. The basketball court definitely gets packed, though. Parking is good. There's one right outside the gym but an adjacent one from the shopping area. The only thing that the gym doesn't have is a sauna.

What is most concerning is that the manager's notes regarding my situation were inaccurate and did not reflect what actually occurred. During my conversations with staff, it was acknowledged that there have been ongoing concerns and complaints regarding this manager's practices, and it appears my experience is not an isolated incident. While the organization recognized that mistakes were made, they have been unwilling to take meaningful steps to correct them. I understand that errors happen, but accountability and customer service should follow. Unfortunately, I have been left paying for a problem that was created by misinformation and poor management. I hope the company takes a closer look at these issues and works to improve how customers are treated when legitimate concerns are raised.

The positive energy shown to new comers by the staff and even members was great motivation to keep us coming back. The workouts are tough but rewarding. Charlie and Joe are a great duo and for sure keep their classes joyful and energetic. Each glass gives me the same energy which is great that I don't have to book a specific time to get the workout that I need. I've attended many different times with a few people or a bunch and have gotten the best workouts no matter the size. I enjoy the group training type of session because even though there are other people the trainers are great at still giving one on one direction. They push you to keep going and to fight through the pain. Definitely getting your monies worth with this gym. They declined to honor my request to pause my membership, stating it's not a valid reason even though my doctor provided a note. The manager also took several days to respond to my request putting me in another billing cycle. I sent the email to the abcfitness, and they charged me for March, April, and May even though I gave enough notice. When I called, the rep refused to work with me, and I have been a loyal member for years. With that being said I will not refer or come back to this gym. It's sad because I enjoyed the classes and trainers, but this discrimination and attitude of management don't deserve me coming back to be treated like this again. Basically, you sign up for the classes you want to take that week and the system generates "My Schedule" showing the times and the work outs you've selected. You even get an email confirmation! Class cancellations and payments all happen through the MindBody Scheduler system too. I really like the free week membership; 7 days free to try as many classes as you want (I think they cap it at 50). It's a pretty sweet deal and I signed up for it all from the convenience of my own home. While the experience of signing up was very efficient, I knocked off 2 stars because when I arrived at CrossFit for the yoga class I signed up for, there was no one at the front to greet or direct me. I wandered around until I found someone who looked like he worked there, who wasn't interested in giving me a run down of how things work even after I mentioned it was my first time. He didn't even offer a pen for me to fill out the waiver for. Perhaps this was just a rare happening because it was a Sunday morning, but still. I didn't feel super welcome.
