I think this will be the first review since they were closed from December 8 to December 22 for renovations. First off, this isn't my home gym. I only come to this one because of the location when I'm visiting family in the Bay Area. When you think of Sausalito, you think upscale, well-managed, personable, and impressionable. Not really the vibe I got at this Anytime Fitness center. You should have stayed closed until everything was cleaned up and ready for a grand re-opening. I came in the other night when it was pouring rain and, to be honest, I wasn't not really impressed with the new set-up compared to what it was before. When I first walked in, I was immediately met with the smell of sweat, some other funky stale odors, and just an overall feeling of cringe and ick. Let's just say I've been to better gyms that actually make a conscious effort to feel welcoming when you "badge in." The storage cubby area for personal items was overflowing with water bottles, sweaters/jackets, workout towels, and clothes balled up in the corner that have just been left there. Primary source of the smell, I think. No accountability, no apparent care for cleanliness. FAIL!!! A side office door with a "Redlight Sauna Therapy" sign next to it was off the hinges with boxes inside, in plain view, that I can only assume were left there from the recent renovation. Floor mats at the front entrance off to the side that weren't laid down and interconnected, just stacked one on top of the other. The color palette is bland and not energetic. Grey and White? Seriously? Stick with the primary brand and accent colors: Blurple, Purple, White, Red/Orange, and Green/Turquoise. You should know this! Where's the "Inspiration Wall Board" for members to write words of motivation for other members? The brick and mortar "Anytime Fitness" logo wall with supplements is also gone/missing. If this was meant to be a soft opening, you missed the mark entirely. I'm not Joey Swoll, but overall, I'd say "you need to do better." So what's changed, positively? There's a new gym set-up/floor plan from when I was here last year, 2024. The spin class / group training studio is no longer there and has been opened up to include 4 new squat racks, a cable pulley machine, and flat bench rack. On the other side, it's still very much the same with the mirrored wall and free weights as well as the purple turf training area with TRX bands and medicine balls. There are two new treadmills, I think. The track mat/belts feel a little flimsy and could use some tightening. The massage chair room is still there. 4 unisex restrooms, only one has a shower. I loved coming here before the renovation, but now, I'm not so sure. You have a lot to improve on and make better in order to make me ever reconsider coming back here. read more

This location has to be the most friendly, and well maintained gym in the area. I moved to the Marin area several months ago and have hopped around gym to gym paying for day passes to check out the facilities and this one, by far, has all of them beat in variety of equipment, friendliness of staff, and cleanliness, and they even have a red light recovery room and massage recovery room! Make sure to ask for Trevor if you have any questions at all, I cannot attest enough to his industry knowledge, his professionalism, and general positive vibe. read more

This gym is not kept clean. The male employees are not interested in keeping the place clean, they spend their time chatting with the young women. I'm sure that's more enjoyable than taking care of the facilities. read more

Every single time I've worked out at this location ALL 4 bathrooms are disgusting. I would rather hold my pee until I get home. I can bet that this is the reason the toilet seats are always covered in piss because people are having to squat when they pee so as to not have to sit on the seat without a seat cover. It makes sense that the toilets are always clogged too because people are having to use a ton of tp to make their seat cover. I have messaged management multiple times about bringing in seat covers in the bathrooms as this is the ONLY location that doesn't have seat covers in their restrooms and they never respond. It's been months since I've joined and it's a real pain to dread having to pee during my workout. I can't be the only person who has noticed this. I feel like they're gaslighting me into thinking toilet seat covers aren't necessary and this isn't a real issue in a gym. read more

I've been a member of Anytime Fitness Marin for the past 4 years now. This is a great neighborhood gym that has all the amenities you need, whether you're into compound workouts, cardio, HIIT, guided classes, etc. Mike and his team have done a great job curating equipment and programs over the years. He even solicits member feedback in a democratic way to select what the club should invest in re equipment, etc. He has cleaning stations everywhere, and takes good care of the equipment. Wear and tear on machinery is replaced promptly with signs telling members what is being fixed, etc. Bonus points in that AF has locations around the world and I use some of the international locations which is a big bonus. read more

I have no issue with this business except for one rule. Guests are expected to dry off the floor in case someone falls. I guess they don't want to be considered "liable" for an injury to avoid a major lawsuit. My main stipulation is that there are no towels or hand towels provided. It's kind of a major oversight on their end, otherwise I would have no issue. Maybe puts some matts down or something. Just an idea. read more

I've been a member of this gym for over a year now. I usually come very late at night. So far, I haven't had any problems at all. The staff are really polite and friendly people. The gym is clean. I also try my best to follow all the gym rules. Last December, I noticed a small increase in the membership fee, but it's not a big deal. I highly recommend this place to everyone. read more

I have visited Anytime Fitness locations all over the west coast and even a few internationally and this is far and away the best location I've been to. Mike collects fees each year from members which he uses to update the gym. We all get to make suggestions throughout the year and whatever receives the most votes, wins. All of the money is used to keep the gym in good condition with high quality equipment. For a small additional fee, there is even a hydromassage bed available for use. I've never been to an Anytime Fitness location that included something like this. There is also a fitness room where you can take virtual classes and/or have some additional privacy while doing mat workouts. I've seen a few other Anytime Fitness locations that have one of these, but not many. In general I can tell Mike has put a lot of effort into keeping this gym a nice, friendly place to visit. We have only spoken a few times but he addresses me by name when I enter the gym and says hello. Even though California has fully reopened he has kept up the plastic drapery between each machine and still has a plethora of hand wipe stations across the gym. I think this is a wise choice and as an aside, the Anytime Fitness in Novato does not take these precautions. read more

I've written a review saying 24 hour fitness is a pretty good gym. I wrote in the review that the owner came and cleaned the treadmill with disinfectant while I was running on it. It was not fun to breathe disinfectant while I'm running, and I can't do anything about it because I am on the machine and he didn't notify me that he was cleaning it. He just came up and started doing it. . A week later, he did the same thing only he was vacuuming on the machine while I was running on it with no notice didn't ask me if I was OK with it. He just went ahead and did it. . He responded to my review saying that I didn't like cleanliness and he was sorry he keeps a clean gym. He was arguing with me that it's OK to clean a machine with disinfectant while somebody's running on it.. and actually he didn't even touch on my point. He just repeated himself he was sorry I didn't like a clean gym. Not the point! 90% of the machines were empty at the time. Instead of apologizing, and trying to be more respectful he made it sound like I was complaining that he was cleaning the gym, which is absolutely not the point He offered me my money back, which was thoughtful and I think I'll take him up on it. I've been a member member for one month. He has cleaned the machine while I'm using it two out of the six times that I've been there. All of a sudden, there's a man right at my feet cleaning the machine with disinfectant as I'm running. A week later all of a sudden there's a man at my feet, vacuuming the machine while I'm using it. . I'll take a clean gym! I would've accepted an apology. And I would like a response as to why it's OK to clean a machine with disinfectant while somebody is running on it, especially when it's a man foot away from a woman using the machine. This is a clean fresh gym on first look, but it has a major problem with"phone squatters". I use Anytime Fitness all over the United States as we travel frequently, and this gym is by far and alone the worst. These mostly young members who spend an inappropriate amount of time sitting on your next workout machine while using their cell phones are a real problem here. When accosted with any encounter as to their intentions they often become confrontational, bitter or just ignore you with a tone of total disrespect. read more

This place is fantastic!!! I can't believe the COVID protections they've implemented. First, let me say that this is not my usual Anytime Fitness. I happened to be up in Marin to run an errand and noticed there was an Anytime Fitness (this one) at the mall I was shopping at. So I stopped in. This place has done some amazing preparations to make it COVID safe. They have these plastic partitions between the machines and equipment that run up from the floor. I've never seen them before but they work great. And they've also spaced out the machines so that none are anywhere within 6'. They have podium dispensers of wipes. You can clean the machines with these wipes both before and after use. The place was super quiet. Only 2 other people were in there while I was there. Everyone appeared to be very good about wiping down machines. Overall, great experience. Might drive there for another workout after lockdown. read more

This particular Anytime Fitness is a great gym and what stands out from this Anytime Fitness compared to the others is that the owner takes extremely good care of the facility. I have witnessed above and beyond deep cleaning and I mean daily with the entire place, cleaning in between workout machine parts, individual equipment--- to name a few--- I have observed the owner to be very respectful towards everyone, but also knows how to be politely direct with individuals who are not treating the gym with respect. I love the main full time employee, for she is such a sweet, kind, loving soul who gets her workout in and also helps many members push to reach their personal goals. I also see the owner training and also teaching, consulting and training many members. This gym also has very friendly, respectful members and by far the best Anytime Fitness I have gone to. I have been hunting for a great gym in Marin for years, and am very glad I found Anytime Fitness. The price is right, the gym is clean as can be, and the members all seem to be very nice people. While the space itself is not very large, it has all the equipment you could ask for and plenty of open space for functional training. Michael, the owner/manager, does a great job running the place. This Anytime Fitness gym is clean, friendly, perfectly designed and with enough equipment to meet anyone's needs from grandmothers walking on a treadmill to 20-something power lifters. I am delighted with my membership at this gym. There is plenty of space, but it's not one of those huge warehouses. People are friendly, but it's not hyper social. All the equipment is in great condition, cleaned regularly by the meticulous owner Mike. Additionally, almost everyone abides by the protocol of wiping down machines EVERY time they are used. I signed up for a one hour training session, and it gave me great confidence as I got back into working out, and it has given me great results. I look forward to my visits to the gym now. We must warn anyone that joins this club to understand that your life or circumstances cannot change. My wife and I were new to the area when we joined the club after our first home purchase in Sausalito. We pay $65 each per month by ACH with no late payments. Unfortunately the employee that signed us up did not emphasize that we were getting a discount from the $85 membership that allows members to cancel. We haven't been to the gym in 2+ months and our life circumstances have affected our attendance. We reached out to the owner Michael he will not let us out or freeze us. I have a hard time believing that it's that way for everyone or has been that way for everyone. We just didn't understand the fine print of this membership and he's not letting us out we have to do 12 more months. We wish that it wasn't so black and white with the membership and there was more of a human component. Especially for members that made payments on time like us. But, I hate to think of it we are black members and I don't think we qualify for the level of understanding that could grant our wishes. Again we're talking about a gym membership lol. This is ridiculous!! Be cautious we have witnessed several times vagrant activities, people sleeping directly outside the gym parked in cars for hours on in. Activity occurred after 12 A.M not sure if the police have ended it since we haven't been there in a while. They were definitely entering the gym for showers with no intent to workout. We regret this membership so much! Please evaluate compare and ask questions before signing up. There are other gyms that offer more programs that match what you're paying for with respectful ownership in the Sausalito/ Marin city/Mill Valley area. read more

Pleasantly surprised by the virtual. I still prefer a live class but this does work very well also. I like how everyone is working hard and focused, not much chatter going on. Better machines than Bay Club Corte Madera (eg, old, TV only, and broken elliptical machines); fabulous anytime hours; owners that care - fast to respond to comments, timely email communications and updates, cleanliness. I couldn't recommend this Anytime Fitness more. The gym itself is always clean and welcoming, and Michael is incredibly friendly and helpful. After only meeting him once, Michael greeted us by name every day. I love this gym and miss it SO MUCH! Mike did a great job preparing the place to keep us safe and I enjoyed the half dozen or so visits I got to make before it had to shut down again. He listens to what the members want and has added some great machines while I have been there (about 2 years) - I'm in love with the assisted chi up machine. I really enjoy being able to watch netflix while I bike and the 'real life hikes' on the treadmills. Wanted to like this gym, but after several guest visits I'll pass. Pros - clean, nice machines and big space. Cons - space is cold or hot in the mornings/before work. No heat/AC. During two visits I heard an offensive song on the playlist with plenty of "F", "N" words and more... terrible. Not sure if anyone works here. Never heard from anyone about joining. This gym is amazing, Mike the owner keeps it in tip top shape and whenever your in and he is there is always greeting you by name and seeing how you are doing. I love this gym! I get my early morning workout and massage and then head off to work. Its conveniently located down from my job. The machines are great and all the equipment is great, I love that its not crowded and I get to use strength training machines without a wait. Best part is I dont feel uncomfortable working out. I never thought I could love a chain/franchise gym location so much. The owners take an unparalleled pride in their gym. They care deeply about (and listen to) their members. They don't nickel and dime on every little thing (which has historically been my biggest beef with franchises - they hide behind rules and contracts). I can't speak for other Anytime Fitness locations but this one's a winner. read more
