Francis Tiafoe...From Tiburon to Australian Open quarter-finals!
RC M.

The Tiburon Peninsula Club is great "home away from home" for families. Great facility, with a friendly capable staff. Many family oriented events are held each year, including the Tiburon Challenger, where you can watch men's professional tennis, up close and personal. I was lucky to get to watch and meet Francis Tiafoe at TPC. Francis just made the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, to play Nadal! Pretty exciting that Tiburon was a stepping stone to stardom for Francis.

Courts at TPC. Taken during qualifying for $100,000 challenger event there.

Great Club, our kids love the instructors, and all the friendly staff. There's sections for BBQing and to have a private gathering.

Lunch items too.. tacos, Sandwiches are upscale, I had an ahi tuna burger which I loved. The owner is Danish and there are Danish items on the menu. The meatballs are great and if you like pickled beets, yum! But I usually get an omelette, my son orders "the ultimate". A big breakfast with pancake, eggs, meat of choice, hash browns and toast! (Son is a young athletic man)! Atmosphere is the best in Marin, I'd say for brunch, sitting on the water and overlooking the swimming pool sandwiched between the pool and tennis courts, our SF friends love to join us at the Club! Have had dinners here too which were great! Full bar and wine list! Never a poor experience and friendly service!

Last week I got Dungeness Crab Benedict with truffle fries and caught some tennis in session. This week I got a tan by the big pure salt saline pool that's heated to 83 degrees year round and while lounging I sipped on Arnold Palmers (I'm taking a wee break from booze but their bar is great, too) and swallowed a tuna melt practically whole. There's a fitness center, a butt-load of tennis courts, an on-site bar & resto, huge jacuzzi, olympic size pool, and some incredible views as The Club is right on the Bay and looks over to Tiburon. My friend is a member and actually lives on this resort property (unreal) and I totally mooch off his guest spots to come get my swim on. I feel like every time I come I meet 1000 people and they all have really cool stories and backgrounds. Retired ER Dr, pizza place owner, French Chefs, lots of lawyers. lots of hot moms, lots of hot dads, some kids they brought with, and while there are a lot of seniors here, they're legit the fittest 60+ crowd I've ever seen. On Holidays they frequently have a live band and they'll grill burgers and dogs outside. It's really cool, very clean, and currently my happy place thanks to this sweet mini tan I was able to catch today.

Wow, San Ramon Aquatic Center is great if you're looking for a place for beginner swimmers or a…read moreplace to splash during a hot summer day. We've been to Dublin Wave and Larkey Swim Center but I think San Ramon Aquatic Park takes the cake: 1. Low entry fee of $8/pp. Big, clean family room for changing along with showers. 2. The main splash pad is a sight to behold. They have this gigantic bucket that gets filled with water pumped from the main pool. It rocks back and forth like a slow bell, signaling impeding doom. Eventually, the bucket tips over and drenched everything and everyone below. It never gets old watching this. 3. They have separate pools for diving, lap swimming, and one with a gigantic inflatable structure that looks like an obstacle course from American Ninja, only above a big pool. As for minor downsides: 1. Limited places to sit around the perimeter. Its crowded here and many folks set out blankets for picnics. 2 Despite a pretty big parking lot, it does get busy so you may need to park a bit farther.

I love that they have later opening times to accomodate those of us who want to take our kiddos to the pool after work. Most other spots close by 6pm. We've gone a few times to their 7pm to 8:30pm rec swim time slot M, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and my toddler absolutely loves it. Lifeguard are paying close attention to everyone and making sure everyone is being safe. Very clean locker rooms/shower facilities as well. Reasonable prices, $8 per person, but just keep in mind there is a service fee if you use a credit card, so bring cash if possible! We've happily incorporated this into the rotating group of rec swim places we hit during the summer.

Bernard is a great tennis instructor, very knowledgeable, talented and enthusiastic about tennis. He communicates well, point out the things I need to watch out for and taught me some good techniques. I improved a lot since taking lessons from him and I am once again enjoying play tennis with friends and family thanks to Bernard. My wife on the other hand, had never, ever played tennis before, after she start taking lessons from Bernard last Nov, she was able to rally and play games with me after 1 month (of course she practiced a lot too after lessons) . Then she signed up for local leagues early this year and started playing 2.5 and 3.0 matches, which is so much more than she had hoped to be when she first started. Lots of players thought she had played tennis for years. Now my whole family are hooked on tennis. My sister (also a student of Bernard) is having Bernard teaching her two kids. Hopefully one of them will make it to US Open one day :). Overall. I (we) strongly recommend Bernard for any level of tennis, he is versatile, a strong, talented player and simply loves the game. His instruction on STRATEGY and how to predict what your opponent is going to do, how to "build" a point, is unparalleled. He is a joy to be around: always positive, funny when things get a tad quiet, and very understanding & wiiling to go over match results and match prep. Bernard is super-reliable and flexible. He also taught my husband, who was a beginner, and my daughter. He is supremely patient with children. He doesn't just tell every player the same thing - like some tennis pros do. We all have GREAT memories of time spent with Bernard. His enthusiasm for teaching and individualized approach are the reasons I and my husband continue to play, years after Bernard moved from our area. Try him out - you can't go wrong.
