The manager Gary is a super cool dude who will usually hook you up (even after hours) if you tell him you're here for the show. They have enough equipment to get all the angles and muscle groups and it's super clean. Gary has done a great job remodeling the place and all the equipment is well maintained. There are bathrooms and showers. There's a ton of mirrors and room for mobility work and/or posing. I am usually not one for commercial gyms but the next time I'm in town this will be my go to spot! read more

I joined the Auburn MA location originally, and when those owners opened up this Shrewsbury St location several years ago, I began going here instead. The gym has always been great, and exceeded my expectations. When Gary took over, things only got better. The gym has constantly been improving, including additional racks and a whole new space geared towards functional training. While I would like to see a hack squat machine, and some kind of hammer press for incline chest, I really can't make a legitimate complaint. Yes, Planet Fitness and the like are cheaper, but they are more crowded, no where near as clean, and doesn't have your personal fitness goals in mind. I was passing through town and needed a gym while on my 1900 mile road trip. Hotel gyms don't cut it for me. I called in advance become I wouldn't arrive during staffed hours to pay for a day pass. Paige was the MVP on the phone. I also got to speak with Gary on the phone, just a genuine guy. Once I arrived to the gym, Mike (I think that's his name), actually happened to be there. Got the waiver filled out, got the tour and all good. My point... customer service is EXCELLENT. The gym has a good range of equipment, it's NEAT and clean. Super glad I stoped here. read more

Really bummed. Went in to ask about joining and their membership. I noticed no one was wearing a mask, so i asked about their mask policy. Guy behind the desk told me they don't enforce one. He said it was up to personal decision if someone wanted to wear one or not. Worcester put a mask mandate into effect on September 17th. So it's not that they can't enforce it, it's that they choose not to. He said "it's hard to go backwards" and tried to reassure me that a lot of their members were first responders. When I informed the gentleman that I was cautious about joining because I am severely immunocompromised and it wouldn't be great to be around unmasked people, he told me I should stay home. Really great to know how this gym feels about immunocompromised people and disabilities. After the appointment we sat outside in the car where we watched every person who entered and exited without a mask. There is no sign on the door reminding patrons about the new mask mandate. Edit to the owners reply below: Gary, I am sorry that you took my review to be an attack on small business, but that is not the case. I can see from your profile picture that you were not present when I had a conversation with your worker. Your response here seems pretty aggressive in tone, so don't feel that a conversation in person would have been much more helpful. My review was not an attack on your business, it was an explanation of my experience, which although limited was very upsetting. As someone who is immune compromised, you must understand how important all safety measures are during this time, no matter how inconvenient they may seem to others. There were no signs at your facility indicating masks are required and- again- no one, including your employee, was wearing a mask at the time of my visit. You claim that you have gone above and beyond health regulations to make sure your facility is safe, but that was unfortunately not my experience. Even if the timing of my visit was just an unfortunate circumstance and your gym is typically much safer, a rare occasion when no one is masked is still a problem. And in any case, the employee explained to me that your location does not enforce the mask mandate, and if I didn't feel safe enough there I should stay home. If that is not accurate, your employees should be made aware so they are not misrepresenting your business. Although you feel I should have had a conversation with you directly, these things speak for themself and should be addressed so no one else has the same experience that would negatively impact your small business. read more

Clean. Well maintained gym with a big open area that is great for functional movements and stretching. Gary is easy to reach and ready to help anyone out, a true professional. The gym is never too busy and everyone I have met there has been excellent. For people that are looking for more than those cheap gyms but not break the bank, this is the place. read more

I'm new to Anytime Fitness, it's only been about 2 weeks, and every interaction I've had has been better than expected. I came to this location as a guest as my home gym is in N.H. I arrived at 5:15a and my key didn't work. (I was unaware that it typically took about 30 days for my key to work at guest gyms). I called Gary to let him know that I'd like to come back the next morning. He offered for me to call him at 5:15a and let me in remotely. I thought this was unbelievably generous and superb customer service, as it wasn't even my home gym! Gary went above and beyond to represent the franchise, his business, and true customer care. I can't rate him high enough! The gym was clean, had a wide variety of equipment, all well organized and in good shape. I would highly recommend this location over others, because if you have a great manager running the place, it makes all the difference to your experience! read more

I am on tour with a band and I usually try and get a workout in each city. The day passes are only $5 here and have everything you would need! I ubered it there because the weather outside was so cold. Gary the owner offered to give me a ride back to DCU. I stopped here because I was in town for a meeting and had an extra hour and a bag of gym clothes. I called first to clarify that my pass would work from out of town, and I was greeted warmly and welcomed to come in. The machines are a little different here so I tried to figure out how to change the channel on my treadmill tv screen. Before I could even think of asking for help, the owner Gary came over to help and then introduce himself. Very impressive service and great experience. Ok, Let's be honest. This is not a bad gym at all. But they refuse to cancel your membership, even you announce your relocation at the end of your previous membership. They will just renew it anyway. Without your permission. I called one month before my membership should end, to confirm no auto-renew will happen. The owner Gary spoke with me, frustrated, asked me to email my information so he can process the cancellation. I did. No response afterward. No returning phone call. I am sure to get one more month's fee before your member realize it feels really good. If you are about to stay in Worcester area for a while, this is a good choice. If you are moving away to somewhere without any access to Anytime fitness, make sure you cancel your membership in person with the staff, with written acknowledgement, pre your leaving. read more

I've been a member for almost a year now and so far so good. I chose it mainly for the location since I work closeby and I have not been disappointed. I used to go to World Gym in shrewsbury before the closed up last year. I scoped out at least 6 gyms in the area before finally settling on this one. This is not Planet Fitness that takes what I call an "assembly line" approach (you can see the large volume of people in there when you drive by White City). I didn't want what looked like a factory. Anytime Fitness is small and intimate and they have every single possible equipment you can want. An indoor rowing machine was important to me and they had one. All the treadmills and ellipticals and stairmasters are equipped with tvs (if you like that sort of thing). I use mostly the weights section and love the selection they have. I also use the on-demand fitness system - a room with a projector where you can select from various workouts (kickboxing, yoga, kinetics, cycling etc) and have a 'private' lesson all by yourself (great for people like me who don't like crowds or classes). The place sometimes gets busy around 5-6 pm but never crowded enough that you cannot use the equipment you want. I will be renewing my membership next month for another year. I paid the full year in advance so I wouldn't have to worry about monthly billing drama. And oh, AF is not cheap - at ~$40 a month its on the high side, but I got to say cheaper is not always better, and that's why I go there. And finally, the manager Luis is fantastic, always smiling and encouraging. Plus the occasional phone call if you haven't been in a week or so (I traveled once and he called in just to check up). Overall, I'm quite pleased with my membership there....one small complaint - whoever picks the music needs to step up their game lol. always some funky techno-ish thing, so I always have my headphones on. Being completely honest this is the worst gym I've ever been too! I usually don't write reviews but I thought that I should just incase this helps someone! The trainers and staff are the rudest people I've ever met, my car was mysteriously towed from there parking lot and I had to pay big bucks to get it back! I live in Worcester and had to commute to the Auburn or Boylston location to use my gym membership. But now there is this new location on Shrewsbury Street! I met the owner last time I was there and he is a really nice guy. He was happy to talk to me and show me around. Everything about this place, including the machines, is state of the art. They have a tanning booth, a protein drink vending machine, all the circuit training machines, free weights, guided squat/bench press machines, treadmills, bicycling machines, and many ab machines with an abundance of equipment to use. They even have a theater room with a projector for classes like spinning, kickboxing, cycling, dancing, etc.. There are also private showers and restrooms that are very spacious. Another plus is that there has never been more than a couple people there when I've gone. It's a very nice new facility. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to get into shape, switching gym memberships or searching for a nice quiet gym. read more

Facility is small but always clean. Staff is friendly. The problem was that I had to move six months into my membership. I moved to Lexington and there was an anytime fitness in Medford, which is incredibly inconvenient to get to. Since it's within twenty miles of where I was moving, the manager refused to cancel my membership. The best she offered was to change my membership so it would stop renewing automatically six months later. If you join, it's alright for what you're paying, but make sure you're not at risk for a job change or moving because they aren't forgiving for these circumstances. I've been eating $40 a month for something I can't use. read more

This location is just as great just like Anytime Fitness in Auburn. I go to both locations and both locations are fantastic. The staff, like in Auburn, are fantastic, and like Auburn, make sure the clients are satisfied. I would recommend this location and the Anytime in Auburn because you get to exercise whenever you want, and at some gyms, that's not the case. read more

I occasionally go to the AT in Shrewsbury when I can't get to my home club. The location is great. I have never met the owner or staff members though I have gone during the day a few times. The equipment is great but I find the workout area a bit small for free weights and core workouts but I find it very clean and well maintained! read more

The actual gym is nice and 24 hr access is great but the billing is sketchy at best. Two requests to the gym to cancel my membership after my agreement expired went ignored and they continued to bill month to month. Finally after two more payments deducted I was given a separate contact in a billing company. I had to request cancellation through them and they require thirty day notice so one more payment down the drain for a cancellation I requested months earlier. Beware beware. The gym could have replied immediately to my first request or forwarded it to the billing company. They did neither and collected more money because of it. Dishonest practices. Request for refund was denied. Again the gym is nice but that is very dishonest. There are a number of better gyms around. read more
