The trim handle wasn't damaged. But the old cartridge was for sure damaged with the stem sticking out. Sure, the cartridge would need to be replaced anyways, but taking it out in the first place while not familiar with the fixture could damage the valve itself which could be a much worse problem.

Please read! Over…read morethe past several months I had issues with my Navien tankless water heater. Several plumbers have come and gone without resolve. Navien asks you use one of their certified companies to diagnose. Alfonso's team came out and started the process. For a couple of weeks I was frustrated at the process that Navien makes the technicians take to solve the issue. Paying for parts I may have not needed etc. Understandably, I started to become frustrated and upset. So I would reach out to Alfonso for clarity and resolve. He was extremely patient with me and understanding the whole time. Hearing me out and my concerns while also breaking down the process and why it needed to be done this way. Over a few weeks, Alfonso came out and solved the issue with a check valve malfunction, after having replaced the motherboard and flow sensors (which for the Flow sensor they helped get Navien to cover). The diagnoses payment was steep in my opinion, but I would consider paying it again to have Alfonso and his crew fix an issue I cant solve. What's my takeaway? in summary, Alfonso and his team where with me in my frustration and didnt give up. Alfonso kept telling me "I am here with you to get this figured out until the end." To me, having someone like that care about people enough to not give up or get overwhelmed and pass the buck, is incredibly hard to find in people now adays. Christian (Epic Plumber) quickly identified what needed to be done, installed the new faucet correctly, and even verified the repair by using the access panel behind the tub to ensure there were absolutely no leaks inside the wall. That extra step gave me real peace of mind that the job was done right the first time. He was professional, courteous, and respectful of my home. One thing I especially appreciated was that he put on boot covers before coming inside.
