Hands down Seth with Apex is the go to if you're looking for great customer service, professionalism, and vast selection in Seattle. I live in a high rise condo with post tension cable (I still don't fully understand what this means other than it holds the building together and if someone damages it, it can compromise the entire integrity of the building structure - Serious stuff!) in Seattle with very strict rules regarding who can drill into the ceiling. After speaking to 3 different companies in the area about upgrading the wire blinds in my condo, I was about to give up. One company was very short with me and didn't follow up; the other two didn't want to go anywhere near the post tension cable. When I reached out to Seth, I tried to set the proper expectations regarding the challenges I've had. He was very optimistic, said he was up for the challenge and came out the next day to assess the situation. He answered all my questions, addressed all my concerns and even provided some design/style tips. I decided to go with the top down/bottom up motorized Hunter Douglas honey comb shades. Seth also chased down my HOA board to get all the appropriate approvals needed to install the blinds in our condo. The very next day I had a reasonable quote and swatches of samples started showing up a few days later. The installation went very well too. The certified Hunter Douglas installation team was able to get the job done in about 3 hours and took the time to show me how to operate them. I had the chance to talk with Seth (owner of Apex Window Fashions) today and unfortunately he currently semi-retired at this time and is not doing the usual consultations for window treatment orders in the same capacity as he has done for 30+ years. We have both been very happy with Seth's work. We hired him to install new shades for our windows. We chose Seth because he had such high reviews and because he was local. He did not disappoint. Initially we though we knew what we wanted, but it quickly became clear after talking to Seth that we were heading down the wrong path. In this case we had originally been thinking of getting vertical blinds and we were set on that. Seth talked to us to understand our drivers, which were to support portable ACs. Then as we talked through it we realized what would really service all our needs were having 3 honeycomb shades per window (our windows are quite long). During the visit, he brought several samples books with him so we could see all the different styles of shades. Seth was very patient and answered all our questions. We both found him to be extremely knowledgable so we decided to proceed settling on Hunter Douglas room-darkening honeycomb roman shades (6 total). The installation went without a hitch. Once I'd purchased from someone else, Apex made a final quote adjustment for me and by a hair they would have been the least expensive quote I'd received. Seth came out and helped me select 9 new Hunter Douglas blinds to replace some older blinds and add new ones to windows we had added with a recent addition to our house this past Summer. I've been meaning to leave him and his company a review and am just getting around to it because I remembered when I was looking on Yelp for something else. He's super responsive to questions and easy to work with. There was some confusion with the price so be sure to help him by double checking his calculations....they will be lower than anywhere else you can get a bid....really. His first calculation seemed kind of high to me and didn't quite add up so I looked over his numbers and asked him to recalculate. He's not trying to cheat you....he just sometimes punches things into whatever program he uses incorrectly but he is happy to fix it. And it's all there for you to calculate yourself or you can ask him and he will send it to you. The install went smoothly. He's really honest and clear about any delays. One of our blinds was the wrong material and he ordered the correct one and replaced it without any argument. When you buy something as expensive as shades, you want to make sure you're choosing the right vendor and product. We talked to A LOT of vendors over many, many, many months (eight?) and were not entirely sold on any of them. They fell into one or more of these categories: - not really knowledgeable - too expensive (compared to the average) - seemed to be only after money (subtle if not overt pressure) - something just being off about them - not communicative (wouldn't answer questions in a reasonable time-frame) It was a tiresome process and we didn't know if we'd ever find the right vendor to get new shades.
