Well, I have A LOT to say! First, the selection is outstanding. I challenge you to not find something you absolutely NEED, nevermind all the WANTS! This is a very well-organized space, a smooth operation (communication, presence of the owners, knowledge of owners), and a place you can be comfortable in knowing that you're getting a fair price, some good advice where warranted, and a truly pleasant conversation with a mensch of a guy. John helped me figure out the value of some coins and advised me what NOT to do with potential rare coinage. I also found this incredibly sweet vintage Tiffany clock at Apollo P & G for a more than fair price (Check them out on Facebook Marketplace!). If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Once again went into the shop and was treated great and walked out with a fair price for what I was selling. The always take the time to look at everything I bring in even if it's not something they are interested in they still have always taken the time to look the item up and have even told me to come back if I can't get more on my own for the item which is wonderful. Rip off ? I would really like a reasonable answer to this experience. Owner seemed like a nice guy, but may have costly exotic habits... I needed some cash today (It is a holiday). I was driving around the Hudson valley with my wife. I forgot my cash at home, but glad I had my wallet. I usually carry 2-3 ounces of gold, as was the case today. I see Apollo and we stop to sell a 1 ounce 24K gold bar. Spot price today around 1681.00 I would expect for a 1 bar deal to sell it for around 95-96% of spot as an unknown customer. I do this so often I do not even assume I am going to be offered a laugh, I was not expecting a great deal either. Gold is good, no question, then I am offered $990 a bar. Fully $1,200 less then I would even consider. I got a heap of excuses about 4 middle men, I let it roll off my back like a duck. We kept driving around, found another coin shop. Clarkstown Coin and Jewelry first offer was 90% of spot or $1570. We bargained a bit and I sold it for .55% premium over spot. Tom, all you had to do was make a reasonable offer on the bars, not treat me like a crackhead and you could have had yourself an easy $1000 day of H and B. DO NOT SELL THIS GUY YOUR GOLD, unless you expect to be screwed. Sorry Tom but this is how it went down. Would love to hear your version ! read more
