Extremely rude ownership. I've been here (and bought here) before but won't be doing so again after the terrible customer service we received when trying to visit last week. Understandable that the shop is by appointment only in Covid time but the disdain we were treated with when asking if and when we could make an appointment was beyond. The woman who answered the door could not be any more clear that she thought we were wasting her time somehow and had no interest in trying to accommodate potential customers. I can't beleive they way they treated us in this store....and then asked us to leave! I have never experienced such arrogance and ignorance from a retail store....They have nothing you need for that kind of service! I bet they will be closing the store soon because word is out that they have terrible prices and customer service does not exist! Wow, I can't believe the earlier review. My experience was quite the opposite. My brother and I were killing time in Cold Spring one day last week, and wandered into the store. We found the owner and his wife to be very friendly and helpful. When we first walked in, Joseph was busy dealing with another customer, but as soon as he was finished he devoted his attention to us. We discussed watches, diamonds and other items before my brother bought a couple of silver coins from him. I am considering buying a diamond, and after checking prices on similar stones, it seems he quoted me a very fair price on the certified stone I was looking at. read more

I was in the Cold Springs having lunch with a colleague, and decided to pop into Joseph Fine Jewelry on Main Street to see if they had a potential gift for my wife. My wife likes unique estate/vintage pieces, which can be difficult to find, and even harder to value. The gentleman that helped me out was quite knowledgable, patient and fair. I had no ideas in mind, but he spent some time with me to show me all sorts of options, and was patient and not at all hard-selling. I felt like it was OK if I took his time and didn't end up buying anything. He spent time educating me on what makes certain pieces more valuable than others. I did end up purchasing two pieces from them, and was very happy with both the quality and the price. You get a great value here, and professional help. They have a great inventory of both new and antique jewelry. I believe they will also make customized jewelry too. My colleague, who is very knowledgable on jewelry (who wasn't looking to buy anything), was impressed with the values on some peices that I was looking at and actually bought a few items as well. I will certainly make regular stops to this jewelry store when I am in the area, and will consider driving up from NJ on special occasions when I need to find a unique gift. I was also surprised by the negative review, as I was satisfied enough to go on this site to give them a good review, which I typically do not do. Took a train from NYC to enjoy the fall foliage and walk around this quaint village filled with many interesting stores. We were pleasantly surprised when we stopped in at this jewelery store. It wasn't your average tourist store. It is owned by a very knowledgeable couple. Even though we weren't buying anything that day, Joseph spend a lot of time with us educating us on the ins and outs of diamonds. He even offered to help us if we found a ring at another store. I was dealing with the sad reality of selling my late mothers jewelry. A friend mentioned Joseph's in Cold Spring. After visiting other establishments and getting a feel for what I might get, I visited Joseph. The owner was quite patient and exuded honesty. Despite being quite busy, he assessed every item I brought. His offer was twice the lowest I had received from another buyer. I sold it all to Joseph's. He then offered to take a gold heirloom that I would not sell to the city for spectrometer analysis at no expense. I wish everyone in business could have his values.
