And as a result of that, Michael's has been a one-stop shop for such things when I want to do something at home or work. The Sunday I came to this Kingston, NY location at Kings Mall, I picked up a glass+black frame for a deckle edge art piece my daughter had gotten hubs. The layout here is bigger than most Michael's I've been to, prices of course, are reasonable and I can use my educator's discount on top of what I buy.

When you're driving by, go slow because it's easy to miss the store. It's on one side of a strip mall and given the nearby tree coverage it's easy to miss.

This is the reincarnation of JP Trains and Hobbies formerly located in Latham, NY. I came here on…read morevacation and was pleasantly surprised with the shop. The good: compared to the old store, it is well lit, the aisles are wider, and it is easier to find things. The hours are probably more regular as well. The bad: the inventory is the same as the previous store, but with even less O, S, and G scales. So, if you are an N or HO modeler you will find this store is nearly the same as the previous one. However, if you model in some of the less-popular scales you won't find much here aside from some scratchbuilding supplies. The prices seemed reasonable. Still... the area neads hobby shops, and I will do what I can to support this one. Check it out!
