The food has gone downhill significantly. I've been ordering from this business for the last 14 years, and from 2023 until now, I've noticed a difference in the food quality and the customer service. The woman taking orders over the phone has a horrible attitude and shouldn't be in the food services industry. It is imperative that anyone handing money use gloves when handling food, and she neglected to do so several times. I want to support my local businesses but not at the expense of my health. Last night I bought a small pizza and an Italian sub, it was the most disgusting food I have ever seen. The pizza was gross all full of oil from the cheap cheese used and the dough was uncooked. Also the Italian sub I bought when I opened up there was no let, tom, on, pick, or oil and vinegar. I called to let them know and got a hard time from them and he had the b.... To hang up. But the worst was when I checked the meat on the sub. Oh my god it was slimy and had a smell to it. Everything got thrown out! It was a nightmare and the 2nd the food has come like this. Don't waste your money on old food I was in food business for 23 years and I know. I don't need anyone to tell me if it's fresh or made right. Then they hang up as well. This was a place I used to go multiple times a week for lunch. I'm actually done going. The food has gone downhill. My chicken cutlet sun was burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. Classic Canton stop, and thankful they are remaining open amidst COVID. This has always been a good go-to, finally decided to review and get some pictures of the food before eating! We did delivery, everything arrived extremely fast and still hot. The lettuce in my salad was some of the best I've ever had for a pizza place, clearly fresh and very crisp. Nice to enjoy a refreshing salad! And no pits in the olives - thank you! The fries were also some of the best I've ever had. I never eat fries plain, but I did this time! Apollo is one of our go-to takeout spots. They dish out some terrific subs, salads and pizzas. Unlike most pizza joints, their salads aren't an afterthought and actually taste pretty decent and effort is made towards making them decent. Their pizzas are pretty standard but definitely way above average and their subs are satisfying and tasty. I'm partial to their hamburger sub. Their buffalo tenders are also pretty good but they don't have any options to control the heat level which is a bummer - I like mine spicier. Service is pretty friendly and their prices are good. TBH i've been getting subs from here for 20 years now, quality has decreased. I recently got my last takeout order from here and witnessed the chef/cook/grill person pick up chicken with his bare hands and put it into the sub, then lick his thumb and pick up another piece and put it into the chicken parm he was preparing. Then the same person that just put toppings on a pizza came over and handled my cash then went back to putting more toppings on the pizza. Customer service is HORRIBLE! We've given Apollo a few chances and every time we regret it. The staff there are extremely rude. One time we tried to order online because we had a coupon that was only available online, their website did not recognize our address even though they are less than 5 min up the street and we know they deliver to us. We called to let them know and asked if we could use the coupon. Their response was No. Called another time and the young man who answered said the wait for delivery was an hour, we said that was fine and he said "yea but you won't get your food for an hour?" As if he didn't want to have to take the time to take down our order. Like we were an inconvenience to him, God forbid he have to actually do his job. Stopped by to get lunch today, placed my order for a sub with a lady who was handling money in front of me by a register who then proceeded to make my lunch. She walked over to an area that had sub rolls, toppings and meats. She proceeded to take a sub roll with her bare hands, scratched something on the side of her lips, then continued to hold the sub roll putting meats in it then put on just one glove after the fact. I ate here for the first and last time today. I thought I'd take my kids out for lunch, and we'd walk down the street and check Apollo out, since I recently moved to the neighborhood. We passed two other pizza places on the way and now I wish we'd tried the other ones instead. :) We ordered: A grilled cheese sandwich, a slice of cheese pizza, a cheeseburger, an order of fries, and an order of onion rings. (We don't usually eat this badly, I swear we don't.) The grilled cheese and cheeseburger came up. I asked about the onion rings and fries. I was handed a plate of onion rings which were already on the way to being cold and hard. I asked about the fries and pizza. They put the fries in. I brought the food we did have to the table, told my 6 year old not to eat his sandwich yet, and went back to wait for the rest of the food. And waited. And waited. After several minutes, I asked about the fries and the slice of pizza. I was handed the fries and when I asked about the pizza, the guy gestured vaguely to someone else and said he was getting it. I brought the fries back to the table (they were the only food that was hot at this point) and told my son he could start eating. After a few more minutes I went back up and asked someone else about the slice of pizza. The guy (who took my order to begin with, for gods' sake) asked me how many slices and went ahead and put the single slice of pizza in to warm. But, when he gave it back to me, it was half-heartedly warm. DEFINITELY not hot. My cheeseburger, which might at one point have been hot, had pretty much been chilled by waiting in the cold bun. The onion rings were hard and cold. When I took a bite of my son's grilled cheese sandwich to try that too, I discovered that the slices of cheese were not only cold, they had never been hot - they had clearly never melted. Having been a resident of Canton in one way or another for nearly my entire life there are generally two kinds of pizza in town. Apollo and D&E. There are other pizza joints (not to mention the typical Papa Johns, Papa Ginos, Dominos) but these are the two that everyone in town knows. Apollo is your typical Greek place. The pizza is typical of that style. Light fluffyish crust, light on sauce, good amount of cheese. I never had anything other than pizza but friends have spoken well of the other food (subs, burgers, etc). They're polite on the phone and true to their time on delivery. Price is reasonable. This West Coast girl never had a good meatball sub until she got one from Apollo. Those other meatball subs that I *thought* were good, are history. When we visit family in Canton, inevitably, we end up getting subs to go from here for at least one night of our stay, and it is usually one of my favorite meals of the trip. I grew up in town and worked a few doors down from this pizza shop and - well, it was one of my favorites. The shop is run by a greek family and they serve typical greek pizza. The pizza is good, not spectacular, but good. My favorite foods here were the plate of fries for $2.00 (it may be more now), raviolis, stuffed shells and their greek salad - delicious! Also - if they have baklava available that day - try it! It's very good and home made. Their soups are also very good. We are new family to the area. We moved there in May 2015. I walk by there everyday and decided to go in a few months ago for a menu. We've tried a few other pizza places in the area but had not tried this one. So on Easter Sunday (yesterday), we got the spring cleaning bug and decided not to go anywhere or cook. I called both of the regular spots we used but no answer. That was understood, it was a shot in the dark. I called Apollo and was very surprised but very happy they answered. We ordered a mushroom pepperoni pizza for delivery. The woman said "30 minutes." My bell rings 20 minutes exactly to the order being placed. Yes, I did check because I was hoping no one was randomly stopping by for dinner, thinking more than pizza was on the menu. Nope it was the delivery. The crust on the pizza was just the way we like it buttery with a soft crispy crunch. There was fresh mushrooms, not jar or can. The sauce was just enough and very tasty. Not loaded with sugar. Their food is fine, but their website lists all kinds of random stuff they don't have, and rather than call you, they pick something at random (eg instead of strawberry frutopia, we got grape crush). They offered to come back and fix the mistake we cared about (we decided to let the other go) but it's been hours and we've heard nothing. What is orange milk? I'll never know. I called ahead for pick up and when I arrived the three men working there were extremely rude. I didn't get any service until I said 'excuse me', but this place is tiny...it's not like they didn't see me!
