I was picking up a delivery for Uber eats and I asked if I could use the bathroom real quick.. the response i received completely shocked me.. the young guy at the counter said "We don't give the bathroom keys to delivery drivers" Delivery guys make you money at 0 expense.. As a customer I have been coming here for 30 yrs, much more so since Soko's in Norwood closed down. The last few yrs they have gotten really expensive, and I attributed it to inflation and tariffs and whatnot. But this time I came in as a driver app service provider. Upon picking up an order I asked to use the bathroom. They said I had to buy something, buy something really? By proxy I am both a customer and an employee. I'm a proxy customer picking up food. I'm a proxy employee by delivery their food to the customer. But apparently I don't have proxy pee privilege. Let me start by saying I like their pizza. Its nice and cheesy with a thicker than thin crust, that' crust is crispy but very light at the same time. I have been here a few times now and I will return again. There sausage was cut ultra thin on the pie as well so it got crispy also, which was kind of nice. The staff have always been pleasant and the wait for a fresh pie was about 10 minutes. Huge disappointment! Come on, you guys... these are all areas you could easily improve upon. First off, you are RIGHT around the corner from the excellent Dedham Community Theatre, where movies often end between 8:30 and 9. You should capitalize on this, especially since your website (and your front door) say you close at 10pm on weeknights. So when customers enter at 8:45 (as we did tonight) and order pizza or calzones, you should (a) be much friendlier than you were, (b) let the customer know there's still time to finish the food, and NOT (c) immediately start stacking all the chairs on the tables, and NOT (d) immediately begin sweeping and mopping the floors under all the tables INCLUDING THE ONES YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE SITTING AT. Eating an admittedly pretty darn good (though a bit greasy) calzone while a grumpy teen employee is mopping a Lysol-soaked mop under your feet isn't exactly my idea of appetizing. Even though it was obvious we were "eating in" and not "taking out," we got our pizza and calzone in to-go boxes. We even ordered a beer and a wine, which were served in the beer bottle (okay, whatever, fine) and the tiny one-serving screw-top wine thingy (really?). Don't mean to be a total tw*t about this, but this was just another drop in the bucket of "let's make our customers feel as unwelcome as possible." Reminder: this was 75 minutes before the restaurant's closing, NOT right at closing time. Not a single person on the staff said an encouraging word, looked us in the eye, or smiled during the 17 (hurried) minutes we were eating here. I really wanted to like this place--I love, love, LOVE downtown Dedham, and would happily support the smaller restaurants and other businesses like this one over the higher-priced places. But COME ON Dedham House of Pizza. This isn't how you should be treating customers. I hate leaving sh*tty reviews, but after an experience like this one, it feels sorta like the only way to get a restaurant to understand that serious improvements need to be made. The main takeaway here: I'm in Dedham pretty often, and I will never, never, never come back to this place, despite its good prices and decent pizza. I am only speaking for the pizza cause I stopped in for A slice. So worth it, it is so good. There is street parking but it seems to all be occupied during the day. The shop is nice, clean, organized and plenty of seating. They have two self order computers which is helpful. There is seating in the resturant so you can eat or take to go. They also serve beer and wine, now that is smart thinking. If I wasnt at work a pizza and beer would have been perfect. Again, the slice is so good. Great place. Fast and friendly service and food was great. Was able to eat at their outdoor area with my pup (business next door has outdoor seating too but does not allow dogs). Grabbed a gyro plate and the gyro was on a fresh made thick delicious grilled/toasted wrap. They were a little too heavy on the tzatziki sauce so if you don't like lots just tell them to go light on it. The gyro plate also came with crispy fries that were tasty! Dedham House of Pizza fortunately is in Dedham, where my mother now lives. We ordered delivery a couple of times. The first time, the confused driver was difficult to communicate with. I understand virtually all of our families were immigrants at one point in time. Geesh, service people dealing with the public should know a modicum of English, not close to zero. Fortunately the security guard in my mom's building intervened once the driver finally arrived. The order took about an hour and a half. My mother was livid. The second order was timely with a different driver. DHP serves a respectible Greek pizza with tomatoes, feta cheese, and black olives. Their competitors use Kalamata olives that my mother prefers. It was typical Greek crust. Thicker than Neopolitan pizza and thinner than Sicilian. Tasty. The Greek salad was okay. Too much lettuce. The meatball and sausage sub on a toasted sub roll was delish. There's only a $10 minimum and a $2 or $3 delivery charge if you call them directly. The money goes intso their pocket, not a lion's share going to Uber Eats, GrubHub, etc who take advantage of small, independent restaurants. I support our local small businesses. Ordering over the phone was surprisingly quick and efficient. Once you order a first time, your info except your credit card is stored on their computer. The employees answering the phone are pleasant, helpful, and patient even though they are extremely busy. It's hard to find a restaurant of any type in Dedham that has such a low minimum order and delivery charge. Most have a $20 or $25 minimum. Difficult for just one person. read more

It pains me to leave this review but the fact that I ordered a pizza for delivery from this company's web site and got a pizza that I clearly ordered to have an ingredient omitted and they delivered my pizza with the ingredient I did not want. I don't believe this could go untold. I was going to give them a break when I called them and told them of the mistake and they offered to make me a new pizza and have it delivered ASAP, however when I got the new pizza and started eating it I noticed one of the ingredients I did not want and hate right in the middle of the pizza I could not let it go. If the person who made my pizza was planning to make a statement because they had to remake my food correctly and costed their employer money, here is my reply statement. You went from a 5 to a 3 to a 1. If it had not been for getting something I ordered correctly the first time this establishment would hands down have got a 5 rating because the pizza was very good. However since they did not make the pizza as I had ordered and the receipt actually showed, that dropped the rating to a 3. I went in and ordered a roast beef sandwich at the counter for takeout. For what it's worth, on their menu it has a heading for hot subs and cold subs, the roast beef is among the cold subs. When I ordered nothing was mentioned about them putting the sub in the oven! After I ordered, while I was waiting I noticed some of the workers putting sub rolls into the pizza oven. I went back to counter guy and asked them NOT to toast my sandwich. I got some sort of grunt for an acknowledgment- and a minute or two later a "sorry it's already been toasted". They refused to make it right. Zero customer service! I will never darken the doorstep of this joint again. For what it's worth also, over $10 for a small roast beef sub with two pieces of roast beef on it doesn't seem like much of a value, even during these times. read more
