I had a customized derma plane facial treatment. This included the derma planing with an enzyme, high frequency and a mask and serums with moisturizer and sunscreen. I have shaved my face before with oil and a facial razor in the past, but I would recommend getting a professional derma planing from Aline. I had my first appointment with Aline about 2 weeks ago and my skin has improved so much since. She did a light chemical peel since I have rosacea and my redness has improved so much. She also showed me a great sunscreen that I should use and my skin really seems to like it. I'm a new client of Aline and I noticed she doesn't have a lot of recent reviews where I personally didn't know what to expect so please be prepared for a review as thorough as her process because she deserves some more attention! Aka only read this review if you're okay with VERY long reviews haha. The service: I didn't choose a specific treatment but texted Aline some of my concerns and after she cleansed my face upon arrival, she was able to create a session according to my skin's needs which I love because all skin is different and I prefer that mentality over a spa saying "their facials are for everyone." In this 1 hour session I received a face cleansing, a consultation about my skin, an enzyme peel with steam (recommended if you have more sensitive skin otherwise she does chemical peels), an extraction session, a gel mask with LED lights (light therapy is great for killing bacteria) finished with cooling fresh aloe, moisturizer, and sunscreen. I also learned that what I thought was acne and black heads (because of Google and random makeup consultations), is actually rosacea and skin tags! This is where a professional comes in handy from their experience versus all the possibilities you may find on Google (Aline has 20+ years of licensed experience!) I'm not going to lie, because this was my first time, I did not know extractions hurt as much as it did (I have a very low pain tolerance with sensitive skin and can bleed easily) but honestly it's just like getting your eyebrows threaded, temporary pain for a better result in the long run. In the end my face was GLOWING! I still had my textured skin from skin tags, rosacea, and new extractions but you can feel your skin being firmer and healthier! It was mentioned that the extractions do take a few days-1 week to heal and the skin is generally drier for a couple of days because of the peel so please do leave some time for a recovery period if you're planning an appointment before a special occasion. She also discusses every step of the process so be prepared for some skincare terminology but feel free to ask questions about it because she's so sweet and answered all of mine! The environment & COVID precautions: Apothecary 4 Skins is currently NOT a store. This is a woman-owned small business where Aline works from her home and one of the rooms upstairs is designated towards your service. This might be weird at first for some people, but let me tell you that Aline was WAY more cautious and sanitary than most spas or studios that I've researched/heard of/experienced. She even makes sure her clients are vaccinated before attending their sessions. Once you arrive, be prepared to take your shoes off which I really didn't mind but in case you're worried, she provides some feet covers that resembles a hair net for your feet. A hair net is also provided for your hair since you will be laying down. As you walk in, relaxing music plays from her living room as you go into the upstairs room for her studio. She has a small podium for your belongings and you lay down on the same type of bed you experience at clinics and get started. After the service is done the room and bed is sanitized and a waiver is signed. The attention to detail and sanitation made me feel very comfortable the entire time I was there. After thoughts: This is not a service that focuses on massages like spas but instead on the actual health of your skin by renewing your skin so you can maintain it accordingly at home. Because each session is different, the prices vary so it is not cheap but is definitely reasonable for the entire experience ($150+). I'm now going to adjust my skin care routine based on a lot of her recommendations and use some of the products I bought from her as well. She sells some great quality products including Elta MD sunscreen, which has been one of the best sunscreens out there, especially sensitive skin types. I bought a foaming cleanser, gel moisturizer, retinol lotion, sunscreen, and anti-aging peptide serum from her. My treatment plus the new skincare regimen totaled up to a little over $300. Considering how much I constantly spend at Sephora and Ulta for random brands and the time saved instead of reading reviews, I think this was totally worth it! I felt very comfortable communicating (text/phone) with Aline during the booking process and was glad she asked for vaccination status. Finally looking and feeling like myself again. I went to Aline feeling so defeated and thinking I will never have good skin again. I remember my consultation so clearly. I was telling Aline my story and trying SO hard not to burst into tears. My skin was ruined from the Aviclear laser. It gave me cystic acne and scars that left my skin looking disfigured. After numerous aggressive treatments from med spas, my skin got worse and worse. I was terrified of adding chemical peels to my regimen given how irritated and sensitive my skin was. I've been meaning to leave a Yelp review and now that I got the chance I am going to share my brothers acne experience. Prior to learning about Aline he tried an endless amount of products and nothing was helping. After seeing two dermatologist and taking prescription medication there was still no improvement. Desperate to find a solution, as I saw how it was affecting his self esteem, I turned to Yelp. I'm not going to lie at first I was hesitant because of the cost however we were desperate to find a remedy or at the very least a relief. He was suffering from cystic acne on his chin to start with but after a few weeks it was everywhere. I went to get a facial with Aline on 1/7. I let her know that my concerns were fine lines/wrinkles and large pores. The first thing she did was clean my face and then she moved on to the extractions! I'm not going to lie, the extractions were painful!! However, once that is done the rest of the facial is very relaxing! I have referred friends and family to Aline throughout the years, but the ultimately referral was definitely when I took my Mom to Aline for Mother's Day for an Anti-Aging Facial. My mom said this is without a doubt the best facial that she received in her lifetime and that I can only take her to Aline for facials now. My Mommy is so SPOILED!!! Please refer to my previous posts in regards to the acne treatments. For my mom's anti-aging treatment, Aline was so sweet to explain to my mom in Vietnamese each of the steps and the function of the products that she was about to use. First she cleansed my mom's face and turned on the steamer to open up the pores. She checked with my mom and adjusted the steam pressure (by distance) as needed. She knew my mom's skin needed some microdermabrasion loving to rid her of the dead skin cells and she did it prior to the extractions to really get all the gunk beneath the surface out. Aline was so dedicated while extracting my mom's pore, especially the stubborn white heads that other past estheticians had fail to remove during many of her past facials. This is why I absolutely adore Aline, I know she genuinely cares about her clients. After the extractions were over, she applied a nice firming mask to help close up the pores where it rested and firmed up after about 10 minutes. Then a large hot towel is used to removed the mask and then she moisturizes, spfs and finishes up my mom's face with a peptide serum. My mom said she felt the immediate difference and cleanliness of her skin and she was already trying to map out in her head how to get to Aline's from her workplace. It was too cute!! Not only did my mom get spoiled with her Mother's Day Facial, she also got hooked up with a new beauty regiment: - Rhonda Allison Glycolic Herbal Wash ($35): This has always been my favorite face wash, and now my mom is joining me on the glycolic hype. This face wash is gentle enough for me to use on a daily bases without any dryness or peeling. It helps remove the dead skin cells and also to avoid unnecessary build up clogging your pores. - Elta MD Skincare SPF 45 ($35): My mom's former SPF is about the same price but it is missing the zinc oxide ingredient to help efficient fight the UV rays. At first my mom insisted on the SPF 50 but Aline applied both on her arms for comparison and my mom agreed that the SPF45 was the right amount of protection without feeling to heavy on her skin. - Rosance x8 Gel Creme ($50): Go away dark spots!! Aline has a 2% bleach and a 4% bleach but she recommended my mom to start off with the 2% bleach to see if she gets the results that she needs. This bleaching gel helps my mom with all of the hyperpigmentation and aging spots that have accumulated throughout the years. I don't even notice it but my mom hates her dark spots so she was incredibly happy for this bleaching gel. - HC Peptide Booster ($90): When we go out people already think that my mom is my older sister. This will make me the older sister soon :) This is a deep wrinkle serum with firm and tone your skin to undo the appearance of wrinkles. My mom has been using this for about a week and already noticing desirable results. These peptides are the legit stuff!! Trust me, my mom grew up during the war time so it is in her nature to be thrifty. She even yelled at me when I bought her the Ipad2 for the Mother's Day when it first came out... But this year she resisted a little coming, but by the time we were leaving it was more like, oh yes buy it, buy everything!! I was like.. oh? OKAY!! I found it quite strange that my last review for Aline was more than a year ago. Needless to say, this write-up is long overdue. I have faithfully come in once a month over the past year and a half because frankly, If I halted my visits, who knows what kind of pore-y chaos my skin would subject itself to. She has not only nurtured my complexion, she provides me the education I need to maintain the progressive path my skin has taken. Once in a while, I'll have a bad month where I have more impurities than usual, but obviously that can be attributed to almost anything. What I like about Aline is that we'll devise a plan to circumvent the problem without 1) agitating my skin more 2) burning a hole through my wallet 3) changing too much of my routine which works most of the time. Aline will take the time to get to know not only your skin but you as a person. You will also find that you look forward to these sessions albeit the tingling (yet short lived) pain from those extractions. And she's quite good at getting the uglies out. Today was my second facial I've had from Aline and both times from just getting up when she finished, I felt so much cleaner and refreshed! This place is located in a quiet neighborhood and is not a formal office. You go upstairs to room and she give you one of the best facials of your life. She started off by opening up my pores with the steamer. Then prepped my skin for extractions. The extractions are EXTREMELY painful. U I have tattoos over my body but the pain of having extractions on sensitive parts of your face were awful. However, after the swelling went down after a day, I noticed how CLEAN my pores were. I loved it. I didn't have breakouts for days. I'm utterly excited to finally be writing a review for Aline because I remember finding Apothecary 4 Skin on Yelp over a month ago and reading ALL the good reviews but I was nervous to take the leap of faith in getting the acne facial. The biggest reason was price, but I'll say it now that it's WORTH IT. I can't believe it took me this long to finally call Aline and make an appointment, and all I can say is I only wish I had done it sooner! "NAIL SALON FACIAL" vs. "MEDICAL-GRADE FACIAL" I remember when I first saw Apothecary 4 Skin on Yelp, I was amazed that this place got a perfect 5 stars out of over 60 reviews! That's REALLY good! However, what held me back at first was simply price. I saw the reviews stating prices from $75 to $90 and a nearby nail salon was only charging $45 for an acne facial. I was thinking "Well, they're both acne facials right? So it must be the same thing?" Boy was I wrong! I'm going to share with you my journey from a "nail salon facial" to a REAL facial from Aline. I got my "nail salon facial" about a month ago and just a quick overview, they put creams and I guess "peels" on your face, they do extractions and they massage your face and shoulders. It's obvious that their focus is on relaxation and not so much results. After my "nail salon facial", I found myself back on Apothecary 4 Skin's Yelp and I would obsessively read everyone's good reviews about how their skin is amazing and after just ONE treatment they noticed a difference! Well, it was more than a week after my "nail salon facial"...and I didn't notice a thing =/ I knew there was something different about Aline's facials and after much thinking, I just took a leap of faith and decided to call Aline! FIRST PHONE CALL TO APOTHECARY 4 SKIN: I was surprised as to how extremely kind and informative she was on the phone! She explained what the facial would be like, how she's different, her history of working from dermatologist offices, etc. I felt so welcomed to her business just from that one call! FIRST FACIAL AT APOTHECARY 4 SKIN: I met her for my first facial this past Saturday, 01/19/14, and it was a nice experience! She works out of her very beautiful home and it added so much of a comfort factor. Walking in makes you feel more like a guest than a client. Before even starting, Aline was able to look at my face and say my skin was congested! You can tell right away she was an expert. During the facial, Aline talks you through every step of the process letting you know what she's using on your face, how it's going to benefit your face, and how it's going to feel when it touches your face. The experience is a lot more like a medical procedure than a "relaxing spa" experience, but if you're trying to fight a skin problem, that's what you want!!! POST-FACIAL I know that the facial is actually working because my skin actually FEELS different. It's been about 2 days and I can feel my skin is tighter and not as oily. There were a million little scabs from the extractions, but that's expected. It's part of the healing process of a facial. That's how I know that Aline is good at extractions, because you can see that it's been done. With the "nail salon facial", I had extractions done, but it didn't leave any marks whatsoever. Aline is very informative about how to take care of your skin after the facial and she sells medical-grade cleansers for your face to use at home. OVERALL: I'm SO glad I found Aline on Yelp. I feel like I finally found the answer to my acne problem and don't let money get in the way. Think of ALL the money you'll be spending in the long run on facials that don't work, the monthly subscription of Proactiv, the other TV-advertised solution for your face, etc. Just go to Aline! She's an expert, she'll see the problem with your face, and she'll help you! I highly recommend her to anyone reading this! read more
