I was able to park right outside the entrance, with metered street parking. They have been hosting small businesses to do popups and the day I went was to visit a friend who runs a micro-bakery called Smorris Desserts. It was easy to support a small business who also pours back into other local small businesses and the community. There are so many cute things and also other small artists and creators hosted in the store as well such as Atelier Celeste which is one of my favorite local ceramics artists. I bought a super cute necklace from their jewelry/build your own charm bar near the registers. They had a mix of gold AND SILVER which was really nice since so many places I go to often only sell gold. I also got a cute bag charm for my purse. The prices were honestly really reasonable especially for a small local business. I think if you're able, I would try to get gifts here for friends, parties, etc. The staff is also super great. Lindsay is one of the people who I often see there and they are the coolest, kindest, and most knowledgeable people about the are. They are able to give really great recommendations for things in store and also gave me a local business recommendation for something they didn't carry. Tip: spread out your gift purchases, especially for christmastime, throughout the year! It's easier on your budget to do small things at once and it feels so nice at the end of the year to realize you already did all the hard work!

The person who I ASSUME is the owner came over and immediately raised his voice and started calling me names. Saying I'm being shitty and I shouldn't "do that to a small business." I tried to explain why I was doing what I was doing and he made sure to tell me he didn't care. Not that this person will change how they operate but all he had to do was be like "hey do you mind?" And I would have pulled my head out of my ass and been understanding. However! Raising your voice and approaching anyone in that manner is deeply shitty and clearly an attempt at humiliating me. I'm not here to argue that I was in the right, I was just too busy thinking about myself and how I was bummed I couldn't travel with the book. But to my children this place is an amazing treasured purveyor of beautiful rocks - a place they will root through various little cravable beautiful stones, gems, and carvings. A place they would rather go to blow their walking-around money than even the toy store. We could easily go four times in a one week vacation, crossing our fingers and hoping each time the credit card machine works. This may not be the target clientele of Mother Moon but they are friendly and patient and treat our children well, and that is all we could ask.

I had seen the storefront many, many times over my years coming to town but had never gone inside so I popped in with her. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. They're a teeny shop but they have a really wonderfully curated collection of crystals and rocks, both small and some as big as the whole of your hand. There's also a fairly large selection of incense and oils, jewelry and decorative objects, books, and even a small amount of clothing. My cousin recently participated in her first craft fair selling her handmade jewelry and she dropped a nice chunk of her earnings here on some really beautiful stones for her collection! If you're into the metaphysical or just want some lovely things to smell or look at, be sure to pop in and visit them! I will definitely make it a point to stop in and visit every time I'm in town from now on.

I am always inspired when I shop here and often find myself wishing I earned more money to buy all the treasures made here. Gemini makes their own hand crafted leather belts as well as offering monograms on all sorts of leather curiosities. My favorite was an ingenious cyanotype "tie dyed" leather contraption that transformed a glass jar into a coffee mug. So inventive. I also love that they sell DIY cyanotype kits amongst all their marvelous creations. Long ago, I bought an airplant from this establishment and it's still going strong. I thoroughly enjoy perusing the art, clothes, bags, jewelry and other thoughtfully designed items. It brings me peace walking in and smelling that leather along with their delicious scented candles. As I've been trying to shop locally for the holidays, I knew Gemini would be great. They have a great range of products for anyone in your life. They have a section to make your own belt, wallets, bottle holders, coasters, jewelry, and more. The prices are all really fair and it's cool to see parts of the studio where things are made. My favorite gifts to give for baby showers are those indestructible books that you can wash with water! They seem to be pretty popular and Hopscotch usually has several different titles from that series. The last time I visited in September 2021, the inventory had expanded quite a bit since I was in the previous year. They have lots of toys, games, apparel, bath and body products, and accessories for younger kids (newborn to about 5 I would say). I didn't notice many options for big kids (12+). I did notice that there are a lot of items in the store that I've never seen before, but I also don't regularly shop at other children's stores. I like that they stock locally made and sustainable items. I also like that you can shop on their website and pick up at the store! They offer curbside pickup, which is great for those not wanting to or unable to go inside. If you're buying a gift, they will bag it up with a cute flower and tag which is so helpful, especially when I sometimes am purchasing a gift on my way to the baby shower, ha!
