While in town, we wandered in wishing we had already grabbed some baked goods earlier in the day. And with a mission to acquire some meat for the grill later in the day. Immediately we were met with a variety of whoopie pies (we got a traditional one and cookie one, both delicious), and most of all the BEST cinnamon roll we have ever feasted on. Not only was it tremendous but it was perfectly gooey, and the buttercream (or at least that's how it tasted) frosting in lieu of traditional icing blew it out of the water. We also grabbed some chicken bacon burgers which we grilled up and really enjoyed. Just wished the patties were initially bigger. We ended up putting 2 and 2 (out of the 4) together to make burgers which would actually survive the grill. In general the selection is everything you'd imagine in Amish country combined into one little place. Prices were excellent, quality was great. Definitely stop in!

We try to always get our lion's share of meats here when we pass on through. Be sure to also try the smoked cheeses and other products. The bacon is amazing, the bologna (Lebanon, sweet and regular) is phenomenal, and the cheeses are fantastic. The unsung hero is the kielbasa; extremely lean, but exceptionally full of flavor and again that gentle smoked envelope all around it. There is nothing wrong with anything here. True, you might pay a few pennies more, and I really mean just a little bit more; their prices are still very reasonable. But it is so very worth it. This is a must stop at the Green Dragon. I hope this stand never goes away.

I called several other butchers, prior, to get pricing and I had asked for an 8 pound turkey. Weaver's had the lowest priced turkey, offered an 8 pounder and when I asked if they could half it for me, not only could they do this, but also quarter for it. I know what you must be thinking - I'm insane!! Who would do such a thing? My kidneys are thanking me, though. Most importantly, the turkey meat came out succulent, tasty and it made the best darn turkey broth, ever!

This Dominican run store offers a menu of various different sandwiches available on either a roll or as a sub. I have driven past this store numerous times but tried them one day as I happened to be in the neighborhood for work. The exterior of the store adorns colorful photos of different sandwiches and a Cuban sandwich marks the front door. You can find various snacks and drinks here as well as some basic groceries but the real reason to go is for the sandwiches. I have yet to try any of their sandwiches other than their Cuban however I have seen sandwiches that other customers have ordered and they look appetizing. Although I get tempted to try something else I keep getting drawn back to the Cuban. At $7.00 it is sizeable, delicious, and recommended. There is another small store with the same name on Woodward St. but they claim no affiliation with this location. Ironically, they both feature the same menu, same prices, and even made by the same printer. Beware when you order though if you do not speak Spanish. Usually there is one of three women manning the counter and each has varying levels of comprehension of English. One of them has gotten my order right everytime. Another got my order right but when I asked questions she had to have one of the men communicate with me. The third excluded items from my order. The second two women do not know what a traditional Cuban sandwich consists of and will ask you if you want lettuce, onion, tomato, salt, pepper, oregano, and even oil and vinegar as if they have memorized a script for taking orders for Italian subs. They even ask if you want it "toasty", meaning pressed, which of course you do...it's a Cuban sandwich!!! You may want to double check your order with the guy making the sandwiches to ensure accuracy and to receive what you ordered. Beware how you pay as well. If you pay cash your bill will total $7.00 but if you pay with debit card you will receive an unannounced additional charge. There is no signage indicating this and you will not be informed about it when paying. If you ask at least two of the women they will speak Spanish to one of the men who will then have to explain it to you. Overall, the Cuban sandwich is great. It is filling, proportioned well, and priced nicely. Their other sandwiches look good and fall in line with prices and size. If you get the Cuban, a nice compliment are the Raylicious brand garlic plantain chips they sell there. My rating is based on the Cuban sandwich but I can only imagine their other sandwiches are good too. One day I will override my inclination toward the Cuban and get something else but what will most likely happen is I will order a sub and also order a Cuban as backup.
