This was my first trip to Lancaster County, PA. My daughter and I took a buggy ride and wanted to walk to a spot for lunch. Perusing Yelp, I saw Stoltzfus (a local last name that was mentioned by our buggy guide) and it was a deli/restaurant- you had me at meat! You order at a walk up counter, get a buzzer, wait as they make it fresh, get buzzed, and pick your order up. Plenty of clean seating is available. The Philly cheesesteak was awesome! Lots of meat, tender but substantial roll, and hot! I got it sauced - this was new for me. I was thinking cheese sauce, but it was a red sauce. I loved it regardless ( my daughter wasn't as happy - not because it tasted bad, but she wasn't expecting it). We didn't have to wait to order, but once we were eating-the line was easily 25-30 deep. The eating section is called Amos' Place. The meat section is Stoltzfus Meats. A wonderland of fresh, frozen, and refrigerated meats and all the accompanying side dishes! It's already April and my wife and I's little getaway to Pennsylvania back in February continues to pop into my head. Mostly it's where we stayed (shoutout to Airbnb), but also it was the fun and different experiences/places we visited around the Intercourse/Lancaster area like Stoltzfus Meats. This store doubles as a place to eat at as well as a spot to get plenty of (I bet you can guess) meats to cook up in the privacy of your own home. Normally, a place like Stoltzfus might have been somewhere we may not have even ventured into, but wanting to spend as much time in that aforementioned Airbnb, we saw the great Yelp score of this spot and what it offered in the way of food to cook, and so Stoltzfus was visited with a meaty mission in hand. What does Stoltzfus offer (beyond just saying meat)? Well they really do have a massive selection of different types of steak, pork, chicken, and even some non-meat meals (pizzas, mac and cheese, etc.). Some items come frozen which would have worked well for us had we been staying longer than a couple of days, but we decided to hit up the counter and get some fresh uncooked items that we could make for dinner (and breakfast). Once being helped (which was quick as there were many people working) the staff member was friendly (albeit we had a little confusion about the amount of sausage types we could buy) and we were able to purchase a few different flavored-sausages, some macaroni salad, and some breakfast sausages to make the next morning. After grabbing these we looked at some of the prepackaged meats and found some marinated chicken strips to get as well. Once back at the Airbnb, we cooked everything up and the meats definitely were tender and flavorful. The macaroni salad was also pretty solid. Though nothing blew me away, the meal we made was great for the price we spent. Best item was probably the breakfast sausages we had the next morning. They were a maple apple flavor and dang were they delicious. Overall, Stoltzfus Meats did the trick for our little Airbnb getaway. Perhaps not a place we would have ventured to if not staying in a location that warranted some potential cooking, I am still glad we got to experience Stoltzfus and would definitely return if we did end up back in that part of the Pennsylvania state with the need to make a meal. Even if I physically don't come back, I know my mind will at least continue to return here! read more

Ate here for a late lunch. Ample seating right by the ordering counter. There are high top seat with a counter, tables and chairs, and there's even overflow seating towards the premade food area. It wasn't busy when we arrived so we didn't have to wait to place an order. The restaurant area was clean. Our high top counter area was neat and clean. It was refreshing seeing employees cleaning their work space and keeping the food prep area tidy. The food was hot and delicious. I got the chicken bacon ranch wrap. Although it comes with tomato and onion, I did not have that on my order, which was fine. I do wish that they would put lettuce in the wrap. It was still good. Instead of chips, I opted for coleslaw as a side. One of the best coleslaws I've eaten. It's finely chopped cabbage, with a hint of sweetness, and it's creamy. Not too creamy to be overwhelming but just enough so it's not dry. Perfect blend and texture of coleslaw that's hard to find. My husband got the cheesesteak with sauce and side of coleslaw. We tried the potato wedges which were too bland. It was a lot of potato with no flavor. It may have sat under the heat lamp too long, it just wasn't good. Overall, the main sandwiches were good. We stopped for what was supposed to be a light lunch in the cafe called Amos' Place connected to Stolfus Meats. They have indoor and outdoor seating, some under a gazebo. I had a half sandwich of ham salad on homemade white bread and a cup of ham and bean soup. Both were delicious and more than filling. My spouse had a broasted chicken thigh and a small cup of macaroni salad. Again, it's delicious. They have Pepsi products at the self-serve fountain And white Birch beer, which is common around here. If you don't know what that is, it's has somewhat of a root beer flavor. You really can't go wrong with the food they're cooking up for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. I don't know how anyone could leave Stolfaus Meats without bringing home some goodies either. read more

I ordered a turkey breast from Stoltzfus Meats (Website) because I was hoping to avoid the additives that are in other frozen turkey products in the grocery store. Their website says this is an all natural turkey. See my photos. Butterball's whole turkey tenderloin ingredients are: whole turkey tenderloin, water, contains 2% or less of salt, sugar, natural flavors (including vinegar). Stoltzfus' boneless turkey breast roast ingredients are: Turkey, up to 28% marinade of salt, sodium phosphate, hydrolyzed corn protein, onion powder, dextrose, natural spice extractives (including celery seed). I thought I was purchasing a better product straight from the farm- guess not!! I am extremely disappointed and will not purchase another item from them! Their advertising is misleading and false. I have emailed the company- and received a response that states it's claims on their website are true. Yet their ingredient list states: 100% brined boneless turkey breast. They do not list other ingredients. They questioned my concern about their ingredients but offered no remedy for taking my $85. Beware!! They do not think their customers should know things like dextrose, hydrolyzed corn protein (used in cosmetics), and sodium phosphate are in their meats. Do your research people! read more

After leaving a disappointing visit to Kitchen Kettle, we crossed the street and went into Stoltzfus Meats. I bought different snacks, cheeses, fruits, meats and sauces for half the price and picked up very good bakery goods and gluten-free (and regular) Whoopie pies. As they say go where the locals go. Yesterday was my third time earning lunch here. We go to Lancaster a few times a year. First two times I got the Philly Cheesesteak and loved it. This time I didn't. Roll was only half filled with meat, which was over cooked. Hardly any cheese at all and only got about 12 fries. Felt ripped off. And they raised the price of 8" cheesesteak from $9.99 to $10.99. So they raise the price and give you less I should have complained but we took our friends there and told them how great it was. Next time I will. read more

We stopped in for lunch on Friday 7/11, while waiting for our hotel room to be ready nearby. I had the 3 piece fried chicken and my wife had the ham and cheese melt. Both were delicious. After lunch we shopped the market and scoped out what we wanted to purchase before we headed home. Prices are inline with normal supermarkets, but quality is in the look and taste. When your looking for a little bit of everything and can get some lunch you totally know that you came to the right place! This market was totally where it's at as they have a ton of different goodies here some cheesy some meaty and some totally random like there's totally something for everyone! We bought a good amount of items here after lunch which was very yummy of those scrumptious lunch items I went with their jalapeño bacon cheese burger it was good the meat was flavorful the hun was super soft like soft to the point where it was just yummy with each bite of that burger it wasn't spicy at all though which was the only real downside but it was still yummy! The cheese curds we ordered were also super good as the cheese was cooked perfectly and had some yummy flavor to it even more so when dipped in that yummy dill ranch that came with it! We stopped in for some meat for dinner and found their selection to be very good. We picked some premium pork chops that were highly marbled. I have never in my life seen marbled pork chops... they were a bit more than the plain chops, but they looked good. I cooked them to 130 degrees on a grill with a cast iron pan. They were without doubt the most delicious pork chops I have ever had. That alone made the trip worthwhile. One of my favorite places in Amish Country! Whenever we're in the area we stock up on cheese, meats and more! This visit, we decided to also grab lunch from the connected Amos' Place. My mom and I shared a Ruben and the hubs got a spicy chicken sandwich. He thought his sandwich was incredible! I loved the Ruben but thought it could have been griddled more. They came paired with Good's Potato Chips as a side. These are locally made and the first time we've had them. They are very good! We ended up grabbing a full bag which they sell inside. I also tried their famous lemonade this visit, after seeing it mentioned on a Yelp review and it was perfection! I love the fresh squeezed lemonade you get from fairs, and this was exactly like it. This place is right across the street from the Kitchen Kettle . It's a great place to get a delicious lunch. Besides the restaurant it is also a market with fresh and frozen foods , baked goods and a butcher shop . We have stopped here for a quick lunch before and we have never been disappointed. The service is great and the prices are very reasonable considering the touristy area you are in ! I ordered the chicken corn soup and roast beef sandwich on their homemade roll . The soup was a bit peppery but hot ,delicious and packed with noodles and bits of chicken .The sandwich was made well it had plenty of roast beef and the roll was soft and tasty. I was driving back from Shady Maple Farm Market and saw a sign for Stoltzfus Meats, which came highly recommended. I stopped in and can see why! There is a lot of fun sauces, condiments, etc. as well as a good selection of bulk items and some baked goods (shoofly pie and whoppie pies). There are cheese and various meats (of course!). What is out on the floor are pork and chicken items. The butcher section has some fresh cuts and this is where you will find the beef. I ended up getting a pork chop that was delightful and purchased some grilling sausage to take back. They carry ice packs, if you need to purchase any for driving back to your points of destination. There were several people having lunch outside when I stopped by. They have a small seating area inside and outside. The cafe is to the side of the cashier. Inside there is also a small restaurant with homemade-style breakfast, lunch, and dinner selections. The restaurant is set up like a cafeteria where you order food at the cash register and wait for your food at a table if you did not opt for takeout. They have a great menu with lots of options for sandwiches & wraps, but also salads and other foods. I ordered the Smokey Pork & Apple Salad... which I was a tad apprehensive of, until I tasted it - it was SO good! What a nice combo: yummy pulled pork, with a healthy salad. Quality meats, juices, and quality desserts! I didn't know there was a place in Intercourse. I just knew about the one in New Castle, which I would get this upside down pineapple combination pie. I haven't been able to go to that place in a long time and I was hoping they'd have it at this location, but they did not. Nothing too non-mainstream like that for the pies, and maybe the pandemic caused some things like that to be lacking in supply.
