Below average pasta place. Interesting appetiser trio of olives, pickled veggies and sundried tomatoes. Quite nice! But the vongole pasta was overcooked, dry and pretty bland. Turns out all the seasoning went into the carbonara, which was very heavy on the salt and and a bit scrambled. :( Pretty terrible for the price charged, compared to other pasta places. Service was ok, but could've been more attentive given the place was nearly empty. Staff seem like nice people though. Maybe give the pizzas a go instead of the pasta, the woodfire ovens looked like the real deal.

Margherita Pizza. Yummy!

FANTASTICO! What a great Italian restaurant. Our servers were young and attentive and Italian. We had a Margherita Pizza & Tagliatelle alla Bolognaise and both were outstanding. Gelato for dessert. This is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to in a long tome. Location - 5 STARS Food - 5 STARS Value - 3 STARS Service - 5 STARS Ambiance/Decor - 4 STARS

Tricolore pizza; a must try

Buon appetito, indeed! I had a great dining experience here today with my family. Decently priced restaurants that are open late on a Sunday are very rare in downtown Sydney, so I was already excited about eating at Appetito. The decor was classic and tasteful, with both upper, lower, and outside seating options available. We opted to sit outside in the back, located in an alley in the Rocks. Our order came out extraordinarily quickly considering how busy the restaurant was, and our waitresses were wonderful. Now, on to the food: Insalata: delicious greens and grapes; no regrets here. Also, the perfect amount of dressing. Tricolore pizza: the most delicious dish of the night! It's a thin crust with very little sauce, but everything from the crust to the three toppings worked together perfectly. I would come back to Appetito just for this. Risotto (special): slightly al dente rice with an interesting creamy sauce. However, even for a rather small portion, the flavors became a bit too overwhelming by the end of the meal. Fettuccine: wider noodles than I'm used to seeing, and a milder flavor overall. Decent, but probably wouldn't get again. Overall, a great dinner!

"Ignore" hahaha

Food was good but our main waiter was pretty dismissive and confrontational. I wouldn't recommend this place over the numerous other options in the rocks area. There were two assisting waitresses who were great and very attentive, however. The main waiter (Carlos?) was openly annoyed when we asked him to correct an error in our bill. He said, ".... But It's only $1 different..." to which my thought was, "right - it's just $1 different" haha. Overall it was fine but we were ready to leave after our interactions with our waiter. Interesting extra detail - the receipt said "ignore" for our table. That might explain why our waiter was tough to find during the meal! :)

Great Italian in the Rocks area. We sat upstairs as it was a fairly busy Friday night and we didn't have a booking. This was just bear the kitchen and was fairly warm however the main dining areas were lovely and cool. There are outdoor seating areas out the back which would be nice for a warm evening meal. The service was fairly prompt and friendly. The food was homely Italian with fresh flavours and ingredients. Well worth checking out this Italian for a nice meal with friends or a quick lunch during the week when they have lunch specials :)

One of my favourite places. The service is impeccable and the staff are always so pleasant. Love their Italian wine list. Food is pretty good too.

Loved this place, the food was authentic and the staff was very friendly especially Mike. He gave us a tour of the entire building and treated us to two delicious espressos. The food and wine we had was delicious. I recommend it and ask for Mike.

Incredible setting, near the Harbour Bridge and the Rocks market. Very tasty pizza made to order. Courteous and prompt service. A bit on the pricey side.

Apetito's Friday special $10 burger

My husband and I took advantage of the daily special in the Apetito bar, which happened to be $10 burgers on Fridays. I had a chicken burger and my husband had hamburger. The burgers were great and we received excellent service from our server. If I am ever back in the Sydney area again, I would try Apetito's Italian food in the restaurant downstairs as they nailed the burgers.

Pizza bread was a great starter!

An awkward 20 second silence ensued, then - ding! - a little lightbulb went on as I realised he was the front counter guy from Pizzeria Rio. Let's quickly gloss over the fact that I ordered pizza so often from my local woodfire joint that they recognise me out and about, and focus on the impressive aspect of this evening encounter: the service factor. Clearly, these guys pay attention to who prefers their 'Venice' topping chicken-free - leaving a delicious and vegetarian combo of artichoke, mushroom, pesto and olives - with an oh-so healthy side of garden salad. (Yes, that's also me). I love that they use a homemade tomato sauce as well as low-fat mozzarella in toppings to help you out on the guilt front. And how can one possibly not enjoy a pizza that arrives to your door in the shape of a square? To your door on Upper Pitt Street, that is.

Aside from the unique square bases this is traditional pizza - that's not to say Napoli traditional, but Friday night with a footy-game and a foil-wrapped garlic bread traditional; simple combos that make sense instead of strained gourmet monstrosities. The toppings are never oily or cheese-drowned, and the fresh bases are perfect: neither cracker-thin nor dense and bready. As I say, you can eat in - they might even give you a plate - or go for home delivery, but this is the definitive Australian take-out pizzeria: it's warm and bustling and heady with mouth-watering smells of the pizza oven. The perfect place to duck in for a cameo before everyone's sacred night of indulgence: pizza night.

He explicitly told us the kitchen closes at 10:30 PM (despite the hours on the door stating 11 PM). We clearly said we would return around 10 PM to sit down for pizza and a beer. He acknowledged this and said it was fine. We returned at 10:02 PM -- and suddenly the story changed. Now it was takeout only, and apparently there "wasn't enough time." When we showed him the time on our phone, he laughed and dismissed us. This wasn't confusion or bad timing -- it was blatant dishonesty followed by rude, arrogant customer service.
