We had hoped that we could stay in our hotel one night during our recent stay in Sydney but still get our favorite food. Pizza! What arrived was far and away an inadequate substitute. The crust was paper thin and burned. The tomato sauce was thin and watery. It was stuck to the top of the box which probably wasn't the pizza parlor's fault but it just served to make us that much more disappointed. There is a dine in section next door with a bar which is nice, but at times it can be quite busy/full. You can dine on the street and sit on milk crates for the 'original' experience. I swear Yelp is fantastic with helping me find these hole in the wall places, but Google maps might not be doing so great with these side streets. Luckily after venturing to the back side of the building we were able to find this place. At first glance you think that they only do takeaway but they have a restaurant next door as well as appropriately named. My husband got the sausage pizza and I got the penne bolognese. I have high standards for Italian food and am definitely looking for a certain taste, and it didn't really meet my expectations. I think I make better pasta. My husband's pizza was decent but it's hard to compare to places that have an abundance of pizza restaurants in which Sydney does not. The garlic bread however was a winner for the both of us. Probably the best Gamberi I have tasted. YUM. Their pizzas are obviously the most popular on the menu, but do not be afraid to try their pastas. They are awesome too. The Boscaiola and Polpette (Veal Meatballs) are delicious. Reasonable prices as well. Why pay $10-12 for take away pasta at a food court when you can add couple more $$ to the bill and get real, authentic Italian food? Get in early before peak times, especially on Fridays during lunch time. Good luck getting a table due to limited amount of seats but you should be ok finding a crate to sit on. I was lucky enough to be introduced to Made in Italy pizza at a work lunch - whether visiting suppliers are catering for us, or if we're doing team lunch or after work food, this is the team favourite. This is honestly the best pizza I've had in Australia (Grimaldi's in Brooklyn is still my ultimate though!) with a delicious thin base, simply but delicious tomato base sauce, and the perfect amount of topping. I think an amazing margherita is a true indicator of a pizza restaurant's greatness. The margherita is delish and absolutely my favourite, and I can also vouch for the Americana, Capricciosa, Tropicale, Meatlovers and Spinachi. I haven't tried the pasta as the pizza's just too good! The set up for this place is a bit confusing. We walked up and it looked like they only did take away. But if u go 2 doors down, they have a restaurant. You basically have to hover and wait for someone to get up in order to get a table. It was a Friday night and pretty busy but we only waited 15 minutes. You know a place makes good pizzas when you attend a few different meetups events in the city and they all get their pizzas from the same place. Made In Italy is that place and I learnt about it while attending a meetup event in Sydney and now I go there whenever I feel like pizza. They seem to be open longer than most eateries in the city on a weekday evening and the pizza is made fresh to order and it takes about 10mins for the pizza to be ready. They're quite popular as the last time we were there, we could see that they were making a large number of pizzas. Great laneway pizza place hidden near Wynyard station. The crust is really thin and topping generous. You have to be prepared to sit on milk crates to eat because they have limited seating. I don't even think the milk crates are deliberate seats. The supremo and pollo are my favourites. Better value to order the larger sized pizzas especially if sharing with others.
