ATTENTION ALL DANCERS (not go-go's or strippers): Here is your dance heaven! From the moment the sperm joined the egg, it danced around in embryonic fluids for 9 months (10 in my moms case). As a matter of fact I recently found out that I danced my way out of my mother's uterus. So, no I wasn't born with one white glove and a black sequin zip up blazer, but I have been movin' and groovin' since I was a tot. My mom threw me in ballet class when I was TWO YEARS OLD; yes two, because I had so much damn energy, and my flexibility was in severe need of proper usage. Today I can wrap both legs around my head, but that's a different story. As I danced all these years I always needed various types of dance apparel and this store was the go-to spot. I can't even estimate the amount of years that my mother and I have been coming here. They sell so many types of dance related attire here: body suits, costumes, dance shoes in every type, toe bunnies, leotards, custom designs/colors, ribbons, hair goodies, and just plain "dance representation" for those die- hard dancers (like myself). To this day I still dance. I don't dance as much as I used to because of a hectic schedule, but soon I planned to get paid to dance! About three years ago I was on my two college dance teams (both in which I attend(ed)), and a professional (yes paid) ballet company; point blank this is where I come/came for ALL my dance needs. The employees are professional, and I believe most of them are dancers themselves. If you walk in here with no prior dance history (I'm not talking about shaking it up in the club, I'm talking about REAL dance experience) you will think your paying a grip for what you are buying, but the truth is dance apparel is NOT cheap. I can't speak for other Dance supply stores because this is the only store I've ever shopped at, but maybe there is cheaper out there... I'll never know because I'm clapping for applause! read more

I buy all of my dance wear here, and have for years! As a dance teacher I use a lot of shoes and leotards and tights, and they keep me well supplied. The owners are lovely, and they know how to fit shoes properly. They also have nice dance gifts for young dancers, and a good selection of dance wear for adults. Great place!!!! (Good parking too, and easy to find on a main street.) I know what I need, so I could shop online, but I would much rather support my local and excellent retail dance shop. read more

For the past 15 years, I have gone to Applause for dance attire, gifts, Halloween accessories and even for my wedding (ballroom shoes is the way to go)! The staff is personable, professional and truly willing to help; it is obvious that they genuinely want you to be happy. Over the years, I have gotten to know the owners, Theresa and Melissa; and their dedication to upholding quality customer service is evident. They are caring, friendly and reliable. Anytime that I have needed anything, Melissa is always going above and beyond to ensure that I get it, or find some sort of solution. I'm sure that you can find dance items online at a lesser cost, but there is something invaluable about walking into a small business and having a conversation, learning about the products and getting advice from professionals. So for me, I would rather pay a little more (mind you- their prices are extremely reasonable for the dance brands they stock) and have the piece of mind that I purchased the right item. This shop is terrible. I went to the shop to search for a gold unitard for my daughter for a performance what will go on very soon. They don't have any gold ones. Only orange and other colors. The personal there told me they never had gold unitard, nor leotard. I ordered a green one instead but after I go home and checked their online store, there were a variable of colors, including gold and orange. I ordered the gold one and cancel the green one. Today it was shipped and it is orange!!! I called they said it is what is called 'gold' and refuse me for return for cash even I can't change it into anything useful in time. I have to say this shop is color-blind and rude. My experience is TERRIBLE. Communication is miss-leading, service is extremely poor. read more
