I was looking to upgrade my phone since my iPhone 13 wasn't really capturing good quality pictures. The last time I went to an Apple store was when I got the iPhone 13, so I had to refresh my memory on the process and appreciated that someone was checking in on me as I was setting up the new phone and transferring all the data. I got the 17 (about $800) and so far it's working well, although I've noticed the battery already drains a bit faster than when I initially had my brand new iPhone 13 (battery had lasted 2 days). I hope it'll at least last me the 4 years or so that was my previous phone's lifespan. During the same visit, I was able to take a few classes on using the camera and video features which was nice. You can find out what classes are scheduled in the Apple Store app. Trading in my old phone was also a seamless process. Finally, I had an Apple watch query and was able to do a tech support (Genius Bar) walk-in appointment which I did some of the above activities during the 30 minute wait for the appointment. Some of the staff members were more helpful and engaged than others, but for the most part everyone was very enthusiastic and supportive. The customer service is quite personalized, professional, and 1 on 1, except when you get the occasional staff member who starts helping other customers because they don't know how to help with your issue and before your issue has been resolved, and then you're stuck waiting for them/someone to be available to close the loop on your issue because none of the other staff members look/acknowledge you. That said, the Genius Bar staff (shout out to Terrance) were amazing! It felt very collaborative, and I was able to be helped more efficiently. Overall, my time was well spent, and I trust this place to deliver good service and products and know which person to avoid. read more

Got myself the iPhone 16 Pro for my birthday a few weeks back! Good experience overall. The staff member that helped us initially was effective, helpful and efficient in helping us transfer everything over from the old phone. One thing to note though- for some messaging apps - make sure to check that all the messages actually transferred over. Luckily I checked and while I could see the different chats, when I went into them there were no messages. It takes some time for everything to download and you have the keep the app open. When the staff did it - it hadn't completed, so it's good to double check. Other than that one issue overall service was great! Another staff member also helped us with the new phone setup. She was also very helpful. Overall it took us a couple hours in the store but we got everything done and I came away with my brand new phone. The store itself is very nice bright light and airy, especially the glass spiral staircase- very futuristic! Took some cool photos of it and next to it. Lots of stations to try out the different phones and many staff to help you. Overall good experience! read more

Arrive about 20 minutes from their opening of the store on a Monday. There are nine employees standing around with their hands in their pocket and only one addressing the customers. After about five minute wait I finally get service only to be told that they won't be able to help me replace a battery for my iPhone and one for my iWatch for another hour and 45 minutes? They also mentioned that their chances that they'll have to take my Watch and send it to another location to get the battery replaced. Wonderful experience! read more

I had a surprisingly positive experience getting a new phone here. Every step of the process was clearly explained by Dennis, Michael, and Nate. They were very patient when I had to call my credit card company to confirm that I wasn't being scammed :) Dennis even brought me a phone to use because both my old and new phone were involved in the transfer. Came to the genius bar here for an issue with my device, and they sent it out to get it fixed for free since it was still under warranty. My device was ready for pickup just four days later in working condition again. The only downside was that there was a long wait to pick up my device (25 minutes on a Saturday evening), though the representative did explain that her previous appointments had run long. Overall, the store staff were all very friendly, calm, and helpful despite how busy the store was. I would come back again for any other Apple needs or purchases. read more

I went to store due to locked my phone. Yesterday I lost my 13 pro max and I let AppleCare knows, they said you should contact with insurance ( AppleCare ) I said them hey I lost my phone could you lock it please they said yes. And ask Do you wanna get new device. I said yes. They said 149$ deductible I said it's fine and I paid for that. After couple hours later my main phone which is 17 Pro Max got locked middle of the nowhere. I got shocked I couldn't even find my home it took 2 hours without map. I just moved to new area. Anyway I called apple support they couldn't fix then they got appointment for me and said Apple Store will fix your issue. After day I went to Apple Store they send me to Genius Bar, but they were horrible nobody is kind polite nothing. All they said we cannot help you call costumer service, I said I called them they send me here. Anyway it was horrible experience for me. I try to call Apple Store but I can't able to use my phone which is 17 pro max. They lend me phone I called support we talked about more than an hour. They couldn't fix either. But sometimes bad things happens. I had to buy brand new 17 PRO MAX I paid with my credit card. But the insurance company will pay for it. If they don't I gonna sue them, for sure. Last thing about security, they are not professional either because I asked them kindly I need to use restroom, security said go basement. When I went to basement they said you can't use restroom because it is not public ??? Security send me here how can I know? So I need its urgent I need pee, they didn't care . This is a beautiful Apple store (and I mean beautiful!). So much natural light, two stories with a grand spiraling staircase. It's literally such a nice place to be when picking up your favorite Apple products. I mean if you're going to be spending the money, you might as well be in a nice place right?! Apple nailed it at this location. The store has all the major Apple products (iPhones, iPads, iMacs, Apple watches, Airpods, etc.). Great for getting the new products or taking your items in for repair. The staff at this location has always been great when I go in. Helpful and pretty efficient. I appreciate the online order pick-up and try to schedule ahead any Genius bar appointments so I can avoid the wait times that can come up with walk in appointments sometimes. read more

Defective Apple Watch, Genius Bar appt: My family bought a 2017 Apple Watch, valued at $399... and then proceeded to misplace it. This Summer, five years later, I found it behind the bookcase... and was thrilled... until I tried to use it. The watch would neither charge nor turn on. I went in person to the Apple store, told the employee my problem, and was assured that, if I made an appointment with their "Genius Bar," they WOULD help me.... And was told to "get there early." I wait another week for my appointment, and go back to the Apple store again, early as instructed... only to find THEM running late. A half an hour later, the so-called "Genius" asks if I've tried to charge it. I assure him I did, but it does not charge. He plugs in his own charger and confirms I am correct. Then, he proceeds to tell me my only option is to pay them $200 more to send my BRAND NEW, NEVER USED APPLE WATCH for repairs! "Why did an Apple employee waste my Time by having me make an appointment with you," I asked him. He replied, "I don't know!," seeming as frustrated as me. "I don't know what you want from me," he continued, "There's nothing I can do for you." We already paid $400 for their Apple Watch and they have no proof it ever worked at all. Next, the Apple "Genius" blames me for the watch problem because I didn't start the watch for five years. Both the Apple employees told me Apple watches won't work if you don't start them for a "long period"... but couldn't say what amount of time that meant. $400 for a watch that stops working if you don't use it for an undefined period? $400 for a Watch that we have no proof ever worked. The reason I always buy Apple products is service after the sale. You know how you get sooo many updates on the IOS? Usually there is mention of a security update so I always update immediatley. Once you do that, sometimes you notice the navigation of some features has changed. It's not always that critical to figure them out but when you are traveling and need your iPhone at peak performance it's a necessary tool. I was there at 10am when they opened and there was an army of Staff on hand to help a line of people who had gathered. I was able to quickly get excellent service who fixed my issue and i was on my way with a smile on my face. Thank you! read more

I love all things Apple, but I have been trying to get through to a human being at the Boylston street store multiple times tonight and both times, after going through the automated assistant, the phone has rung for more than 20 times without anyone ever picking up. This is not the Apple I know. Once I've given information to the automated agent to triage, the phone has rung more than 20x on two occasions and no one picks up. Placed an order online for a MacBook Air + some accessories. Since it was after noon, the appointment was set for the next day, even though there was same day pick-up available. I set up the appointment, but I was a little anxious so I called Apple and asked if the items were in stock and if there were any appointments available same day. They were able to find one appointment available 2 hours later, so I booked it. When I came in, there was a small line for pickup. I was greeted by within 3 minutes. He went to the back, and retrieved my order and I was ready to leave within 5 minutes of walking in. I decided to take a little time setting it up and checking out accessories in store rather than online. I came back and had a few questions, and there were 3 people available to help. They provided amazing customer service (which isn't always the case) and I was extremely happy with my experience & purchase. read more

What a beautiful Apple store, one of the nicest I've seen. It's all glass exterior and spiral staircase that goes all the way up three floors is just breathtaking. Staff are hit and miss here, especially the ones trigger happy on on locking the doors early to keep customers out--not nice. But, for the most part, I've had very good experiences here. Inside the store were only a few people inside and they are the ones who had appointments. We told the people at the door that checked us and also our temperature that it's only a quick pick up so they let us in right away. I needed to purchase a new MacBook Air and recycle my old MacBook Air, so I decided to stop by this location. It is a gorgeous store and has an elevator to accommodate those that need that type of access. Upon walking in, there were three staff members standing there and not a single one made an attempt to greet me. However, I kept moving to the MacBook section and was warmly greeted by two staff members who were ready to help. One of them eventually left to help another customer, but I was given the full attention of the other staff member, who answered all my questions in a kind and courteous manner. I was taken care of and was also directed where to recycle my old computer. That staff member was also kind and made friendly conversation while ensuring me that my old computer was wiped clean. As a bystander to my WomanBaby's appointment (she was assisted within 5 minutes from checking in), I took myself on a self-guided tour & became sociable with the employees at the Genius Bar. Who would have thought, a collective bar full of Apple experts who are eager to assist & educate while beaming contagious smiles. For someone who is extremely behind the Apple wave, (only on my 2nd iPhone, circa 2011), this colossal of a retail store was slightly overwhelming, yet in a good way. There are many product test stations, table & cushioned stools where you can play on tablets & charge your devices almost anywhere throughout the store. Apple's community effort is A+ with just a few of the free programs offered: * Kid's Hour - Making Movies Together * Teacher Tuesdays - App Design & Code Basics * Basic Apple Watch Tutorial Kudos to Brandon & Matt, the Tech Specialists assisting my WomanBaby with their transparency on the cost ratio for repairs vs purchasing & the 411 on trading in your products. Very disorganized. Would've never expected Apple to be this slow/ disorganized. Getting items delivered instead of picking up in the future. I cannot even begin to express my disappointment with my iPhone 14 Pro Max and the abysmal customer service provided by Apple. It has been an agonizing journey since the day I purchased this phone in March, and the camera issue has transformed my daily life into a tech-induced nightmare. The primary issue at hand is the iPhone 14 Pro Max's camera, which has never worked as it should since the moment I unboxed it. I visited the nearest Apple store, hoping to find a solution to my camera problems. The Apple "genius" advised me that it could potentially be resolved with a simple software update and that they had never seen this issue. They instructed me to wait and see if it would magically disappear with a software update. If not, they surmised it might be a hardware problem. I continued to use the phone, only to find that the camera issue persisted, and the phone was unusable for work where I use the camera or to capture memories on trips. I returned to the Apple store to address this concern. However, what followed was a confounding experience in which Apple employees, and the manager, seemed utterly clueless about their own product. The manager suggested yet another software update, as if this were the cure-all solution for every problem under the sun. I told him that this was affecting my career working clinically at Harvard Medical School on daily basis and that the most efficient solution would be preferred. He said that in order to abide by Apple's goal to reduce waste they would have to go through individual components to replace one at a time and that they would, even if the issue was present since the purchase of the phone, never replace the originally defective device as a whole. Again I was told this "might be a camera issue or a software issue and that he did not know." This back-and-forth, wishy-washy approach to solving a seemingly straightforward problem is mind-boggling. Apple, you've let me down on all fronts with this debacle. It's as if you're not taking the concerns of your loyal customers seriously anymore. The camera issue has left me feeling like I've wasted my hard-earned money on a subpar product, and the customer service experience has been a nightmare. To those considering purchasing an iPhone 14 Pro Max, please think twice. You might be rolling the dice with your money and sanity. I'm still hopeful that Apple will come through and rectify this situation, but for now, my iPhone 14 Pro Max is a constant reminder of the disappointment that can arise from trusting a brand that used to be synonymous with excellence. Oh, let me not forget to mention the sheer amount of time and frustration this iPhone 14 Pro Max ordeal has cost me. It's not just the money but also the valuable hours of my life that have been squandered on this seemingly unending issue. Well over 12 hours of my life to addressing the camera problem alone. Countless hours on the phone waiting for appointments, multiple visits to the Apple store, and waiting around for software updates to work their supposed magic. It's as if my life has been put on hold, waiting for a resolution that never comes. And as if this weren't enough, I was condescended by the unempathetic manager at the Apple store. He appeared indifferent to my frustration and treated my concerns with an incredibly dismissive attitude. It's disheartening to see a brand that once prided itself on top-notch customer service now treat their customers as mere inconveniences. Not to mention, instilling these values in their staff in order to fall back on "reducing waste" when convenient for them. Apple, you've got some serious work to do to regain my trust and, I'm sure, the trust of many other disgruntled customers including many of my colleagues. This whole experience with your product and your customer service has left me feeling like my loyalty to your brand has been taken for granted. Personally I've never had a bad experience at an Apple Store, other than spending too much. Ha! Branding is something Apple does a great job at. You walk into a store here on Boylston Street, it feels the same as a store in Cali or Minnesota. Perhaps the difference is the staff but they are all trained with the highest standards.
