Brought my older macbook in to have them remove malware and get it cleaned up. Had an appointment and was taken right on schedule. The place was packed and loud but our guy (Joe ) was great and very knowledgable and fixed my laptop quickly. He didn't make us feel like old dinosaurs (which we are !) and gave us tips on how to avoid problems in the future. So glad we decided to take it in. I have had an Iphone for about a year and a half now and when I first purchased my Iphone I bought Apple care along with it like any 21 year old would do. A couple months after I had received my Iphone 4S, there was some water damage causing some buttons to work. I went to this Apple store and they gave me a new one free of charge saying it was protected under my Apple care. A few weeks ago, my phone screen cracked so I went to the Apple store and they said that I would have to wait 2 hours for an appointment to get a new phone that would only cost me $50 under my Apple care. Since Apples convenient location on King Street, it was not hard to waste 2 hours. Once I met with a representative, they told me that I did not have Apple care and that the free phone I had received about a year ago was under there year long warranty. I was a little confused because my parents and siblings all have Apple products and we buy Apple care of all of them. They looked into my account and noticed that I had purchased Apple care and then they canceled it the same day which makes absolutely no sense to me. After waiting around in the store for another hour for them to figure it out, I called Sprint (my cell phone provider) and they told me right off the bat that I had an upgrade and they were confused as to why the employees at the Apple store had not informed me of this. I waited around for another 30 minutes to get to someone so I could buy a new Iphone and it took so long that I had to leave and come back a later day. I went back to the Apple store to use my upgrade and purchase my Iphone earlier today. Once I walked into the store they asked for my name, my pin, the last 4 of my social and my phone number and told me that I was not an authorized on the account therefore not allowing me to buy an Iphone. I left and called 2 different representatives at Sprint and they said that I was in fact authorized. I came back to the Apple store later the same day and they had to call Sprint to make sure I was authorized and it went through but then the Apple technicians said that my account was locked. Seeing this, I Sprint, my dad called sprint and the apple rep i was working with called sprint and Sprint told us that there was no way that I was locked out and that there were no holds on my account. Apple once again turned me away saying there was nothing they could do. I called sprint and they sent me a new Iphone immediately. The representatives at this store are friendly but seem to know nothing about what they are doing. They could tell I was frustrated because I had been there about 3 different times within the past week and they kept turning me down. I will never go to this Apple store unless it is absolutely necessary. Going through other retailers or service providers is much easier and definitely more stress-free than dealing with the sea of customers and the Apple representatives who when encounter a problem do not know how to fix it. read more

Went into to purchase a new I pod touch and having to being relocated to a table waiting for an Apple rep to help to help me I noticed the following things. No one seem to be given a particular task assigned to them as far to a particular apple item. The person who was finally assigned to us didn't know squat about what came with the new I pod touch and really how to activate it. Had to go on line with Apple support to get it finally ativatived. I bought a new iPhone today. The girl that helped me seemed to know what was going on. She sold me a LifeProof case for my 6s. I get home and find, 1 the case obviously had been sold before- peanut butter on the inside wrapper- and then- here is the best part- the LifeProof case is not made for the 6s, it is made for the 6! They have not made a case yet. The phone will fit, but won't work properly! Now I have to go back to the store to return the case and get my money back! read more

Store full of 30+ employees who act like a bunch 16 year olds who are too preoccupied playing games on their iPads to assist customers. This store has successfully wasted 5 hours of my time within a 3 day window. If I have any more issues with my Apple products I won't waste my time going in there ever again. Scrooge! My daughter bought a high end iphone ($1300) on 12/23 and was asked to return the next morning for old phone trade-in and iphone education (both verbally guaranteed). That morning a 2 millimeter manufacture's faint defect identified on one screen view- no refund: bate and switch! Have spent at least $10,000 at this store over the past 5 yrs. By far the worst apple store I have ever been to. The only appointment available was an hour away so I found something to do to kill an hour. After checking into my appointment I waited 30 minutes and saw others who were before me who hadn't gotten help. I also noticed many of the employees just standing around talking instead of helping people. I do not suggest this apple store and suggest you find another location for any help with anything apple, unless you want to wait over 45 once you have already made an appointment. read more

I traveled to this store from Savannah to have my phone repaired. I had my glass repaired by Apple a few moths prior and it began acting on its own and the screen stopped working most of the time. I called Apple and the made me an appointment to come in and get it checked. I spoke with Devan (I hope that was here name) nice lady and she spoke with her manager and they replaced my phone even though my warranty and expired by just over a month and the glass repair had expired by 2 months. They replaced and got me back up and running. What a class act by this store!! Thank you! read more

I have been an iPhone user and a mac book user for years, so it's easy to say I love apple products. May I make a suggestion though, instead of spending billions of dollars on new app development and new devices you may want to spend some of that on customer service training. Worst customer service I have had the unlucky opportunity to have in a long time. Little tip don't pass off customers and answer them when they ask you a question don't look past them and talk to someone else. I've owned Apple products for more than 10 years, I am utterly disgusted with the services I received yesterday at this location! I had to go to an Apple store for an incident that sprung upon me that solely was caused due to Apple's products malfunctioning. Andrew was appointed to me to assist me with my needs which he did nothing at all but had me sit inside the store for hours to only tell me to seek help elsewhere and recommended Best Buy. While I was dreadfully waiting here, Andrew was assisting another black woman and her child, and I witnessed how she left unhappy and Andrew rolled his eyes as he walked away from this woman. I found that very unprofessional and inappropriate. Clearly Andrew is not capable of doing his job since he cannot satisfy any of Apple's customers, or is it just that he does not want to help the black people? Rachel did not thoroughly look at my device when she made her decision. Therefore, Andrew assured me there was nothing else that he could do, and I was left to take Andrew's unfortunate advice of driving to a Best Buy; only to find out that Best Buy, who were following Apple's policies, told me that my issue was not as minor as Rachel at Apple simplified it and said I needed a replacement instead but they did not have any in stock. Therefore, I RETURNED to Apple because they did have my particular phone in stock but they refused to do it even after talking to Best Buy's squad AND two Apple representatives over the phone. I asked to speak to a manager, I received Gabe and he was unhelpful and disgustingly rude as well. I asked to speak to someone above him and he refused to provide me with the information and states there is no one above his level which is sad because he does not need to be in that position. The second Apple representative over the phone overheard and was just as clueless as to why they would not take care of my issue being that I have Applecare. After six hours, Andrew, Rachel, and Gabe left an unforgettable Apple experience with me and I am not sure if I will continue purchasing Apple products, I most certainly would not give this place anymore of my money nor time; it's not like I will receive any help nor will they honor their guidelines to those with applecare anyway. I have even been told by Apple employees from this location that their supervisors are racist, I think this visit solidified that. read more

The first time I visited the experience was great. I had an appointment that day. I had to take my computer in to get fixed. Service was excellent. I asked someone and they checked me in and I left knowing that my computer would get looked at quickly. Three days later they called me to let me know what the problem was. It was a expensive problem so I went to the store again to buy a new one. I didn't have an appointment. I went in and walked around for about 10 minutes and then asked someone to show me the computers. He told me he was a concierge and would find me a sales associate. 10 minutes later noone had helped me so I found someone else and they told me they would find me a sales associate. Finally after waiting for 30 minutes, I finally found someone to help me. I talked with them and they were very knowledgeable about the products. However, I didn't buy one because my dad was in a different state and he had the credit card. They wouldn't take it over the phone. read more

My watch was less than a year old and after the latest software update, one day the watch decided to cut off, and continued to loop in reboot. I did everything suggest, and nothing worked, so I connected online with an apple representative. He walked me through a few steps, which all were unsuccessful. I was then scheduled for an appointment at my nearest location. I have been in and walked by this location before and it is ALWAYS jammed packed with people. I dreaded going. My appointment was a 4:45. I walked in and waited for about three minutes before someone checked me in. I was directed to a table, however I sat at the next table because the table I was directed too was full. There were at least 8 people already seated at both tables. I sighed, thought to myself....I am going to be here all night and what is the point of scheduling an appointment. After sitting for about ten minutes, a rep walked over to me and advised that my technician should be out shortly. My tech. came about less than ten minutes later, he was super friendly....introduced himself (Andy), shook my hand, made me laugh a few times and was extremely helpful and explained the entire process with ease. My watch had to be shipped out due to a software glitch, but I was in and out in less than an hour. I would suggest making an appointment instead of walking in. The process could have also been quicker for me because it was watch related and not phone related....not sure but I was very content with my services, along with the friendliness of the staff. read more

I have been an Apple devotee since the original Macintosh brown box was introduced in the early 80s. Today when I returned to the store to ask for some help I was very disappointed. I am trading an iMac in for a MacBook Pro which is great. I failed in erasing the iMac and with a deadline for returning it, I brought it back to the store for assistance. The quickest appointment I could get was for "sales." When I arrived, because of Covid there was an outside waiting area, I explained my desperate situation and he tapped away on his iPad. Then he went into the store and returned with someone I assumed was the manager. She explained the policy several times that I needed a Genius Bar appointment which elevated my pique. I could see I was not going to get anywhere and left infuriated. A little help would have been nice. A dictum in retailing used to be that the customer comes first, with Apple it seems that the Corporation comes first. I'm still angry. read more

I broke my camera 2 days after I got the phone. This was 1 1/2 years ago after Charleston had a few days of snow. The phone never skipped a beat, never had a single issue other than the camera being obviously shattered. Even with the camera shattered the camera worked, updates updated, internet worked, everything was exactly how it should have been with my iphone 7. Then everything changed a week ago. I kept getting annoying messages about "cellular update failed" Never really understood what that meant until I couldn't play music on my Harley. Turns out its some Apple "motherboard" or something that is faulty, no fault of my own. Cool, I set up the appt at Apple for my day off and look forward to getting it fixed. Joshua is possibly the worst person I've ever dealt with in a customer service manner. He has the people skills of a brick. It took all of 20 secs for him to tell me that yes, it was apples fault my phone wasn't working, but they wouldn't fix my phone unless I paid $350 to fix my camera, the camera that hasn't ever given me a problem, or I can upgrade to the latest and greatest iPhone. To put this in my own terms. You buy a brand new car that has an inherent flaw the manufacturer knows about. That flaw puts your car in a limp mode where you cant go above 3mph. You take it to the dealership, the service writer comes out, tells you yes, we know about our faulty part that crippled your car, but you have a cracked windshield and we wont fix it until you pay $500 to replace your windshield. Easily the most idiotic thing I've ever heard, quickly followed by the fact the repair for this "faulty motherboard" apparently takes a week to fix....Easily the worst customer service experience with a phone... and that says a lot coming from somebody whose service is thru Verizon. I know we live in a day and age of people constantly throwing stuff away to get the new thing or if it breaks its immediately trashed and forgot about, but I kinda prefer the time when the $1,000 I spent on a phone is appreciated, and idk maybe have some sort of after sales customer service for people who don't constantly need the newest xyz apple product. "Well its going to be $350 or you can upgrade" should never come out of an associates mouth when I come in to have my phone fixed FOR A PROBLEM THAT APPLE CAUSED!!! read more

Was in the Apple Store on King Street (downtown Charleston) this morning dealing with a broken screen. The manager with the little round glasses was very condescending while speaking to me. Unless you are up for a verbal assault stay away from this store. He tried to make me feel like I was stupid and didn't know what I was talking about. He had no intent on finding out where I was coming from nor did her care to find out. He attempted to demean me and make me feel like I was inept and less of a person. I was very pleased with my time at the apple store. Mateo, my Genius Bar rep was wonderful and very friendly. His manager, a woman I don't remember her name, was a bit snarky, but was also very busy. I will say, that overall, the Apple corporation needs to greatly improve on their customer service. When my iPad was having issues, they refused to connect me to technical support unless I paid $20. To talk to someone?!? That's ridiculous. Also when trying to book my appointment at the Genius Bar I had to call six times. The voice activated system wouldn't connect me to a person. In this day and age I still think we should have the option to talk to a person. Though, when finally connected, the rep at the King street store was nice. But having to book an appointment online, and not have the option to book over the phone, is absolutely absurd. I know that everyone uses Apple products, but customer service from a big corporation should be better. I'm giving the King Street store 4 stars, but Apple as a company I'd only give 1. read more

Came to Apple after a disappointing experience at the Verizon Store off the IOP exit in Mount Pleasant. After months of dropping my iPhone 5S, the screen decided to act up. Two months away from the conclusion of my contract, Verizon simply told me to buy an iPhone 5S as full retail (500$+) or to file a claim (170$) and receive the phone after Tuesday. I'm not going to mention the level of customer service I received there. After consulting Apple's website, I saw it would cost $130 to fix the screen with a 90 day warranty. Luckily, I had a hundred dollar gift card that came with my air book purchase a few years ago that I was able to cash in, resulting in my fixed phone only costing a mere $30. I was in and out of the Apple Store within 30 minutes on a early Sunday morning. Fantastic people, customer service, and store. Will be coming back soon to purchase a nano. read more

I went to this Apple Store for a scheduled repair appt. After a pleasant experience on that end, my service rep asked if there was anything else that I needed help with. I told her that I would like to get some advice on protective covers for my laptop (I was there for a cracked laptop screen). She cheerfully obliged by pointing me to the shelves of covers and said someone would be with me shortly. As I waited, I looked at and read what I could about the covers on the shelves. The one I thought might work the best, based on what very little info I could gather with just looking, was on the very top shelf which I could not reach. The others were delicately displayed vertically, on end, and I feared touching them lest I create a Domino Effect. I decided to just wait for the Red Shirt to come to my aid and let them do the touching. I envisioned someone coming over to me, and cheerfully finding out my needs, maybe by asking me a few questions, and using the display models to demonstrate, discuss, compare and contrast the benefits of one over the other. And giving me fantastic advice on which type would work best for me. I was so wrong. My interaction with my assigned Customer Helper Person started off okay, as Olivia introduced herself and said she would help me. Her first question was, "Do you have your iPad with you?" I let her know I needed laptop protection. That is when her attitude and demeanor shifted. "Oh, well! We don't much at all for laptops, just what you see here, that's it, so why don't you look them over and I'll come back to see if the one you want is in stock," she replied, as she started to turn and walk away from me. She was hoping to give me the brush off. I had been looking them over for 5 minutes (which she was well aware of as I happened to notice when she was asked by her superior to assist me). I successfully got her to stay by quickly saying, "Which model is best to prevent damage from falls?" Olivia was visibly put off and told me they had these two types and unenthusiastically described what I had already figured out -- the hard case that stayed on the laptop, or the leather envelope "carrying/slip in" one. I responded that I preferred the one that would protect best from falls. (There were a few brands of each type. Perhaps one brand was better than the other? I couldn't tell by price as it was not displayed.) "They both do, that is what I've been trying to tell you," was her response, complete with a chopping type of hand gesture, striking her vertical right hand into the flat palm of the other several times. I could see the writing on the wall that her level of customer service, attitude, and willingness to help me were all only going to get worse and worse. I gently said, "Never mind. Thank you," and left her negative presence. Congratulations, Olivia. You brushed me off all the way out the door to Best Buy. I'd get better customer assistance from their website than I did from you. read more

Friendly staff, i highly recommended calling in and making a appointment if you plan and getting repair done or exchanges even purchases, this place get slammed regularly. Purchases a screen protector for my new iPhone and also had it exchanged because my mic wasn't working properly. I was in and out with a new phone and a new glass protector in less then fifteen minutes. But this would have taken hours if I didn't make a appointment. I've actually saw them turn people away and come back the following day fir walk ins. But every apple store I've ever been to is this way. Everyone wants a Apple product! read more

Why bother with an actual bricks and mortar store bless to actually offer a service? A $700+ Apple Watch just 2 years old ( Apple plan Ed obsolescence) all of a sudden has a swollen lithium battery. Walk into an Apple store at 6:30 pm. No appointment? But can't fix anyway so have to send in for repair. But need an appointment to do that? Closer to 8? The time to explain his irrational approach could have been spent submitting paperwork to send the damn watch in for repair. Seriously flawed business model. But it is a monopoly. And 15 minutes later (vs /1 hours as states6 and after ordering dinner, text comes that a GENIUS is now ready. Oh, but we only get 10 minutes to get there for THEIR customer service. So we enjoyed or dinner and ordered a competitor's version...with service. read more

I get that it's an pandemic but when I asked the guy upfront for info about the pandemic they refused to help me. I drove 30 minutes to simply view the different ipads prior to purchasing. They are seeing an extremely low volume of customers so why not answer a simple question for me? Elliot was who I saw and he refused to point me in the right direction then rudely told me I'm blocking the walk way although I was standing on the side of the road and not blocking the side walk. I mean show more consideration for some one being extremely inconvenienced. Maybe state on Google that it's appointment only so that others don't waste their time driving all the way to you. I called the store and no one answered so maybe next time state that on the automated system when calling your store. I'm really displeased with how Elliot handled this situation. I showed up at 9:45 for the store opening at 10:AM to find an Apple Tech logging in customers to create a cue, taking note of each person's needs and giving you an ETA of when you would be helped. While I sat at a table waiting to solve an iPone problem, a scheduling tech named LANCE confirmed when I would be helped...and then casually said "let me see what help you need." One minute later I didn't need to wait for help because LANCE quickly and easily solved my problem! Now that's the perfect "Apple Store Experience!" Thanks LANCE! read more

DJ led me in the right direction and his sense of humor was great. He made shopping fun, despite the minor wait on this tax-free weekend. I really don't know where to start other than to say that I'd rather go to DMV on Leeds then ever step foot in this Apple Store again. I've needed to go twice in the last week for a work phone and my personal phone. Why would one be able to accomplish both tasks on the same day? Because it's Apple. They literally try to deceive you with a ton of employees flitting here and there but there are only 2 or 3 that can actually help. No name tags or dress code to confirm they're actually employees but they're easily identifiable by their headset and willingness to push you to a table and forget about you. They wear a shirt that has the little logo on it but that's where it ends. Some are in sneakers, some flip-flops and today I saw a guy with sandals, his toe nails painted and more jewelry in his ears than my wife has in her entire jewelry box. I get the self-expression and lack of any standards but is this a business or the county fair? Spend some time teaching more than one person to take care of the more challenging issues with your customers than deciding how else we can let people be "cool" as employees. This isn't Amazon HQ where employee happiness is top priority. This is a customer service focused STORE. I'm trashing my iPhone and returning to Droid where I should have stayed. Thanks Apple Charleston. Yes I get that you're right next door to CofC and being hip is important but it looks like a circus to the professionals that are forced through your ONE working door. read more

Like most of the apple stores I've been to, I try to avoid going here unless I have to. Every time I've been to this location for something like a screen replacement for my phone and troubleshooting my computer, I have to wait an hour at the very least before a "genius" can curtly help me, regardless of booking an appointment online in advanced. Today I popped in on my lunch break to see if they had a phone and Apple Watch charging dock in stock. They did, but after waiting around for anyone to check me out after 10 minutes I just left and decided on a cheaper one from Amazon. The service here is nothing to get excited about, but they do have a good variety of Apple products and accessories in stock every time I go, and for that it's worth three stars, in spite of the teeth pulling it takes to make a simple purchase. read more

If there was a one-half star I would have used that. I received my iPad through AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Service) I needed help with getting the IPad downloaded as the iPad comes blanc. We were in charleston SC for an overnight stay and I was looking forward to my first visit to an Apple Store. It was a dissappointment. The employees were just standing about. No one welcomed us to the store. The store was filled with people just glued to their machines. There was a large poodle moving all about I thought perhaps a rescue dog however, they just lie at their masters side. As we walked down the center aisle after passing all the tables there were three people standing at the end of the tables two men and a woman in the middle, she acknowledge me and I told her my situation that the machine is blank and I would like help with setting up my new iPad. This young lady is not a pleasant woman telling me that I am wrong the iPads come ready to go just charge and turn it on. She of course is 100% incorrect. If she had done her homework, at least took a minute to examine my device she would have realized I needed the downloads. I suspect just standing around and wearing the little shirt makes her an expert. She obviously did not get proper training. I am very dissappointed with the lack of courtesy in that store. Of course my husband and I do not fit the general age group of all the young college students in the store. All the employees were all the same age as well so there will be lack of supervision. I told her that I would go to my local BEST-BUY at least there I'm a human being. I would not recommend this store until they have some folks that are computer literate and willing to help the customer. Not everyone is on the same level. I had been having issues with my iPhone 6s not charging; every time I plugged it in it would say that the accessory wasn't supported. I have multiple interviews to set up for the coming week, and was getting frustrated because my phone would charge for a little bit, then reject the charger, so it would die. I go in thinking I'm about to swear off apple products out of frustration. I talk to a guy named Julio up front, and he identifies then fixes the issues immediately (a little gunk in the charging port). Saved me a lot of trouble. Thanks again Julio. read more
