I was given an appointment with a "genius" and we made it to Chas about 15 minutes before they opened I don't really like their system of seating you at a table and one person taking care of more than one customer at a time. Between the time they take to go inside and ask a question about how to tackle certain problem and helping other people you waste a lot of time. By 1pm the place was packed like there was a Black Friday sale, I can't imagine getting there at that time. Store and tech support should be in different places but it is what it is I didn't buy any accessories because had spent a lot of time seating idle The rep that helped me though deserves the highest accolades ever given at a place where the only thing missing is a whip to direct employees and customers. I would not work in a place like this for the world I think I am being generous with three stars, nothing but problems with the IPhone 17Pro, wish I would have kept the XR I had before. I have been at the Apple Store in downtown Charleston a number of times to browse their latest model of laptops and phones and to make purchases. I appreciate that the staff are attentive and ask if I have any questions about their products. Recently, I bought a few things, and they came out to be very affordable after applying the student discount. During times when they don't have something in stock, staff made it very easy to place an order for home delivery. The only downside to their operations is that even with an appointment, it can take a while for your rep to get to you, so anticipate a longer wait time. I don't even recommend scheduling anything after your Apple appointment because who knows how long it will take to resolve issues. Otherwise, the store is clean and well kept, and they even allow customers to bring in their adorable furry animals! read more

4th time visiting - twice was for a repair on a laptop and phone, once for purchasing a cord to convert auxiliary to phone jack and a laptop converter cord, and most recently for a iPhone 17 purchase! I've utilized the scheduling option online but for the most recent trip did a walk-in. There was a handful of crew members ready and eager to help out on a Saturday morning. No wait time since we were purchasing so turnaround time was about 30 minutes. From my experience in the past, repairs can take about 2 hours so bring books or busy work to keep yourself entertained or stroll around downtown. I enjoyed my iPhone 12 mini but love to take photos so wanted something a little bigger space-wise. Zach took great care of my dad and I so kudos to his courteous, professional, knowledgeable assistance. He shared some pointers and the one I found most helpful is that my old phone could cross over to the new one if they're near each other so no hard feelings if you haven't backed up your phone in months! It was estimated 2-4 hours but once I connected to home wifi it took only 35 minutes. Overall had a quick, efficient visit. The employees are very rude. I showed up, one explained they were busy and told me to come back approximately 45 mins after I came. He gave me a specific time to come back. I came back at the exact time they told me to, and then I was directed to sit at a table. No one came to help me for an additional 20 minutes after. Once someone finally came, they tried to get me to sign a waiver preventing them from being held liable for any data loss - they read it super fast like one of those pharmaceutical commercials, and wanted me to sign without checking if I had backed up my phone (which I did not)... Finally, I was told I'd have to pay for more storage to back up my device, when, in reality, I could just go home and back it up to my mac for free! I definitely will not be trusting these employees going forward... And neither should you. When circumstances brought me to this store, I had to make a reservation online for an appointment to pick up my item. Even so, I had to wait as they had only one person working this job, apparently. After my wait, my new device and trade-in were resolved with some efficiency. I hung around to fire the thing up, and this process was surprisingly slow, and the table I found free space at did not seem to have any chargers or outlets, which is strange. Someone was giving a presentation on how to do photography with phones, but no one was really listening, so I was rather glad that the noise cancellation on my airpods prevented me from having to listen to the actual noise in this store. Some people were trying out the Vision Pro or various other things, but I was surprised that it wasn't a bigger store with more selection and more people providing customer service, given the area that it serves. My conclusion is that the lack of competitive pressure on this company seems to have enabled some complacency with regards to customer service, but my device of course does what it's supposed to. read more

I brought my iPad in for repair last week, but after looking at it, they told me it would have to be replaced. I don't expect this to happen overnight, but it would be nice to have at least a general idea when I will get my iPad back. The only information I get via email is that it will be shipped "soon" (how specific), and when I try to call the store, no one answers. I have paid my AppleCare bill every month on time for years. When I finally need service, Apple's attitude is "Screw you. We'll get it to you when we get it to you." and this store's philosophy seems to be to ignore customers and eventually they'll go away. I went into the store on Monday (12/02/24) to inquire about my iPad since no one at the store will answer the phone. I spoke with a manager named Hande who promised me she would call me on Wednesday morning whether she had any additional information or not. That was a lie. I had to drive to the store Wednesday afternoon to get an update because they still don't answer their phone there. Another manager gave me more unhelpful "information" - they can't return my old iPad, they have no clue when I'll get a replacement, and there's really nothing I can do except wait. read more

I am thankful we have an Apple Store in Charleston. They are wonderful for picking up accessories and are available for phone issues and support. The building is easy to walk by if you are not looking closely. The employees are all wear matching tops which I like and make it easy in a sea of people to find help. I was recently on vacation in Charleston & found that my phone had died but would not charge to turn on so I went to this store for a Genius Bar appointment to assist me w/ fixing this issue. When I arrived, one of the staff members stated he was going to run a few tests to figure out what the problem was. After running a few tests he stated that he was able to figure out that the phone was not going to ever be able to turn on again & that I had the option of either paying $550 for a new logic board or to simply buy a new phone. After this, I left with intentions of buying a new phone. Roughly 12 hours later my phone buzzed back to life & is now in working condition.. This is a follow-up review. I love my Apple computer and iPhone and Apple Watch. I think Apple's technical support is the best, but this particular store is not helpful. They don't follow Apple support policy, refusing to exchange a malfunctioning phone with a new one despite Apple support and post-sales telling me that they SHOULD do this for me. Instead, the representative was argumentative and did not listen to me enough to understand the mistake he was making. This is the second time that the store "policy" has been at odds with corporate. My daughter's iPhone 8 plus got the "white screen of death". We looked up all the ways to fix it or reset it at home but no luck. Carter was super helpful and I learned that had I just plugged the phone in while holding the power button down, I would not have needed to make the trek downtown to reset her phone. I went in for a specific phone and was told they were out, but I should call every couple days and check to see if they have it in stock. These guys like to lie, or whatever helps boost sales. For example, I called ahead to get a new battery on my phone because it was inflating and getting super hot. My phone also has a crack on the back from dropping it at some point. I called and communicated this and the person on the phone said its no issue and to come by for a $90 battery repair. When i got to the store for the appointment the woman who came over to help me said, that if they tried to fix it, it would fall apart when opened and there wasn't much they could do. BUT I could however purchase a brand new phone for a few hundred dollars since 'I was already there'. already knowing they were not telling the truth, I ended up saying no thanks and got it fixed at a phone repair mall stand, for $10-$20 cheaper than the falsely advertised repair, not to mention he installed a battery with no issues AND it lasts 3 times longer than the factory batteries. How can a company as big and "smart" as Apple have such a poorly run store. I ordered something online and go to pick up at the store. After lingering in the front of the store for a few minutes to check-in(because I've been once before and that was the deal), with people and employees milling all around me, I start to question whether I need to check in, am I in the right spot, do I go to the back counter, grab someone???? But then I see a bright sign that says order pickup. Ding Ding! So I go stand by that sign, still no help. I finally flag down an employee walking by who tells me I need to go check in. Back to the front of the store I go, again just standing in the front by the doors, just waiting for someone to come by and help. Finally I get checked in and told to go BACK to the order pick up sign. With ALL the signage in that store, how hard is it to put up a designated CHECK IN sign at the front so there is no guessing involved. Come on! Not every person spends their time at the Apple store and we don't all intuitively know the checkin process. Even the order pickup instructions said nothing about checking in. Stop acting like everyone knows your deal and be customer service forward. Throw a "we'll be right with you" out there every now and then and acknowledge us if you are too busy checking in someone else. read more

Was needed to replace a battery on my older iPhone. The guy told me right away it is not worth it (for who?). Then the customer service nightmare had begun. I was also thinking to buy an iPad in store. Apparently, they didn't have these in stock. It took several reps to check with me. Overall, we left after useless 45 minutes spent at the store. I placed my order online after all with less stress and attitude. I won't recommend a store to anyone unless you don't care. I can shop online and a battery replacement occurred in different place. I hate negative reviews but a store and its employees are totally deserved it. Be sure to make an appointment if you'll be waiting 3hrs. Be sure it's the right kind of appointment or they'll still make you wait 3 hours (with no sympathy to your honest mistake). Once had a 15 minute conversation trying to set up an appointment when the actual problem (when I came for said appointment) took 5 minutes to fix. My advice: do everything you possibly can to avoid going in person--online, over text, on the phone. Those services are much more timely and considerate. My first visit to look at new IPads was good and I had a very helpful sales person, but he suggested waiting a few days to purchase, due to the upcoming South Carolina sales tax holiday. He did say that they could help set up the new iPad in the store, however. I was visiting from out of state and decided to purchase it the following day. Check in was easy at the store and I told him I needed help merging to Apple IDs onto the new iPad. he sent me to another area to pick up the iPad, and told me that I could ask that person for assistance. When I arrived at the pick up area, I was rushed and told to contact Apple by phone for assistance with set up and merging accounts. After realizing she was not going to help me in the store, I left (the reason I ordered store pick up was to get help from someone in person). I very sadly shattered my phone this past week. Thought I would see what the Apple store could do. After discussing my options, I decided it made more sense to buy a new phone then pay ~$300 to repair my old one. They added me to a queue to be helped by a "buying specialist," which was about a 10 minute wait. The first staff member who came over to help me was snapping their gum and very uninterested in offering any assistance but we approached another staff member--Jeremy--and he was knowledgable, patient, and helpful! He walked me through all my options and gave me his honest opinions and helped me make a decision based on what I was going to be using the phone for. Surprise, there's an Apple Store in downtown Charleston. This one is well blended in with the surroundings and doesn't stand out much. The associates are the usual over-inked and very knowledgeable types who are happy to answer questions as you demo the products that are chained to the tables. Parking is a pain. Went to the store to buy both a new iphone and new iwatch. Was told to wait because they were short staffed. Waited and was finally introduced to an employee who could discuss the watch but not the phone. Huh? The phone lady never smiled and when I told her the aspect I liked on my present iwatch, she had no idea what I was talking about, so she wasn't sure if a new watch had that aspect. This is the worst apple store to ever exist. I had an appointment to fix a broken screen- employee did the diagnostic and said my phone was approved to be repaired and that it would take an hour for repair. I come back an hour later and my phone is "ready" but then was told that they couldn't actually fix it bc my phone was missing a screw and is out of warranty. First of all I was paying out of pocket and did not state I have a warranty and second of all the screw was not missing but was striped by the employee trying to fix my phone. The image they showed me did not resemble the phone in my hand at all...when I asked a manager what the solution would be he just stared at me and said they would not be fixing my phone.
