THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY ENTERTAINED AT THE APPLE STORE I've had my share of shattered phone screens in for repair, but that's a story for another day. Recently, I made an amazing discovery of unparalleled world-class entertainment... at the Apple Store. For starters, try walking into any Apple Store and loudly announce: "SIRI PLAY MEGHAN TRAINOR!!" Then walk out. Also, the best comedy is from the dusty old geezers at the "Genius Bar" making the poor tech guys dumber. You'll hear things like: (1) My app is saying to "Press Any Key to Continue" but I don't know where the "Any" key is?!? (2 Why does some guy named "Alarm" keep calling me every day at 6AM just to hang up? (3) How do you get the TikTok people to come film me? (4) Where did you put the numbers! (5) I'm trying to send my first email, but my daughter has the letter 'a' in her address, how do I get the circle around it? (6) HOW DO I TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK? EVERYBODY IS MAD 'CAUSE THEY THINK I'M YELLING AT THEM! (7) The calendar app is too difficult, since there's a different number of days in each month. Could you change it to have the same number of days? (8) My wife changed her Facebook status to "widowed". Should I be concerned? Pro tip: my iphones have been dropped, laundered, and driven over... and this is the go-to place to get the screen or battery replaced. I went into the store without an appointment and was told that I needed to wait an hour until the next appointment was available and I was completely fine with that. There was something wrong with my son's phone and they were able to fix it once our appointment was available. I am very appreciative of the person who helped us. I wanna say his name was Eric but I'm not 100% sure. There were many people in the store, but I'm just really glad that they were able to accommodate us without an appointment. read more

Went to the Genius Bar at this location and the tech we had named Tess was super helpful. I made an appointment online and showed up a bit early. There was a little bit of a wait but not a big deal. Tess was able to fix my daughter's MacBook good enough that it didn't need to be sent out for repair. Would definitely come back here if I have any more issues. read more

We have choices about where to buy our Apple products, IPads, phones, and laptops, and usually choose the Apple Store at the mall in north county, officially in Escondido. We have spent a lot of money there, mostly without regrets. Often crowded, one must be wise about when they visit, avoiding holidays and weekends, if possible. Even with care, one might have to wait a while for service, but, hey, there's whole mall to walk around while one waits. We have always found the staff to be well informed and eager to educate, a valuable asset as we are no longer young. If needed, classes are available as well. The only reason I do not give them five stars has more to do with me than them. Older and without the hearing of younger ears, it is a chatty place and that makes conversation difficult for me, but if you are middle aged or younger, the noise and energy levels should not be a problem. Even for me, it is more than a fair exchange to trade some noise for the available expertise. read more

Customer service sucks. Lady helping me with an Apple Watch blatantly lied to my face. She said they had the watch in stock and she would have someone from the back bring it out. In the same breath, she said the band was not in stock and we could get it tomorrow. No where in our conversation did she say the WATCH WASNT IN STOCK. All she said was the band was not in stock. She did not confirm the watch wasn't in stock until AFTER we paid and said we had to come back Friday. DO BETTER APPLE. read more

I bought a new I Pad there but the staff didn't offer help in using it. The box didn't contain any printed information . The fire at of this edition is totally different than my old IPad. I called the store asking for help. Then I called Apple who said the store actually had copies of the instructions. I made a special trip there to puck up the printout, but once there the staff told me that they didn't have such a thing. One salesp told me that all instructions were available on line. I asked her to print out the instructions for me. She refused saying the cost of the paper is too high, and it would waste resources. I asked to pay for the paper as I am not able to function with this I Pad. The staff was not helpful and rather gruff. I left with no help and still wanting basic instructions as to how to do basics on the unit they sold me. It was not a rewarding visit. I still don't have any help in learning about how to use this IPad. When I purchased this unit, they took my old unit which was no longer holding a full charge. In looking back, I wish they had presented other possible options - they didn't. I guess the sale was more important than a customer that is able to function. Why would Apple sell units that have no written instructions? My overall feelings were negative about the help, willingness of the employees. I also asked for a list of employees that worked there. Refused. I had expected/hoped for a much more positive experience. Maybe buying on line is a more satisfactory way to go! read more

Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend this place. The tech that helped me has been with Apple for awhile and knew his stuff.

There are three Apple Stores in proximity to yrs truly. All take approximately the same time to reach and all offer the exact same lineup of products and services. But Apple North County continues to be my go-to location. I hate to use the Goldilocks analogy but here we go. The parking is just right (vs UTC where it's not free or Fashion Valley where it's ... not available). The size is just right (has everything but not so huge and crowded that it's like a high tech DMV). Lastly, the staff here are really the best. At a recent Genius Bar appointment, they greeted me at the door, had anticipated who I was and had me set up with an expert in such a fluid way that it felt akin to magic. There's such a wonderful lack of friction at this location that it makes going to the mall fun again. Props to Genius Dylan, btw. This is the kind of experience that sets Apple apart. read more

I became an instant fan of this store following my visit. Customer service was excellent and lives up to the brand. I was greeted upon entering, explained my situation to the rep who clearly understood my issue and placed me in queue for service. The store manager helped me about 10 minutes later and then handed me off to another staff member. The "fix" was seamless and effortless, taking no more than 15 minutes later. I must say that I was in a bad spot prior to my visit because of an error that I made the day prior setting up my new Apple iPhone Pro 17. All was well when I left which made me extremely happy. I know that each situation is different and wait times depend on people ahead of you. Please be patient with staff as they try to assist you and take it easy on them in your reviews. They are only trying their best to help and they'll do everything they can to ensure that your needs are met if you let them. read more

Terrible service . Illegitimate business practices . Do not buy here, and don't trust Applecare. Have spent more time dropping off products and the fix "works" only to be sent home with the same problems . Apples policy of replacing the minimal amount of hardware to reap profits and encourage the purchasing of new devices can almost be equated to theft . Have not had any such problems with Windows or Android products and the customer service and warranties are much better . read more

I walked in to purchase a new IPhone. Put on a waiting list and browsed for 40 minutes watching other people walk in and being helped ahead of me. Did not say anything. Finally someone came to assist me and I said I want this phone the new iPhone 17. I told him I'm paying for it in full. He said do you have a trade in? I said maybe if the value is good. I showed him my trade in. He said there is a scratch on the trade in and Apple won't take it. I pointed to the sign that said they take trade ins in any condition. He smirked at me and said well you are with Cricket. That only applies to Att and Verison. He had a better than everyone attitude and the store staff were not friendly or professional. I went to Cricket and hour later and bought the New iPhone 17. Cost more money, but that's ok. Crickets service has always been good, helpful and professional. It's a matter of Buisness ethics with me and Apple has no buisness ethics. Very disappointed with the store, staff, and policies. There is very poor customer service today and is sad! My family has been buying Apple products for years. We trade in our phones every couple years but today was horrible. The woman who helped us had us wipe our phones before activating our new ones. I don't work there so I didn't know how wrong she was. The Apple Store was unable to activate our new phones because in order to do that they needed a code sent to our old phones, the ones she had us deactivate and erase. 61/2 hours later, 2 trips to the AT&T store and a second trip to the Apple Store and I finally have a working phone. Ridiculous. I've never had such poor customer service from Apple. read more

I somehow broke my iphone 14 pro max' camera lens - it was being weird and kept making all my photos look like it had astigmatism. My appt was for Monday 9/30, dropped off my phone 11AM, and picked it back up @ 230PM. I also dropped made a same day appt for 245PM to drop off my sons phone which had an issue with turning on, luckily the technicians were super patient and helped reboot it so it would turn on (NO CHARGE) My technician was both Konnor & Parker both were super helpful and did not try to upcharge on buying a new phone, and even advised me they'll see what they can do with both phones before we even think of getting a whole nee phone) A huge thank you for being so detailed with explaining the process & thank GOD for those mysterious $13.99 apple care monthly charges, it was 100% covered. My wife bought her laptop here and they let her use her student ID to get a discount! Also, they gave her a $150 gift card for making a purchase! Really awesome prices. We bought online then picked up in the store, and while we were there in person, we bought an extra hard drive and a case for protection. The employees are very nice here and willing to help. Came here to get a battery replacement for my iPhone. Apparently Apple doesn't sell OEM batteries aftermarket, and it was comparable cost to aftermarket mobile repair shops. I made an appt online for the Genius bar, checked in at the front of the store, and waited around to be helped for maybe 10-15 minutes. There were a lot of front store staff but it seemed like they were running a little short for the Genius bar. The guy who checked me in eventually came over and started my work order. I said goodbye to my phone and went out to wander the mall while waiting for my new batter. 1 hour later, I got my phone back! The new battery wasn't fully charged but it had enough power to last me for a few hours. It charged up nicely and it definitely has improved the amount of time it stays charged during the day. They also said if something happens and my phone goes funky in the first 3 months due to the new battery, they have a limited warranty and will fix it for free. read more

I never had an issue even when it was busy with no appointment. They just had me wait about an hour but I was find with that cuz it gave me time to walk and shop around. I'm a huge Apple fan, and usually I like visiting their stores. But not today. I went in to buy a new Mac Mini, the M2s are exactly what I've been waiting for. Otherwise I have no reason to visit this dying mall. I barely walked in when someone aggressively greeted me. It was very crowded, and I just wanted to look around a little before placing my order on my phone. I did not need help since honestly I know more about their products than the sales staff (if not the geniuses). So yes I'm looking for a Mac Mini, they sent me over to stand and wait for the sales child to help me. Which I did not need. There are only about six models of M2 mini, but the one I wanted was custom but not at all unusual, so they didn't have it in stock. Why have it shipped to the store when I can just have it shipped to my house. So that's what I did. Didn't get to look around for other stuff, too crowded, and I was ready to get the hell out of there. Next time I have to go in person it'll be Encinitas. Or Fashion Valley where they seem to have common custom configs in stock. read more

It's the "new" Apple Store (post coronavirus). Temperature checks, socially distanced lining, and only 6 customers allowed in the store at a time. I made a Genius Bar appointment for service on Air Pods Pro and arrive about ten minutes early. I waited about five minutes and was let in by my service advisor. The service was one-on-one and I was out the door within a half hour. In all, a rather painless procedure. read more

I decided to upgrade my iPhone XR to the iPhone 13 while running errands at North County Mall. We were greeted by Mowgli who had met my co-habby earlier that day. Not only did he make the whole purchase swift and painless, he was a pleasure to talk to, was very tech savvy and well versed in Apple products. I was able to get the Starlight color I wanted and the only thing that took time was transferring my data over. Other than that, the overall transaction took no time at all. He was very patient in answering all of my questions and wasn't pushy with upselling products. I had already purchased my accessories in advance and he was totally cool about it. The staff at this location is rushed, and rude and they communicate poorly. Even their manager Chris had such an attitude that he threatened me by saying I could leave if I wasn't happy with the way they communicated. I simply wanted a printed report of the findings from their examination of my phone. The first-line customer service person said she would "write it down" for me. I asked if that meant I would get a printout that I could take to my cellular company. Again, she said she would "write it down." I asked to speak to Chris. He said that "writing it down" is the same thing as an official printed report and went on to argue the semantics that they're both the same thing. He was very condescending and showed no interest in helping or understanding why I might need an official report. If you want to be treated like a second-class citizen and have them threaten to throw you out for politely and calmly asking for a printed report, by all means, go to this store. Or, you could go to any other Apple Store where you might be treated as a valued customer. read more

This place is well staffed and we got help right away .The exchanged was easy and while we were finishing the sales, the staff asked if our kids would like to join their Apple camp. Without a doubt I signed up both my kids and brought another neighbor. We showed up couple days later and since I had to wait inside the store with them, I briefly joined the training too and learned how to use FreeForm and Keynote. It ran about 90 minutes but it went by fast. The staff were very helpful and patient, engaging them with facts and jokes.I think they offer these classes in the summer for these kids and signing up was free and easy. read more

I am a Tmobile subscriber and traded in my iPhone 12 for an iPhone 14 plus at this store. The salesperson made a mistake and quoted me a $800 trade in value, but actual trade in value was only $350. I asked the salesperson at least twice regarding trade in value, she double confirmed $800 trade in value and declined my request to read the entire promotion details. I would have never traded in my iPhone 12 for only $350 trade in value. I went back 3 days later to see if the manager could do anything to rectify the situation, and he offered me nothing. Apparently, apple does not care if their employees give out wrong information and make mistakes that lead to customers purchasing a phone under false pretenses. My advice to all prospective iPhone customers is to NEVER trade in at any Apple store. read more

I hate to write a bad review, because my experience is not Apple North County's fault, it is Apple's fault, and the store is just following Apple policy and it's giving me much grief. This review is given in the spirit of wanting the problem fixed. A trip to this store and back will cost me 2 hours. My device is having an issue, I want to get it fixed and am trying to figure out how to plan my day, about how long the repair will take, etc. I just need to call the store. You cannot call this store, period. The number takes you to the Apple Robot, and the Apple Robot sends you to central customer support. Central customer support is not allowed to connect you to the store except under special circumstances, which they are not allowed to tell you. You can guess, though, and if you guess right they will try to connect you to the store. Unfortunately this 1) goes back to the Apple Robot or 2) rings and does not answer. So I made an appointment for next week at the Genius Bar, hoping that I'd be able to attach a message to the ticket saying "Hey please call me first so I don't go there and make a scene". There is no way to attach such a message. So I will go there next week and make a scene. I'll re-scale the number of stars after that if that makes me think any differently. read more

I understand all to well how just about everything in our lives has been affected by COVID but I also don't want to spend a lot of time in a line. I was really interested in the M1 chip in the new MacBook and decided to try and get one. Out of all the Apple Stores in San Diego County, this was the only store I could find online that have them in stock. When I walked up to the store, the fist thing I saw were all the people standing outside waiting. Immediately I considered just turning around and going home. I just don't have the patience these days to stand in a line for an extended period of time. But as I walked up, the security person told me there were different lines and pointed me to the line for walk-ins. The line didn't look too bad, so I figured I would give it a few minutes and see what happens. I hadn't been in the line very long when a store representative came out and asked what I was looking for. He looked it up on his mobile device and confirmed they did have it in stock and instructed me to stand in a different line next to the store. Again, I wasn't in this line very long before another representative came out and asked how they could help. And like the person before, they looked it up and saw they had exactly what I was looking for and he entered some information so someone in the stock room could bring it up. At this time, the salesperson invited me into the store to complete the transaction. We stood at a table and talked for a few minutes when someone brought out the laptop I wanted to buy. Within a few minutes we had completed the sale and I was walking out the door. Overall, my entire experience took less than 20 minutes. I read some of the comments from earlier this month and maybe there were some problems opening back up in the age of COVID and I think we are all on edge these days. But I feel my experience was more representative of the people who work at this store. It was a very smooth experience and if you are looking to buy that Apple product before the holidays, I highly recommend coming here, even as a walk-in. read more

I tried to walk in last week to look at some Apple Watches. I was told there was a 2 hour wait. Ridiculous. There was hardly anyone in the store. I know capacity is limited but this seems overdone. Stopped to pick up my online order, an unlock iPhone to replace my current phone with current carrier. The young and new representative was friendly. When I inquired about if they offer to set up the phone with my T Mobile account he asked if I have the PIN number. I replied, O never use a PIN with my T Mobile account. I asked if he is aware that is a one time PIN for me to call T Mobile to acquire one. His replied was "I don't know because I don't have T Mobile.". I do understand not everyone has T Mobile account, and as a T Mobile customer I can always call to find out. I just wanted to see if they have info at Apple Store since he was the one brought up the PIN. I think if a store rep. wants to bring that up, they should have more info to provide to the customers. After all, iPhones are used by various customers with different carriers. I think more proper training and time this young rep. would be a great rep. After he helped me transferred all the data the more experienced rep. stopped by to check on me, and he told me there is a T Mobile in the mall and provided me the direction. Everything went well and my new iPhone was all set up and no issue using my phone key to get in my Tesla. read more

Came in to get my laptop fixed since it had issues with the charger. I walked in at around 11:30am and one of the staff said there would be a 4 hour wait. When she took my information though it said they'd be ready at 12:35pm, so that worked out perfectly. I came back and was told to sit and wait for the technician to help me. I waited until 1pm, since they were very busy. I didn't mind it so much, I was just happy that they could squeeze me in. The technician looked at my laptop, she explained everything as simply as she could. I appreciated it, since I'm not tech savvy. She said they would have to keep it to fix the OI for $96, it would take 3-5 days. So I signed it off and am now waiting to get my laptop. Overall, all the employees were nice. It was pretty busy when I went, so be sure to go early or call ahead of time to schedule a time to come in so you don't have to wait for an appointment. read more
