My 78 year old mother brought her IPHONE in to the store because she entered the wrong password too many times. The store said they could not help her because she didn't have her bill of sale (receipt from years ago). My husband and I drove 30 miles one way to go to this specific store for their large selection and what we heard as great customer service. My husband wanted a series 5 Apple Watch. We requested a non-cellular version. While the Apple Tech was inputting our order, he decided to make us wait and help a woman and her daughter with a Apple Watch band....rude! Others can wait their turn, we did. Then he proceeded to get our items from stock. The other Genius pulling them even clarified the product. After dropping over $800 for the watch and a band we came home and opened the box to find the cellular version of the watch. Some Techs can multitask the one at the store tonight can't. This is the store for you if you like to get caught up in the excitement of trying out and purchasing Apple products. The store is jam packed with customers, their children, and employees. The employees are welcoming and helpful. Despite the high energy level in the store, I've always been welcomed as if I'm their only client. The layout is orderly. There are two rows of tables featuring products that folks are encouraged to play with. Each product is accompanied by an iPad that provides information. Unfortunately, there are so many people that it's hard to get close to anything. Apple has made buying things very easy if you're paying with plastic. You can be anywhere in the store and an employee can scan your purchase with their iPod and likewise take your payment. Bam bam thank you ma'am! Another noteworthy point is that the employees are certainly not pushy at all. They act as educated advisers or order-takers - not sales people. I've never felt bad about not buying anything. The employees must be used to people coming in to play with their products and then leaving sans purchase. It's probably good that the employees aren't pushy. After all, Apple products are pretty spendy. My siblings and I just purchased an iPad for my dad's Father's Day present ($540 after tax). Dad and I went back for a cover and discovered that it was $79. Little things like cords and peripheral items that you'd expect to be cheap evolve in the Apple store into little investments. I am just not a fan of the crowd at all. Maybe that's not Apple's fault and maybe it is. I'm comfortable using Apple products and have nothing against them; however, I'm certainly not a cult follower. I'd rather shop in a less crowded store than this one. read more

If I could give this place a negative score I certainly would. My office purchased 5 Apple watches, the new ones, X. At day 26 I put it on in the morning straight from the charger.... it burned my wrist. A blister popped up after a couple of hours. Being an Apple customer from the beginning I figure I would go to Oakbrook Apple store, have them see that watches should NOT Burn the user. Well, they would rather sell a watch that burns rather than replace it. Apparently their products sold at Verizon don't get the same Apple care as ones purchased at this store. This place is crazy busy, and your heart will sink the second you walk in and see the crowd. However, if you make an appointment before you go in, the process works astonishingly fast. I had someone helping me within five minutes and she was able to quickly figure out my diagnostics issue. I decided to purchase a phone instead of going the repair route, and I was automatically assigned to a new person. I felt very taken care of the entire time, and all of my questions were answered in a haggle-free process. I will personally never purchase my phones from my network stores after this - buying it directly from Apple is the way to go. Highly recommended! read more

I went to this Apple store for the issue my dad was having with his Iphone 6s which was siri wasn't responding or able to hear him when he gave her commands. So we drove to the store on a Friday thinking maybe it's a simple issue or the phone needs cleaning but when we entered we were redirected to another person besides the greeter to tell why we were in their store. We stated the issue to the employee then she asked us do we have a appointment in which we didn't. The employee said we can set up a time for Sunday or you cant wait for 2 1/2 to 3 hours yea no we'll do Sunday makes you think how many issues other people are having with their Apple products. Fast forward to Sunday we arrive yet again to the store a bit early about a hour before the set time for the appointment. Just sitting in the store is uncomfortable all the people packed in and listening the Apple employees try to convince people at the "Genius" bar to just replace their products for a price was truly cringe worthy. Funny part was all the employees who tried to help people with their problem just kept walking away from their customer to ask one employee what to do. Glad to know they claim to work the "Genius" bar and want to help you with your problems but rather sell you stuff instead. The time arrived for appointment for us so we met with our Apple employee nice guy and stated he was going to hook up the iPhone to get checked up. Ran through all the tests showing nothing was wrong except the front mic was broken so then we can the sales pitch we can fix it for $130 or you can try to return it to Verizon store you bought it from for a replacement. But the thing that didn't make sense was my dad was able to make phone calls and talk on the speaker with no issues. But the employee stated well you have another mic in the top of the phone which was the said "broken" mic. We thanked for the insight on the issue and left thinking all the wasted time for no help at all. On the way home we stopped at a UBREAKIFIX phone shop and asked for a second option the employee there tried to replace the part in which it didn't work but instead cleaned the phone including the "broken" mic. The result siri was able to hear my dad again and the price was free. So this store is only good for selling and is a joke for trying to fix your items. Maybe they should add a option to clean a device and actually care about their customer instead of wasting their money. Glad I'm a Samsung user with no issues and knowing Apple puts faulty batteries in their phones to make you upgrade for a faster phone. I'll pass. read more

I gotta give 'em 5 stars. In a state of utter panic, I raced to the Apple store with a dead iPod. I explained my dilemma. Without so much as request for a receipt, a had a brand new iPod in my hands and was out of there in less than 10 minutes. This is a reflection on both this store and Apple as a company. I did make a reservation online ahead of time using the Apple Store Concierge feature. I recommend that if you know when you are heading there. It helps to avoid any unnecessary delays. I've had iPhones for approximately 5 years and only shattered the screen 3 times total, so I think I'm coming out ahead. I had a family emergency and thus my head was in the wrong space and I dropped it hard on my tile floor face down. I left it cracked for a few months then I decided to finally do something about it. I love that Apple makes it really easy to schedule appointments online or through your device. They also warn you to make sure to back your device up to iTunes/iCloud, so make sure you read all of the instructions and not just click through everything. I had an appointment for 5:10 but I showed up a little bit early thinking I might get out of there earlier. It's a few weeks before Christmas so I should have known they'd be busy. (They actually saw me right at my appointment time.) While waiting, I was noticing how efficient the whole operation was. All of the Apple employees were very organized and customer focused. One guy was trying to explain to an older woman about how the hard drive works and how she was running out of space on her computer. I thought he explained it very well to someone that might not be very tech savvy and I was amazed by his patience. The guy that helped me (sorry didn't catch his name) was great. He made sure I turned off Find my iPhone-- crap I forgot to do that, then he proceeded to let me know the price--$109 for an iPhone 6-- and what would cause it to cost more--water damage, any parts inside that weren't factory issued. I got paranoid thinking at some point I may have dropped my phone into water, but luckily I didn't. You basically leave your phone with them for an hour and then come back. I was a little nervous that it might not be ready on time, but when I came back-it was already ready. They ask you for an ID before releasing your device to a stranger. My entire experience was seemless. I just hope that I don't have to return anytime soon. read more

I've been an Apple junkie for about 8 years now, ever since I switched to Mac. I've got the phone, the pad and toilet seat...wait, what? That's not out yet? Shhh. You didn't hear it from me. Anyway, the Apple Store's new location is bigger, and utilizes natural light, with soaring ceilings to help with the heat of 100 computers, and 8 million people cramped into the store. It's still packed every time I come, but at least you don't feel like you are suffocating now. I knew what I was buying when I walked in here last Sunday, so after grabbing it, I immediately looked for a cashier. There aren't any. Huh? No. The staff rings you up on their phone. Except the hassle is that not EVERY staff person can do this, so if you approach one who can't, you have to wait for them to page someone who can. This takes longer than standing in line at a normal cash register. Plus, if you want a bag or a receipt, they have to go run to the particular islands where those two items exist, taking even more time. So their efficiency turns out to be somewhat less than efficient. Bummer. But otherwise, the place is cool and I'm sure I'll continue shopping here as long as they keep making things with apple logos on them. read more

Every time I go in here, I get a bad feeling. It's crowded, chaotic, and there's no apparent order or reason to the customer experience. I fear the worst. And yet, I'm always out of there quickly, and without a lot of hassle. As with all Apple Store locations, there is a certain elfin magic to how things work. There's no line, and yet customers are seen in order. There's no sales counter, and yet there's always a spot to inspect your purchase and ring up your total. And though the sales people move faster than visible with the naked eye, they always end up being helpful. After I had proven everything, they still refused to give me my compromised Apple ID back. They are protecting the thieves instead of the customers. Then they said if I have the proof of purchase they can at least unlock my phone. I went to at&t to get the copy of receipt. After I gave them the receipt, they told me they can't unlock the phone. Yesterday I stopped in to get some advice about buying a new phone. I entered and the woman who directs you made a point of letting me know she was going to choose someone Who Would Be Best For Me. I thought, what is THAT supposed to mean? Did she sneak a peek at my resume on my way in? Or was this really weird judgement based on the color of my (silver) hair? I got a guy-nice enough-came over. Proceeded to not listen to me at all. And recommend the phone that I was absolutely not interested in plus all these additional add-on costs for Applecare etc. And did a little texting while he was talking to me. The vibe in the store is just WOW! Really customer service based. More staff on hand than you can believe. I went in on a Friday it was very busy with lots of people. But here's how it works. You walk in, someone greets you with a smile at the door and puts your name on the 'list' so that you'll be helped in the order of your arrival (Later found out that you can make an appointment with no waiting). State your issue and you're matched with the appropriate blue polo wearing Apple associate. In my case, I was matched with Kevin who called out my name in such a cheerful greeting that it startled me and he began to beguile me with his jovial spirit and tech knowledge. The small issue I had with my iPhone was not worth his prolonging my visit---so he 'swapped' my phone out. I asked what that meant and he said, I'll just get you a new iPhone. I'm like....ummm....OK (TWIST my arm). Smoothest, delightful experience at a phone store EVER! Oh, as I was being served, Apple management was bringing in a stack of 20+ pizzas for the staff. That's why they're so pleasant, they're treated well. Oh, oh...the Apple Store is located two doors down from the Disney store. I decided to go to the Oakbrook store over the Woodfield store since tax at Oakbrook is a lot less than Woodfield. I now wish I had gone to Woodfield. I came to Apple looking to upgrade from my Macbook to a Macbook Pro. I came in knowing what i wanted, you would think I'd be in and out. Wrong. It took me no less than 45 minutes to be helped. Yes, I know it's a busy store, but when there's roughly 10 customers for every 1 employee, that's a huge problem. All the employees run around like their head got chopped off. They were all obviously very overwhelmed. This store needs to hire more people. However, once i lassoed one of the apple employees, everything went smoothly. The guy that helped me was really awesome, no bullshit kind of guy. I hate when apple employees go on and on about upselling, but this guy knew I didn't want that stuff and rather than pushing it, just accepted it and moved on. It was greatly appreciated. After my transaction was complete, he even did my rebate for me, which was amazing. Plus, he was one of the cuter employees, which helps. Anyway, I really love Apple and I really wish I could give this store 5 stars, but making me wait 45 minutes to give you over $1500 is completely unacceptable. My fiance had an appointment at the genius bar because her macbook kept on logging off of the wireless network (every few minutes). The genius who helped her (the lone wolf-pack guy from hangover - or an exact replica twin) told her that there is nothing wrong with her computer and that next time she should call Applecare instead of coming in. This is after waiting 45 in line to see someone tell me there is no new appointment. Okay... I get it ... it's busy. Lot of people with problems! HIRE MORE STAFF THEN!!! QUALIFIED STAFF! Half the people here don't know ANYTHING about the product they sell. I went in with google.com knowledge about fixing my iPhone and still knew more that the employees here! What an embarrassment to Apple! I was uploading the new software when my perfectly functional phone suddenly did not work! No one could fix it or help. Only suggestion was to pay $300 for a new phone. Really??? I paid for this phone 3 Year's ago! I really suggest Apple to get qualified employees here who can actually FIX the problem... not try to sell me a new phone. Going to go back and buy an android next time that way my photos and such get stored on a drive rather than iCloud (which you gotta pay for as well...) So, I took my iPhone and my PC to the Genius Bar because they weren't syncing, and my PC kept trying to restore my iPhone. It was unbelievably busy in there, but I got an appointment in about 20 minutes. Now, I know the Geniuses aren't trained in dealing with PCs, but the guy ended up restoring my iPhone and trying to replace the data with my last back-up from over a week ago, while giving me a spiel about how corrupted my iPhone probably was. Then his shift ended, so he got a replacement Genius for me. His name is Jong, and he's the store's Windows expert. Seriously, if you have a problem that involves Windows as well as your random Apple product, go to him. He's the one who figured out that my iPhone wasn't corrupted at all, and that my cable was actually the problem. I could've easily avoided having to sit in the store for 2 hours trying to restore my iPhone, as well as losing 10 days' worth of texts, and failing to understand why it was being so cranky. So word to the wise: don't put all your trust in the Geniuses when you have a non-Apple product involved, and see if there's someone specialized who can help you. read more

Apple stores are disorganized and annoying. They're crowded with 1100 people trying to find iPod socks and fix their 4-year-old's 32 gig iPod touch. There's no clear signage letting people know where you can actually go to buy things like iPods, which leads to people crowding around the Genius Bar checkin station as if it were a line to purchase. They're good to check out the latest tech or get accessories in a pinch, but the online experience from the Apple Store or Amazon is so much better, that I try to avoid these at all costs. read more

We're an Apple family, so I was extremely disappointed when we had such a bad experience at this store. My husband and I were trying to upgrade our iPhones, while also switching him over to Verizon from Sprint. I called the store ahead of time and asked if that was something we could do there (instead of heading to a Verizon location) and they said, "Sure!" Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. We sat waiting for almost 2.5 hours and the girl helping us still couldn't figure it out. She disappeared into the back of the store and left us hanging for over an hour with no communication and no updates. The store closed, and she still didn't emerge, so we assumed she had given up and we left. Turns out that she had somehow deactivated our current phones without giving us new ones! How is that even possible?! And why didn't anybody tell us before we left?! This was some of the worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. I will never go back. read more

Avoid this Apple store at all costs. Posted they were open to 9 pm then after driving over an hour i get there to find out they had closed at 8 and no hours on the store. I got in touch with Apple the next day which told me the location had changed the hours to 8 so i get there shortly after to 7 to have them tell me they were closed at 7pm. A technology company that wants you to rely on their technology when the technology they have is not reliable. The store downtown Chicago is more understanding however if you are over 30 you are left in a waiting area and they wait on younger customers figuring the old ones will die off before they get to them. Then they have the nerve to ask older customers if their iphone is backed up when they know only the customer at that age is backed up but not their iphone. Most of the staff is either on their own iphones or chatting non-chalantly to each other while customers wait. read more

I really didnt stay here long enough to play with the Apple products, but the store looked really busy. Thankfully there was plenty of staff around to help with the crowds. The computers are displayed on for you to test out. I am so amazed by how everything is so thin and light weight here! They have training stations where you can learn how to set up your computer. I'm -so- glad that Apple opened a store in downtown Naperville, as previously, the Oak Brook store was the only one nearby. I'm not entirely sure how much I can fault Apple for this, because they definitely are a victim of their own success, but WOW is this store irritating to shop at. I've been in less crowded mosh pits, and it doesn't seem to matter what time of day you go there, you still need to crowd surf towards whatever product it is that you came in to buy. They could triple the floor space they have there and the place would still feel crowded. If you can, go to the Naperville store instead. It's pretty crowded too, but a bigger store makes it feel a little less claustrophobic. Actually, save yourself the trouble and just order Apple stuff from Amazon. read more

The first time I went in there, I went to look for an Ipod Touch for my dad. Well, I got it - knew exactly how to use it, and had no questions. Problem was it wasn't for me! Well a few days later I went and got myself the Touch, and I love it. They were so helpful with all the accessories, and explaining the "new" applications that just became available..... So, I really like having the best of the best, and those Mac vs PC commercials really crack me up.... so I got a Mac Book Pro - I don't need it, but it's the best. Let me just start by saying that the staff at this store is super amazing!!! Everyone is so friendly and knowledgeable and willing to help you out. My mother and I came in with concerns regarding her watch and Jackie the manager was so friendly and understanding of the situation and was able to quickly set us up with Ben our technician. He was so funny and friendly and was able to answer all our questions and concerns. We were done quickly and got exactly what we needed taken care of. To top it all off, Heidi whom was super sweet greeted us and quickly helped us find someone to help us out. I was blown away by how amazing they all were to my mom and I. After my Macbook sadly had some problems, I made an appointment online for the genius bar and headed there for my appointment. For the love of god, this store is busy! Luckily they had a ton of people working, although most of them were talking to each other. But a few people came up to me to see if I needed help. I checked in with an employee and stood around for a while. Eventually, I asked someone what comes next if I have an appointment. They explained that the person checking you in gives a description of you to one of the genius guys and they tell you when they're ready. It would have been nice if the guy who checked me in explained this to me. Finally a guy came up to me named Dan. I explained the problem and he seemed perplexed by my problem. I think he was new because he didn't know how to unscrew the bottom piece from the computer. Strange! After a while and with the help of other people (a guy named John), they figured out what the problem was. One thing that annoyed me was that they kept talking to my husband even though it was my computer and I probably know more about macs than he does. I was the one telling them about the problems and everything, but they kept asking him questions and telling him things about the problems. Not very cool. They said it would be 1-3 days turnaround time to get my computer back. I the 5th day, I finally called. Miraculously they called me back within an hour and it was ready. Don't tell people 1-3 days if it's going to take longer. So frustrating. Upon picking up my laptop, i had to stand in a line with people purchasing items and needing computers fixed. After standing there for 15 minutes, my husband finally got a hold of another employee telling him that all we are doing is picking up a computer. It takes like 5 seconds to go get our computer. They should really have a separate line for this. This place really needs a bigger location - it's too crowded and there's no room to even walk. read more

Had to wait over an hour to get my iPhone switched out through AppleCare. Worst experience I've ever had at an Apple Store. I broke the phone while out to lunch dropping it, and I figured I would be able to get it swapped out rather painlessly. What a mistake! They told me that I should have made a Genius Bar appointment. Ok, how was I supposed to do that with a broken phone? There are probably thirty employees here, and half of them are sitting around doing nothing. I mean seriously, how hard is it to swap out a broken phone for a replacement? It's not like I'm setting up new service, or they have to fix the broken one - it's a simple swap. When I asked why a tech couldn't multitask and do two things at once, the employee responded with "then I wouldn't have anyone waiting" - what a clown. It is frustrating that I cannot just take this to the AT&T store to get replaced with my AppleCare. I liked this place before, but I wouldn't come back here again. read more

So after spending 45 minutes on the phone TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT, I made one for that day and left work early to take my son. Ordered a macbook airline with extra storage via apple online. For ship to this store. Was to have arrived with all installed, and apple was to keep me updated via email. Unbeknownst to me, apple canceled order because of incomplete email that he copied incorrectly from my online account. Echat told me that I would be best going in-store because they had sufficient stock. Went in-store as requested, and store manager said it was impossible, that model could only be ordered online. TL;DR - don't go here expecting good customer service. or smiles. or friendly faces. or general help. you won't get any. Ok, so this apple store location has been my go-to store since I got my Mac from here in early 2013. I've had a few issues with my laptop, so I've been back and forth quite a few times. Except, I don't think I've gotten this bad of a customer service from this location until now. I went to them on a Tuesday evening, with my laptop having the problem of rebooting itself. I was trying to install the new update while this started happening. Took it to Genius Bar, they ran diagnostics problem, detected something being wrong with the software, and told me that I had to leave my laptop there over night for them to reinstall whatever update they were going to do. Ok, no problem. In the meanwhile, my charger had stopped working about a month ago, so I'd been meaning to either exchange it, depending on if I had my 1 year warranty, or buy a new one. The girl I was dealing with directed me to sales saying that they should help me with that. I wanted to pull up the receipt first to look at when I bought it to see if I could exchange it. I was directed to talk to the greeter guy, who then asked someone else for help bc he "didn't know how to look up receipts." The guy that he directed me to then, rolled his eyes, and said "try to find it on your phone, if you can't then ill help you." um. ok. so here I am trying to find a receipt thats supposed to be on my email...and I'm looking and can't find it. I tried to find the guy, no idea where he ran off to. Didn't know looking up receipts were that difficult? Then, this other lady comes by and says "what do you need help with, I can help you" so I tell her the same thing. Her name was Jasmine. she then I guess questions my ability to find an email, which I guess is understandable (or was at the time), tries to find the email through my phone. and she can't. she then says thats the ONLY way to look up a receipt, through my email. I'm like so you're telling me there's no other way to look up a receipt, no purchase record? she says "yup" and I just walked away. the whole time on my way home I'm thinking that is so bizarre, how do they pass audits if they can't keep a purchase record?? I guess we are talking about Apple after all... Next morning I get a phone call about my laptop, looks like the re-installation didn't work. So I had to go back to the store to give them my hard drive to back everything up. This time, I talk to a different gentleman and explained what happened the day before. he's like "oh we can look it up through your credit card if you have the card you used to purchase with you." except we couldn't find it under my card. then I'm like, well, if you sent it to my email, you should be able to look up a receipt through using my email too right? by looking it up on your system? bingo. we were able to find my receipt. I explained what happened the day to him again, except this guy goes "yeah Im sure thats what they meant when they said they can only look it up through email." and I'm thinking - yup thats exactly what she meant, as she was looking through MY email on MY phone ??? I gave up. my computer ended up taking 2 extra days to finish doing whatever it was that they did, nobody could tell me what was actually wrong bc they all kept saying "I didn't work on this computer, so I can only tell you whats in the notes." I'm pretty sure more than 10+ people knew me by name, because of the amount of different people I talked to and hoops I had to jump through to get ONE thing done. everyone seemed to be busy doing something or pretending like they were busy as soon as you make eye contact with them. and its funny to me, that they can all talk to each other, and clearly you see them talking to each other, but for some reason they think you can't see or hear them? lol. Jasmine was working when I went back today to pick up my laptop and I wanted to go ask her if she received proper training on returns and exchanges, but figured I'd save her the embarrassment since she was with a customer. The only people that genuinely seemed to care about fixing my laptop and answering my questions were Jerry and Selina; if it weren't for these two, I prob would've given 1 star. read more

Initially I was glad to go to this store because they had an available appointment and I needed to get into the store quickly. I was helped reasonably fast, although my tech wasn't the friendliest. I left the store when I was told my new phone was in good shape, but man, that was a lie! My tech did not update the software to IOS 9.2 and now I've been on the phone with Apple tech support for 45 minutes trying to update the software so I can download my apps! What a nightmare. I have never had such poor customer service from Apple. I would avoid this store if you can. read more
