I went to the Ross Park Apple store to bring in my daughter's MacBook Air for repair. They said that they could fix it in a day or two. Four days later, I got a call from one of their techs who asked me to call back with more information so they could access the hard drive. I returned the call within a few minutes. Their phone rang for a LONG time then cut me off. This happened several times. I called the central Apple number. They tried to call the Ross Park Mall and had the same problem. Apple even called the Apple store on Shadyside (very easy to reach) and they could not reach the Ross Park Store either. The system would not allow me to leave a message. No one knew why the Ross Park store was incommunicado. Finally, late in the afternoon, I decided to call the Ross Park Apple Store and access sales. Miracle! I got through! Turns out that the only tech at the store found out that he had Covid and had to leave the store immediately. They did not have anyone to replace him. It did not occur to anyone to put a message on their machine or have a way for people to leave messages. There another issue--if one suspects that one has Covid and is waiting for test results, should one be working at a mall with customers? Lucky I am vaccinated. read more

Terrible service. Scheduled an appointment for 6:45 pm, arrived on time and had to wait 20 minutes to get service. When we finally did, they took my airpods, which had a weird noticeable crackling noise in the left side, and plugged them into their test software. We were told to come back at 7:20 to retrieve them as we were told to be back by that time. We get back to the store at 7:19 and wait around till 7:58. The store closes at 8. We finally got my case back and were told that nothing was wrong with them and that they weren't replaced. There was obviously something wrong if they just replaced the tips and put them on. As we're walking out, I open the case and they aren't even in it. Takes another 10 minutes just to get the actual airpods back. We came in being told it was going to be a fast experience, but came out nearly 2 hours later with broken airpods which we nearly didn't even get back. What a joke. read more

This Ross Park Mall Apple Store was the worst experience that I have ever had at an Apple Store. The lady that was working at the front entrance on June 11, around 4:50 PM Saturday afternoon was very dismissive. I did not catch her name, but she had dark hair and she was triaging the incoming customers during that shift. I ask about a power adapter block for my new iPhone 12 and how could I purchase one there, and she was under the impression that I wanted a free one. I was visiting the city and within less than 5 hours in the city I encountered racism here in this store. I didn't want anyone to give me anything I came to purchase what I was looking for. I have mentioned this scenario to anyone that I see to not go into this store. Horrible customer service, she didn't know who I was but she treated me like I should not have been in the Apple Store to purchase or I didn't have the money to purchase, but I have an iPhone 12. The only positive outcome was the guy who checked me out at 4:57 PM that my receipt has he was very nice. These Apple products cost too much money to have employees with elitist and nasty attitudes, when we the "customers" have spent thousands of dollars on these products continuously. Maybe I'm cursed or maybe no on cares about their work anymore but most of my experience with any business as of late has been underwhelming and downright frustrating to say the least. I brought in a 2013 iMac for a simple factory reset. I carried the 50 pound computer in box from parking lot to mall, received a call a few hours later to pick it up and went through the same process of driving to the mall and carrying it a fair distance from the store, through the mall to my car. Two trips, a workout of carrying and walking and what do I discover when I get home? They didn't even install an operating system on it so it was completely non-functional. They call it the Genius Bar...really? I beg to differ. That seems a pretty glaring mistake to make on a simple service of wipe and reinstall. I called to make another appointment at the Shadyside store for two days later and they completed the service flawlessly and within a couple of hours. I'd say if you receive service here make sure to test your device before leaving the store to make sure some genius didn't get so smart they forgot to actually fix it. Went to the Apple Store, told them hard drive was fried (which it was). The SSD part of my fusion drive was fine so diagnostics came up saying a hard drive existed and it was fine (it was a baby 120 gig SSD but still a hardrive that could install OS X) They said 'fixed!' and kicked me out of the store and told me to just use my time machine back up buh-bye... I felt like I was in in a bizzaro customer service world. My hard drive still sat broken in my 27 inch iMac and even after questioning the diagnosis I was informed 'it was fixed'. It wasn't, and I was forced to lug my iMac home still broken through the mall only to come home with a broken computer. What if I was a clueless baby boomer that didn't know a calculator from an iPhone. I came in knowing the problem, with disc utility read outs in the back of my mind, and I explained everything. I came early for my prearranged appointment which began over an hour before store close. All I needed them to do was install Mac hardware, a new hard drive. I need my regular hard drive to install from my back up that far exceeds the 120 gigs on the SSD... Insane, I rarely complain especially about Apple traditionally great customer service but I do feel that it has diminished a bit over the last 10 years. I feel the pain of the geniuses that are constantly bombarded with idiots that need them to clean their hard drives or deal with there Apple ID amnesia. So I believe this has more to do with upper managements laziness in keeping the retail customer service culture of excellence and not those on the frontline. read more

Someone took me to an island counter and asked me the problem (for like the 4th time while there). They simply said it could be this, probably that kind of thing. Pawned me off to Rotten Tomatoes. They didn't even plug my computer in nor any type of diagnostic. Thanks for nothing and for wasting my time. Take your computers elsewhere (not Best Buy either!!) Nordstroms has the best service of the three luxury stores in Pittsburgh. It feels more authentic than Saks and Neiman Marcus and they go out of their way to be extremely helpful. For example, I needed a pair of pants shortened before a reunion and they expedited my order and they were ready the next morning. This isn't the only great service experience I've had here. To get great experience like this at Saks or Neiman you better plan on spending some $. read more

I spent upwards of a half hour there while they ran "diagnostics". This process took much longer than necessary because they woman who was supposed to be helping me was simultaneously talking to another customer. After waiting patiently I was informed that my phone was beyond repair and I would need to purchase a new one. Good thing I am inherently suspicious of salespeople because I took the phone to Verizon the next day and the guy there fixed my problem in 2 minutes by simply holding the lock and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appeared onscreen. If i could give this store ZERO stars I would. I came in here last Friday a little before 4:00 for a battery issue I was experiencing on my phone, that I just got in September. After about a half an hour of waiting and troubleshooting it was determined that yes my battery was shot and would be replaced for free. It was going to take an hour and half to do so, which I thought was relatively reasonable. I came back around 5:30 to check on my phone, waited at the "Genius Bar" for about 15 minutes before someone was able to acknowledge me and was then told that they had hit a "road bump" with a customer ahead of me and I would now have to wait another hour. No apology, nothing. Fine, waited another hour came back a bit before 6:30. Again I had to go through the process of waiting to even be acknowledged, and was then told that they had broke the display on my phone while replacing the battery and would be replacing it for free but that would be another hour. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? Again no apology. At this point I am at their mercy because my phone is broken and unusable until they fix it. Long story short I did not receive my phone back until 8:00. During my time of waiting not once did someone apologize or assist me, I had to be the one to ask the status of my phone and what was going on. To make the whole process even more frustrating, I had an expensive glass screen protector on my old display that I had to ask about. They said "oh we did not know you had that", 10 minutes later appeared from the back and attempted to transfer the screen protector from my old display to the new display, which of course was not very successful because the adhesive was no longer very functional. This was honestly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. When I would check in and ask what was going on with my phone the workers were rude and told me they would not give a time update and acted annoyed that I would even ask. In no world should it take over 4 hours to replace a phone battery. TERRIBLE customer service. read more

We've had an iPhone serviced here and they handled it within 10 minutes. The employees are friendly and know their products well. If you need service, make an appointment online before you go in. I am beyond impressed with the service I received at the Apple store in Ross Park Mall with Luis! I had taken my phone to get my screen fixed because I had cracked it pretty bad and after checking in they told me to come back in an hour (8:40pm) for pickup. When I went to pick up my phone I got terrible news that they were unable to fix it and I would have to get a whole new phone! Remind you this is 20 minutes before closing time. Not having a lot of storage I haven't been able to back up my phone properly. My consultant Luis walked me through all the steps we need to take so I wouldn't lose any of my pictures and contacts. He stayed over an hour after the store closed to help me and make sure everything was perfect! I cannot thank Luis and the entire apple team enough for everything they did for me yesterday! Although this branch isn't as much of a well oiled machine that the Walnut branch, the people here are still very nice and are helpful with any problem you might have. Of course, make sure to make your appointment online first rather than walking in. However, the last time I went here I still had to wait well past my appointment time. read more

Apple has a iPhone 7 problem. So we went to the store and they said Apple will give you a brand new iPhone 7 because of the problem with the phone having no service. It was just certain iPhone 7. But the really problem was the Apple employees saying that you will get a brand NEW iPhone 7. But instead they repair it and didn't mention that it would be repaired, they said I would get a NEW iPhone 7. One employee kept saying it was a brand new phone but it wasn't. It's very annoying and very confusing. I know that they paid for the repair because it's their problem but it's the attitude they had towards me. Attitude was very rude towards me and kept saying well we paid for it. It's not like I want something from them but I just wanted to be acknowledged and prevent someone else from being confused. And remember to read all the fine print don't let an apple employee click next and you didn't even read it. This is bad customer service. Took my phone in 6 weeks ago for a battery check and replacement. The Genius went completely over the phone, checked the battery and ordered the $29 replacement. Fast forward to today going in for the actual replacement and the first thing Evan tells me is he suspected water damage. Took the phone in the back, came out 15 minutes later and the battery could not be replaced without bricking the phone because the indicator showed wet (NEVER happened). Odd that 6 weeks ago no mention of any possible damage and today there is. Resented him calling it a "repair" when in reality it's an Apple screw up. Apple service has always been marginal and gets worse every year. Too many other, better, cheaper phones on the market now to put up with this underhanded attempt to mitigate the cost of fixing their mistake. I came here on appointment because my iphone would not play in my car. The place was packed when I came in. Initially it was difficult to get one of the tech's attention but once I did and informed him of my appointment, he found me on the list and told me to have a seat. I waited until 20 minutes past my appointment and asked a young lady how much longer I had. However, when she searched for my name she could not find it. She immediately put my name in and directed me to a table with other clients. Shortly after, I explained my issue to the tech at the table. He brought out a separate dock, removed my cover, and tested my phone. It worked, which suggested that my issue was with the wire I was using. So I went to purchase a new wire unwittingly knocking down the lower shelf as I tried to stand on it to reach the product...bit of a boneheaded move on my part. A tech came over and told me not to worry about it. He fixed the shelf and was able to reach the product for me and did it all while being extremely friendly and pleasant. Eventually, I purchased the new wire, connected it in my car and the music played. I didn't mention I came here one time before for a separate issue I can't recall what for, and the staff were very helpful. On this occasion my only qualm was my name not being found in the system second time around which could have resulted in me waiting longer had I not brought it up. Aside from that, I have found the staff to be very pleasant, efficient, and helpful. Yes you do have to wait and it is hard to get their attention at times but this place has been packed every time I come in. So that said I feel they have been doing a very good job. We were in this store Memorial Day weekend when my daughter's iPhone 6 Plus got smashed at prom. They promptly gave her a replacement and set up new Apple ID (we were sharing one). We have Apple care so the whole process didn't cost us too much about $90. Anyway, fast forward a couple weeks he replacement phone is glitching bad. The store wasted no time in getting her another replacement, made sure everything transferred correctly and best part - didn't cost us a thing! This store is snowflake political correctness extortion hell. My iPhone warped due to extreme heat. Went into exchange it per valid warranty. Some pencil neck, after making me wait for hr and a half (not to mention 40min just to get there) before blaming my otter box protective case then telling me I'd "bent it". 36hrs prior my phone was fine. I got to restaurant @ 7:00am and by 7:45 you could fry an egg on back of phone and it was warped. It also drained my car battery so it wouldnt even turn over. Had to push it then pop clutch (it's a nice 6-spd 8cyl with 6mo old bat). This snot nosed punk told me they wouldn't honor warranty bc it was bent. Conservative est. is in just 10yrs I'd spent over $50k on Apple gear. Partially responsible for $mm's more corporate. I protested got kicked out of store. These people are jokes. This is the worst apple store. I have ever have ever been to. "AL" a piece of shit human being and here is why. I walked and said I would like to purchase a new iPhone X. He had no problem helping me purchase one for over $1000 or so. Then I was locked out of my Apple ID and was not able to convert all my data, paying apps, pictures, and everything else. He tried one thing and then another. I do not think he even gave them the IMEI number to my support until after an hour. All while this was going on, he went to another customer and flirted with her and still gave me little help. I had to keep asking him" hey can you help me" " what should I do here". After nearly two hours AFTER I paid for my phone he goes to me, " hey I'm on lunch break now but there are plenty of people to help you here and offers to shake my hand". I'm infuriated because I've now been in this store for nearly three hours. I still do not have all my paying apps and a lot of things I have downloaded, company data, and much more. Went in with a hardware problem yesterday at 6pm (no appointment) and it was fixed and ready for pickup at 730pm. Didn't expect it to be that quick of a turn around so I didn't get back to the store until 830. Apple store employee explained everything to me even though they were technically closed. I recently brought my macbook into the store to pay to get my speakers fixed, and in the process of fixing the computer they broke the logic board. Then offered to give us a discount towards a new computer. (smells similar to apple software update scheme... could they have broke the logic board on purpose??) So we then bought two new macbook pro's and we were told that the old Macbook could be recycled and we would get CASH back. Well, after finsihing the recycle program on their website, they would only offer an apple gift card. I called the store and told them the situation and all they could say is sorry for the miscommunication. After being a loyal customer, and in the last six months bought a new Iphone X and two new MacBook Pro's, you would think they would at least try to do something about getting cash back (it's not like apple can't afford to give it back...). But that was not the case, and now we are forced to give apple more business (only speaks to the company's true intentions). I no longer trust apple, and am very displeased. read more
