I just don't get it. They schedule me in for 7:45pm and I haven't been talked to yet and it's an hour later. What the Fuck. If you were too busy, how about schedule me for a time that makes more sense than have me waste my time, finding parking in dreaded downtown New Haven just to have me sitting around. Roya was so difficult to have a casual conversation with about the challenge I'm having with my phone. This place should be shopped regularly until they are consistent with other apple stores. I bought both a new iPhone and iPad online,and went into the store to have them set up. In a little over an hour, both were set up with all data transferred from my old devices to new. The Apple folks were super friendly and helpful and saved me hours of anguish if I'd had to set them up myself. I grew up in the age of the slide rule, so their help was much appreciated! read more

I was in New Haven visiting family for the New Years Holiday. My wife was having issues with her iPhone 5. Anytime she went to shoot a video the phone would go dead. So we made a 1PM appointment on New Years Day. My sister-in-law (who lives in New Haven) asked me to bring in her iPhone 4 because her speakers were shot. So we made another appointment at 1:20 PM. So my wife and I walk into the Apple store and I am holding my 18 month old son who I am carrying because he fell asleep in the car ride over. We walk in at 1:11 PM because parking was scarce. I then explain this to the customer service rep who signs people in for Genius Bar appointments and she then proceeds to tell me its way to late and tells us we have to reschedule. She then quotes us 3:40 PM is the next available time. There are about 10 people waiting to be helped in the store and about 12 customer care reps. I then explain that I also have a second appointment at 1:20 PM for my sister-in-law couldn't we just have the technician take a look at both devices then and she clearly seemed annoyed with us by then. She says no. We have a seat another rep asked us what we needed help with and we told him that we had to separate issues with two separate appointments. He starts to help us then the young lady who signed us in intervenes and she starts to take over and starts trouble shooting. She then starts asking for a receipt for the iPhone 5 because it was not purchased at an Apple store. She quickly gives us a quote of around $90 to replace the battery on the iPhone 5. I then tell her that the gentlemen that was helping us was also going to look at my sister-in-laws phone. She told me "No, you were late for your appointment". I then explained to her that the gentlemen helped us for a 1 PM appointment but we still have 1:20 PM appointment and she became livid. So much so that another co-worker came over and looked up my sister-in-laws account to then tell us that she was out of warranty and it would cost around $60 to fix her speakers. I walked into an Apple Store and walked out with zero resolutions and angrier than I have ever been. I am not sure if the customer service rep had a problem with us or rough new years night. read more

After dozens of phone calls and store visits, I'm still not able to completely remove my old unrecoverable account off my iPad without an third party program (which Apple recommended I look into) However, the customer service vastly improved when I explained the stituation and attempted to recover my old account using their computers in store. I'm pretty familiar with technology - don't tell people it's impossible or can't be done. They have certain policies and procedures and I get that. Don't refer customer to the FAQs when they made and are at a genius appointment with one. It was really insulting for me that they assumed I didn't know about the FAQ page yet. read more

In some stores, the term "genius" is a generous stretch at best, but at the New Haven store, it's an accurate descriptor of their talented, outgoing, expert staff. Specifically, manager, Teresita and crew member, Shanna, were absolute wizards at remedying the complicated, convoluted service plan debacle surrounding my iPhone 6 purchase. Whereas I was countered at every turn by staff at other Apple stores with phrases like "not in my wheelhouse" and "out of my hands" with regard to my situation, Teresita was not afraid to devote some time to understanding my issue, and rolling up her sleeves to address and solve the problem with deft swiftness. And, Shanna was on point and savvy at executing a winning problem-solving strategy. I am grateful to the New Haven Apple Store for employing and retaining such highly competent talent who actively advocate for their clients. I look forward to returning to New Haven for my next purchase very soon. read more

I do not recommend using the Genius Bar at the New Haven Apple Store for repairs of Apple products. If you can, use a different Apple Store in the area. I took my MacBook Pro in for repair of a sticky keyboard, and when it was returned a week later, the Genius Bar techs had restored the wrong operating system (Sierra 10.12, rather than the Majove 10.14 OS that had been running on it when I took it in for repair). When I picked it up, I was not told that the operating system had been removed and reinstalled. Nor was I told that I would have to restore all my data from my Time Capsule back up. The only instructions I was given was that I would have to charge the battery and rescan my finger print. I was told to simply turn on the laptop and follow the set up instructions. When I turned on the laptop after recharging the battery, there were no set up instructions, only a Safari screen to contact Apple Care Support ... which I did. After more than three hours on the phone with three different Apple Care support specialists who tried unsuccessfully to walk me through retrieving and reinstalling my data from my Time Capsule backup, it was discovered that the New Haven Genius Bar techs had loaded the laptop with an outdated operating system (which prevented the laptop from accessing the backup files on the Time Capsule using Migration Assistant). The final Apple Care "senior" expert was able to help me reinstall the correct operating system and retrieve my backup data files from my Time Capsule. The good news is that the keys on the laptop are no longer sticky. read more

Just like any other Apple Store IMO. I think varying experiences happen at all of them. I've even had mixed experiences at flagships like 5th Avenue and San Francisco. Personally, I have no problems with them. When I had a speaker problem on my new iPhone, they replaced it with no trouble. Have purchased a few things here and the staff have been plenty friendly. There aren't a lot of Apple Stores to choose from in Connecticut, but for those of us that live within 20 minutes of this one it's hardly a problem. It's immediately clear that these employees are well-trained and follow the normal Apple Store protocol. They are friendly, helpful, efficient, and will engage you in normal conversation if you are interested in that sort of thing. The store is well-lit, very clean almost sterile, and everything is easy to find. I have only made small purchases at this store and it has always been without incident. The parking can be spotty if you are trying to park on the street. I use the small lot right across the street which costs a little more but it always has spots so I don't mind. This store has fantastically short wait times for repairs. I have had to bring my computer in twice and both times it was done that day and well ahead of schedule. Strangely, it takes longer than I would expect to get service when I have a scheduled appointment. I'm just standing there awkwardly and looking at the overpriced phone cases, wondering if I should screw around with the new iPad while I wait. In short, I made an appt online for 11:30, and was on time. I Checked in and was told to sit and wait. Waited until 11:43 for someone to speak to me, and reiterate what need I had already described. I Waited until noon to speak to someone else, then I was told to come back in an hour and the item would be ready. I came back and here I am waiting YET AGAIN to simply pick an item up! Every time I think this place can't get worse, it does. Go anywhere else. My last 3 experiences had wait times ranging from 19 to 54 minutes despite having an appointment. They were not able to fix the software issue with my phone. They were able to fix my laptop, but broke another component with an additional estimated repair time of 1 week. Unacceptable. It would be faster to spend 8 hours on the train to/from NYC twice for drop off / pickup than to use this store. Definitely avoid. read more

This is the first Yelp review that I have ever left. I made an appointment to fix my cracked screen. The expected time to fix the screen once I checked in was ~50 minutes. After waiting, I was told that my phone "wasn't even coming up" in their system and that I should come back in 5 minutes. 5 minutes later, I was told to come back in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later, I was told to come back in 15 minutes, etc. Finally when someone bothered to take the time to physically walk to the back of the store to check why it was taking so long, it turns out it had been done for a while. I ended up spending 3 hours in the store for a cracked screen because no one cared enough to actually go check. Why does this store need 15+ employees in the store at one time if they aren't actually helping customers? Definitely never bringing my phone here again if I have problems in the future. read more

I went to this Apple Store thinking I would receive an extraordinary customer experience like Apple is known for...boy was I wrong. This Apple Store clearly does not value their customer or their brand. We went in for two separate issues and both were met with the same attitude. One representative stated I have to completely wipe my phone and start over. When asked how I can back up my personal information, she told me to get a computer or get an app that will backup my information. It was like she could not be bothered. The worst Apple Store ever !! I like Apple and other stores have been great but this one has the worst service and management. I was scammed into getting a replacement phone for $150 that they told me was a brand new phone and had a 1 year warranty. Upon further investigation, the phone was refurbished and not new and only had a 90 day warranty so basically the salesperson lied and they wouldn't take the unused broken phone after 95 days. I had the phone tested elsewhere and it was determined that they sold me a refurbished phone listed as new. Wonderful service! I was immediately greeted upon walking in the store and directed to the concierge person to check in for my Genius Bar appointment. My friend and I had shattered displays and booked appointments. The technicians were running a little bit behind on their appointments but I was more than okay waiting because of how fantastic the customer service was! The name of my tech was Eli and he was great! I luckily came prepared with a backup so the duration of the appointment was less than 10 minutes. He was very thorough in explaining the cost of the repair and other options if the phone had liquid damage, etc. When I came to pick up my repaired phone, the employee that gave it to me was very thorough, as well and amazingly friendly! Another employee accosted me to compliment me on something I was wearing. All around a great experience! This Apple Store represents what's so great about this company. I've been to many Apple Stores over the years, and the New Haven Apple Store is the only one where I've ever had downright bad customer service experiences. I've been to this Apple Store perhaps a half dozen times to purchase something, but only because the location is much closer to me than the stores in Farmington or elsewhere. Of those times at the New Haven store, only one qualified as a "good" experience. All of the other experiences in New Haven, including one a couple of weeks ago, match what many of the other reviewers experienced: service that is indifferent or even surly; floor staff that pays more attention to their iPhones than to customers; staff gossiping amongst themselves rather than helping customers; and so on. Most of the staff appear to be Yale students. I'm a Yale alum, and I'm very active in university affairs, so I usually *like* Yale students. Unfortunately, many of the staff seem to be uncomfortable interacting with people who aren't fellow students or who aren't hipsters. Earlier today, a positive Yelp review by a trendy looking fellow, Samuel G, said "the employees that have helped me have been great tattooed, Warby Parker-framed, facial haired conversationalists." My advice to customers who are *not* tattooed, Warby Parker-framed, facial haired conversationalists: go to the Farmington-Westfarms Apple Store. You'll get much better service on average, and the staff won't act like they are too cool to be seen in public with you. By the way, the one good experience I had at the New Haven Apple Store was during the summer, and the person who helped me was a bit older and much more welcoming. Maybe that's the trick: go when Yale is not in session, when it is more of a New Haven Apple Store than a Yale Apple Store. Brought in my girl friends iPhone 4 to repair the charging port (the teeth were damaged and could no longer be charged). Long story short.. some so called apple genius said it could not be repaired and needed to buy a replacement iPhone "4" for $150.00 or a iPhone 5 for $500.00 psssf. After some searching around (on my iphone :)).. I found a great place in the milford mall where they fix all smart phones..Got it fixed for only $49.00 and under an hour time! If u need repairs and don't have a warranty, try this place out. I forget the name but its located in the lower level of the Westfield milford mall. I cannot give my experience at the Apple Store enough stars. The minute I walked in with my daughter and her broken iPhone -- I was approached by Kiki! She has helped me the last few times I was there! I breathed a sigh of relief! Kiki walked us through everything and stayed until our issue was resolved! This is the only Apple store I've visited that consistently puts me in a bad mood whenever I visit. They are always unfriendly and not willing to be helpful. I would rather travel all the way to nyc because I know that I get the service I'd expect from Apple there. Also one time the people here were very unprofessional and took my macbook air apart and sent me home with it that way. It turned into me getting a free replacement laptop from the Apple 5th ave store and them apologizing for the people at this location. one of the smaller apple stores i have been in (compared to nyc and boston 3 story units), this is single story, no glass stairs. this location opened a few weeks ago and i finally made it in during the iphone4s madness, they had lines outside for phone buyers and browsers could walk in - the apple staff was giving the people in line waiting for phones bottled water, which is nice. i was just looking at external hard drives and was impressed with the selection. its next to the barnes & noble, which is good .. and b&n has a cafe you can grab a coffee while waiting for your genius bar appt. read more

My experience buying a new iMac was pretty dismal in this store. Love Apple products and love Apple stores but this one seems to have untrained staff. We brought in my husbands iMac that got fried in the power outage and the "genius" said that it was too old for any support and referred us to third party repair to get the data from the hard drive. Huh? Since when did Apple not take care of their customers. We bought a new computer and the person in "personal set up" took 2.5 hours just to set up e mail - that's right 2.5 hours! And then they only got it to work when for the umpteenth time I recommended they look at the settings on my iPhone. Sorry New Haven store but I won't be back. I'll buy on line or in the Danbury store where they seem to understand customer service and have trained staff. I was ten minutes late for a Genuis Bar appointment. The person checking folks in told me would result in a 2.5 hour wait or rescheduling on another day. Disappointed, I asked to plead my case with the manager. Teresita was extremely understanding and patient. She was able to fit me in on the fly with a genuis named Yvonne who was incredibly helpful. This store may be one of the smaller ones, but my experience here has always been positive. read more
