I've been having trouble sending out emails on my phone for quite some time so I was in the mall and stopped to setup an appointment . I was pleasantly surprised that they could see me right away. I headed back to the Genius Bar. I loved the way they bounced ideas off each other to try and come up with a solution. The solution was found by Mike and I'm so grateful. My nonverbal autistic son had an iPad which he uses as a communication device. We purchased an Apple care plan at the time we got the iPad. The screen cracked and we took the ipad to the store for replacement which is part of the plan we purchased. The employees at the store were rude and unhelpful. I explained at my check in exactly what we were looking for. They had us wait for an hour and a half only to say that they don't do replacements at the store. instead, they would send the device out which would mean going at least 7-10 business days with no form of communication for my son. I can't overemphasize how unsympathetic and uncaring they were. I really do feel that if they were not going to help, they could have said so at the beginning. read more

Drove from Ithaca to get Mac screen repaired. Despite having going thru reserving an repair appointment (where the reason for repair was already mentioned) a week in advance, we only found out after arriving there that they don't have needed parts. Even after getting parts, which would take several days, it would take multiple days to get the mac repaired. So, they wanted to us to make a total of 3 trips from out of town! As a buyer of Apple's expensive hardware and additional warrantee, this is what I expect: 1. The part should be ordered in advance, and available when we get there. 2. Repairs should be completed the same day, or laptop should be shipped back to the owner with overnight shipping. read more

Had to replace battery on my 2015 MacBook Air. I already knew the issue, and though Apple ran a full diagnostic check, they agreed only a battery replacement was needed. Didn't try to sell me extra equipment or repairs. Didn't try to sell me new products. Store is located in a large mall. Open, well lit, clean. Employees are nice. They greet you at the door and check you in immediately. I only waited a few minutes past my appointment time. Took less than a week (they had to order the part). They offered to ship it to me upon completion, but I chose to pick it up. 129 dollars per apple policy, which is much cheaper than a new laptop. Laptop works like new. Firstly, it's super convenient to have an Apple Store in Syracuse. I don't own a ton of devices, but knowing that when the ones I have need to be serviced all I have to do is drive to the mall is certainly a relief. Speaking of which, I've been to this location quite a few times. Though I'm pretty basic, my boyfriend is a big Apple fan and is pretty high maintenance when it comes to his tech, so there have been times we've swung in just to check the battery life. Service is a mixed bag at times. Occasionally you get a genius bar worker who's a bit cocky or friendly in an over-the-top way that borders on obnoxious, but there are also staff who are efficient, down-to-earth, and really dedicated to making sure customers have a good experience. Wait times can be a little crazy, even if you book a genius bar appointment ahead of time (which I definitely recommend.) I'd suggest trying to come at an off-peak time if possible, or bringing a book and expecting to wait a little. Overall, service here is pretty good, especially when you take into account that it's the only Apple store in the area and is very busy. read more

I love the Apple store. And it's not just because the brushed metal, soft-lit interior makes me feel like I'm walking into Bruce Wayne's ultra-high tech bunker basement (circa The Dark Knight Rises). Every single time I've visited, there have been copious representatives on hand to help. They're always friendly, knowledge, and no-pressure. I love the way Apple presents its products. The units are neatly organized into groups, allowing you to comparison shop. The iPads they pair with each product make it easy to learn about the specs (and I'm a specs guy, so that's nice). The handheld checkout devices that the representatives carry make checking out super-convenient. It's no wonder the brand new Microsoft store that opened nearby takes many of its cues from this store. Today, the adapter on my Macbook Pro crapped out. The friendly folks here have squeezed me into their busy Genius Bar schedule. And while I wait, I get to chief the 5k iMac to Yelp around while I wait. That's dedication. My phone sucks! I have an XS Max, been to the store multiple times with the same issues. They send me home every time so I can spend 8 hours of my life doing backups and restore. Now, I have to wipe my phone and manually add one thing at a time back, I need to remember 100 passwords for all my apps, I don't work for Apple, wtf do I need to do the warranty work that's included with the $1,500 phone I bought? Isn't that their job?!? I'm so sick of apple! I've had an iPhone since the very first one and now, it's time for a switch to Samsung! I had an issue that could've easily took 30 mins at most. My airpods weren't charging for some reason and I just needed someone to just look at it. All the employee at the door had to do was just try to charge my air pods, troubleshoot it and replace them if it was unsuccessful. I've gone with people who had the same issue and he was standing around doing nothing. I told him it was my only day to come and he refused to fix my issue. It was a small task. It wasn't like a phone that needed to be backed up or anything. All I needed was a switch out. I'm in pain and came all the way here in pain to be turned away? This place is located in the Destiny USA mall, we took an iphone that was having battery issues to get it checked out. The place was crowded of course it was the Saturday before Easter so I should have perhaps expected this and it is the Apple store after all. They did have an abundance of staff though. We got our name on the list and were told it would be about 45-50 minutes and that they'd send a text when we were about 10 minutes before we could be seen. System worked great, we grabbed some lunch and just as we walked into the store we got the text, lingered around and within a few minutes we met with the Genus Bar guy who ran some diagnostics and quickly discovered that apparently 13 year olds love snap chat, and identified it was the settings that was draining the battery, provided some recommendations that I don't know if the 13 year old heeded to more probably because she was deep in snap chat convo with friends. All in all a great experience super efficient staff was helpful and thankfully no new phone to purchase. read more

The "genius" told us we were all set, phone sent out, loaner provided....we got a call on the way out of mall to come back. Whoops, it's not free it's $300. Waited in line to be given a 1:30 appt. returned, waited online again to "check in" to be told appt is 1:30-2. OUTSTANDING! My husband and 3 kids came here to get 3 iPhone screens fixed on February 17. We didn't have an appointment. We checked in about 10:30 am. An hour later they texted me to let us know they were ready for our phones. We bring them back, they say about 90 min per screen but should be done in a total of 90 min. We checked back 2 hours later and they were ready. Everyone that we encountered there was absolutely professional and super friendly. Once I saw the store at first it looked small, but once I went on the inside I saw how big it really is. There is a lot of floor space and tons of products on display. The workers were also really helpful and being that the store isn't packed like the NYC Apple Store it is really easy to find a worker for help. Went to pickup an order I made and trade in an Apple Watch. They made it a nightmare, were rude whilst also being incompetent. First, the employees at checkin weren't wearing masks properly, and it took four of them talking to understand what an order pickup with trade in was. The employee who then was able to figure out told me this wasn't possible because you can't trade in multiple devices at once for cash. I clarified what I actually wanted. Finally one of the devices I was trading in wouldn't turn on, which i understand is completely my fault. I asked if I could charge it and they yelled at me saying due to Covid restrictions that isn't possible. When I asked how a wireless charger would increase touch points they didn't have an answer. They also wouldn't help me at all to figure out why it wasn't turning on because of covid restrictions, which makes no sense as they would touch it if I had traded it in. Despite having put that I wanted to trade in a device when I made the store purchase, they had no record of this and thus I'd have to pickup, return them purchase again. Without the trade ins I wanted to cancel the pickup, and it took four times saying this for the associate to understand. As one can only assume, this store is nearly always packed with customers. I've been an Apple owner of their various products for about 6-years, however, and this was the first time I'd ever been in for technical assistance for anything. Despite being packed, my wait time to be seen was only about 15-minutes, during which time I just found a stool and chatted with my friends who had accompanied me. Upon entering the store and being greeted to dealing with the tech guy, everyone was overly friendly and pleasant to deal with. While it did take a little bit of time (maybe 20-30 minutes) to finish my appointment, it was very efficient and still relatively quick. I left with a brand new phone and as a happy customer, which was a relief since I was prepared for the worst. read more

However, at any given time there are at least a half-dozen employees on the floor asking you what you need help with, constantly. After answering the first three inquires on my visit with "I'm just looking at cases, I'll let you know if I decide on one", I started getting annoyed.
