It's easy to dislike the Apple Store on your first visit because it's deliberately unlike most retail experiences. There isn't a cash register. There aren't any lines at all, really. And, egads, the staff is actually excited to be there...! This place is magical. I have seldom encountered such friendly, engaged people in a retail setting. Yes, they want you to buy stuff. But they'd also prefer that you buy the right stuff and get as much joy out of it as possible. That makes me sound naive, but I don't care. It's true. If you've purchased an Apple product in the past but have hit a wall, say with a software issue, I'd highly recommend one of their One to One sessions. They pair you with one of their trainers for an hour, during which you can ask any question you like and receive a helpful response. The point is, the Apple Store is different. (Ha!) The layout, the approach, the products. If you go in expecting to find what you had previously found elsewhere - then go elsewhere. If you're open to something new, then start asking questions when you're greeted. These peeps have answers. read more

I can't complain about this store. 95% of the customer service (in particular Genius service on my aged MacBook that keeps trying to kick the can) has been outstanding. The techs are incredibly helpful and have gone over and above for me multiple times. Even after my macbook passed the 5 yr window (where they can't do service anymore b/c it's too old), they've told me what I can fix myself (and how) and where to go for more complicated repairs. There's a couple bad seeds in the store, but overall almost everyone has been so kind and helpful. I'll keep coming back to this shop.. they're fabulous. read more

HORRIBLE Staff, Avoid at all costs!! Let me preface this by stating that I've been a very loyal Apple customer for over a decade now, having owned multiple MacBook Pro's, iPads, iPods, etc. I was initially attracted to Apple's products for digital media editing, luxury products, and customer service. Unfortunately, I have witnessed Apple distance itself from high-end hardware in lieu of "simplifying" the products they sell to attract those who don't need a nice graphics card or memory options in their computers. Seeing rising prices for products that don't feature hardware improvements had me weary to begin with, but my recent experience with the "Genius'" at this Apple Store was the straw that broke the camel's back. The Situation: My mid-2012 MBPr had a "service battery" indicator, so I brought it into the 29th St Mall Apple Store in Boulder, CO to have them take a look. After running a diagnostic, they concluded it was a defective battery and would perform the replacement free of charge. After having it a few days, they called me to say they would no longer honor their quoted work because they said there "appeared to be water damage", which I assure you I have NEVER spilt any liquids on ANY of my devices. Ever. But they said I did, so I told them to button it back up, and I would just come grab it. I've been used to carrying a power cord with me, so it should be business as normal. I picked up my laptop and returned home only to find out it no longer turns on. At all. So, I called 1-800-MY-APPLE and spoke with a senior tech support agent in Cupertino who walked through all the rebooting tricks with me, none of which worked. The agent decided to call the store that performed "the repair" and called me back 30 minutes later to inform me that the Genius Admin had told him that it probably doesn't work because "the customer tossed or threw the laptop in the store after we gave it back to him." ....Really?! wwwhy would I do that? I informed him that they straight-up LIED to him, and I want them to pull security footage to SHOW ME throwing my laptop, or anything similar in nature. This senior advisor informed me that he could've helped me with the repair had it not been for my apparent "throwing my own laptop in the store." His hands were tied, so I went straight into the store and started talking to the manager about the issue. After waiting another 30+ minutes for the manager and his cohorts to get on the same sheet-of-music, he returns to tell me that the admin "must've confused you with another customer that had a similar issue". I had to stop him mid-lie and explain to him that everything is tracked by serial number, I'm not an idiot, you're boy hiding in the back is simply trying to cover his tracks and save his job. I then suggested he clear the airwaves and notify the senior tech advisor that incorrect information was passed along, and I did not damage my own computer. Manager's response: "No, I'm not going to do that." Me: "So what now, I'm just SOL? I bring a fully functional computer in, into APPLE, and pick it up completely Dead. That's MY fault?!" Manager: "...it had water damage, computers die. Not our fault." Now...with those hefty prices Apple charges for their devices that are limited in hardware, you would Think you are paying for customer service or SOMETHING in addition to just a shiny box it comes in. Apparently, that is not the case. I have never experienced such a horrible customer service nightmare like this in my life. Not only did the folks at the Apple Genius break my laptop, they blamed me for it!! Then went on to say "We can still do the repair for you! But it's going to cost you $1,475." Really?! You expect me to give you more money after receiving the absolute WORST treatment possible from your staff? Way to go, staff at 29th St Mall Apple Store, you have successfully deterred a loyal Apple customer away from ever buying any of your products ever again. I have since, wisely, taken that $1,475 and put it towards an extremely powerful ASUS ROG MX501 that costs much less than a MBP, and blows the MBP out of the water in tech specs. In Summary: What was once a company that offered luxury products at luxury prices, now only retains the luxury prices. They simply want you to buy an overpriced $3,500 laptop that cannot be upgraded or even have the battery replaced. How environmentally friendly is it to throw out an entire computer when all it needs is a battery replacement? Not possible with everything glued and soldered in to a machine that will only have you in their store with them telling you "It's dead, buy a new one." No more "luxury" specs, features, and most importantly, customer service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNETHICAL STORE!!! They will break your devices and blame you for it. read more

I am an avid Apple product owner. I will always be one. SO, Is the Apple Store located in Boulder 29th St a place to go? A BIG NO. Why? Terrible customer service. After working in a high end retail store CUSTOMER SERVICE is a vital part of the job description. Here, I received none. No hellos. No help. Not to mention the multitude of staff working and the lack of customers there. I understand sometimes the customers can be overwhelming here so I decided to go back a few times, but unfortunately was let down again for the lack of help I received. Fantastic customer service! I have exercised my warranties several times on my Apple products and I have always came away amazed by the willingness to help without a lot of red tape. Customer service, awesome product design and aesthetics, and superior usability make me a staunch supporter of Apple products. However, I dropped my MacBook off one time to be serviced, and I swear it came back with way more scratches than when I dropped it off. I may just be paranoid...Apple did offer to replace the outer casing though, which is sweet. Also, the store is always VERY crowded. I get technical help from this store USUALLY, but almost every time I sit uncomfortably on a wooden stool with no back for hours. I am elderly, disabled and a senior. I have a service dog. So let me be clear: I PURCHASED an iPad at this store before Christmas and service was great. (I'm thinking service is always good when you're laying out a few hundred dollars??) I am writing this review on December 13, 2021. The date is significant because it is the date I discovered that the formerly wonderful Apple Store at 29th Street Mall in Boulder is no longer the delightful, helpful, customer centered haven it once was. The staff is just as brilliant, just as aware, just as tech savvy as ever. There is now, however, a Troll under the bridge. A manager (I was there at 11:35 a.m. on December 12: so someone could find out who was 'on duty' that day) who rushed us, plagued my Genius Bar genius by repeatedly coming by - actually giving her other work while she was helping me, told us 'your time is up'. We have a 'time is up'? Since when is there a 'times up'? After she was about half way through with what I had set up the appointment to accomplish, he actually told her to move on to the next appointment. He said I could stay and then trolled me for ten more minutes until I gave up and left. As we sat there, five other Apple 'helpers' were standing around waiting for assignments and could not come to me to help when I signaled I needed something. My dog even now feels unwelcome. She is a glorious Golden Retriever who used to get attention and treats and did her best to make her usual contribution to the well being of the community formerly known as Apple Store 29th Street Mall. Technicians here are uneducated/misinformed on the Apple Warranty policies. Do not take your bent iPhone to this store and expect them to honor the warranty. This was my worst Apple Store experience. My iphone 7 Plus was bent. There was no other evidence of physical damage. I chatted with an Apple warranty specialist over the phone before going into the store and she confirmed that a bent iphone is covered under warranty (when there is no other evidence of damage). I went into this store, and the RUDE technician told me that is not covered under warranty, even after I showed him what the Apple specialist stated over chat. So, I elected to ship the phone to Apple and they have replaced it at no charge because it IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. read more

Every single Apple store has a ton of customers at any given moment. My iPhone wasn't going back to the home page when I clicked on the button (I know, I am not technology savvy - please excuse the awful explanation). I expected to have to wait in line but right when I walked in, the "greeter" asked me what I needed and he helped me out with my phone. Granted, he had a job to do, so I had to stand up in the front while he greeted people and played with me phone (that was slightly awkward). The first man handed me off to a second young man who established my wireless carrier connection and then without taking the phone out of the box said 'you can take this home and complete the setup'. I said 'are you sure?'. 'Yes,it's easy'. 14 hours later and two calls to AT&T to synchronize my iwatch series3, I am set up. Having spent $1400, it would have been nice had he spent the additional time to make sure all was working well before I left the store. Really bad customer service at this store. Second star? After my battery died on my phone less than seven months after buying it, I was told to bring it down to the store for repair. Once I got there, they told me that they could not repair my phone and that they would have to sell me a new one for $350. They were total scam artists and absolute jerks when they found out that I did not want to buy a new phone. I will be joining the class action lawsuit against Apple because of the faulty batteries, but I would strongly suggest shopping elsewhere for your technology needs due to the unprofessional nature that the business manager handles things. read more

In store, in person.....great. Sending things away for repair and trying to get accurate information.....poor. Called to inquire about the status of the repair on my computer as the process was taking longer then I was told. I never got to speak to someone the first time (on hold for too long) and the second time, I was given the run around about 3-5 business days and weekends don't count. I dropped my laptop off on a Thursday and was told they would ship it off that day. Received a text message on Friday morning stating that they were starting repairs and then crickets. Finally was able to talk to someone 5 days later who told me two different things as to when they actually started the repair. Zero accountability. read more

I knew it would be a stretch but when I walked in they got an associate to me very quickly and let me do the exchange even though there is a 2 week return policy! They were quick and effective. I once was a PC/Microsoft fan boy and scoffed at Mac users. I had occasion to visit this apple store the day after spending all day on the phone with Sony AND Microsoft tech "support". By the end of my visit, I owned two new macs and two iPhones. What sold me wasn't the hardware or software; but the store and it's employees. Ever tried to buy a laptop at Circuit City? Now you know why they are out of business. Ever have a problem with a PC? Frustrating, isn't it? The employees at the Apple store are friendly, knowledgeable, and don't speak "geek" unless you force them. They don't even "sell"; but are great at explaining how you might have your computing needs met by their products. The best brand-building exercise they have is "One-To-One". For $99 a year you get 52 weekly on hour tutoring sessions on anything relating to your Mac. I've found these to be incredibly helpful. Since switching to Macs, I've spent zero dollars on maintaining our computers in my business or my house. Zero. The store is busy and noisy and crowded. If you are thinking about buying something, and have questions, go online and setup a personal shopping appointment. It's free, easy, and gives you the undivided attention of an Apple employee for an hour. Or, go to Circuit City...oops! Go to Comp USA...oops! You could go to Best Buy...good luck with that. read more

The worst. Buy online. They can't even keep straight if they have an item in stock. Waited an hour to speak to a salesperson. Then I'm told the watch was not in stock and they can't order it for me, to order it online. So, I leave, find the watch at Apple online and it says it's available in the very same store I just left for pickup.! When I called the store, waited another 1/2 hour, Leslie was extremely rude. She did admit that they had many in stock, but would not hold the watch until I came back in, again. Said if I wanted it, I would have to drive all the way back to the store and hopefully they'll still have it. So, I go all the way back to the store and I'm told again that the watch is not in stock, even though Leslie said it was, just 10 minutes earlier! They don't give a rats ass about customer service, wasting people's time, are extremely rude and have ZERO clue on what they're doing. Just a bunch of burn-outs working there. This may end up being a lengthy story, so tl;dr version: I brought a MacBook in for a display repair. It was dropped off with a working TouchBar, and picked up with a non-functioning one. Now, due to a business trip, I will be without my computer for the next month. I will preface this with some background info. I am a software developer, so I am not a casual computer user; I rely heavily on having a working computer for work, so any time that I have to have it repaired is money lost. I also live an hour from the two closest Apple Stores: the one at Flatirons Crossing and the one at 29th st. So a round trip to the Apple Store is 2 hours of time out of my day. I purchased a new MacBook Pro 13 inch w/ TouchBar back in early February of 2018. It worked well for a month or two until the Logic board failed due to defect and needed to be replaced. I was living in Canada at the time, so I brought it to an Apple Authorized Shop for repairs. 5 days later, my computer was fixed and back to normal... or so I thought. Fast forward another month or so and I have moved back to Colorado. I had discovered that somehow the lower-right corner of the lid near the hinge was bent, but was disguised using the hard shell I had on the computer to protect against that very type of damage. As I stated, I heavily rely on a computer, so I am incredibly careful with my machines. I had a hard shell to protect from any potential damage and I have never dropped the computer. The only conclusion that I was able to come to was that the computer was damaged by the "Apple Authorized Repair Shop" and hid the damage with my hard shell. The damage was merely cosmetic for a while until one day I opened the lid to find that the display was now malfunctioning. I immediately brought it into the 29th st store for repairs. Unfortunately, there was no way to prove that it was the last repair shop that caused the damage, and there is no AppleCare Plus available in Canada, so this was classified as accidental damage and I needed to pay for the repairs out of pocket. $500 down the drain, but I can understand where they are coming from. I dropped the computer off on June 11th and waited the whole work week until the 15th for the repairs to be done. So far, I have had to drive 4 hours (2 times 2 hour round trips). Great! I thought that my woes would be over. Little did I know that I would return home to catch up on the weeks work that I had missed, only to discover the TouchBar was no longer functional. I contact support and make an appointment for the next day, the 16th at Flatirons Crossing, since 29th st was booked. I go in at my appointment time, but have to wait for an hour since there is only one laptop technician on duty. I don't blame him for the wait, he was juggling 3 different customers including myself, so I applaud him for his help, even during such a busy time. We discover that the TouchBar was never calibrated after the repair, and upon attempting to do the calibration, discovers that the "touch" part of the TouchBar is not being detected. This indicated to me that they are cutting corners on the post-repair checks. I thank the Flatirons employee for his help and drive to 29th st to try to get this problem fixed. I arrive and get referred to the "head genius". He tells me the only thing he can do is send it to the repair facility for another 3-5 days. I already had to leave on June 20th for a business trip and was mad that I had to bring the computer back less than 24 hours later for a mistake made by the repair techs at 29th st. The "head genius" was condensing and ended up ganging up on me with the store manager to try to get me to leave the store. I had now spend another hour driving to Flatirons, an hour or so waiting there, and 30 minutes driving to 29th st. Neither the manager nor the "head genius" were sympathetic or were willing to compensate me for the insane amount of time and money that I had spent to fix a problem that didn't even exist prior to me bringing in the computer. Finally, after 5 hours of trying to fix this, I gave in, left them with the computer, and drove home. I will not be able to pick my computer up until mid-July when I return. After an hour drive back home, I was furious that I had just wasted 5 hours just to get told to send it for repairs again and absolutely zero compensation for the inconveniences that the 29th st employees had put me through. As a final "kick in the jewels", I received an email stating that my product was available to pick up. I jump in the car to arrive before closing only to find out that they were referring to a replacement charger for the MacBook that I no longer had. The employee said that I should have called the number to check what was the product to pick up, which I did and was immediately sent to voicemail. 2 more hours = wasted. Don't bring your machine for repairs here. I'd say, don't even give them your business. Go to Flatirons read more

Spent $300 when I bought my MacBook Amateur for repair insurance. Indeed, my computer broke 18 months later. Took it back to the store. Everyone is all smiles. "You'll get your computer back in 3 days, fully repaired. Leave it to us.". OK. That was Monday. Friday rolls around (day 4), no sign of the computer. So I check the repair status site: " Shipment to repair center pending". WTF? It hasn't even left the Boulder store? Seriously? Got transferred around 3 or 4 times before I spoke to anyone who knew anything. The excuse: They were out of boxes to ship it back. Boxes? Are you effing kidding me? Here is a thought, on Monday maybe they could have told me that they didn't have any boxes and scheduled for me to come back when they did. They have cost me a week's worth of work over a friggin' box. Are there no boxes anywhere in the Denver area that could have been brought up for another store? Maybe Apple doesn't have enough cash to splurge for a messenger to deliver some boxes. Oh, I forgot, they are the richest company in history. No excuse for this. None. read more

I came in on a Saturday evening with a broken Mac Book Pro charger. They were not busy and had three people at the door to greet me. I tell them that my charger is broken and I think they offer some kind of replacement if it breaks with in one year of purchase. The first woman was not able or did not want to to put my email into her device to see if I purchased the charger within a year. The second woman gave me a condescending attitude when I asked her to look up my account. I gave her my name, phone number, and two possible email addresses. She acted as if I was imposing on her to look up this information. Again they were not busy and the three employees at the door were not busy. This second woman continued to be condescending. I asked to speak to the manager of the store. She asked why I needed to speak with the manager continuously rather than to simply go get the manager. After a few more of my requests to speak to the manager she finally went to get a manager. I went to the accessory area of the store where they might have had chargers and waited a short time for the manage. This manager had a bad attitude and asked me why I wanted to speak with him and what I was trying to accomplish. I told him I did not appreciate the tone of the second woman who greeted me at the door and that she seemed annoyed when I asked her to look up my purchase records. The manager acted unprofessional and continued to ask me what I was trying to accomplish. After a bit of his abuse I took my phone and started recording our conversation. I did not attempt to hide this. I wanted a recording of what transpired from that moment on. Apparently this manager did not like me recording him and he called security. I asked the manager for his name and a name and phone number of his boss or regional manager. The mall security came and the manager continued to refuse my request for his full name and a contact name and number of his boss. I left the store, I recorded the entire episode of the rude manager and the security guys. I walked across the street to the Best Buy and told them what happened. The salesman at the Best Buy told me that the Apple Store employees at the 29th Street Mall Apple store are rude to many customers and the customers end up going to the Best Buy for purchase and repair of their Apple products. The Best Buy is an Authorized Apple Retailer and they can assist on repairs of Apple products. I'm a 61 year old person who does business in the Boulder, Colorado area and I believe that any customer should be treated with respect. The young whippersnappers at the 29th Street Mall Apple store need a lesson in manners and customer service. I'm in the market for both a new MacBook Pro and the new Mac Pro. (Not the trash-can, but the new one they recently announced.) I certainly will not be purchasing these products at the 29th Street Mall Apple Store and I'm considering saying F**k the Apple Mac products. They are now cheap pieces of garbage that are not made fior professionals anymore. They are made cheaply and cost a fortune. I may as well get PC products that are more powerful and built for creative pros. Apple can keep their fashion slim sh*tty computers with just a couple of ports for the hipsters who have attitude at the Apple Store. Apple is no longer manufacturer of professional products and software. They are a phone manufacturer of cheap crap designed to fail. And the Mac sycophants and the Apple Store can continue to think they are the coolest people on the planet. Or even in the entire universe. Screw them. Prior to my interaction with Ashley, I was ready to return all products purchased from Apple and search for an alternative cell phone maker, tablet maker, computer manufacturer etc. However, Ashley was so understanding and accommodating that she made me want to purchase more items from the store and continue my relationship with the company. I've been to this store three times now in the process of trying to get some help with an older MacBook Pro and finally with the purchase of a new one. I've made two appointments with the genius bar and was helped promptly and on time both times by friendly people who were knowledgeable and helpful. When I bought my new MacBook Pro, there was a mistake when my order was entered which took quite a bit of time to resolve. (It was a simple data entry error that was complicated by dealing with Barclays bank) The employee helping me and the manager both spent close to two hours on the phone working tirelessly to get it fixed, which they did. In additional to possibly writing off over 300 dollars due to the order mistake (depending on how things work out with Barclays), the manager also gave me over 250 dollars worth of merchandise for all the trouble and thanked me repeatedly for my patience. When I came back in a few days later they both remembered me and ask how things were going. Every employee I've met there has been courteous, helpful, and willing to answer questions. I couldn't be more satisfied and would recommend this store to anyone. read more

The worst Apple store I've ever been to. My MacBook charger breaks all the time because it's made to break so they can charge you $80 for a new one. I have apple care so whenever it breaks I used to go into the Apple store and just get a new one (after waiting for like 4 hours of course) but when I went to this Apple store some dorky ass guy came up to me and was like what do you need? And I said my charger broke I need a new one and I have Apple care. He very rudely said "Well do you have your laptop?" And I said uhh no I only have the charger. And he said "well I can't see if you have Apple care without your laptop" and I said umm I've been to the Apple store multiple times before for this and they can usually do it with my Apple ID. And then he backtracked and was like okay I can do it like that I guess. And I said okay then he told me my charger was fake and I bought it off amazon because it didn't have an Apple logo. The bald greasy beef ball (I think his name was John) was so rude. He lacked any knowledge or insight on nearly every question/concern we had. He did not help us in anyway and seemed extremely under qualified. Rachel helped us initially (who seemed intelligent and could be useful) and was initially pleasent but quickly realized she was very uninformed so she grabbed here "manager" John. I say "manager" because if he is actually a manager, he is the worst, rudest, and just overall one of the least informed workers i've ever encountered (Even a first day hire would have more intelligence and expertise on apple policies and products). He was rude to me and I was just there to support my boyfriend because he was pissed about how they screwed him over earlier. John (the greasy larde) rudely told me to stop talking for my boyfriend (even though my bf asked me to come to do so because he hates confrontation). Just grimy and unhelpful experience. The responses to my questions were monosyllabic and condescending. When I asked about the keyboard issue with the newer Mac books, was told it wasn't an issue and basically that I was buying into false rumors. I purchased my iPhone through AT&T, but an Apple Store helped me set up my last phone and did a nice job. I explained this to the the greeter at the front, and he said that they don't assist people with their iPhones. My parents still get theirs set up through an Apple Store, so I'm not sure why this Apple Store wouldn't help me. read more

Since I have a small crack in the corner I would have to pay $150 to have the screen replaced before they can fix the problem with their faulty equipment. The manager told me I could get it fixed outside of Apple even though that would completely void my warranty. Honestly worst apple experience ever. The manager John V. isn't helpful at all. He wrote that my phone was mutilated even though I have a small crack in the corner. The crack doesn't even effect the display. He actually tried putting a hold on my serial number so I can't go to any other Apple Store. Thankfully corporate Apple is way better, they will be completely replacing my phone. Hopefully this terrible manager gets let go from Apple. I will never return to this location again. read more

Spent $4,800 on a computer and 3 iPhones in the last 6 months, they refused to replace a faulty iPhone charging cable that costs them $2. Asked to speak to a manager, he was equally unhelpful. Might be time to switch back to using PC's. read more
