My iPad Pro was having a difficult time installing the new iOS 1 5.0.2 for reasons passing understanding. At about 10 o'clock last night I managed to schedule an appointment with the Apple store at Westfarms mall in West Hartford Connecticut so that a tech could look at it in person. My appointment was for 5 PM today. I got there a few minutes ahead of time and was greeted pleasantly and asked to sit down and they would be with me in a few minutes and they were. A technician asked me several questions about the problem, seated me at the table and said he would be right back. He came back with his Macbook, connected up my iPad, put it in DFU mode, and in less than 30 minutes I had ios15.0.2. Through the process he showed me how I could've done this at home if it ever happens again. Terrific job by great people at the Apple store! read more

I walked into this store to buy a product. Instead of walking the sales floor or doing anything useful, a clutch of employees were leaning against tables talking. What? You can't stand on your feet? It has to be tush to table? Cool. They saw me walk in and go right to the product I wanted. I know this because the product was five feet past them. Since this store can't just have registers like a normal store, you need an employee to come over and ring you out. I had to go interrupt the gossiping teen boys (ok they were men in their thirties but as far as I care, they had the souls of gossippy teen boys). Nobody who works at this store seems to understand that it is their literal job to help customers. Finally a woman helped me. Interesting. Only saw women helping people. All the men standing around talking to each other like they had a thumb up an orifice. After insisting I give her enough personal information to successfully steal my identity if the store wanted to, I was allowed to purchase some headphones. When I left, the manchildren were still talking about their video game, as they had been the entire time. I think the 20 min I spent in there showed me enough about the management of that location that if I were making decisions, I'd be cutting people. Crap leadership leads to crap behavior from your team and crap experiences for customers is the end result. Thank god I was just passing through and don't have to go back there. Slack jawed buffoons. Never came here for service and left feeling good about Apple or this particular store. Came with dead pixel issue on the phone and they refused to replace the phone even though it is under warranty. Rep wasn't particularly polite and his approach was sub. Store reeks of weed smell. I am reconsidering my 15+ years relationship with Apple products. This store is located in the Westfarms mall. Not the best Apple Store, but convenient. When you enter this establishment, you can tell how busy it is since there are people in every corner. The store is nice and has pretty much every Apple product currently on the market. It was a little difficult to get some help even though there were many employees walking around. We went in to find a case, and almost ended up with the wrong one. We finally got some help from one associate. While we're checking out, we are interrupted by another associate asking a question. so we had to wait until that conversation was done and finally got checked out. The place seemed a little disorganized, but that could be expected since every single person seems to have an apple product. If you're visiting the store, it would be best to know exactly what you're looking for before you arrive. read more

Big fan of Apple here and whenever I need to explore new products or more often need help or a repair, I always go to this location, even if it's a longer drive from where I am. This Apple store has attentive service, very short wait times, excellent, knowledgeable service, and truly feels like you're getting well taken care of. Every Genius Bar tech I've ever worked with here has always been super helpful, knowledgeable and quick to assess and fix. They don't try to upsell you. And you feel like they are eager and happy to help. It's always a pleasant, easy experience--which is not always the case elsewhere and impressive considering I usually come in stressed because of a problem with my phone/computer and potential $$$! I feel like here everyone I've interacted with is so kind and friendly that it's instantly calming and most of the time they just work their magic and voila it's all working again just fine (without needing to spend any money!)! One advantage at this location is that they have a lot of staff that works here so even though it's busy, you get quick service! They also have a whole area set up for classes which is cool. read more

It's usually a madhouse! The Staff try to bring order to the madness via their iPads and ear pieces. Being at the top of the heap in technology its expected. Recently, on a purchase day for the wife, I recommended getting to the Store an hour before opening. That would allow for our usual "delay factor (10-15 min.)" and then time. It was a Sunday, opening time at 10:00 am. We arrived at 9:10, a queue had all ready started & we were 4th or 5th. Staff were inside for their pre-war game pep rally. Then, at 9:30'ish the gate cracked open. Two brave staff slipped under the gate and it closed quickly behind them. Face-to-face with the gathering hoard, they quickly and efficiently gathered information from each person or persons, such as us. Great method! At 10:00 the gate went full open and the Clash of the Apple Titans began. However, there was sense of order and balance on the beach front. Your name and need was all ready logged and you were greeted immediately by a pre-assigned technician. Off to business without waiting any further. Hats off Apple Staff. Today, this store taught me why Apple has such a bad reputation. I received Apple ear buds as a present for Christmas yesterday that failed to connect right out of the box. After hours of troubleshooting and calling customer service, I was given an appointment at the "genius bar." I went to the appointment, and the in-store technician confirmed that there was a wiring issue preventing the earbuds from connecting. Any other business would've said, "Our apologies for shipping out a defective product, here's a replacement." But not the Westfarms Apple Store. Technician and manager both agreed that the best they could do was ship the ear buds out for "repairs" for 2 weeks, and I "might" get them back fixed. I called Apple Customer Service again to try fix this issue, but they offered no solution. Because it's Apple, there really is no recourse when their own merchandise is shipped broken. There is no ability on behalf of the consumer, and no willingness on behalf of the company, to enforce the Apple warranties. The best I can do is vent on here and, hopefully, warn a few people to stay away from this store and their products. read more

This is an odd experience at Apple repair experience at Westfarms, different than other Genius Bar experiences I have had owning many various Apple devices over decades. Made a Genius Bar appointment for a Sunday around noon, for a battery replacement on a MacBook Pro. They "don't have the parts" so it has to be shipped to Repair, promised a return by Thursday. Assured me that I could track its progress through a link the texted me. It's Wednesday, and the link still says "We'll be sending your product to the repair center soon." I called Customer Service on Monday, again on Tuesday, escalated the issue, spoke to the store itself -- they claim it was shipped but can't say when and "don't have access" to any tracking. Blamed it on Fed Ex, but never provided any Fed Ex tracking number or updated my repair status as sent to the repair center. Customer Service says to wait until next Monday to determine if they have LOST my MacBook Pro with all my personal files and information on it. Over a prepaid $250 battery replacement. I need this laptop and this version OS to run my programs -- and it seems ludicrous for me to be unable to complete my work on it all week for a battery replacement. So if this laptop re-emergences magically somewhere in this repair process, Apple Westfarms still gets a one-star review from me. How could they process the repair but "have no access to the information" to be able to track the machine? They were reassuring when they took the machine and took my prepayment for the repair, but impolite and callous when asked to provide proof of shipment for repair. On Thursday, the day it was promised returned to me, and it still doesn't register in the repair system, or even shipped for repair, on the fourth day. On Friday, Apple Customer Support called the store yet again, to find out what was going on, and the store gave the excuse that "they didn't have the right box." So my MacBook Pro sat in that store through the whole work week, and "Tito" lied when he said it was sent last Tuesday. Finally, on Saturday, my laptop arrived at the Repair Center. It took the whole work week just for this Apple Store to get my laptop to the Repair Center. Relieved they didn't lose it, but "Tito" at the store lied, and it took the entire work week for the store to handle the one thing that was their job, sending the machine to Repair for a battery. read more

Went into the Westfarms Apple Store on a Monday afternoon regarding a start-up problem with my MacBook Pro expecting to get in quickly...since it was a Monday afternoon...I was wrong. Even though the wait was just over an hour, I received excellent service from the staff at this location! Specifically, my technician, Cassie, was AWESOME. She was super understanding and great to chat with. Waiting there as they did their thing, it was great chatting with her and she did not make me feel like an idiot or anything of the sort. After being in the mall for 3+ hours, the issue was resolved. I was very thankful for her help on this -- she did literally EVERYTHING. I was afraid they were going to force me into buying a new macbook or charge me something crazy but Cassie made it her mission to fix this issue. So glad I saved myself $1200+ by coming in and having the genius staff jump right on this! read more

I'm not exactly a tech guy, and when my wife's iPad froze yesterday, I had no idea what to do about it other than suggest we get to the Apple store early. We were there ten minutes before ten, and the gate was down as we saw the huge sales staff huddle for their last minute instructions. A crowd of 22 by my last count was milling around outside the gate waiting for the store to open. A cheerful guy who sounded like a game-show host welcomed everyone and told us if you need service go here and if you need a salesperson go there. A very smart move to keep the traffic flowing. The gate went up and the customers flowed in. We went to the service line where a guy took our name and e-mail address and asked what was wrong. He directed us to a long counter with stools and told us to sit and someone would be over in less than 5 minutes. He sure was right. A young guy came over, and in the time it takes to read your horoscope he fixed the problem. The guy was terrific. I've bought three iPods here over the years. My red one died. My orange one got lost, and my silver one is going strong. I use it every day when I play music in my classroom during breaks or when the class is working on an exercise. Granted, I'm, not a huge Apple guy. I don't have an iPhone or an Apple computer. But every time we've come here we've been treated courteously and with great results. read more

I've always had great experiences in this Apple store. For the last week, my iphone X touch screen has been extremely glitchy to the point where I have to reboot every ten minutes. It's either completely unresponsive or opens random apps, deletes texts, and acts like it's got a pain in the ass little gremlin inside the screen. Realizing this wasn't going to get better, I made an appointment at the WestFarms Apple store last night for this morning. Within minutes of arriving I was being helped - luckily my phone was in the midst of acting up so the extremely pleasant associate could see for himself what the issue was. They diagnosed it as a screen issue and had me come back early afternoon to pick up the phone with a replaced screen. Luckily it was under warranty so there was no cost. Hoping this is my last visit there for a while, but I'm always so impressed by how friendly and helpful the associates are in the midst of such a chaotic, always packed store. read more

After getting serviced at a local Apple store near my home in Los Angeles, I have to say hands down, I've received best customer service at the Apple stores in CT! Today's bad experience (feel free to read my review on my account) at the Apple store in Northridge, CA made me really appreciate how awesome of a service I had here and at Apple New Haven (wrote a review for them as well). Last September, I traded in my old iPhone 6S for the coveted iPhone 11 after deferring the new models year by year. It had been some time ago, but I got it a week after the new release of the iPhone 11 models so it was definitely busy. However, this did NOT prevent the team here from providing excellent customer service. Given it was a busy time, Apple formed a factory line where you'd get serviced by different people. No problem. They managed to provide me a new SIM card, backed up my iPhone, set me up with the new iPhone 11, AND ensured I had retained my data and ability to make phone calls. You'd think this would be the norm, but I did not receive that experience at my local Apple store in California today when I brought my uncle in to set up his new iPhone XR. I wish I could have had my uncle at this location instead. Again, shout out to the team at Apple Westfarms for setting me up with my new iPhone 11 before I returned back home to CA. I like the convenience of having the store this close. I do not like the wait time and on my last visit I kept getting bumped to other employees. My discount was not applied and I was told to order in line and request store pick up. The staff is very helpful and friendly but you do have to wait a while. Customer service is bad, I went to pick up a item that I purchased online when I got there showed the order number and a digital ID. I was told that I needed a drivers license, on the website theres nothing stating that you cannot uses a digital form of ID. Having been a loyal Apple customer for decades, and a frequent flyer at the Westfarms store in particular with a business account, never mind an inside view from a corporate level about what their mandate is supposed to be...the management of these retail stores has completely nosedived. It is now about policy, perception, and profit, and the customer is now always, always wrong. This was the first time I have heard a manager and her supervisor tell me -- at any establishment -- that quoting 'policy' was in fact the 'proper' and 'adequate' resolution. 'Policy' is not a resolution. Fixing the problem --- that's a resolution. It is interesting that it took a call from a regional manager to make a part appear -- and congratulate the store manager for a job 'well done'. What was lacking in that call? "What happened to your computer should NOT have happened, and what happened at the store absolutely SHOULD NOT have happened on top of that. Walked into this store on Mother's Day today with my mother my two girls were with my husband and my mom's boyfriend outside the door to basically have a quick interaction and purchase. Upon my arrival I was not greeted when I walked in went up to the first face I saw happened to be an extremely rude worker."Genius" more like "menious" this man had a very rude demeanor from the start I asked first if I could see what's available phone case wise for my (iPhone 14) then I described what color I'm looking for I let it be known I was looking for two specific colors to see the differences, light blue, and the soft mint color I called it seafoam green since I felt that would be another way to describe such a light pastel green the worker was literally mocking me saying words back to me like I'm crazy asking to see these new iPhone cases that just released like two months ago. The interaction was so rude and uncomfortable it made me want to go and speak to some else I was let known that the only cases for (iPhone 14) in stock at the store were pink, clear, red and I believe black. So I take it upon myself to head over to the phone cqse wall section of the store and left the worker my mom beside me I decided to try on the (iPhone 15) case on my phone it was a near perfect fit! So I went up to the next face "genius" I saw and asked where can I pls purchase this as I hand over my item the original person who helped me on my arrival to the store comes storming over and yells at me saying oh your going to buy that well it won't fit your phone you'll see in an extremely rude manor I have never ever been spoken so poorly to by a worker of any establishment before. I am so disappointment Apple Store do better. I personally think it's really funny how snotty these works think they can treat people who are coming in either for help or to make purchases. It's a thing of beauty. It really is. No, I'm not talking about the Apple Store. I mean, yes, Apple Stores in and of itself are a simplistic, minimalistic, sleek and modern representation of what most electronics stores should look like. In this case, I'm speaking of the lady that stood in front of me today trying to get her iPhone looked at by the Geniuses. Guess what? She. Didn't. Make. An. Appointment. GASP. I mean, dur? Yes, dur. Anyone that has walked by an Apple Store, even without the intent of going in, probably noticed how insanely busy it was and may have felt like they needed an appointment just to walk in. Hell, half the time there is a crowd of people waiting outside the door for weeks at a time to procure the latest and greatest iDealie...so you never know. Anyway - so this lady is badgering the poor iPad girl. Louder and louder. Getting redder and redder. Her mouth kept getting bigger, so much so that I half expected her to turn into Tony Robbins [TONY ROBBINS HUNGRY] and eat the poor girl. Everyone knows you can't just WALK IN to an apple store; you need to reserve your turn. So, get out of line and move along. Five minutes of verbal abuse was nothing for this girl, as the lady failed to get in without an appointment, and begrudgingly went over to an iMac to make an appointment. I noticed she was trying to use the computer as a touchscreen, swiping and poking to get something to work. Yeah...I bet her iPhone issues are really complicated. MY appointment was in the iPad, and I waited just shy of 10 minutes for some help after checking in with the iPad girl (who seemed unfazed by the lady before me). Today was a MacBook Air issue, and my poor computer is still (as of this typing) getting looked over. But over my years of iPhone ownership, I have gotten replacements and accessories without the slightest hesitation or hiccup. I trust the same will happen with my computer (or they will actually fix it in house). This store in particular is my home base, and they are usually well stocked, well staffed, and always friendly - as well as always busy. Grab a computer, an accessory, or just hang out and play with stuff / surf the internet while other people visit far less interesting stores. read more

So I go to Apple Westfarms to purchase a phone with my Apple Card. I'm told I needed to do it at home to finance. I go home and purchase the phone (without carrier) 24 0%, great. I go the next day to pick up the phone at Westfarms. The tech and I sat down and transferred data to my new phone. After the download she hands me the phone and say "ok mr Spinelli you are all set to go!" Well the next day I go to use the phone with no connection. No SIM card. So I call Westfarms. The person I spoke to said she'd have to check with a genius. It should have come with the card. After about 20 minutes she came back apologizing saying you'll need to bring the phone in and we'll put in a SIM card. So I leave work to go to Westfarms. I speak with the store manager mike (didn't have business card) and explain the situation. He says, we can't give you a SIM card you need to go to AT&T . I told him the store told me to go there. Needless to say I received no service or apology of any kind from mike. I understand it was a mistake because the techs usually deal with phones that are purchased on line with Apple and carrier. That was not the case wit me. Obviously nobody checked if it had a SIM card including me. I would think the phrase "ok mr. Spinelli you are set to go! Enjoy yer new phone meant I can make a phone call with it, and believe she though so as well. Now I know everyone make mistakes, there are misunderstandings but when I ask mike the manager " how about an extra cord for my trouble" ( costing Apple I'm sure 10 cents) he says " sorry you got exactly what you paid for" I said what about your people telling me to come down and the card would be taken care of"? He says again that I was told wrong, you need to go to AT&T and that Apple gave me exactly what I paid for. Now I know I'm nothing to Apple although I've been using macs before mike was born starting with a color classic. I've told this story at least 10 times today and will continue. A 19.95 cord that cost 10cents to make and nobody would be reading this right now. read more

There are really only 3 (maybe 4) reasons for going into any Apple store. 1) You are looking to buy and Apple product; 2) You own an Apple product and either need to upgrade or replace it 3) You have an Apple product on the fritz or 3) You are looking for a quick charge for your IPhone. I have been the proud owner for many years of seveal IPod devices. I use it almost everyday when I run (I have not gotten that Chi running thing down yet)- so I was freaking out (just a bit) when after a recent run - what I like to call the "Apple Screen of Death" appeared on my Nano. I rarely go to this store (or any Apple store for that matter) unless it is to purchase a new device, so I was quite surprised when I entered and saw that it was very, very crowded. We found a sales person who told us that we needed to find the employee with the red IPad to schedule a time to go to the Genius Bar to explain our problem. It was like finding a needle in a haystack - but when she was eventually tracked down we were told we had over an hour wait...Boo! Walked around the mall and headed back at our prescribed time and were quickly assisted. We were helped by a very pleasant and knowledgable Genius named Martine who in no time was able to diagnose my problem and allow me the option of NOT having to buy a new generation IPod - they had the prior generation in stock that I was able to purchase for a fraction of the cost. Awesome, friendly, quick customer service - I can only imagine the emotional Apple users that their employees have to deal with on a daily basis..for many people these products are their lifelines to the outside (running) world. In the future I will follow these rules - *Don't go on the weekend unless you are prepared to wait...it's very busy *If you do want to go on a weekend - check the website and schedule a time to meet with the geniuses before heading to the store *Bring someone with you that is tech savey (Thanks Mark) that can help better explain your problem than "It just won't work" read more

It was jumping! Welcome to geekdom! Pretty cool place. I had an appointment and was instructed to wait at the apple bar or something. So I sat down and the customer service guy came pretty quickly to discuss my cracked iPhone screen. He asked if I had a tempured glass screen saver and I said yes. He said its cracked not the phone. I've been around the technological block and I can honestly say nobody provides the type of service, support and education that Apple does. Want to learn how to use a Mac? They have free classes. Want in-depth training: $99 gets you a year's worth of classes once a week on whatever you want. Buy a laptop, Ipod or any apple product and it stops working: make an appointment at the Genius bar and they will help you with it. Only once have I had to pay for a repair. 95% of the time the Genius bar has been able to help me for free and they have appointments all day that you can schedule online. Unlike Best Buy, Circuit City (RIP) or any other electronic store I've been to they actually know what the hell they're talking about. Apple employees are friendly and knowledgeable. This place is always busy. It's still not tough to find someone to help you though. I purchased a mac mini many years ago here & have been there a few time since. My last visit was to fix a minor problem I had with my iPod Nano. I had no problem making an appointment at the Genius Bar. I came back at my scheduled time & was promptly taken care of. My Nano just had to be wiped, nothing major. The technician was easy going & took care of me so I could take care of other more pressing business. The place is alright by me. I can't think of anything crazy that sets it apart from the other Apple Stores I've been in but I'd use it again. read more

Not surprisingly this Apple store -- like Apple stores everywhere we've been, from NYC to Atlanta to Nashville -- either fails miserably at its task or wildly succeeds. The task, of course, is selling or repairing Apple products. Our experiences over the years has been predictably up and down. But our two interactions in this store have gone very smoothly, the most recent this week we got a new MacBook Pro. The store was crowded and we were told someone would help us in less than 10 minutes. It was closer to 5, and he (his name is Peter) proved both knowledgeable and helpful. He gave us his full attention, answered our questions, and when the time came for purchase and delivery, everything moved quickly. It was a five-star experience, save for the fact that Apple products are so damned expensive. But -- we've been with Apple phones, iPads and computers for over 10 years, so we have to admit that didn't come as a surprise. The good times at the store this week certainly did, and we're happy for that. Hope yours goes the same way. read more

The rating is based on my last few experiences at this store. Last day I came in a weekend. There was a huge line. We stood in line and the gentleman helping us seemed to care less of my convenience. He just wanted to sell. Anyways that was still okay. Today we went to the store to get new iPhone XS at 7pm. The store is open till 9. First gentleman didn't know there is a process of trading in my old iPhone 7. Next lady called Stacy who is supposedly the manager told that she cannot help. She cannot take any new customers even though there is a 2 hr to closing time. How incompetent are your staff that they cannot handle 10 customers in 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great Apple Store. The place is always busy; but the merchandise is always organized and the setup is inviting. To a one, the workers are friendly and professional and respectful. They're also responsive to customer's needs and are always straight. It's a place where many people can be on edge about any number of things but the staff always has made me and others feel welcome and I have always been treated probably better than I deserve. read more

It was not just us but a bunch of people waiting forever to be helped. Very unfair. Westfarms is a lot cleaner and newer looking than most malls and has a few major department stores like Macy's, Lord & Taylor, Nordstrom, JC Penney. It has a nice variety of store categories including jewelry, shoes, clothing and apparel, designer handbags, etc. There are also some must-have mall food/beverage places like Cinnabon, Taco Bell, Sbarro's, Subway, and others like California Pizza Kitchen, PF Chang's. I had my MacBook Pro repaired recently and when I brought it home, there was a new problem that likely occurred because of the repair. Frustrated, I brought it to the store in hopes of an easy fix. The staff there were incredible, from the Apple genius, lead genius, and finally the store manager. They went out of their way to immediately resolve the problem on the spot and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. read more
