I went to Applebee's for an impromptu dinner with my partner, and it turned out to be a great experience. I decided to try the Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp, and I absolutely loved it. The flavors were bold and delicious--so much so that I found myself wishing for just one more shrimp (or maybe I was just being greedy because of how amazing they tasted!). Curious about their different sauces, I asked the waiter if I could sample two of their green sauces from other dishes, and she gladly brought them over, which was a nice touch. My partner enjoyed his buffalo tenders, and while I've had better tasting strawberry margaritas, this one surprisingly had me feeling a little wavy--something Applebee's drinks usually don't do for me, so that was a pleasant surprise! The ambiance made the experience even better. The restaurant wasn't crowded at all at the time we went, making for a relaxed and enjoyable meal. It's Applebee's. As far as general American food goes, this is a standard fare, run-of-the-mill establishment. The appetizers are probably the best value going, and it's open later than many of its counterparts. My meal was decent. The environment has simplified over the years. My girlfriend and I ate at this location on Valentine's Day. Our original reservations fell through and we were asked to wait 90 minutes for a table. We were pleased to hear that this location had open seating so we decided to give Applebee's a try. Upon arrival we were sat quickly. Our hostess originally was going to sit us at a high table and was accommodating when we expressed our preference to a low top table. Our server only took 3 minutes to greet us which we felt was appropriate. She quickly took our drink order and brought us our beverages quickly. She was pleasant while answering our questions about the menu. We both chose fillet (medium rare, loaded with grilled onions and mushrooms), grilled vegetables and cheese covered broccoli. Our steak was cooked perfectly medium rare but was a little chewy at times. Our vegetables were great and so was the broccoli. Our server was friendly and made conversation without overstepping. She knew just the right moments to have conversation and when to quietly bring us a refill or take away a cleared plate. She also brought us both refills before our drinks were empty, we didn't have to ask for a single drink which is commendable for me because I drink a lot of water. Overall our experience was great. Food is good but the service is very slow - and it's not because of the supposed worker shortage - I was there twice in the past 6 weeks on a week night when there weren't that many people in there. Running errands in the area, We decided to stop in for an early lunch before we had to start picking up the kids. No wait for as as the dining room was empty. Jessie came right over for our drink order. We decided to start with soups, clam chowder for Mrs B, French onion for me. For our meals, I chose a rack or ribs (Southern BBQ), while Mrs B chose the Santa Fe Chicken Salad. Food was fresh and great tasting and the portions were huge. While I probably should have ordered half a rack, Mrs B's salad sure didn't look like a small size. Service was great, as well it should be as it was still fairly empty when we left. read more

Before you look down and see complaints about food allergies or a bee buzzing around the restaurant, just remember it's Applebee's. Applebee's is generally a decent place to eat but it's not a top tier place to go. This restaurant wasn't bad. The food was alright. If you don't like one thing you can always get something else at Applebee's because they have a large menu. The brownie for desert was great. My waiter Dillon, was one of the kindest waiters I've had. He was very kind and genuine, with a good sense of humor. He was always making sure everything was alright and that our drinks were filled. Put it this way. If I could have someone like Dillon be my waiter and every restaurant I go to, I definitely would. Give this man a raise! read more

They were nothing like the usual gyoza/dumplings I get at most places. The filling meat was gross, they were really tiny, and the dipping sauce that came with it was not appetizing. I end up just eating the corners of the dumpling and not with the filling or sauce. :( Service: Our waitress was friendly with no problems. Dressing was a vingarette. Overall very tasty. The next salad was Oriental chicken. Again it had sliced almond. No need for them. The. Wonton noodles was a nice addition. It had Italian dressing. We were seated promptly. I asked if they have a Gluten Free menu as I've celiac and absolutely can not have anything with gluten. I was presented with a 3-ring binder with nutritional and allergy information - NOT a menu. This binder was a collection of pages with tables with the names of the menu items and an 'X' in a box if it contained one of the 12 allergens they listed. This was very difficult to decipher for several reasons including; the pages being in shiny sheet protectors, the tiny, crowded font, and the general layout of the page. My friend and I both order ginger ales (which tasted very odd, more like a mix of a lemon-lime and ginger ale.) When the server came I commented that the binder made it very difficult and I was only comfortable ordering the Nachos, which the information in the binder indicated should be safe. The server was kind enough to inform me that the Nachos actually were not gluten-free as the corn chips were fried in-house so there would be cross-contamination. We chatted a bit more and she asked if we would like to talk to the manager as I was at a loss as to what to order. I explained to the manager how I found the binder to be challenging and when I had finally made a selection I was informed that the item actually was not GF due to CC. I told her that the items (they also list their French Fries as being GF) in the binder should not be listed as being GF if they were not actually GF. She started to point out that there was a disclaimer (in tiny print) regarding the possibility of cross-contamination, she started to make excuses that as they have so many menu items they can't have a gluten-free kitchen. (Which I do get) When I said they should not be indicating that something is gluten-free when it is not, in fact, gluten-free was when she ROLLED HER EYES at me. She clearly has no idea how serious celiac disease is, and apparently does not care to learn. My friend and I left - she 'comped' the ginger ale, though I was willing to pay for it and I did give the server a tip as they did warn me off of the Nachos that could have made me sick for a week or more. Again, if you have significant food allergies, find someplace other than this place to eat as you may be risking your health. read more

I once mentioned that the chips were a bit salty last time I went, and they made a fresh batch of chips and tasted perfect. This used to be my favorite place. I want in this past Sunday, waited to be seated. It was not that busy. Once seated waited 9 min. To be greated by our waitress who was busy flirting with her other table of boys. She then comes over and says "in sure you have had plenty of time to look you ready to order" no we were not. This is the better Applebee's out of all the ones in our area. We have been here quite a few times for dinner and compared to the other Applebee's they are pretty decent. Every time we have gone we have had great service, and food was prepared as ordered in a timely fashion. We end up at the Auburn Appleebee's quite a bit, as my young kids seem comfortable with the selection there. It's Meh at best for my wife and me, but I've noticed a disturbing trend over the last year or so at this restaurant. We've noticed that the times we are there when its busy, the quality of the food and service suffers...greatly. As I write this, we had just come back from a Noon lunch there on a Saturday. We were seated promptly, and the waitress took a bit more time than usual to get our drink order. When she returned and took our food order, that's when the issues started. We waited about an hour for our food, and in that time, several other patrons had been seated, served, and left. Our waitress came back to tell us our food was coming every 15 minutes or so, but never offered any additional information. When we finally got our food, it was luke warm, under cooked, and parts missing. By this time my kids were pretty miserable, so we ate what we could and left. We could tell that the waitress knew that things weren't right (as we had glanced over at her several times discussing things over with other waitresses), but she felt it was best to ignore it, and go about her day like nothing was wrong. We really can't explain why parties with the same or more amount of people would be seated after us, but served and be able to leave before us. We had ordered burgers and chicken strips, it was mind boggling. On the way home, we started talking about the past dozen times we had gone, and what we remember the experience being. As our experiences are anecdotal, but we have come to the conclusion that this restaurant simply cannot give an acceptable meal when it's busy. I would choose another establishment during peak times. Sorry Applebee's you just aren't getting it done anymore, we are breaking up...and it's You, and not us that is the problem... read more
