Our ice waters came out and then we ordered. Mom got the bowl of NE Clam Chowder which she says was awesome. Loaded with clams and just the right thickness. My brother ordered the fish and chips. It was a big piece of fish and a ton of fries with coleslaw. He said it was perfect. I ordered the balsamic grilled chicken breast, rice and corn. It was grilled perfectly and seasoned well. It was perfect. We enjoyed our meals, they were fresh and cooked perfectly. This place is always busy. You can tell they are on top of their game. read more

Pub 99 always provides popcorn as an appetizer (salty and buttery, the way I like it) My partner educated me this day that they also can provide a pub crackers and cheese, but apparently only if you ask for it. I ordered through Pub 99 website. After 2 hours and the driver just sitting in a parking lot for 10 minutes, I decided to call to get my money back. It was 9pm, I called 2x and was put on hold to wait for the manager. I called back a third time and asked if there was a long wait to be seated and the person who answered said no. So I asked why the manager was not picking up if not busy. Never did speak to the manager. The food showed up over two hours later. It was cold and gross! read more

Been going to the 99 for decades - literally. We have been frequenting this location, specifically. Without a doubt, the portions are much smaller and prices much higher. I love how they reinvent their menu regularly but really, it's mostly to increase prices. I've been getting frozen mudslides here for decades. Their "new" size is awful. Small, lacking flavor, just bad. I won't get that anymore. These days, we make dining decisions based on value, taste/quality, dependability/predictability. If we're going to spend $110 on "pub fare" for our family of 4, I want it to be worth the price. The 99 is good. It's no longer great. And when I tell you we have dined here hundreds of times, that is NO exaggeration. But it's not going to be part of our regular rotation anymore. The value isn't there, the portions are not there (depending on the meal) and the prices are high for what you get and where you are. read more

Second visit to this chain and was disappointed! Their French Onion Soup is quite good, but If you are required (heath reasons) to avoid salt in high quantities, then this is not the place to go. Asked for a baked potato as a side, without salt encrusting the skin and our waitress said, no we don't do that, so we bypassed her opinion and asked management directly. Not sure he said, we might do that but need to check if we have it available... he never returned to confirm it was possible! However, before Mgmt. walked away added, it's a huge assumption to expect everyone to want a potato loaded with salt, whether you consume the skin or not. Therefore, please educate your staff and make it known this [no salt] option exists, just like all other restaurants that make an accommodation for high fat (veg cooked in butter etc) and salt. We won't visit a restaurant more than 3 times if there were any issues with food or service, so this chain has reached their last attempt to impress. read more

Last Tuesday I invited two friends to lunch at 99 on Southwest Cutoff Worcester, MA. The week before I had dinner with my daughter and we enjoyed the lobster roll special that comes with an app and dessert. That menu along with others were given to us and without any further ado, we all ordered the "so call special." The waitress brought our chowder and later returned stating that this was a weekend special. When our bill came we were charged individually for each item. Instead of our bill being $29.98 plus beverage, it came to $50.00 for lunch for each. We asked to speak to the manager who kept insisting the menu stated weekend only. She was correct but in view of just being there the previous Wednesday night, we ordered thinking it was their July special since the special is run through July. I asked why would you put the menu on the table with the other menus since obviously it confused us. She said for advertisement purposes. I thought she would understand where we were coming from. She refused to do anything about it and walked away. Our waitress couldn't believe it and insisted getting her back to resolve the issue but it was a lost cause. My family has been loyal customers since its inception but no more. This manager lacked the experience and skill in dealing with customer relations. About a year ago we would've given it four stars but within the past year, the food has been sent back because it's been uncooked or well over done several times. It becomes the talk around the bar about the problems with the kitchen and it's getting a little old. They need to step up their game a bit and really be more attentive toward the kitchen and service. Most of the staff are nice but could be more attentive. Simple, but sometimes that is all you need. While its a chain, 99 originated in New England so it feels pretty similar to most of the local sports pubs in the area. The beer selection is not as good, but its a bit cheaper ($6.50 for a 22 oz Be Hoppy). The food is at least as good if not better than your average suburban Massachusetts pub. I remember liking 99 growing up, but its been more than 10 years since I ate at one. I went with a basic bacon cheeseburger, which came with proper accompaniments and while they didn't have Dijon, they at least had brown mustard. They even cooked my burger to the ordered medium rare, which even non-chain restaurants seem reluctant to do. It wasn't particularly amazing, but I enjoyed eating it. I was skeptical of the fries at first, but they aren't bad. Not quite as crisp as I would like, but for whatever reason they work. Seasoning maybe? For ~$10, you probably won't find many better burgers in Worcester. read more

What can you say, it's the 99. When the choice is mine, I won't pick a chain, but it wasn't my choice. The service is polite and professional, the food came out quick. I had the lobster roll, which was quite large and came with fries and cole slaw. It is almost entirely claw and knuckle meat, I couldn't pick out any tail meat, so if you are looking for some tail, this isn't the place for you. What I like: the price and quantity of food you get. Quality isn't too bad. I like that there are no waits and are usually quick to get your drinks. The food usually comes out pretty fast also. What I don't like: the mediocre service which usually comes with chain restaurants. I asked for a seat for my infant and she brought me a dining chair then looked frustrated when she realized that she didn't listen to me. The waitresses are overall efficient but not friendly and most of them aren't knowledgeable of the menu. I came in here one time and asked what the soup of the day was and she said "I don't know, it's on this page". Like, really? With that being said, there was one waitress who was absolutely wonderful. She wasn't serving us but she still made conversation with us and was constantly around her tables. Her name is Deb. Very sweet, and I was told she works both lunch and dinner shifts. The $9.99 combos are great, and there are plenty of options for everyone. I like the steak because it's a small portion so I don't feel too guilty. I like the add combo feature and have a salad and then a mini desert. I really haven't ever had a "bad" meal, so I'll be coming back. Of all chain restaurants, 99 is my favorite. The food is fresh and the servers are kind. I really enjoy their fried chicken plate as well as their chicken parm. By far my favorite meal is a buffalo chicken salad, or buffalo chicken on nachos. The new nachos aren't as good as the old style, but they're still pretty good. I also wish they had better fries, but overall, always a good experience. read more

We had great food at 99 restaurants today. We had New Orleans shrimp for $9.99 upgraded to 3 courses meal for $3.99 extra and hot lobster roll with 3 courses meal for $19.99. I am very glad that the the coleslaw and the French fries can be substituted by mashed potatoes and the broccoli. We had soup, entrees and the deserts. Our server, Lisa is great. This is one of the more underrated restaurants in the area. We regularly dine out, and will often choose the 99 if we are trying to be cost-conscious. Last night was no exception. My wife's seafood dish was excellent and I loved the fish tacos. Our waitress - Stefanie - was outstanding. So, this is your traditional pub fare. What moved me to write a review was a phenomenal experience I recently had. I'm a vegetarian and have written previous reviews about how restaurants have failed majorly when mistakes were made and I was serviced something that contained meat. On a recent Sunday, I stopped here for lunch with my family. I was delighted to see a recent add of a vegetarian section to the menu, from which I ordered a black bean burger. When the food was brought out, I immediately realized I had been served a turkey burger. A waitress came over quickly, apologized profusely and explained that the server brought me the wrong plate. I do realize that mistakes happen but situations like this make me question the commitment to serving people with food preferences. The restaurant manager came to the table immediately and repeated apologized. He made no excuses, owned the mistake and agreed that these things cannot happen. He comped my meal, which was not necessary as I thoroughly enjoyed the correct meal when it was served, offered a free dessert and also gave us a gift card with the ask for us to return and give them another chance. Again, mistakes happen but this manager went above and beyond to hear my concerns and do the right thing. There isn't much more you can ask for! Oh, and the rest of my family enjoyed their meals! The kids meals are a great deal, including drinks and an ice cream sandwich. We'll definitely be back! read more

I just wanted to say I've always loved the 99(especially this one) and it's always felt homey and just plain nice. It's clean, the food is great and the portions are plentiful. A great bar too! What stands out most about this location is the wonderful staff,especially, Sheerre, our waitress last night. My parents and I were there for a low key Easter get away later on in the evening and Sheerre truly went out of her way to make sure we were all satisfied and had a great time. This meant a lot! This type of extra great service just doesn't happen these days. I'm so happy to have this particular 99 so close by! read more
