Long waiting time for waitresses to come up to your table, long waiting time to get your food, and long waiting time to get someone to come by for a refill. The food: the worst I've ever had at any Applebee's (considering I've been to several in Arizona, San Diego, Napa Valley...) The boneless buffalo are ALWAYS dry and hard to chew. The service: waitresses are always rude and a pain to deal with. Overall, whenever I visit the valley I rather drive to El Centro than visit the location in Calexico. read more

They've been open how many years and still have the second worst service I've ever encountered at a chain restaurant. The servers are always MIA and lord help you if you take a seat out on the patio. Every. Single. Time-- the concept of separate checks sends the servers running in terror-- where I presume they shuffle the orders at random, adding and subtracting items. The manager should be ashamed, but he or she is never to be found! Add to that; half the beers on the menu are not available-- never have been, never will be. Bring a book, because you're in for a looong wait. Then, only half your party is served, so you all sit around awkwardly until hunger breaks you down and everybody ends up sharing. I can say I'm a pretty good critic,better than some of the best of the best.Now I am not coming off as a smug guy but this restaurant Applebee's blows me out of the toilet.The meals are just plastic toys that children play with the fake kitchen.They give straws which I do not find it right for our oceans.The deals suck and the parties got birthdays blow.The only good food in there is when I bring food from Jack in the Box to the restaurant.The mac n cheese taste like a PS2 controller which in my opinion from eating previous PS2 controllers do not taste like that.Will come back. read more

Cookie cutter chain restaurant with tasty meals but nothing to write about. I just felt like writing a review so you'll have to suffer through. This is part of my semi-annual trip to Mexicali with Interface (www.interfacekids.org). Usually we finish the day on Friday and all go to El Ciclon, an asadero in Mexicali for Tacos and Beer. For all the gringos out there, an asadero is kind of like Mexico's version of a cafe. The sell tacos and quesadillas and soft drinks (we bring the beer). Lest I digress, my friend isn't too cool with eating mexican food in Mexico as he's had some serious GI issues in the past so we headed up to our hotel north of the border and there was an Applebee's across the street. They were not terribly busy but the service was a bit slow. The food was fresh and tasted good-just nothing to rave about. I'd love to rate El Ciclon but it's not in the US. So if you ever find yourself in downtown Calexico and are in need of food, feel free to go to Applebee's-it will likely taste like it does anywhere else in the US. read more

The worst experience i ever had is going to eat at. Apple bees. At Calexico ca we wait for 1 hour 30 minutes to get a table we never did and a family that came in they wait 5 min. and got a table they end being 7 people and got the table that was for us i think they knew the person that welcomes you in we ask to talk to the manager came she offer us a table at the bar but we had 3 kids and 2 teenagers so that was out question so we left and went Apple bee at El Centro wonderful service great customer service in a scale 1 to 100 its a 150 percent even the manager was great I would never go back to Calexico and i don't recommend anybody to go read more

Applebee's in Calexico did not meet my expectations--even for a chain restaurant. Service was good and friendly. Food was disappointing. I don't think the chef has heard of "al dente" pasta--it was mush. The tomato soup tasted sour. I was disappointed. read more

I had to write a review because my service experience at this Applebee's was quite different from the other reviews. Let me start by saying I am not a fan of this chain, at all. Yet I often find them the only restaurant within walking distance of hotels that I stay at in small towns. So I reluctantly went there last week, only because it was convenient. I was greeted within a couple of minutes of walking in, and asked if I wanted a booth or a table. I was by myself and opted for a booth. The place was about 50% full. My waitress was at the table immediately, offered me menus and suggest their top drawer margarita. Imagine my surprise when she brought a shaker and a martini glass - - and an olive. Yes, for reasons that I do not get, they serve a fairly expensive margarita with an olive in it. So I fished that little sucker out immediately and winced through the first part of the drink until the olive taste washed away. Please guys - olives do not belong in margaritas. Ever. I ordered a steak dish that include two 4 oz sirloins with a mushroom, onion, red pepper and bourbon glaze. The plate came sizzling hot, but sadly, was way over cooked. I order medium and the steaks were well done. About 30% of the meat was inedible as it was just too tough to chew and seriously overcooked. The bourbon glaze and vegis were good, but there should have been more on the plate. Not sure what the deal was with the mashed potatoes - they kind of rubberized on the plate and had to be pried off. The service was excellent - the waitress was by many times and very attentive. The food however, was typical for Applebee's and disappointing. A bit more attention would make a difference, as the concept of the dinner was good, but poorly executed. The margarita was good, but again, olives and other vegetable should not be floating around in tequila. It did not seem fair to give a lower rating, because I knew it was Applebee's when I walked in the door. read more

Every time I go to Applebee's in Calexico I have a good experience I get seated promptly weather I'm with my family or just my wife I noticed some other yelpers have had bad experiences but mine have been great keep up the good work. read more

I was staying next door while on business and went in to this Applebees for dinner. I ordered a martini up, then after it didn't come, I ordered my dinner. I could see the martini sitting on the bar for quite a long time, at least 15 minutes. When the waitress went to pick up the drink I was well into my entrée. I could see the bartender using a straw to remove several things from the drink, fruit flies maybe? The waitress reached for the drink and the bartender stopped her so that he could retrieve a few more things from the drink. When the waitress arrived at the table I asked her what they were doing with my cocktail and she replied that "he was putting ice in it". This was a bold, in your face lie, as drinks ordered "up" do not contain ice. Additionally, you do not add ice using a straw. The digging around in my drink and the lie in my face were ugly, disrespectful, and totally unprofessional. If there was that much crap to remove from the martini it should have been discarded and a new one made. This waitress and the bartender are clearly in the wrong line of work and have no business attempting to engage in customer service. What a dismal experience. read more

I think this Applebee's has improved since some of the previous negative reviews. I went and it was clean, the service was great...but the TV didn't have cable or satellite, so it only picked up Mexican over the air stations. Also, they had the AC essentially off around noon in early June..and we had to ask for it to be turned on. Odd, but they complied after we asked. For Calexico, you could do worse. This place isn't bad if you don't feel like driving to El Centro or Mexicali. read more

order a whisky burger with extra sauces on the size along with wife tuna roll , to go pick up food arrive home and my whisky burger was missing something it was my extra whisky sauces and also sauces on the burger. verify on my ticket if i did a mistake certainly it say 1 whisky burger 1 add whisky sauces . call restaurant back first they answer me after explaining the situation is you have to bring it back so we can prove it took it back .took it back showing my prove they wanted. manager offer me another burger but i had to wait instead of having my order ready before i arrive with their mistake they where making me wait i had to prove that they were wrong and wait to fix there mistake read more
