If 'ehh' was a restaurant, Applebee's in Crosby would be that place. A couple that was seated just before us got up and left after about 10 minutes for lack of service. Later, a lady leaving the restaurant told her husband "that's the worst meal I've had in a long time". I went here to try the all you can eat wings, ribs, shrimp, and fries. The wings and shrimp are definitely frozen. However, they taste decent. Especially considering it was all you could eat for $15.99. The ribs were not good at all. The fries were surprisingly good. I will say everything was fresh and cooked to order. Applebees has never been my favorite. I feel as if most of the menu items are overpriced and mediocre at best. They often have decent deals that bring people in. The 3 star review is nothing against this particular restraunt. It's more for the company in general. The food just seems frozen, basic, and not the best. Used to frequent this location about once a month when we didn't feel like cooking. The bar area usually had the game on, we could get a drink and a meal pretty quickly and the quality wasn't bad. Also, the bartenders were always charismatic and would strike up fun conversations. It's been a while since Ive been back, but tonight the experience was sad. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Starting with the "feel" when we walked in it was "humid" feeling, maybe the a/c?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service wasn't bad, but the usually charismatic bartender was replaced with a timid girl who was maybe just not feeling it tonight. We started with spinach artichoke dip and the chips that came with it were obviously the "crumbs" of the bag and SO salty!!! A group came in wanting steak and she said "I just sold my last 8oz to them" and thumbed her hand in our direction. BTW That steak, was ordered to medium rare, it was very, very rare. (No, we didn't tell them about it, because my husband will never send anything back to a kitchen to be "fixed") I ordered a side salad and a tortilla soup. The salad consisted of croutons, iceberg lettuce and a small spoonful of most finely diced tomatoes you ever seen, and that's about it. The tortilla soup had a sour taste to it that I didn't like either. No one goes to Applebees expecting an extravagant dining experience, but they do expect good "generic style" food that can accommodate everyone's cravings. We should have left when we saw that there were only a couple people sitting at the bar and noticed that the air conditioning was not operational. Still we decided to give it a try since we wanted someplace close with a variety. The food left so much to be desired. A few of us ordered grilled cheese because we felt that would be a safe, basic option. I have never had such a dry, basically cheese less sandwich in my life. I've had better grilled cheese from school cafeterias and the hospital, than at this place. The bread was dry as butter did not appear to have been used, and when I opened it to see if they forgot the cheese I saw they had only used one small slice. Didn't even cover the inside of the bread. Other guest commented that she had more cheese sprinkled on the top of her soup than in her cheese sandwich. Another person ordered chicken tenders and fries which were brought to the table cold. We only learned about his meal later because he didn't wish to complain since he was a guest. So frickin disappointed in this place I ordered the mozzarella ravioli dish with grilled chicken breast. My plate came out hot but my raviolis were cold and my chicken breast is undercooked you can still see the pink through it. Asked for another fork so I could at least eat my salad and the fork had dried cheese still on it. The staff were super nice and so was the manager. The pla e was clean and tables were cleaned off soon after people left. Ended up going with the Quesadilla Burger, should have did this to start with like the hostess recommended. read more

I believe the success of a restaurant is based on the quality of the food, price value and the service provided. This Applebee's failed miserably on the service part. My wife and I came and waited a good five minutes without a single person coming to help us. In fact no employee was visible. Finally the hostess showed up and without apology just asked us if we wanted a booth or table. Once we sat down we waited and we waited. Oddly, we heard the voice of a waitress at the table immediately behind us telling a joke. Much to our disappointment that happened to be our waiter who eventually wrapped up her performance and waited on us. If you consider average food at average prices not acceptable then find someone else. The $2 drinks are no reason to stop either. read more

I was looking up restaurants, trying to figure out what we should get for dinner. I noticed this location had a low review, so thought I would share my experience. Through pandemic 2020 and the first half of this year, I picked up from this restaurant many times, more than any other restaurant. Curbside is easy, friendly and fast and the food is consistent and good. We ate inside a few times, it was the same experience dine in. We have ordered everything but the burgers and all was super good. They were short staffed one night like every restaurant right now and still had amazing customer service, so it was worth the wait. I'm hating myself for giving Applebee's 3 stars. Its a chain notoriously known for their awful menu items and their attempt for originality. Its sad. This particular Applebees is packed full of ex-Crosby HS graduates as their staff and this usually shows. My friend Keith and I decide to head up there after our fire meeting this past Tuesday night only due to the fact that it is the only place open in Crosby past 9. We walk in and sit at the bar (don't worry I was off duty) and order a beer and queso (Dinner of champions). After much deliberating and second guessing myself we both decide on the Top Sirloin Medium Rare, with Parmesean Cheese and Shrimp Topping. Sides of Veggies and a Baked Potato to accompany. Now I have had their steaks before and take this piece of advice to the bank. DO NOT ORDER THE RIBEYE or NY STRIP! They do not know how to cook it correctly and their selection is not exactly up to par. I knew I was taking a risk when I ordered the lean cow, but for some reason The Applebee God told me to do it. So about 8 minutes into my queso and my 2nd large order of Miller Lite (not light as per the "Commish") we get our orders out. I take one slice into the beef and Im like great...those bastards overcooked my steak. I then heard Keith say those bastards undercooked my steak. Luckily for Applebees we just switched steaks so I didnt have to unleash all HELL on the cook (whom I graduated with in HS). My God, the steak was perfect! Its weird to say that about food from the Bee but hey, I was honestly suprised. The steak was gone in about 3 minutes and immediately I hated myself for not slowly enjoying it like I should have. Honestly, when will I get another steak like that from the Bee? When's the next comet coming? We might have better luck with the economy getting back to normal before I get another 8 oz. of cooked cow that good. As we left me and Keith looked at the Crosby Fire Dept. Memorabilia near the front door. They have a CVFD bunked coat with all the firemen's signatures on it. I visited this location on September 7th around 930 pm and our server Alexis was absolutely fantastic from the time we walked in all the way until the end. She was prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. Best service I have ever received out of all the Houston area locations in fact the best service I have received at any restaurant. I will gladly drive the extra time to go this location. I have found my Applebee's location from now on due to the service! It was my first time at any Applebee's and I went with low expectations due to the reviews. But as soon as my family and I went in the host was very welcoming. Our server Kia told us she would be right with us instead of ignoring us even though she was busy, which I appreciate since I'm a server my self. She kept our drinks refilled and gave us her opinion on the questions we had. Our service was horrible. I try, so hard, not to judge when I got out to eat because I worked in the restaurant business for 6 years. When a restaurant is slow, there is no reason for bad service. A 2 top shouldn't be in for over an hour, unless by choice. Our appetizer came before our drinks. Our server was apparently too busy to check on us, ever, and when she did, she didn't stop. She just kept walking as she asked, "is everything ok?" That doesn't give us time to respond. The manager, apparently, has the same work ethic. My glass was empty. He walked by, "do you need anything?" He continued walking. I had to stop him and ask, "could I get some more tea, please?" In this situation, you'd think he would have noticed my husband's almost empty glass, too. Nope. After it took him a minute to find the pitcher of tea, he came back, filled my glass, then asked my husband if he'd like more water. Since I have a keen eye, I was able to tell when our food was coming out of the kitchen. I saw a server (not ours) hold our food and speak to another server for a good 2 minutes at a POS station, walk back into the kitchen, and then walk out a minute later and finally deliver the food. Cold food. Not warm. Cold. Cold fries. Cold chicken strips. Cold steak. After 45 minutes, we finally received the check (no dessert offer? Tsk tsk) from the manager. Again, no server. She did come by 10 minutes later to run the credit card. Reluctantly, my husband left her a tip. At least she got the order right, right? Needless to say, we won't be going back there. read more

This place is good in the bar area to have drinks and hang out after hours with friends and coworkers in Crosby. They allow smoking though, so if you can't stand that you'll hate it. The Long Island pitchers are a great deal for strong drinks! We also order boneless wings and they're always actually really good. It's a basic Applebee's, so you really can't expect much. I wouldn't come here for just a dinner in the dining room, because in general the food has never been worth it. It's like a chilis but the food is always disappointing ya know? The staff is friendly but no ones seems too concerned with being particularly great at their job. When it's time for a steak and you don't feel like driving far, Applebee's is the place to go. The service has been painfully slow at times, and the portions can be quite small depending on what you order, but the food doesn't taste half-bad. Was terrible, last time I went there was a few years ago, I thought I would give them a second chance, well no strike three for me. Last time I will ever go back there. $24.00 for two tiny paper cups of soup and one order of bread sticks, plus I gave a tip. Not feeling up to par, I order two orders of soups for myself and co worker, tomato basil and chicken tortilla, and an order of bread sticks. I had to go back inside because the bread sticks were not in my to go bag, and the tortilla soup was not even half full. They told me that is all that comes in the order (WOW, Iguana Joe's soup is a huge bowl, same price). The soups were not homemade, cold, and the chicken soup was full of fat. I have only eaten at Applebee's a few times because I'm on Dialysis and restricted from lots of foods and I am allergic to mushrooms and I've been able to eat a few of their meals without it swelling me! I called today and I asked for the meal again today and I was told that the mushrooms are mixed in with the veggies and if I have had it twice then that meant that they had removed the mushrooms themselves. If I could give less than one star I would. The smell of cigarettes/ashtrays is so overwhelming that it was impossible to eat here.

My favorite pecan crusted chicken salad is no longer on the menu so I opted for the asian chicken salad instead. Idk what I expected but I was disappointed. The iceberg lettuce tasted fresh out of a bag and was a bit wilted. There wasn't much to this salad however, the grilled chicken was nicely seasoned and the caesar dressing never disappoints. P.S.
