The food and mixed drinks were great pricey on some but it is what it is. The food only complaint was Cole slaw is very dry no flavor what so ever but maybe they can improve it. Absolutely unacceptable. This Applebee's managed to fail at the most basic level of being a restaurant. We ordered a steak and a chicken entree and were not given knives (they were lost according to the waitress and other waiter) how does that even happen? The service was beyond terrible; my friends drink was completely forgotten and no one seemed to care. The food was bland & poorly prepared. We originally wanted burgers, but apparently they couldn't serve them because the patties were still frozen( however I saw burgers being served ???) That alone says everything about how this place is being run. Disorganized, careless, and embarrassing. Easily one of the worst dining experiences I've had. Do yourself a favor and eat literally anywhere else. Once I said we weren't paying for a meal that was impossible to cut into with plastic knives the manager tried to offer a resolution and that was the only saving grace bc she was understanding and courteous and tried to make things right and was very apologetic. I do feel awful that they were short a cook and she had to get back there herself but nonetheless it made for a terrible experience. Wanted a place for Valentines Day dinner, and Texas Roadhouse had a 1.5 hr wait time when we called. Not surprising for cattle country, and figuredthe rest in town would be the same. They have terrible reviews here at the time of posting, but Google had double the reviews. They which were overwhelmingly positive, so we gave it a shot. BTW, there are a ton of restaurants in the area, including steakhouses. We just limited ourselves due to hubby's thing of only going somewhere familiar for events. That way we're not disappointed by the results. Definitely recommend trying stuff all over just on principle. Applebee's had open tables when we called, and didn't have to wait long to be seated. Felt weird having a table of 6 for the 2 of us, but that's just how limited they were. Definitely crowded, but that's what happens when you shove a franchise restaurant into a mall. Our server was very welcoming with great customer service. She was obviously stupid busy, but still made time to ensure that we had everything. Came back several times to let us know that we were still on the radar. Kitchen and bar were stupid slow, but that's to be expected on holidays. The mango promotional cocktail was delicious, though I underestimated the mango. It was thick and strong tasting, so it seems like they used nectar instead of juice. The appetizers combo was the first to come out. The spinach dip was relatively cold, but the fried foods were good to go. I was impressed by their timing because I ate the quesadillas last, but they were still fairly warm. The Bourbon Street steak was cooked exactly as ordered, and was sizzling when it came out. Didn't taste like it or the potatoes had been seasoned at all. There was an occasionally weird texture on my teeth, especially at the start. Hubby tried it, but didn't notice anything. Opted not to send it back considering the wait times. Ate too much, so I'm looking forward to hubby's suggestion of cutting it up and cooking it with scrambled eggs. read more

Pros: my wife's fiesta lime chicken and rice was good and the waitress did a great job! Cons: I ordered a hamburger with cheddar, bacon and cooked medium pink in the center. What I received was a well done burger with American "cheese", no bacon, and an amazing amount of salt. If I was to rate just on my meal it would have been 1 star. As for the food, glad to see they finally offer a vegan burger option - the Impossible Burger. As for ambiance, there was no music playing at all for the firat 20 minutes we were there. Being from out of town leaves me little choice but to visit the local franchises. Applebees in Del Rio has some great staff but the food is below acceptable. It was a pleasant surprise when we decided to come in here. Burger special was $5.99 and came with fries so why not? It was cooked perfectly. Went there for a late lunch, the bar and restaurant probably had about six patrons scattered throughout. The place was mostly dead. One bartender and one server on duty. And one manager hovering mostly in the back. Tables were dirty and not leveled property. Menus were sticky, beer on draft was flat, food was terribly absurd, other tables remained untouched with dirty glassware and silverware throughout the duration of my visit, let's not forget the crawling cockroaches by the bar, yikes! The crew seemed rather reserved, introverted and unconcerned about the state of the service and sanitation of the environment. Maybe just another day at Del Rio Applebee's. Overall it's a damn shame, because I've visited other Applebees throughout the nation. Usually one or two small mishaps might occur but in Del Río this establishment is just substandard on so many levels. Crappy service, unmotivated manager, lackluster dishes and appetizers(stay away from the Artichoke Spinach Dip.) I guess everything culminated with the cockroaches who finally made their appearance at the end of my meal. This is my first time at this location and it was the most disgusting restaurant I've ever been in. The carpeted floor was sticky and 'squished' when you walked on it and none of the staff seemed to be bothered by it. My husband and I ordered a dirty martini and a beer from the bar, and although we weren't expecting much, the bartender did not know how to make a martini and I think the beer was too warm, but I had no way to test that; it could've just been me. Our server I do have to give credit to, she tried to be attentive and was nice to interact with. The food wasn't horrible, I just wish they wouldn't have put so many pieces of browned lettuce at the bottom of my salad. The kitchen obviously doesn't pay attention or they don't care. I wish I could say nice things because in general I like Applebee's, but I will not go to this location ever again and I would advise people to avoid it. This is one of the dirtiest restaurants I've ever stepped foot in. We were greeted with an overflowing trash bin at the entrance with the hostess sitting right next to it texting on his phone. The hostess never greeted us just stared at us until I said table for two. We were sat at a booth by the window that looked as if it had never been cleaned. The window shade, window, walls, light fixture were gross. We weren't given silverware until after our food came out it, it also looked dirty still. Couldn't finish our meals the more we looked around at this place the more grossed out we got. They keep the lights very low so its harder to spot out the awful condition this place is in. The manager of this Applebee's should be fired for running such a filthy place. Do yourself a favor and stay away P.S the trash next to the hostess area never got touched for the entire 30 minutes we were in the restaurant, even seen the manager walk right past it! read more

Pros: we were seated promptly. Cons: everything else, i cant believe who ever the manager is still has a job. They are in need of training or some direction. The place was empty, they had a lot of workers just standing around not doing anything. All the workers would just walk around and provide no service to anyone. After 50 minutes and only getting a glass of water we had no choice hunger took over and were forced to leave in search of better service. When eating out with teenagers, and less adventurous company, I find myself in either, a tried-and-true chain establishment, or in the comforts of the home kitchen, cooking up old family favorites. The Applebee's experience turned out to satisfy everyone in our group, so no complaints there. Well, the noise level of the music could've dropped a few notches, being this was dinner, not a stake out for a dance partner. My son enjoyed his full rack of baby back ribs, an all American carnivore right there. My daughters Reuben sandwich was just how she wanted without the sauerkraut. My fathers fish n chips were just enough to fill him up, and my Cajun Steak and Shrimp sizzler was cooked perfectly. Would have given 3 stars if they hadn't BLASTED the stupid football game volume way high on Monday night around 8pm...it was so nice and quiet when we got there a little earlier. The manager even apologized to us, yet only turned it down a couple notches, still blasting and echoing through the whole restaurant, and we were sitting in the furthest corner booth from any speakers. She tried to blame it on the "rear projecting speakers" in their new TV's...just turn down the VOLUME. The bar folks can hear it fine, even at lower volumes. MOST people come to EAT FOOD, not listen to TV's and their blaring commercials. If it was ONLY a Bar, it may be more appropriate for loud TV volume, but this is supposed to be a family restaurant with a bar. Food was ok, portions were medium size which filled us thin folks. Shrimps were very small and soft texture, not much taste. Asian Chicken was decent, a little dry but typical for healthy grilled chicken dishes. Chili's was a better food quality and noise level experience. Given the few choices in Del Rio, we might give it another chance, especially for my free birthday meal=) Hope someone tells management to turn down the volume for GOOD. read more

Well, we ate here today and it was the worst Applebys we have been to. It is dirty, not just todays dirt. The corners in the window ledges had built up dirt on them. They were not busy and we still waited to be seated. The only food that was good was one person's won ton tacos. The two burgers that were ordered were very dry. We arrived at Applebee's on a Saturday evening around 5:35pm and were seated quickly however we sat for another 20 mins without any wait staff acknowledging us even though they walked by at least 3 times. We were never even served water. We decided to leave and walked across the parking lot to Chik-Fil-A, who took our orders with a smile, we sat down and in 5 min we had all the food we ordered. Have eaten at several Applebee's but this one takes the prize for being the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. First off, we arrived and stood at the front for about 10 minutes to be seated and finally we grabbed a booth up front. Our waiter Ector G was outside visiting with his family or whatever while we just waited for him to finish his goofing off. He finally realized he had a table to attend to and he came back inside to take our order for drinks and later the food. Iced tea had about 5 small ice cubes which melted quickly and our iced tea was still warm. This made me realize that the remainder of the order would be no better and was I ever correct. I ordered the Bourbon Steak medium rare and my wife chicken strips. The steak reeked of garlic and was well done, with little to NO juice. When I asked for pepper and salt was told that they were out of pepper. Let's see, there is a Walmart Superstore about 1/4 mile away and yet they are out of pepper. The chicken strips were tasteless and the Tyson frozen ones were 10 times better to do at home. Everything in this eatery is filthy. They keep their lights low so you don't notice. Windows are filthy, baseboards filthy, tile floor filthy, walls and ceilings filthy, all silverware and glasses were spotted. Heaven forbid what the bathrooms looked like. I would kill a skunk and barbeque it on my grill before I ever set foot in this place of filth. Their management should be fired along with Ector G, but I guess good help in Del Rio is impossible to find. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere to eat except Applebee's in Del Rio. I worked here at this location for about a month. The food is decent not great. Not much to choose from for dessert. Sometimes they are short staffed and get slammed so it can be a long wait. Understand that the cooks are to blame for that not the wait staff. As a restaurant its 2 stars at best, but as a bar its 4 stars. Once the sun goes down the girls tending the bar turn that place around. Sometimes they have a dj and sometimes they blast the sound system with music. The bartenders are the best at what they do. They're on their game and friendly. They get the drinks out and they arent overflowing with the pure taste of rubbing alcohol like other places. These bartenders lnow what they're doing. read more
