The Applebee's in Grovetown has been operating for over five years. The service originally was pretty terrible but has increased within the past couple months to an acceptable level. They do accept Apple Pay at the kiosks on each table, but it can be hit or miss if your kiosk will work. Definitely try to stay away from the Applebee's on weekend nights though as service can decrease significantly. read more

As i read the reviews for my favorite Grovetown restaurant I am forced to see if i am missing something, nope this Applebee's is still excellent. On my last visit my steak was cooked perfectly. My food arrived so quickly I thought the server had made a mistake and was attempting to give me someone else's meal. I was wrong and my food was great. Ok first off I want to say the staff is well trained and gets 5 stars which is why this place gets more than 1 star. That aside the food is way overpriced considering the poor quality. For example there is the chicken parmesan and its sauce which tastes bland like it came out of a can and then there is their breaded cod which tastes like low quality value frozen fish planks. What is sad though is its clearly not just this Applebee's as I have had the experience at 2 others I tried just to be sure so I suspect its company wide which means its the fault of those way up at the corporate level. Will probably not return. Seating was fast. We asked if there were any drink specials available and were told no. We later showed the waitress the ad we saw, which reflected drink specials and the waitress, who also bar tends, acknowledged then asked if we wanted drinks (after we had ordered and received other drinks). The appetizers and meal came out at the same time (that's always a plus, right!?). As we started to eat, we realized we had not been given any silverware. Just for fun, we timed how long it took us to get the Waitress attention and the silverware. After 4 and a half minutes, we grabbed our own silverware from a couple of tables up. A definite highlight, same waitress served the table behind us. The customers apparently received the same level of service and rewarded it appropriately. This section of tables was aware of this as yhe waitress sounded off with "cheapskate" as she cleaned the table out. I suspect I will be labeled the same as I firmly believe gratuities reflect service.... Food was good. The service from the greeters/host staff was phenomenal. Given that today was a high traffic day for our local Applebee's they were kind and energetic. My server Shae, was incredibly attentive and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu as well as the seasonal drinks (Reindeer Punch was delicious). My food however was subpar and although grateful for the free meal, my steak was poorly made. I asked for a medium steak and it came back Rare. I sent it back and it returned burned. This is a great place to take the family when you want the fun service from the meth head employees, fresh turd smells coming from the men's bathroom, and amazing alcoholic beverages without the alcohol actually in it. I would like to make it knows that my visit to Applebee's was an exceptional one. I hope I got the servers name (Tamika) right as she was an excellent representative of your organization. Far too often we fall short or take for granted the interaction with the customers however this was not the case. I was immediately greeted shortly after arriving at my "car-side-to-go" spot. She took her time to first identify who I was and secondly inform me that my order would be up shortly. When she returned with my food she once again engaged in some small talk about professionalism and business goals to which her and I seemed to be like minded. Some of the worst service I've ever encountered at a restaurant. I came in to get a to go order. I sat at the bar for 15 minutes waiting to get my order taken is no one came. The table behind me had their waiter throwing a fit. EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE I SAW had a "F*** this job face" EVEN THE MANAGER! The table behind me got fed up with whatever they were going through and called another waiter over to figure out what was going on. It's an Applebee's, so expect what you'd expect at any other Applebee's. The service was just ok. At one point I had to flag down my server to get a refill on my drink. Nothing really stands out. My steak was ordered medium rare, and it came out medium-to-medium-well as usual. For some reason, no chain restaurant can cook a steam medium rare. Even when their menu has very distinct descriptions for what medium rare is supposed to look like, the over cook it every time. I will say, they LOVE their air conditioning. That thing was on full blast and we literally stopped when we walked in the door from the arctic blast. We debated actually turning around and leaving it was so freakin cold. But, since we were there (and it was our first time at the "new" Applebee's) we went ahead and were seated. The entire time we were literally shivering. I looked around to see if we were under an AC vent, or had accidentally been seated in the freezer, but other than icicles hanging off the end of our table, nothing stood out to explain the arctic temperature. If you're looking for an Applebee's, this is one. Personally, I wish we had driven the extra 100 feet and gotten sandwiches at Jersey Mike's. This is a standard Applebee's. The decor is clean and staff was average. Nothing makes this one stand out over the other ones. It's convenient for us and it's my son's favorite chain. I give the chain huge thumbs up for trying to actually upgrade their menu. Everything I've tried off the new menu, such as the salsa verde nachos, maple bacon chicken piadini, clubhouse grill, sriracha shrimp, are all good...but nowhere near good for you. I think their under 600 cal menu is seriously lacking in flavor and quality. I'd like to see something healthy, in a decent portion size, that isn't a salad. read more

Decided to drop in for an appetizer and night cap. To my surprise it was karaoke night hosted by Mr. Koach The music, singers and atmosphere was hypnotic. Yesterday some friends and I went to Applebee's for dinner. Let's just say the dinning experience did not justify its cost. Walking through door we were greeted (well... actual we weren't even acknowledged at first) by lackluster hosts struggling to seat a few people in a half empty restaurant. Our waitress was thankfully an improvement but the kitchen staff weren't helping her out as the appetizers arrived with the main meals and the simple request for sauce on the side was not met (but she caught the mistake and sent the plate back). The overall atmosphere of the staff was rather unkept and needing some adult supervision. With other similar reviews of this place, I hope the levels will take notice to provide some emergency training. I don't want people to lose their jobs, but I be embarrassed to bring others there again. read more

The bartenders at this location are amazing. I am impressed with how friendly the hostess staff are every time I visit. My only issue is that the decor promotes a local vibe, but the only beer that is served on tap from Georgia (Hopsecutioner) has been replaced by another commercial brand (Stella). Hmm.. Well. Its a chain. I shouldn't have expected much. I live out of state and never visit these sort of places but my family wanted to. First off, I have a dairy allergy and I no longer eat meat. So this was a challenge here. The only thing I could eat was a salad. Oh yay! I could've stayed home for that. I asked for the Oriental salad with out shrimp. Nowhere on the menu did it say it had cheese in it. Well it did. But it was like thrown in, so not a lot. But I still has to pick it out. Or I would have been very sick. Then our little waitress girl was nice, but kept forgetting everything. That's ok, she's probably new. But the people behind us got her extra care. That's fine. Places like this need to understand not everyone can eat dairy or likes to eat meat. Not one vegetarian or vegan option available. Never again will I visit this chain. I usually don't complain about service as I work in a customer service field too. However, the service that was given/received this evening was shocking. I placed an order for my husband via the Applebee's App for a pick up time of 6:30pm as indicated by the App (which gave 30 minutes to make the meal). I placed the order for my husband since I was working late and wanted him to have a hot meal to take with him to work as our schedules overlapped this evening. He arrived a few minutes before 6:30 and wasn't given his food until 7:00! He didn't just want to leave since I had paid for the food via the App. When given his food it arrived wrapped in plastic wrap because apparently the restaurant ran out of To Go container lids. His food was also missing all the toppings that I requested (butter, sour cream, onions...for the steak and baked potato) as the restaurant ran out of those too. But of course there wasn't any indication of this when the order was place (your name and # shows up when and order is placed). When I called to speak to someone about it I was given an apology and offered a free dessert or appetizer and told that they weren't sure what else could be done. It would have been nice to be offered a complete meal replacement or better yet a refund. Don't know if I will come back to this location. read more

Service was extremely poor. Food wasn't bad, not perfect. The wait staff seemed very confused. The manager was unkept in his dress appearance. He never came thru the restaurant to see how things were going. I never saw him once. It took 10 minutes before a waiter showed up then it took 45 minutes from the time we sat to when received our food. The manager did compensate our check for the bad service. Ticket times were great, the quality of the food was perfect and the manager, Rene came out and touched tables to make sure everything was right.
