This is a good pub or sports bar experience. Plenty of space indoors or on their patio for an intimate dinner or large enough for a group of 12 at the high top. We had burgers fries and onion rings. Today's visit was entertaining. We got the cold beer cheese again and got that rectified. The pretzel we ordered came out as the chips, but when we got the pretzel it was amazing again. Water was dripping from somewhere above, but that wasn't so bad...hubby just moved out of the way and we let them know. I ordered a club and got a BLT. With all of that, Gabe's attitude was exceptional! He was so sweet about everything and fixed it all as quickly as he could. Attitude is everything! It can set fires or put them out. Grumpy's has a charm to it you don't see in every sports bar. You walk in the door, seat yourself, and immediately have a clear view of as many TVs as you could ever need (all showing some variety of sports that are currently on). There are many many beers on tap but the sandwiches are where this place shines. I got the smoked n' pulled chicken sandwich done "Cronovan" style. Cronovan puts the delicious chicken on a sourdough bread with smoked Gouda and cheddar melted throughout. I scarfed this sandwich down so quickly, I think I inhaled a couple curly fries on the way. Service was good, just know that they take their time making your food (but that's part of how you know it's good). If you're here on a busy day you might wait a little longer but I promise it'll be worth it! read more

Customer service has never been the best at the location however occasionally you may get a server who acts like they care. Smoked chicken nachos are good, wings are probably the best in town when prepared right (Thai Thai and Carolina Gold are my faves), buffalo cauliflower is good, home/steak fries are good, drinks are good just aren't strong. Fried oysters are very small in size. I suggest the Mimosa bucket and or the dragon tail bucket. Cozy little corner seat in back, outside seating, high top table seating and booth seating along with bar seating. We came to watch US world cup game. They didnt show the game on many of the TVs, which instead showed golf highlights, softball and sports talk, which no one was watching. Our waitress rebutted our request to switch to all soccer. The sound system was terrible so couldn't hear the game. Most of the patrons were only peripherally watching. So not a great atmosphere. Disappointed with the lack of service. I was anticipating a bit of a wait with the food, because there's a sign outside the front door mentioning that food preparation time may take a while. We were never acknowledged after waiting several minutes and as a result ending up leaving. If you're looking for wings and plenty of flavor/sauce options, I highly recommend checking out the wing spot directly next to Publix. Crowded, loud, and exactly what you'd expect from a sports bar. The food was fast fried and delicious. The machine and cheese bites could not have been better. The Ruben was a bit of a letdown but to be honest that's probably me being picky about my rubens. The 4 starts comes from the lack of staffing. The are did not seem to be enough staff to serve all the people that they pack in. My service was ok (my drink never emptied and my food came out hot.) But the table next to me and the people at the other end of the hightop I was at, were separately complaining about their food not coming out (they ordered before me and got their food [also fried foods] after I got mine). Loud music and crowds don't lend themselves to intimate conversations, but if you go to Grumpy's for that, I can't help you. read more

I guess it had to happen. Our first bad experience at Grumpy's. It's been slow before and we've had so-so servers before, but this time it was so slow, the server was slower and she was rude. She was a smart-alec. We'd ask for another beer and wait 10-15 minutes for it. We'd catch her eye but she'd act like she didn't see us. She told us and a nearby table, "good food takes time! It's on the sign!" We ended up sharing a fork because we couldn't get her to bring us another one. It's too bad how one bad piece of the delivery system can mess up the rest. The server spent most of her time, leaning on a table, talking with a couple of friends of hers and buying them drinks. I could hardly get her attention. I got a beer, no offer of water or anything else. She came back 10 minutes later and took my order for nachos. When she brought them, no fork. Took me 15 minutes to get one. She was unpleasant, curt, even though I try to be as pleasant as possible. I noticed the same thing, maybe not quite so bad, but similar, with other servers, hanging out with what are clearly local friends of theirs. This must be a local bar, but I would never go there again as a stranger. By the way, the nachos, which they bragged about having red, green and yellow jalapeños on, we're about 80% jalapeños. They would've been good with about 20% jalapeños. But they were overwhelming. Jalapeños are for taste and flavor, not too overwhelmed. Cannot recommend this place at all. read more

This is my go to spot when I am in Aiken. It does get busy during happy hour so get there early or after the rush. Great place if you're looking to catch the game as there are several screams all throughout the place, their drink menu is impressive with many beer on tap selections. As for the food, we expected typical bar food, but we're pleasantly surprised that not only are the selections varied the food is delish. I have had the lamb gyro quesadilla (which is offered in chicken and lamb) several times, and the Reuben sandwich is a restaurant favorite. With marbled pumpernickel, and a healthy serving of corn beef done to perfection. The servers are all friendly, and take care of their customers with Excellent service. Plenty of parking options as it's in a strip mall that is shared with Publix so perfect for a large group, which, with the large tables they could handle no problem! Horrible, ac not working well, beer on tap flat, warm, served in unrefrigerated glass. nachos and salsa were not fresh they were prepackaged crap; brisket nachos should have been good, but again disappointing; bbq sandwich was tried but unfinished; the others ate some of theirs but noone enjoyed or will return. Almost forgot, waitresses were lax, one plate served with silverware the rest of us had to ask for some, and water which was served 29 minutes after requesting. Pork Rinds Grumpy had fresh sizzling pork rinds.....man I was drooling Seasoned in Tony Chacheres perfection! Next J got the wings.... I know!! Garlic parm and bbq hot were the right amount of heat to flavor ratio....these wings were the biggest we have seen in a while... big ole chickens here in A-town!! Why Yes, I ate off his plate... I got the Lamb Gyro Quesadilla and it was pretty good... my fave is always the tzatziki to dip it it..... Portions enough to have leftovers again always the best deal for me... The bacon on the sandwich was mostly raw and the fries were cold and hard. They say they cook things fresh but maybe they let it sit too long before it comes to table. Waitress was scarce.
