I like this Applebee's a lot because it's close to where I live and is the go-to place for lunch with friends. I've never had a problem with their food, and the staff is always courteous and efficient. What I don't understand is why people are so dismissive of Applebee's. It's a restaurant primarily known for wings and nachos, so don't come in and lament that they're not serving Le Bec-Fin-quality food. It's bar food with a few sophisticated entrees thrown in for variety, and that's it. My only complaint is that there are no vegetarian items on their menu. Otherwise, this is a reliable eatery with decent food that is nice enough to take friends to on lunch dates. read more

Went to this Applebees with a party of six. We were seated right away since it was not busy. We ordered and it seemed all was good. When the waitress brought out our food she delivered four entrees of the six. She apologized and said they had forgotten one of the meals and she wasn't sure what had happened to the other one, the chicken. We said fine and waited, and waited, and waited - a total of about 15 minutes. We had not complained and we were very patient. The manger delivered the two late entrees and I thought that she was doing so to take an opportunity to say how sorry they were and maybe even offer something to make up for is. Well nope, not at all. Just a delivery and one that seemed to just be there in case we were going to complain a lot. When the manager delivered the chicken she said the plate was red hot. I thought that was a bit funny since they just made it. Well as I ate it I found the bottom of the chicken breast was crisply burnt. I cut around it - no complaints, I just wanted to enjoy what there was with my family and get out of there. In the end, poor food and poor quality service doesn't cut it at all. They may have a brand name but the quality just is not there at the Havertown location. Maybe Robert Irvine could help change it..... read more

During Pandemic we have gone to Applebee's for Curbside Takeout. I have to give credit to this location. Whoever is responsible for having them Up their Game has done a great Job. Take out has been onPoint everytime without Fail. Before pandemic we would go to Applebees a few times a year. Now we find ourselves ordering a Few times each month. Well Done Applebee's. Sat and waited ten minutes to be seated. Multiple empty tables all over the place. Only to be seated at a table that was empty when we walked in the door. Ordered drinks ten minutes was still waiting for a raspberry lemonade and a beer. Gave order and was still waiting on drinks. Good was decent but for being so slow you'd think they would be more attentive to the customers. Multiple times spot employees standing around in groups talking. Meanwhile customers are impatiently looking around for servers. It was bad before but this place is only getting worse. Save your time and go else where. read more

" Half price Apps at 9pm" - My husband and I ordered the classic wings and spinach and artichoke dip with drinks, we did not have to wait long for our foods or drinks to arrive, I was surprised at how good the perfect margarita was, I got this on the rocks with salt, its definitely a buck for your dollar, the only down side was that we had to finish our food faster due to the water supply being shut down in that area. read more

This is by far the worst Applebees I have ever been in. Sunday Oct 30th. 8.00 pm. 2016 First the place has not been cleaned for a very long time, the carpet smells, the walls are dirty. The food, I had the low calorie pepper crusted sirloin and grains. 5 pieces of meat 2 of which were fat and gristle. My girlfriend had a house salad that started life green but had now turned brown. Went here on a Saturday night at 9:30 PM. The hostess did not greet us, she just grabbed menus and when we asked to sit in the bar area she was annoyed. We then sat down and we're not greeted for ten minutes. We moved to the bar and the bartender was extremely grumpy and almost angry that I just ordered a plain drink without alcohol. Food is subpar, soggy and overpriced. The staff are increasingly rude and put a bad taste in your mouth before the food does. The hostesses never smile and the waiters seem angry constantly. The watered down drinks don't even help to alleviate the disappointing service and flavors. I dread coming here when people insist on Applebee's. read more

The food can be expensive, they try to branch out with more exotic or grown up dishes..not just you know burgers and sandwiches but those tend to fall flat. Too salty generally. The burgers and sandwiches tend to be the best things they offer actually, as well as the appetizers. oh and the bar. Their sangria is amazing! The staff is all young, so am I but these guys don't seem to take the job too seriously mainly the night shift. If you're there around 9 you might not see your waitress/waiter very often. The 1/2 off appetizers after 9 is the only reason i go there, that and the 2 for 20 deal. It's a good place for a casual meal where you don't' want to spend a lot of money. read more

i dont hate chain restaurants, just THIS applebees. i have been to multiple other applebees that i have enjoyed (like Seaford DE, Salisbury MD, and the one on City ave., and the one on Henry Ave. both in Philly, one in OC MD, etc,) most Applebee's dont need to be reviewed because they are typical and you should not expect 5 star service at an Applebees. They have good deals, like the two for $20 (one app, 2 entrees from a list and one dessert) and they have late night app specials and drink specials. its hard to complain about really cheap food. but alas, here i am. complaining about cheap food. i have enjoyed experiences at other applebee's and have given this one a try, at least 5 times. one out of 5 times they actually were okay. the other 4, miserable. we had the same server multiple times, who either doesnt bring drinks, or doesnt refill them. in fact once we lucked out and got a different server, then to see the one we disliked was running the food. oh heavens. there were 6 tables in our little area. 5 had people at them. he tried taking our food to all 4 tables EXCEPT OURS then took it back to the kitchen. then about 5 minutes later it finally came back to our table. really??? then we saw him sitting down on his cell phone and watching sports on the TV. not okay. our server insisted that they didnt have Worchestershire sauce. please note, this is a common ingredient that most people have at home, lea and perrins is pretty much the only brand. i have gotten it at applebee's everytime i go. this time, the waiter went back and forth with me about 5 times on the pronunciation telling me they didnt have it. i had to explain that it has multiple pronunciations and i described the bottle. only for him to understand and finally come back that he didnt have it. wow. he also insisted that for cooking a burger, the temperature was pink or no pink. another wow moment. i have a feeling that its because the people in the kitchen can barely cook a steak to a desired temp, no way theyre going to get a burger right. i also once ordered the oreo shooter for dessert. okay so i didnt use the correct name ( they have a chocolate mousse in a shot glass with oreo crumbs and whip cream on the menu). i dont know the actual name. well apparently its not called the oreo shooter. its called the chocolate mousse shooter. its the ONLY THING ON THE MENU WITH OREOS... why would you assume otherwise? so the server brings out some custom made dessert with vanilla ice cream, and oreo cookies and whip cream. this still baffles me why he didnt ask me what i meant if i called the dish by the wrong name. why assume i wanted something and then make it up? it almost makes me laugh. i have always wanted to leave a good tip here but never do. the food isnt terrible (i have had better at every other applebees) but its the service that really gets me. especially as a server myself for years, seeing servers that are rude, unattentive and uncaring is reason enough to not go, even if you do like the food. one star is for the garlic mash potatoes, the chocolate mousse shooter AKA oreo shooter LOL, and the white Queso appetizer (which is like the only thing thats not on their late night special price menu). Because of the mostly good and reasonable priced food, i will go to other applebee's. this location needs to get it together. read more

First I have NEVER seen this place so busy on a Thursday night. But they were having their dollar margaritas and that with the half priced apps I can imagine they were all over it. But our waiter, Jermaine, was delightful. We had my three year old nephew with us and he kept double checking to make sure he was also taken care of. Then some woman at a table catty corner us got upset at him for the stupidest thing and started causing a whole scene but he never let that affect the service we received. Even though they were slammed, and he was working extra table and dealing with unnecessary drama, he checked on us multiple times and had no problem when we needed our check split up, which usually the servers get annoyed about. As a result, he got a great tip and we will definitely be back. read more

After having a not so great experience about a year ago, I'm quite pleased after giving it another try this year! They've made A LOT of great changes. The entire decor, booths and tables have been upgraded to a nicer looking sporty restaurant featuring local sports teams which is really cool. Their menu has removed a great deal, but added some tasty looking new items. Our server, Chloe was great! She made a point to talk directly to my children and helped them to read their menu. We never had to ask for refills or flag her or another server down. She made polite conversation and made us feel very welcomed. The manager (Brooke I believe), stopped by to make sure we had everything we needed as well. I've been to plenty of restaurants where you can't find a manager anywhere or they've been reluctant to show when asked for so this was a great surprise to see a manager walking around checking on her customers! The food was awesome! I ordered one of there new all in burgers, which was cooked perfectly. The fries on the other hand seemed to have sat for too long. My children got chicken tenders and chicken mac n cheese both with their favorite go go squeeze applesauce. For desert we ordered the trio shooters which were the perfect size after a big meal. I have to say, I'm very impressed and will definitely be back soon! read more

I Ordered the Bourbon street steak cooked medium and it came out so well done it was like cutting rubber! I did not even bite into the steak before I called my server back. The server took one look and agreed. The baked potato that I ordered with the steak was not cooked all the way. I waited for what seemed another 20 min while my date ate her entire meal. When the second steak arrived again I was beyond disappointed to receive another well done steak! I'm not sure that this chef can comprehend the difference! I was just too frustrated and by now concerned that if I sent it back something bad would happen intentionally to my food. I ate it. read more

Absolutely the worst. I don't know what is going on at this particular location, but it has gone downhill in the past 6 months or so. An order of ribs was so tough, grey and unappetizing that more than 1/2 of them went into the trash. They used to be fall off of the bone, now they were eat at your own risk. The lemon shrimp pasta dish was very sour tasting and the pasta was mushy to put it mildly. This location used to have good food, something has changed here and not for the better. This is a classic Applebee's, but maybe a little on the lower-end side. My boyfriend and I recently went for a quick dinner, and decided to do the 2 for 20. It's a great value. The seat of the booth had rips in it and it was not affixed to the bottom. Our meal was very good, except for the fact that our entrees came about 15-20 minutes too late. It wasn't crowded, so it's unclear what the hold up was. I understand that this Applebee's is in the process of renovating, so take my review for what it's worth. I will definitely stop in again after the renovations are complete. All in all, this is a solid 3 stars. read more

We haven't eaten at Applebee's in a while because,frankly we were usually disappointed--food greasy, not hot, etc. we had a gift card and decided to give it another try. We were pleasantly surprised. The decor has been updated--changed to a sports theme with photos of local high school and college team members. New table tops, seats and woodwork. New menu with pub diets--enjoyed the steak with spinach, tomatoes and whole grains as well as the shrimp, broccoli and cavatapi pasta. Nice glass of wine--Cabernet Sauvignon and a merlot . Went in for lunch today with my girlfriend. We got handed menus and selected what we wanted. The menus we got were actually menus that have not came out yet. The server got angry at us......We just selected off the menu he gave us.. We Ordered different items out of the old menu. Server came with our food and forgot which items were ours.. Sad. Never came back to check on us. We needed refills. I wouldn't blame him I would blame a lack of management. I guess there is a reason we stopped going there. On the plus side new wallpaper! The worst experience ever. Went for family dinner got seated faster than the fifteen minute wait the hostess said that was a good start. When seated chloe greeted us got our drinks and appetizers. Pretty quickly then no refills even when ordering from machine nothing. Got food my order was wrong and charged for food that i never recieved.
