Stopped by to have some fries on $1 crab fry day! This location has a nice parking lot so it's easy to get to. We were able to find bar seats easily despite it being a busy day. The bartenders were very welcoming and attentive even though it was crowded. The crab fries were great! Our waitress Denice was the worse. i only remember because it was on the bill. she ignored our table while helping other guest or talking to the other wait staff by the bar, she got our drink order wrong and tossed our straws on the table. i had to flag down another staff member to get her attention; instead of her asking what we needed she came and gave us boxes to go. I made reservations for a family dinner on Thursday night. We were greeted promptly and shown to our table. Although the rest of my family had been there before, this was my first time. Our server Matthew was friendly and helpful. They have an extensive bar menu as well as Coke products. We had the Street Corn Crab Nachos, boneless wings, cheesesteak, and the chicken sandwich classic. We split an order of crab fries. The portions are not huge and are appropriate sizes. The food was delicious. There are many TVs playing sports. There's a good vibe. There's also a parking lot because the restaurant is near a shopping center in Drexel Hill. Stopped by because I was in the area and thought it would be a good lunch! Sadly, I think this location is suffering from what all industries are dealing with and that is being 'understaffed'! This shift seemed to be run by all the new summer hires and they were frazzled to say the least! There wasn't any silverware or napkins offered..had to ask for it; our drinks came out separately and the request for additional condiments took at least 10 minutes to receive! Once the food arrived it was Chickie's and Pete's taste profile ..just lukewarm! The server was doing her best and she was tipped over 20%...this is not of her doing...way beyond her control! This is your typical Chickie's & Pete's experience. If you've been to one, you've pretty much been to them all. The crab fries are delicious as usual, and the rest of the food was decent. The patty melt I got was good, and the pizza we got the table to share was also fine. I heard the salads were not too hot though, but since I didn't have one I can't elaborate. Service was fine, and we went during a very dead timeframe (2PM on a Tuesday). My biggest complaint was their tap list. It was pretty uninspired. Other locations I've been to had much more interesting tap lists, but it's okay I guess. Anyway, I won't be rushing back here soon but it's fine. read more

Not a great experience! The food was just OK. The service left a lot to be desired. I had to flag down the waitress for more water. We had to ask for napkins and utensils. It was not busy so I'm not sure why the service was so bad. They were training a new waitress so there were 2 people technically serving us but that didn't help. The soup was not hot and they put oyster crackers in my soup without asking. I did not want them. My husband didn't get any and he would have liked them. Pretty good service, food was okay. We went on Fry-Day where they were doing a fundraiser with $1 Crab Fries. We saw the sign driving past and decided to stop in. The girls outside were nice and welcoming, and when we went inside, we were seated right away. Our food came fast, was hot and good. Nothing too fancy, but good, it tasted as described, although the Buffalo Chicken Nachos had a "movie theater food" taste, but still good. Big enough servings for us to share. Our server was nice, attentive, answered all of our questions and we were pretty much in and out. The place was pretty empty when we went but was picking up as we were leaving. I've been coming here since they opened. The service has always been below average but now it's at an all time low. They're just terrible in there. They could not get anyone's order right in our party, multiple times. Between apps, drinks, they kept coming out with other tables' orders and not ours. We need places like this. It is hard for me to write this as I consider Chickie & Pete's to be a Philadelphia area staple. However, this experience soured me on the chain a bit (or at least this location). Myself and a friend ordered to-go one weekday evening. From picking up the order to having to go back to get missed items and the overall taste of the order I was disappointed from beginning to end. We ordered via phone and that went fine. We received a pick up call which kind of felt like it rushed us to come get the food. After getting home, I realized we were missing part of the order and we had to go back to get it. Then it was like pulling teeth explaining the inconvenience and they provided crab fries as a courtesy for the mistake. Now for the food...we ordered a crabcake sandwich, calamari, buffalo wings, and Ultimate Crab Fries. The crab cake was missing aioli which made it dry and it was already slightly burnt. The calamari was chewy and dark as if it had been cooked early in the day and re-warmed. It was also burnt unfortunately. The Ultimate Crab Fries and wings were tasty. Overall, lackluster experience. For Chickie & Pete's prices, the order and experience should have been far better. I likely won't be going to this location again. read more

I haven't been to a Chickie's in some time so when my buddies asked me to go with them to watch a sixers playoff game I couldn't say no. I then went again to another location and had the crab nachos...dramatic pause...they were so good. Ordered a dozen oysters. Tasted delicious, though small. Asked the waiter for oyster crackers or saltines and was told, "no crackers of any kind" but he offered bread, which I declined. Several oysters were not well shucked and were shredded into several pieces. One on a large shell seemed to have lost a big part of the oyster. None of them had their hinge muscle detached, so I had to scrape that with my fork to get everything I paid for. The sauce was pretty standard; the mignonette was merely red wine vinegar. Meh.... Can't complain about the price in these times - $1 each - but the size? Just wish they had been bigger. They did not have any blue crabs tonight, so I missed another favorite. Well, my love-hate relationship with the Chickie's and Pete's chain continues. To put it best, I agree with all of you. Yes, the food here is as good as any of the other branches of this local chain. Yes, they are a little out of order with serving food in general. Yes, it's remarkably crowded and not terribly comfortable to hang out at all the time. I've had some bad meals at Chickie's in the past. I've also had some good ones. i've had very friendly service. I've also had quite rude service. So why does the Drexel Hill location get 4 stars? Well, this is the place where I finally figured out that the mussels in red sauce are what I should order every time I come here. Put it this way... my wife ordered crab cakes, and got 3 small cakes on her plate with no sides, just some dipping sauce, for $21. They were good, but in my mind not best I ever had for $21. She was still hungry afterward, and between the two of us she tends to eat less. I got the bowl of mussels with the red sauce. I'm usually the one who can really pack it away. And at the end of that bowl, I was full to the gills for $11.95. Oh, that red sauce makes it worthwhile! My tip... if you like mussels, go with them. You'll get your money's worth far more than you will with the crabs. And the bartenders here, great service. They hustle. I loved it. Chickie's and Pete's isn't perfect. In fact they're still overrated to me. But I will say that every now and then, they make me happy. Last night, they succeeded. read more

Ordered a big family meal by delivery. Everything was packaged very well. The Crab Feast was def a great deal - was able to try out a variety of crabs. Baby lobster tails were well done. The crab nachos were fine. Mussel white was decent as always. Crab fries used to be my all favorite but inevitably became mushy when they arrived. So were the nachos. Portions were big. Been coming to this location for years. Recently I feel like I'm paying the prices you would in a fine dining restaurant but the food is only a little bit above McDonald's quality. Also, most of the servers have zero personality excepts two. Julie is amazing! And the guy server I believe his name is Paul or pat. Yesterday I came in to eat at 6pm it wasn't busy and my waitress (never got a name) hid almost the whole time. Finally I get my check and I asked her the next time Paul/pat working and she said he was fired for using heroin on the job. 1.) I run my own company, that information is private if it's even true) 2. She should not be working in customer service if that's how she speaks to customer's she should be the one fired. Came here to pick-up dinner on a Friday night. I called in the order & they told me to pick it up in 15-20 minutes. When I got there the food was ready and I'm glad I did decide on pick-up because the place was very crowded and lively at around 6pm. I got to taste the fried shrimp,crab fries,and the lobster cheesesteak. I don't know why this particular location is struggling because typically I have good experiences at this chain. But my husband and I have ordered from this location twice now and were disappointed both times- particularly this second time. I ordered a salad with salmon and the salad greens had mold spots on them. The salmon was very overcooked and dry. It even had a slight ammonia aftertaste. My meal was not safe to eat. My co-worker said this is a must try for anyone visiting the Philly area, so we stopped in for a later lunch. This is a sports bar with less of the typical casual sports bar feel, and the menu doesn't scream bar food, though you have burgers and such. Everything was really delicious! I had the South Philly cheese with grilled peppers and onions, though they refer to the onions as fried, they are sautéed/grilled, and added a nice touch to my sandwich. The basket of fries which we shared were extremely large, and perfectly complimented the sandwich, so much so that I ate half the fries before tearing into the Philly cheese. My co-workers Caesar salad was so large, she begged me to take some, and she filled my plate. I added the lobster from my sandwich and it was a perfect compliment for more deliciousness. I was previously disappointed by my Philly cheese experience at Pat's and Gino's, and this place may have saved the Philly Hesse reputation in Philly for me. read more

Where to begin? From the time I entered, it was so cold that I was happy that I wore a sweatshirt to make myself somewhat comfortable while I ate. We were a party of four, and we specifically requested a booth which one of the waitresses happily obliged to seat us at, however we were told that we would need to wait, which was fine with us, for them to clean up. After at least a ten minute wait, another party showed up with six people, and since that booth was a"six seater", they seated them in "our" booth and gave us a table instead. Let me emphasize that the restaurant was less than half full and they could have seated us at a table immediately. Now another gripe: the table was sticky with dried grease as if they cleaned it with a dirty washcloth with no detergent. Now to assess their attention to their customers: For our party of four, they gave us two menus. It was only after ten minutes or so that we were even able to ask our server for two more as she brought our drinks. By now you are probably wondering how the food was. We ordered the crab fries with crabmeat. It was OK as a table appetizer, howeve for a signature dish it was nothing to be proud of. I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak with red peppers and their special cheese sauce. The mystery meat looked like chopped minute steak, was sparse for a cheese steak, and I can't exaggerate, if there was cheese in the sauce, you couldn't get a hint of it. In short, I managed to eat half of the moderately sized sandwich, and to give Chickie and Pete's credit when earned, they provided a box to take the leftover home. MY DOG LOVED IT! read more
