The $12 queso corn dip came with about 8 small tortilla chips--barely enough for a third of the dip. We had to ask for more chips twice and were charged an extra $3 for them. Avoid the chickpea salad special. It was essentially a basic garden side salad with 8 chickpeas priced at $16 that was served on a plate. The waffle ice cream sandwich was good, but it took 20 minutes to arrive. This place used to be a favorite, but the gouging makes it feel like profit now comes before the customer. I went here for my friend's surprise birthday. We were a party of 10 and we were quite loud. The staffs were so accommodating and some of them became our accomplice to surprise my friend. I have never been to their old location, but this location is pretty spacious with lots of windows. We mostly ordered appetizers and they were all very good! The fried pickle was my least favourite because it was a bit too salty. I ordered the Old Fashioned and it was very well made, and I fully enjoyed it! Second stop in. We enjoyed the fig and feta pizza, but agreed that we wouldn't get it again as the jam is too sweet. The bbq brisket sandwich was delectable- it really just melted in your mouth and was a perfect mix of sweet and spicy, but the roll it was on was really sub par. This restaurant was recommended by a coworker who lives in Havertown. She spoke highly about the drinks, and she wasn't wrong. The menu had something for everyone in our four person party, drink wise and food wise. Having seen other reviewers style I must say that we seem to have a lot of fine diners that have moved into the area. I like to keep things short and simple. Brick and brew has above average food, a nice environment, and the drinks may have been a little bit too good. The server was charming and participated in some very witty banter. This review is from a few weeks back of I would give you her name so you could ask for her. Pricing worked with the value of the experience but as a warning you may have to go as far as the local municipal lot around the corner to get parking. It is always crowded so call for reservation for Dinner (lunch is less crowded) so you get a table. About 2 blocks of pavement to get there so drop off Grandma and Pa ahead of putting the coach away. read more

This was our first time dining at Brick & Brew. It was a great experience. First, the atmosphere is very cozy. Next, the food was delicious. At our table of four, we had the Bavarian pretzel sticks, cheese pizza, meatloaf, grilled chicken grilled cheese sandwich on sourdough, and smoked pork sandwich. The sandwiches were served with thin, crispy French fries. Everyone was very pleased with their meals. There's a full bar and they also serve Coke products. I have positives about this place. The drinks and food are generally good. The shrimp appetizer is delicious. We also had a burger there on one of our visits and that, too, within fries-- very good. Another time we ordered the turkey club, which I would not recommend. The turkey is dense and processed. Not so good. My complaint here and this happened both times we ate here and sat at the bar-- is that the staff is really so so professionally. They greet you and take your order when you arrive, but then they dont check back or look at you much again. They are focused on their friends at the bar and each other (definitely each other.) Both my husband and I are former bartenders and waiters and we know that when you are ON doing your job, and with your customers, you look around, make yourself available for eye contact in case anyone needs anything. Not here. After the first drink, getting anyone's attention declines until you try to leave and good luck getting anyone's attention to pay. This is odd because they are right there and it's not a huge place. They just stop looking and attending. They need some training. read more

Stopped by recently to check out the bigger place on Eagle Rd on a rainy Saturday evening. High ceilings and much more seating. We tried a couple specials, apps and one of their pizzas. The grilled octopus tostadas were a shy overdone - chimichurri or jam couldn't save it. The Chicago Beef didn't resemble short rib much and had toppings that overpowered the beef. The fries were the best part of the sandwich. The Fig, Walnut and Feta pizza we ordered seemed to be missing Fig, walnuts and Feta?? I guess if it was called Arugula, strawberry and balsamic - it might not sell as much. On the positive, the Oven fired wings were very good. The cauliflower bites were ok. Our server, Kate, was excellent most of the evening. Now that BnB has three locations, I fear they may have lost some of their personal touch. We were there to see Keli Vale and Nick Bucci perform. We were taken to the roof, which was a really lovely area. We didn't know what to expect of the food and decided to try the summer flatbread and hummus platter. The summer flatbread was a wonderful surprise. Something that could be bland was very well done. All the veggies were seasoned and the aoili was really tasty. The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, and Keli and Nick were stellar as usual. It was worth the trip! read more

The atmosphere was really cute and fun. The outside spaces flowed nicely into the inside seating. The pineapple sour mocktail was tasty juice and fun to sip. The fried pickles were very thin, almost like pickle shavings so the pickle flavor didn't really carry through. The fried chicken sandwich had good crunch but was ultimately a little on the bland side. I think if the pickles were thicker, they may have been able to lend more flavor. read more

The food and service once we were seated was really great. The major frustration was the 3 hostesses at the front really mismanaging the seating. 3 four-top tables sat empty for-almost 15 minutes while people are waiting in the lobby area. The hostesses didn't seem to have a good plan for seating. They texted a prior party to let them know the table was ready. Clearly the party had left the restaurant and weren't coming back...but the hostesses gave them 15 mins anyway. Super odd. Took almost two hours to get an app, an entree and a dessert. Water took 30 min to get and we were never asked for a refill. Super cool decor and ambiance. Wow. I hadn't had a whisky sour in over 20 years. But this place will make you a convert! The crab dip, beet salad, burger, short rib grilled cheese are all FABULOUS. Service is cheery and helpful, if sometimes a little bit slow....it can get crowded! Loved the old location on Darby Road, but Increased size and menu changes have not affected this dining establishment! The food and service are still fabulous. read more

Came here for dinner while visiting family in town. The restaurant was busy which is to be expected for dinner time. Appetizers and drinks were fine. However, the entire experience after that was a complete disappointment. As a table of four one of our entrees came out before everyone else. After convincing them to start eating their food, they were finished with their meal before two of the other entrees arrived. They then finished their meals before our final entree came. A salmon sandwich that was completely burnt (and arrived a solid 20-30 minutes after the first one had). We asked our server to speak to the manager and were told they would not come speak to us and just asked how they could fix it. We insisted on speaking to the manager in person. They arrived at our table and said they "wanted to talk to us personally to fix it" (which we knew was a lie at that point since they didn't come the first time we asked for them). From that point on, bad management practices were apparent. He blamed the difference in time due to "different dishes taking longer to cook than others" and said our server should've told us that (have you ever eaten a meal out? That's not how restaurants work). He then questioned our validity if it "really took that long" between dishes arriving or if we were just exaggerating. No ownership was taken for their mistakes as he attempted to shift the blame on anyone but himself as a manager. Left a sour taste in our mouth at a restaurant that our family otherwise typically enjoys. read more

Girls night!! My friends and I were looking for a local place to have a girls night dinner. I came here due to all the great reviews and I was NOT disappointed. Parking was tough since there is no direct parking lot. Don't let this discourage you as the food and service more then makes up for it. Our waitress was amazing. I drove by this place once but didn't see the name but from my Yelp browsing, I had this on my list of places to try... I came here on a Friday night to grab some comfort food w/ hubby; we were seated right away and our waiter came over shortly after. I ordered crab and artichoke dip, a just peachy and the cheesesteak; hubby ordered the deviled eggs, which are served with grilled shrimp and a chicken sandwich. When the just peachy came out it was not to my liking - it was much stronger than I imagined so I then ordered a pineapple margarita, which was delicious! The crab and artichoke dip was pretty good too; I was coaxed into trying the deviled eggs and they were just OK to me - they did have a very unique twist but I felt like they needed a tad more oomph to really whet my palate. The look of the cheesesteak was great but the taste was mediocre - the bread didn't taste fresh and the sautéed onions were cold; the steak itself was tasty but the flavor wasn't enough to negate the aforementioned factors. Hubby said his chicken sandwich was OK although he did finish it. I was feeling like a "hungry woman" on this night so I ordered the warm chocolate cookie - again, sadly, it didn't do much for me :-/ I love the rustic, whimsical decor of the restaurant and the waitstaff was great and very attentive. Super trendy spot with a industrial vibe. My boyfriend and I had the opportunity to check this spot out during our trip to Pennsylvania. We stumbled upon here before leaving Pennsylvania for a quick lunch. It was packed but we were able to find a seat at one of the bar table fairly quickly. We started off with their Confit Wings that was braised in duck fat, very delicious! Absolutely loved the brown butter hot sauce to it, added a unique take on the typical Buffalo sauce. We got the Buffalo Mac & Cheese, WOW! Absolutely delicious!!! Amazing flavors, you get that nice cheesy cavatappi noodles that I love. Then you get that tangy and sweet Buffalo sauce, finishing it with the rich Gorgonzola cheese and perfectly fried chicken. AMAZING! We also got the Rosemary Lemon Chicken Brick Oven Pizza, I have to say, the pizza itself the texture is perfectly done. Only thing that was disappointing is the lack of flavor with this pizza. I saw how unique the description of this pizza was, and had to try, thinking there would be more of a rosemary and lemon flavor. It was quite disappointing but would try their other pizza for sure next time. We ended our lunch with the Charlie's Cookie. Oh man this was heaven! I loved the sweet and saltiness to this cookie, the hazelnut added to this cookie is soooo delicious and would definitely order again. Have come in a few times now and haven't been disappointed. Service is always friendly, quick, and helpful, as is the hosting team. Food comes out quick and it's tasty. We've tried the pizza, the ramen, the tuna stack, and the burger, as well as the pretzel and the loaded fries. All well executed, with my favorite being the tuna stack. It's simple and elegant, with elevated flavors and a flawless presentation, it's the dish for me. It can be a bit noisy here, and if they seat you near the windows, do note that the air vents are directly above, so they'll be blowing air directly down on you. It's been busy and crowded both times we came, hence the noise. The place is cute though, and it's got some character with the plants on the walls and the nooks where the tables are. We are glad they are a neighborhood establishment -- we'll be back. I just wish they had more IPAs on tap. :) read more

We went to Brick & Brew for the first time. It was pretty crowded and noisy. Overall the food and drinks were excellent. I had the beer flight (you can pick any four beers on tap for $10). By far my favorite was the Grand Cacao however the watermelon gose was refreshing. The fried chicken sandwich was better than expected as it had one piece of breast and one piece of thigh. The cookie skillet for dessert was satisfying. The mahi mahi wrap was disappointing due to the pineapple cucumber slaw consisting mostly of just cabbage (a few tiny pieces of pineapple) and the size of the mahi mahi was significantly smaller than the lettuce. read more

It was more like a warning than a greeting like your time is up, get up and get out. She didn't approach any other table and we were the only African-Americans in the place. Updating my review to make this 5 stars. Brick n Brew has moved to the old Oakmont Pub location on the corner of Darby and Eagle. They did a great job with the renovations. Really cool interior and I hear they are adding rooftop seating. How awesome is that? Lots of room in the new location for many diners. My daughter and son in law treated us to lunch today. I got the mussels. They were sooo good. The sauce they were in was fabulous. There were lots of mussels and they also put onions and peppers in there. I loved having those with the mussels. I would definitely order that again. Hubby got the cheese steak which is more like a gourmet cheese steak. It was big. He only ate half. I had a bite. It was good. My daughter got the buffalo Mac and cheese. I tried a bite of that too. I'm not a fan of Mac and cheese but I thought it was really good. Nice and cheesy. I look forward to our next visit! read more

So very loud. The place wasn't crowded, just horrible acoustics. No parking except meters on the street. My mushroom pizza had twice as much cheese than needed and half the mushrooms it should have had. My sister's short rib burrito was excellent, and the fries were crispy, handcut gems.
