Waitress left and went to take of bill took a long time to get the bill correct. The waitress said she had to wait on her manager to correct the bill. Terrible. Just terrible. Walked in at 12:15 for lunch. Completely empty restaurant. Asked the hostess to sit at the table by the window. She said "we don't have a server for this area." Honestly, anytime you eat at a nationwide chain restaurant, you are not looking for flavor or high levels of taste in their everyday menu items. On occasion, when a special, short time dish is offered, the people in the kitchen will awaken from their culinary coma and actual place more than a dash of spices on the dish. Well, this place does a couple of things right. I like the discounted rate given to military personnel on Mondays. I also like that after 10pm, appetizers goes to half price. They are open until 2am everyday, so if you just wish to dip off, late night, to a place where you will get the same old, same old taste from your dishes, then you do well going here. There was hardly any customers in the restaurant and we still had to wait to be seated. We were seated next to a dirty table. We were there for about 10 to 15 minutes and no one came to take our drink order. There was no music playing out in the lobby/dinning area. You could hear everyone's conversations. I went here for a graduation dinner with a party of 10. We had to wait a few minutes for all of our party to arrive but they set up the table and we were able to sit down without our whole party being here. Our waiter took our drink orders and then we got some appetizers and ordered our entrees. We got a varied array of dishes and for the most part they got them all right except one. It was a bacon cheeseburger but there was no bacon. The waiter brought some back but it was too crispy for my picky nephew so he returned again with the right degree of crispness. No one had any issues with the food and the service was pretty good. Our waiter kept our tea, lemonade and my Arnold Palmer filled. In the end we had multiple checks and there was no problems. My husband and I came to Applebee's all the time before moving to Houston. We have always been pleased with the food and service. This was our first experience at the Applebee's in Katy, TX. I am very disappointed in our experience at Applebee's. My husband and I came tonight as they were holding a Teacher Appreciation special. When we walked in the door, the hostess asked if we had two and sat us down immediately. Upon sitting down, my husband and I sat and waited for 15 minutes before a man came to our table asking us if we had been helped. He seemed very out of it, like he was high. We stated that we wanted waters which took another five minutes. In that five minutes, a sweet waitress asked if we were taken care of. We should have said no so she could take care of us. Overall, it took almost 25 minutes for the waiter to take our order. Mind you, the place was not busy. Probably should have been a red flag when we walked in with their special. He also asked if we wanted dessert when he took our appetizer/food order. Thankfully they allow people to order appetizers through the device at the table so my husband and I could get something started before he took our order. It took 20 minutes to receive our food (not bad for the fact that he didn't take our order for so long). The manager brought us our food. My husband and I both ordered the brisket tacos. The tacos were warm, not hot, warm. The onion straws on the taco were not crispy and were cold. The fries were fresh, sweet! But I could have gotten better fries at Chick-fil-A if that's all I wanted for dinner. At least it would have been a pleasure to serve us if we went there. When the manager asked if we had everything, I reminded her that we made an order through the tablet at the table for some boneless wings. While eating, the hostess began to bus the table behind us and the waiter asked her to bus another. Her response was "Dog, I'm busy. You're making me bus all your tables and do my own job." Good for you girl. Stand up for yourself and don't let him walk over you, he isn't hustling. Especially since there were people waiting at the door for her assistance. Our waiter did not stop by for the rest of the meal. We got literally 2 minutes of our waiters time the entire visit, which was way over an hour by the way. He never refilled drinks or anything. The manager delivered our wings about 5 minutes after we were already finished eating. She did state that we probably don't want them anymore since we were finished eating and they she would remove them from our bill. She asked if we needed anything else, we asked for a box. We still have yet to receive our box. Heck, am I even going to ask her to apply the teacher appreciation special to our bill since it hasn't been added? It's gonna take another 20 minutes. Venting#245 Much respect for those who enjoy the warm meals at Applebees...and If you enjoy eating there. This attack has nothing to do with you. The only reason why I chose to even consider the thought of spending time and money at this establishment, was for the soul purpose of making new memories with my son, and fulfill his curiosity of dining in at "Applebees because they sell nothing but apples" Last time I dined in at Applebees was back in the 90's....and I cant honestly say alot has changed in terms of service....and food. the restaurant is divided in half. One side "smoke free" and the other well... emphysema lounge. Regardless on where you sit, if you dare order a salad... consider that a "smoke salad", dried lettuce with a taste of tar. The Host looked at my 3.5 year old and said. "Is he young enough for a kids meal?" I looked at her and said "he's 3.5". She replied- "I guess". She sat us near the kitchen and the lounge, which was divided by a thin glass that ran to the top of the ceiling. I thought, well... is not THAT bad. 15 minutes later, our server (polite) excused himself for his delay, I understood and provided him with respect and patience. Placed our order and off he went. I look around as my son played with a tablet that Applebees so strategically set for the customer's kids to play...for an additional 2 bucks. No problem. The place is outdated...like bell bottom pants from the 70's The carpet had a very dingy smell, which I have to admit, goes perfectly with the food( which will be explained in a few) The tiles on the ceiling are off white, which is the result for having people smoke In the building for many years. The seats are somewhat decent. "HEY, are you Fucking kidding me, you for real dawg, hahahahaha!?" I look up to see who said that and surprisingly it was coming from the......Kitchen. The radio was full blast, I could hear every single beat and lyric from Drake's song "Gods Plan" I like Drake...but he's ok. But not ok when management allows their staff to do whatever they want to do. There's a path between the kitchen and main dining area, which is divided by a very THIN wall, which forces you to eavesdrop on their f-bomb conversations, these kids were dropping them like atomic bombs at Nagasaki! 25 minutes later, our food arrives. I ordered a six ounce steak with broccoli and a baked potato, my son had chicken quesadillas with fries AND APPLE JUICE!!! yaayyy!! They did have something Apple related!! Benjamin doesn't care so much for the soggy lettuce and diced tomatoes on the side, he settles for the quesadillas and fries. Everything at this point is subpar, mediocre. I grab my utensils, and the knife was not polished and was left with watermarks and a slight debris near the handle...which i assumed was used for a delicious plate. I bite into my first little but very stubborn rubbery steak. Over seasoned but surprisingly the broccoli were very salty! I had ordered an baked potatoe but was later informed that they dont make them until after 4p.m. and settled for mashed potatoes instead. To conclude As I tried my best to finish my food, I flipped my steak for damm reason...and as I was cutting through it... I noticed a 3 inch hair attached to the plate. I can tolerate alot.... but when it comes to food, you need to do your best to satisfy a paying customer. I can honestly say that I've tasted Applebees's death, and sipped on their chapter 13 iced water. Came here today with my family after church, we arrived at 12:30 or so, we came in and got seated immediately there wasn't that much people in the restaurant. we got seated and a server came and asked for our drinks and then a new server came and served us from then, took about 35 minutes to order and for the food to arrive. i got the all you can eat buffalo boneless wings, my mom also got those, and my dad got the bourbon burger and my sister chicken tenders. food was hot and pretty solid, although they are understaffed so it's understandable that it takes a while for the food to come, Solid food no errors or misplaced orders, might come here again next sunday! although i would recommend that they change the inside of the restaurant, it looks pretty depressing, there's not enough natural light and the walls are different colors and it looks old. all in all, if you can wait a little and want some solid food come on here to this applebee's. read more

This may have been the worst Applebee's I've ever been to. This location is where dreams come to die. They allow smoking in the bar, but is only divided by a glass divider. The entire place reeked of smoke. We went on a weekend after lunch rush and yet the service was not spectacular and the food was questionable. (Fries were under cooked and chicken was DRY!). The only redeeming quality was that we could pay at the table and get out fast. I would not recommend. read more

This was pretty much the only restaurant open in our area so we decided to check it out. It was Christmas and our only option, the food was pretty good. I had the Mac and cheese with chicken entree and my husband had the grilled chicken and shrimp skillet. Our waitress was sweet, and also the bartender. We have no complaints about this location up until I saw a large critter crawling on the kitchen door. The look on one of the servers face was so priceless. I probably fell out of my chair laughing. My girlfriend and I came here and ordered steaks (I swear, all I eat are steaks). When the food came, I noticed that the steak I had ordered came with around 90% fat. As in, out of the whole thing, 90% of it was just pure fat. I was able to get a server and they told me that steaks always come with fat. After some time, I was able to get a manager and even he decided that that steak was just fat. He offered to get another steak done and at the end of the night just charged us for one steak. The steak itself wasn't exactly great, and I've had better steaks for cheaper. Overall: We got fat when we ordered steaks (literally!). The review has nothing to do with the food. We ordered the appetizer combo and pretzels with cheese dip, and they tasted as one would expect from an Applebee's restaurant. The service, however, is not just lacking, but downright disappointing. We came in around 12:30am, and we waited 5 minutes before getting seated. I didn't want to sit by the bar because of the cigarette smell, so we asked to sit in the dining area. After getting seated, we waited another 20 minutes before getting served. I thought they were short-staffed, but it turned out the servers were busy talking behind the partition glass. When our server finally came, my husband asked her what was on tap. She didn't know what they had, and I ended up just looking at the drinks menu. She then took the menu and read what I already knew. My husband didn't want any at that point, but I ended up ordering Dos Equis. When I got my drink, I noticed my mug had some sprinkles on it. I thought it was salt, but it ended up being sugar. I thought that's how they served that particular beer at this location. I asked the server if that's how they served beer, and she said that it was just salt. I told her that it was actually sugar. She then started to say that maybe she did that in error, then stopped short. She then asked me if it tasted bad. I just told her that I just wiped it off. I didn't finish the drink because now, I'm thinking she used a dirty mug. We paid, left, and vowed never to return to this location again. Some people would say that we shouldn't have paid, but it's really late and I just wanted to leave. My husband read an article regarding chain restaurants like Applebee's are hurting in revenue. With service like we've experienced, it's not too hard to understand why.
