Great food and great service, we are never disappointed when we go here,...............

My wife and I arrived and had to wait several minutes to be seated, even though we could clearly see employees. Once we were seated it took another several minutes to take our order even though we were just sitting in the bar area. We ordered drinks and the three appetizer special and it took a long time to just get our appetizers and our drinks and they came together. The drinks were not delivered ahead of the appetizers. Our waiter seem to be the only one working as we could tell the bartender who had three patrons to serve was just talking and doing nothing, not making our drinks, just talking, not seeming in any rush. When we received our food we were surprised that the three appetizers were not very much food. It seemed like a very small amount of pickle fries. The quesadilla seemed small as well, and the mozzarella sticks were very underwhelming. It seemed like we had been given the equivalent of one appetizer. It is unlikely that I'll return to an Applebee's based on this and I would honestly rather go to Chili's, where the service is faster and I get larger portions. read more

Honestly I would ahve only given it two stars for the food but the third star was for the efforts of the serving staff who were trying very hard to hustle around and get people served, some even helped in the kitchen to get foo prepared. Sadly, everything was, well sort of bad. The ranch dressing I ordered was good but but the bacon cheese burger was burnt, over cooked, on a hard rubbery bun and the bacon tasted old like it had been cooked hours earlier and sat around waiting to be used. I used to think Applebees competed head to head with Chili's but Chilis is far better and sadly is better staffed adding to the disapointment with Applebees, because the staff is really trying but the quality just isn't there. read more

Disappointing experience, especially during the holidays. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel like an inconvenience because our party included 4 adults and a two-year-old. The hostess was passive-aggressive, and that attitude carried over to our server (lip tattoo on his neck), who seemed annoyed we were dining during a slower period (before churches let out). Despite leaving generous tips, he didn't say thank you and instead grabbed the receipts and items from the table. He and his coworkers then talked negatively about us within earshot, which was extremely unprofessional. The food didn't help--served warm instead of hot, and the pasta was watery. We just ate lunch in Joplin mo. I ordered no salt on French fries twice and never received French fries with no salt. I was never received any. I only got one glass of water.never was asked if I wanted any more. There was more bones than meat on the ribs oh and the French fries I received was the ends and pieces. Stopped in for a burger yesterday and a couple of things struck us as wrong. First, a server should NEVER sweep a carpet with a broom AND NEVER EVER where customers are seated. Just yuck!! The Fiesta Lime Chicken was great. The rice was over done and over seasoned though. As for the Alfredo. The broccoli was not steamed and the linguine was over cooked and under cooked. I had hard pieces of linguine along with really slimy linguine. Spent my time eating the chicken and not the pasta. Our Server, Bryan, spent his time tending to his costumers at the bar and checked on us once. Every other time he was at our table was to give us our order and without any words exchanged. Every time we did need something it took fifteen minutes to get it. He was not attentive either. I say this because I got the wrong drink. Definitely room to improve. The food was excellent. I ordered a Bourbon Shrimp and Chicken dinner. It comes with red mashed potato. This arrived on a cast iron fajita pan sizzling hot. The flavor was amazing. The chicken was tender like you read about. The only thing that was amiss was the shrimp which showed up tepid in temperature. I was able to remedy this by relocating the shrimp to touch the blazing hot pan which corrected the temperature instantly. The waitress was very skilled and her execution was spot on. read more

Worst meal ever!!! It was over an hour before we finally got our food. Everything was cold. My steak was cold and extra rare when it was meant to be medium well. It was the equivalent of me buying meat at the grocery store rare. Sent it back. Still raw AF. Not only did they use a press to brown the outside but still raw raw in the middle. When they returned it my plate with sides was swimming in butter and oil. The manager came to the table and he looked like he hasn't bathed/showered in days! I adore the Joplin Applebee's. Consistently excellent, no matter what time you roll on in. Obviously monthly $5 drink specials, but check out their online menu for ideas how you could expand that a bit, winky face. Staff is busy, but not frantic. Helpful, but not annoying. Prompt, but not obtrusive. Their website says they dropped prices. Wow, COVID sucks. A restaurant THIS great shouldn't be struggling! Go help 'em out, Joplin. You gotta eat. I had never been to this Applebees before and I was blown away. I have always considered Applebees to be a low end chain restaurant but this place was 5 star today. Ricky the cook made me the best sirloin steak I have ever eaten in a restaurant in my entire life. Our waitress was amazing. She was attentive without being annoying and had a smile and pleasant disposition. She made sure we were happy with everything. The place was clean and reasonably quiet. There were a few people enjoying drinks at the bar and quite a few other people eating throughout the restaurant. I'm also happy to report that the perfect margaritas are in fact, perfect! I know because I had two of them! Wonderful experience. I would go back in a heartbeat. read more

Never eat here. I think our waiter was on something. It took 45 minutes to just get my APPETIZER, which was the mozzarella sticks. They were pretty good but obviously pre-packaged and just heated up. It took another 20 to 30 minutes to get our food. I ordered the Mac and cheese with chicken tenders. The chicken was actually really good, but the pasta tasted like nothing and was just kinda thrown on the plate. We were never once asked if we needed refills, extra napkins, etc. There was a spider on the table next to us that the waiter had to kill. The floor is covered in dropped food and everything is just kind of sticky and dirty. Tables around us were leaving and refusing to pay. Some never got their food. We were lucky I guess. 1 star. Not sure why i keep coming back here. Service is mediocre but in this day and age it's hard to knock them on that. No one can seem to keep workers. Our waiter came by once to fill drinks. Food was warm but not hot. Think it had been sitting under the heat lamp for a bit. The for cheese macaroni and cheese was more like noodles with chicken steps on top. Barely any cheese and very minimal sauce on the chicken. The beef nachos were mostly chips a tablespoon or two of beef and then lots of melted shredded cheese. Few jalapeños and lots of green onions. I have never been denied military discount like I have today from this Applebees even when showing my military ID I got denied because I am a spouse of a service member that's active stationed overseas. Was told management is "picky" on discounts now... kinda a punch in the gut cause I may not be the one active but I am part of the service. I don't mind so much the quality concerning the price, but they're constantly updating their menu to "keep up with the times." My question is what makes them unique? I ordered the bourbon street chicken and shrimp. Maybe this is just me, but I couldn't taste the pesto flavour in the sauce. My friend who ordered the same plate barely got any pesto sauce. I've been eating at this franchise across the country for as long as they've been in business. Today was unfortunately the worst experience I've had. My wife, daughter, and I stopped in for dinner. My wife and daughter got the 2 for $22 Chicken tenders baskets which were fine and my daughters onion rings appetizer was also fine. My wife's salad was literally frozen. She started expelling the froze parts as to not complain but the further down she got the more she realized the entire salad was frozen. She put everything back in the bowl and told the server. She took the salad back and brought back the same one that was now thawed?!? Needless to say, it didn't get touched. I ordered a 8oz sirloin as that was the only steak option and ordered it medium with mashed potatoes and steam broccoli. Steak was well done, mashed potatoes were like soup but the broccoli was good. Meh, I guess no matter where you are, Applebee's is no good. The service was great, although the hostess was awkward... She didn't know if she could sit us in a booth or not. There were two booths by the windows to the left of the door! The food its self is typical cheap bar food. We both got the Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp with salads. My son got the kids corn dog and strawberries with yogurt. My chicken had little pesto on it while my friend's looked like it had plenty. We just stopped for a quick bite before leaving Joplin.
