We came here with our two friends who live in the area and this is one of their favorite restaurants. I love the decor in the place and our server, Patience, was very friendly and attentive. We ordered the walleye entree and the grilled tuna. The sauce on the walleye was a little sweet for me so I would order it on the side next time. But the fish was perfectly cooked. Greeted by a homeless meth addict outside the front door, packed tight seating, bussed my own table several times, rib eye was grisly, didn't know there was a way to mess up a loaded baked potato. The bacon wrapped water chestnuts were good but it's hard to mess up anything wrapped in bacon and coated with bbq sauce. The best thing that night in the restaurant was the company, too bad the only people I could hear out of a table of 10 were sitting to my left and right it was so loud. Ordered the Cajun Napolean Filet. The cook on the filets was nailed. Super tender, and well seasoned, which included a Napoleon creme sauce. I dont get crab cakes often, but they were also quite tasty. The broccoli and mashed were under salted. The mashed also were relatively chunky, so more rustic than a traditional mashed. If ya don't know, well you do now, and please make time to give it a try since it may knock your socks off with their original takes on some amazing dishes that are sure to please!! My Cajun Seafood Pasta gave me memories of being back home on "The Hill" with it's rich sauce and huge fresh tasting seafood mixed in. Wow! That was a master class in dish design and I may never order anything else besides this lol. Friend got the Crispy Fried Chicken Salad and it was one of the best looking salads that I have seen In forever. The service was great! The gal was funny and knowledgeable about their menu! I travel from Las Vegas and it's a requirement I vist this restaurant whenever I am in Joplin. I was there on Saturday. My personal experience whenever I am at club 609 the food is fresh, made to order and always tasty. The staff is attentive and if you are lucky, you'll get to see Steve who is phenomenal. As for the apps, I recommend the tuna bruschetta app but of course all of their food is great so you'll spend a good amount of time trying to decide what to order. Back in the area with some friends from college, we came out here early for an early dinner and drinks. Service was great, we were sat immediately, and also got our drinks order in ASAP. I'm from Chicago so finding a 2 for 10 happy hour is nuts. I had the Chipotle Beef & Cheese, with the house made chips. Both great, chips super crunchy and not overly greasy. 609 is simply amazing. This business is a landmark in Joplin. My Dad went here 20 years ago and now that I'm grown and back in town we get to hang out at Club 609 together for dinner and good times. The owners and wait staff are wonderful. They'll remember your names and treat you like a part of the family. Food is great and the happy hour can't be beat. I recommend trying a 2 for 1 Lemon Drop. You can thank me later. I lived in KC, MO for four years and brought some big city friends to Club 609 for a grad party and they were blown away. Truly a treasure in downtown Joplin. In-laws and I stopped here for lunch while on our way back to Oklahoma. I just love old buildings with exposed brick, visible air ducts, and original wood floors. There's just almost nothing better than that to me for a restaurant. All that being said, this place had all of the above along with old signs, old doors, mannikin arms here and there to name a few. I've been going into 609 for several years now. Most always to sit at the bar and enjoy a few drinks with friends. If you want to feel like you're the "star of the show" be sure to go when Caitlin is working. This girl goes above and beyond to give you the best experience and the yummiest drinks. If you're not sure what to order, you can just tell her the flavors you like and liquors you prefer, and she will create the most amazing custom drink for you! Every time I go in, she's mixing me something new, although she has a signature drink just for me too. Caitlin isn't just a phenomenal bartender, she's also a dang good person. One night I was being bothered quite a bit by another patron in the bar. Caitlin noticed and was looking out for me. She's the absolute best. I struggled on the rating for this review. There have been times in the past where I could have given it 4 stars. However, during my most recent visit this weekend, it was very much a 2 star occasion. Some pros: the location is great. There is a very large window in the front that overlooks Main Street. And if you're ever out and about wandering the downtown shops, Club 206 will be very convenient for you come dinnertime. The inside decor is very pleasing. Kind of dim at night, but it does have a lively atmosphere if that is what you are into. It gives off a swanky vibe with its cool artwork hanging on the walls. However, that's about all this place can offer you: atmosphere. Having eaten here several times through the years, I feel like what you get in terms of food and service is nowhere near your expectations upon entering. Pretentious is what it is, and the more I think about me, the more irritated I become. But let's discuss the most important aspect of any restaurant: the food. I've had some really good entrees in the past - the Stir Fry Chicken Medley is delicious and the Salmon Florentine has great flavor. Of course, those items were consumed at the minimum 3 years ago. If they are still great, I do not know. This time around I ordered the Medallions of Beef Tenderloin Diane with a side of fried carrots and parmesan portobello orzo. When they brought the plate to me, everything looked delicious. The sauce on my filet seemed very appetizing - but of course the sauce is always my favorite part. I eat in compartments so I started with the carrots - these were nice and crunchy with some sort of sweet glaze. Tasty. Orzo came next, which was heavenly. Orzo is perhaps my favorite pasta, and the creamy parmesan sauce was wonderful. I could have eaten an entire bowl of this, literally. An entire LARGE bowl. Then finally, the steak. It was ... no bueno. The sauce was so overly peppered and the dijon mustard was so overpowering, it was completely inedible. I was able to scrape off the majority and salvage my steak in parts, but I was so bummed about that sauce. We told our server, and were informed the sauce guy used to be the salad guy, and he's in training right now. Well, he sucks. And he should learn to taste his food before putting it on a customer's plate. One positive note: the steak was cooked exactly to my expectations. On the other hand, we were not offered any compensation for the horrible sauce. My husband had the Black and Bleu Filet, which was a bleu-cheese encrusted filet, and he gave me some of it since he felt sorry for me. This was very tasty and well seasoned. In fact, he really enjoyed his entire dish. Other things to note - the Key Lime Martini is super good. They are also usually very busy on the weekends. I would be interested to know how many of their nightly patrons are actually satisfied with their food. Based on all the Yelp reviews, I would say not many. read more

Absolutely awful service. The lady owner is always hella rude when we go in. I'm not sure what kinda hella she crawled out of but just ew. Don't go here unless you want to be lied to about drink prices as well. One crappy shot drinks are now basically 10$. Never heard of a place that serves bottom shelf liquor for almost double the price now. Absolutely disgusted with what you've done with the place. We enjoyed the food and I personally would like more vegetables in the stir fry. Over all great atmosphere, bartender, & waitress. I didn't get their names but I was there June 4th at 12pm. The most amazing part I want share is I lost my wallet there and during the night the cleaning lady found it and turned it in all intact. The salad came with a grain basket with artisan crackers and bread. The wait was what I would consider average and service was great! This place is a diamond in the rough. We were staying at the VRBO that was next door to this place. We were in town for a wedding and we passed and saw the place was packed with people eating. The decor is very eclectic with art for sale by local artists. It made the ambience of the restaurant very warm and sociable. We ended up eating 2 lunches and a sandwich at night while we watched the football game at the bar while we were in town. One meal I had the homemade chicken and rice soup and there was more chicken in there than the rice !! Then I had a prime rib sandwich on the 1/2 & 1/2 meal and barely finished it. My daughter had the club and that did not disappoint either. I was able to help her finish the sandwich and her steak fries. Everything that we ordered was over the top and the other family members agreed. Next trip we have to Joplin this will be a MUST STOP place for us to eat. read more

We had to ask several times each time we needed something. It was busy but we waited almost an hour and a half for food. That is unacceptable. The first time I ate here was for dinner and it was really good (salmon stuffed with brie). So, I thought nothing of coming back when I was in the area. My waiter was very friendly and I always appreciate that. I was driving so no drinks but he kept my water glass filled. I'd read good things about the herbed chicken dip. It is $12.99. I asked if I could get a half order as I was by myself and didn't want to only have it as an entree. My waiter suggested getting the dip and maybe a 1/2 sandwich with a soup or salad. To my surprise, the herbed chicken dip was spicy. When my server checked back with me, I told him the dip was too spicy for me and I was surprised it was spicy with cajun type seasonings. He reminded me that the menu did say it was blackened herbed dip. I told him that if I'd missed that it said 'blackened' the mistake was mine as clearly that implies cajun spices. So, he went to show me where it said 'blackened' ....and.... it didn't.... so I went ahead and ordered the salad and the 1/2 sandwich. I told him I really liked a good blue cheese and he said they had one. Nope, notsomuch... Then he disappeared for quite awhile. I think he was thinking I was trying to stay for happy hour since I'd asked about it earlier. I knew I wasn't staying, only curious. When he reappeared, I needed to ask for my check and left. So, to my dismay, this ended up only being a 2-3 star visit. I'm not going to demand anything at a restaurant. I will be polite and really don't feel comfortable ASKING for someone to do the right thing. But I also know the server should have offered to take back the herbed dip as it was not marketed as 'spicy' and yet it was. Regarding the happy hour, it is nothing like it use to be apparently. Now it is ONE appetizer item that will be half price and that one item will not be chosen until close to 5:00pm. NO ONE will know in advance what that ONE item will be. For my late lunch, I spent $26.00 drinking water with "herbed" chicken dip and 1/2 Reuben sandwich (was okay, not amazing) and a mediocre salad. In no way would I recommend going out of your way to stop here. Too bad- I was looking forward to and expecting better. read more

Customer service is POOR. Waited forever for host to appear. Never greeted me. I had to approach him and ask, "Is there a host available to seat me?" Then waited forever for server to greet me. When asked about gluten free options/guidance he could care less to help or offer to run it by someone in the kitchen. Dropped off appetizer hen disappeared. I realize there's no place setting. I wait so long for him or anyone else to notice me looking for help that I finally got up, peeked in the kitchen, and asked if anyone could get my server to bring me a place setting so I can eat the appetizers he dropped off. The woman immediately took off to get help. It was the host who simply set a plate and silverware down and walked away. I would have expected something like "Here you go. I'm sorry about that." This was 8:15pm Fri, March 4th. Unfortunately nothing improved. The shocking part is that I've been here before, on a Monday night. My experience was the opposite. I had a delightful, attentive server. WTF? I will only come back Mon-Thurs, if that. What a shame. I thought I'd found a cute little gem of a restaurant/bar. Sadly my Chilean Sea Bass came out so overlooked that it's almost Unrecognizable. I still ate it. But what a shame. And it kills me to pay $35 for the entree portion alone (worth every penny when properly prepared). read more

Worst service I have EVER had! The owner was incredibly rude and unprofessional. We arrived for dinner and drinks at 7pm with a group of 8 and were not served dinner until after 9:30pm. When we tried to discuss concerns with the manager she became hostile and rude then actually tried to blame us! The food is mediocre at best. The owner is there often and can be rude. There was also a time when they hired live jazz on the weekends, which really added to the experience, but that hasn't happen in sometime.
