Messed up our food... 4 times, and finally gave us a steak that was cooked, but gave us a 6 oz and not an 8 oz. forgot my shrimp, gave someone else shrimp after they had already given it to me. It's Applebee's. They have a range of moderately priced over salted food just like every Applebee's in America. The servers are pretty good though, if you are into sports they have a wide range of tv's and speakers at the tables in the bar section so you can pick which one you want to listen to. The only reason I occasionally come here is that they and their kitchen is open until midnight so if you or a friend work late and want food that isn't served in a bag this is really the only option in Joplin. read more

Absolutely the WORST restaurant. I walked in (the restaurant had-maybe- a third of it's capacity) the hostess was missing and there were three other couples, who were waiting to be acknowledged for several minutes. It took five minutes for me to be acknowledged then seated. It took our server 33 minutes (from the time we ordered) to bring our entrees to us. We ordered an appetizer and that was brought to us AFTER our entrees. We finished our drinks after 10 minutes and wasn't given any refills till we got our appetizer. The server apologized twice about our wait and explained it's usually not like this. However, we wouldn't see her for 15 minutes at a time. There were only three tables in her section and the table next to us made comments about how they never saw her either. My husband's steak was overcooked and my chicken and rice meal was extremely underwhelming. This entire experience lasted an hour and a half, btw. Absolutely awful service, and not just by the server, it was a team effort by Applebee's and its staff. I would say do better, but it had been 2 years since we last went to Applebee's because we had a VERY similar experience (on a different day of the week and time). If I could give less than one star I would. NEVER going to the Joplin Applebee's again. read more

Food was adequate, my rice was slightly dry. Service was fairly quick. Basically what you expect from an Applebee's, nothing special. But the real saving grace, and the reason this is a 5 star review is our waitress, Brandy E. She was very attentive and had a bubbly, positive attitude. Our wings were barely warmer than room Temperature. 3 were inedible as they were rick hard. Our waitress was great very efficient and did her job well. Our main dish also was barely warmer than room temperature. I should have sent them both back. My fault I didn't. The 3 cheese cavatapi had no flavor and my butcher meat and potatoes were bland. The French onion soup was not very hot and was weak with flavor. There was not much cheese and bread on it either. Basically I don't know what is going on there but for almost 40.00 for two people something should have tasted better than what it did. read more

I am boiling....... My son and I went to eat for a early dinner. It took 10 minutes for the waitress to come and take our drink order and didn't bring my food out. It was sitting under the heater for a good amount of time. I ordered a steak and he got pizza. His meal came out 10 minutes before mine, which is fine except I didn't even get my salad out before my food so he finished his food before me. I did not get a knife with my steak so I could not eat my meal, just my salad. When I left i left my containers in a bag on the table. When I got down the road I realized I left the bag, they threw it away and did not hold it for any amount of time. My ENTIRE meal was threw away because I didn't have a knife to eat it. They would not reimburse me or even give me a discount to get another meal. The manager would not even speak to me. An entire $40 meal gone in the trash. I have never been so upset at a restaurant in my life. read more

For a chain sports bar, this isn't too bad, and I definitely prefer it over Buffalo Wild Wings. There are a lot of side options and I like that many entrees come in half size or lunch size. The thing that I dislike about this Applebees is the service. We invariably get a fake-bubbly server who looks all of 12 and acts very condescending to our party of late 20- and 30-somethings. We have ate here many times over the years and it was always a good meal. The past 2 times were horrible. We were here Saturday and I hate being negative about things but this was the worst. Ate here the other night and wasn't totally impressed, infact I have seen better. If anyone who knows the sports bar, Sportsman Park in Joplin will realize that Applebee's is a scaled down version. Never realized that Applebee's is a sports bar. Not really into Sports bars so I wasn't too impressed with the atmosphere and the cramp space. It has a very small area of room. Also what did not impress me was the price...which was pretty expensive. Not recommended for a college student budget. However the food is pretty delicious. Bad food and even worse service. I am not sure if I had lunch here on a bad day, but it took over an hour for us to get our order. Salad and soup doesn't seem so complicated right? I guess not. After 45 minutes we were about to walk out and the manager told us that the cheek was on him and that if we stayed a few more minutes he'd bring us our food. We waited 10 more minutes and our salads and cold soups arrived. The chinese salad was terrible and the french onion tasted so salty and artificial. I am only giving this Applebee's 2 stars because I actually did like the cold tomato soup. The manager took off our appetizer but made us pay for our meals. So we ended up wasting 1.5 hours and spending ~$20 (for 2 people) for a crappy lunch. I don't plan on coming back. read more

The food here is always good and there is usually a steady flow of people. However, you have to walk through the smoking section to get to where you want to go. Definitely a turn-off for me but we ask for a booth in the back and can't smell anything. read more

here is my problem with this establishment. the smoking area fills the entire center of the restaurant and the non-smoking areas are very affected by this. i sat in the "non-smoking" section and right next to my table in the "smoking" section were two ladies and a baby and they smoked before, during and after the meal. This affected the taste and smell long after i left. The food and service were good, but until they make this a non-smoking restaurant i will not be dining in again. read more

Don't expect even decent service. We went here at 9:30 in a Monday night. Got seated quickly then sat and sat. Half an hour later still hadn't seen a waiter, no drinks or anything. Ended up just walking out. My advice is to skip this place and go elsewhere. read more

My daughter & I ate lunch here in April. Right off noticed the smoke from the smoking section in our non-smoking section all of two booths over in same area. That's not good. The server was very nice and we ordered the special 2 for $20. and I had the sirloin steak dinner. We have eaten recently in Branson this special and it was delicious! The first bite into my steak and it tasted nothing like beef I have ever eaten! I ordered med. & server right off noticed it was overcooked. I was going to eat it & say nothing about that-but the taste was horrible! What are earth have you done with your steaks? They don't taste real-taste like imitation meat!!! Seriously! I spit mine in my napkin! Server took it back and manager brought out another-in 2 seconds that was an extra cooking. Same taste. I left it on my plate. Could not stomach it! and I was hungry! They offered me other menu and to order but I quietly ate my potatoe & veggies. Don't like a scene. Just came from Doctor appointment & didn't need that. They did take of 8.00 from bill and apolizied. Well, its ok, but I will not be going back to Applebees again-not even in Branson where the steak was good. I have eaten many steaks in my life-but this was definitely not beef! You can't fool an old fool! So, if you need to save money I would suggest not trying to trick the public-just maybe put your prices up(if you have to) and serve good, quality products.
