Wow! We have always loved the Monaca Applebee's, but we love it even more today! Imani was our fabulous waitress who knows exactly what we enjoy. Wonderful manager Sean seated us and Jason and Aldea came over to greet us. Our appetizer was hot and spicy - so good! Skipper loved his macaroni and cheese and yogurt. The steaks were hot and mouth watering! The cooks, although busy, were quite efficient! Even though they were super busy, customers seemed happy as did the courteous and respectful servers and management. Skipper left his Gameboy and Imani contacted us immediately! Applebees always has great menu specials! Love the 2/$25 deals! What a huge Caesar salad they have! Very good too! Lots of everything in it! Imani was our waitress and she went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect! The cheeseburger on the special was very good...it came on a searing hot plate carefully place upon melted cheese....oooey gooey cheese! Worst Applebee's ever. Ordered a drink and food at the bar to go, but had the pretzels appetizer. Drink and appetizer were cool, but the quesadilla burger (no pink) and fries (which I've ordered plenty of times in Virginia and the Chippewa Applebee's with no issues) were HORRIBLE! Fries were all room temp and lightly seasoned. And the burger was dry as a bone and burnt beyond recognition! It was all tough and unloveable, fam. I should have known better after the group of seated staff members jumped up and scattered as one employee screamed, "KILL IT!" On everything this is a true story, bro. I lie to you not. Tons of great options but service was a little slow for my family. We stopped in at prime lunch hour on Black Friday so I guess that wasn't the smartest idea but we needed sustenance before our movie. I got the French onion soup and fajitas. The soup took about 35 mins and our meals about 55... but all was pretty delicious. My soup had a thick, scrumptious, cheesy layer and lots of onions which was great! The fajitas came out sizzling with all the right fresh fixings (guacamole, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes). I had opted for the trio and the steak, chicken and shrimp were all cooked perfectly! I had some fries from my sisters plate and damn, those were delicious - perfectly crispy and warm (a must order side dish!). Never was able to order any food. I guess I didn't exist to the bartender. I sat down and then her friend came in. She stopped even getting my drink and started getting him what he wanted. Then when she finally brought my unsweetened ice tea over, about 15 minutes after i asked for it. She then asked me if I was ready to order I started giving my order and she just stopped listening and went back to talk to her friend. I left the menu and the tea and walked out . The food is not the best in the area but wanted something different. Learned my lesson. Applebee's is our go-to place, it's always dependable and you know the menu inside and out.... So why a review about a regular place? Our server, Allison, was a young girl who worked her tail off. She was polite, well dressed and so helpful because one person at our table is very picky. She was so patient and took down all the specifics and it came out exactly what they asked for. Details matter.. A server like her is what makes an everyday ..go-to place special. She came back several times, our glasses were refilled, we all got our food at the same time. I will start by saying this is not my first visit here. We've been here probably 10 or so times. Every visit is "ok". We had one visit that was pretty bad, new server, he was struggling bad... we were patient. But it was pretty bad. With no real apology by anyone but the new server. We keep going back because the food is good for the price and there's not many options in the area. Well, today I stopped in by myself to grab a quick lunch that wasn't fast food. Waited a good 7 or 8 minutes before I was even greeted, and then another 2-3 minutes before someone came and sat me. Was asked if I was OK with using the QR code menu, which I am. I don't like it, but whatever I get the reasoning for restaurants using it. What I don't like about it is that you're forced to stare at your phone to look at what you want, so your server never comes back because they can't tell if you're actually done looking at the menu or just playing on your phone. People have a tendency of just playing on their phone while they are sitting in a restaurant, especially by themselves. I purposely put my phone down and looked up for my server, as to not prolong the process. Another good five or 10 minutes later still nobody coming to take my order. This is a good 20 minutes of being in a restaurant with no food ordered. If this was any indication on how long my food would take, I don't have time for that. It's lunch. I got up and walked out. There was maybe 10 tables in the entire restaurant. No reason for the service to be this bad/slow. read more

Lunchtime sit down options aren't that plentiful and I'm not a big pan of Eat'n Park. Anyway, went here with hubby and my MIL and sat down to lunch. Service was very prompt and efficient. We ordered a few things from salad to pasta dishes and they were all decent. Is this gourmet? Certainly not, but its decent food and good service. My family frequents this restaurant. We were actually just there tonight. We are always happy with our experience. If there is an issue, which lets face it, every restaurant will have mistakes. They are always sure to make up for it. The wait staff are kind and attentive, the bathrooms are always clean and stocked, and the food is always delicious. I enjoy order the build your own appetizers pick 3. Since I am vegitarian, this is a tasty choice for me. My husband and daughter prefer steak most visits and they are always pleased. The mashed potatoes are so delicious, I usually end up eating half of my husbands. I would recommend Apple Bees in Monaca as a great choice for a family dinner spot. read more

I'm still stuck with those Christmas gift cards Dad bought me, which means I am also stuck in a chain restaurant rut, which means I've been forced to make poor dining decisions of late. Bob Evans closes at 9pm. So, to Applebee's it was since we were both starving and were beginning to turn into werewolves (full moon last night!). I didn't have a gift card for Applebee's. Ugh. Hey, we were boxed in here, y'know? We decided to partake in that 2 For $20 deal they advertise, but our waitress (and a good one she is) Nicole G. told us about the Clam Chowder, so we each got that first. Meh. The clams were rubbery, the broth was too thick, and the whole affair tasted suspiciously canned as the laughter you hear during any CBS sitcom these days. But we were hunnngrayyy... If you watch the annoying commercials, you know the deal; 1 App, 2 entrees, 20 bucks. We got the obligatory, cheesy Spinach & Artichoke dip, and it isn't cheesy in a good way or even a keytar way. The artichoke tasted like broccoli. Someone must think we're dumb. Ugh, this had to have been reheated. The accompanying chips and salsa were decent, however. For some reason this was better at the one in Beaver Falls. For the entree, I chose the Provolone Stuffed Meatballs with Fettuccine since it looked and sounded intriguing. Yet, it tasted like watching Lawrence Welk reruns; bland. There was this big hollowed out portion of each meatball that only told me that some machine is making the meatballs, injecting them with (I can only hope) provolone, and then sticking them in a cryogenic chamber until service. This is why tech frightens me a smidgeon. What's next, android chefs that don't need to eat, sleep, make bowel movements, or pay rent? I bet if I had dropped one of the meatballs on the floor, it would have bounced! The pasta? Passable. I loved the strawberry lemonade (even though it tasted a bit like Kool-Aid) and Kay's chocolate mousse shooter. As I alluded to earlier, the service was fine as well. But I dunno man, if "there's no place like the neighborhood" then that neighborhood is goin' down the commode. Hell, there's already guys sitting the street corners with bottles of booze in their hands. People are movin' out. *gasp* I gotta use up these gift cards. I still have 3 left. Well, I wish I could give them a good review because i do like their food. One star is for lack of communication. Part of the fault is on DoorDash also. I ordered through their website because it said delivery was available, it does not state that it is through DoorDash. An hour goes by so I decide to call the restaurant, I get put on hold and no one ever comes back. After 10 minutes I hung up and called again. Finally someone answers and tells me my food was cooked and was just sitting there getting cold because DoorDash was down at the moment, to which I asked why they didn't think to contact me to see if I still wanted the food. Of course there was not a straight answer so I asked to cancel my order. She told me I had to go through the website to cancel. I go back to the website and there is no where to cancel an order. I'm getting frustrated now. I call back and talk to the manager, flustered and unsure how to refund me, he states he will take care of it. An hour later, after the first initial hour, DoorDash texts me and tells me they are on their way to get my food. My food was expected to arrive at 7:30, the text did not come in until 8:30. I'm glad I canceled! My 2 hour cold food would have been a disappointment, but mostly I can't believe they'd send food out like that. I've eaten here a lot, every time with an empty stomach, and every time hoping and praying that my meal will be better than last time. It never is. The menu is very appetizing (speaking of appetizers, the boneless wings are great), but the entrees themselves are tasteless. Aside from the appetizers, the menu is pretty much devoid of flavor. I have 0 complaints about the service, we never wait to get drinks, orders taken, refills, food, anything. They're friendly and punctual. Applebee's bills itself as the neighborhood bar and grill, but I'd expect a few more events at my neighborhood bar. Maybe I'm just not visiting at the right times... I like the atmosphere, the music is good, there are plenty of TV's for Steelers/Pirates/Pens games, and there are posters, t-shirts, and other memorabilia from every college and a few high schools in the area. I guess I should have expected it - I am not sure why I believe Applebee's is the Ponderosa / Sizzler of the Steak Chains. The service was great while my meal was bland. One visit at this time. Place is clean, maintained, and adequately staffed. Greeted and served quickly. Basic "Applebee" food which is to say hearty portions. Coffee was unending and routinely refreshed (which is nice). Pie desserts are excellent -- one might start with a pie dessert and see how one's appetite goes. We usually eat at Applebee's 3-4 times a month , today is the first time we have been there since they changed the menu. The portion sizes were very small, they looked like a kids meal to me. The service was slow, but on a Saturday night that's pretty much anywhere so that wasn't much of an issue. As the portion sizes, We aren't huge eaters, but we finished our 2 for 25 and there was still room to eat more, which never happens. The food didn't taste that great either. Needless to say , we will be finding another place to eat for the money we spend at Applebee's. We enjoyed applebees while it lasted, and I'm sure many regulars will agree! read more

Not worth the price anymore. Went for the unlimited shrimp only to be told that"they don't have it anymore". Watching a basketball game and they changed all of the TV's to hockey! Asked them to put the basketball back on and they put something else on (not basketball) I'm sorry but $50+ for three people for basically bar food is too expensive.
