I was in town for work and stopped by Primanti for a Pittsburgh classic!! I went with the capicola and cheese sandwich, which paired great with an IC light. Excellent matchup between the Steelers and Texans last night!! I wish the outcome was different but I loved watching the game at my favorite Pittsburgh sports bar, Primanti Bros. As advertised, cowboy hats were banned... just a nice crowd of hopeful Steelers fans. There are tv's literally every where you sit so that you can watch the game from the bar or a table. Service stinks at the bar when Valerie is working. A walking dead Gen Z-type who never cracks a smile or follows up on anything. She has one speed, which a tortoise could easily beat. The day manager is just as useless & was behind the bar several time & never asked if we wanted refills but was too busy surfing on his phone. What can I say about the Pitts-Burger that hasn't already been said. One of the greatest sandwiches in the US. Whenever I am in the Pittsburgh area this is a must have. I did a takeout order and it was ready when I arrived. Great service and while I did not stay in the restaurant the ambience of a sports bar is on point. The sandwich lives up to the hype with the Cole slaw adding the crunch tandoori tartness that pulls the sandwich together. Only wish the cut it. First the pretzel. I love love love soft pretzels. As soon as the good came to the car, I opened the pretzel box to steal a quick bite! Yeah so it was cold, hard and seemed stale. Strike one. When I got home, I put the pretzel aside thinking I would steam it back to life at some point. The sandwiches. There was no sauce. At all. And I ordered extra on the side. We live about eight minutes away from this location, so I have been there a ton since it opened. On Sunday, we were watching football all day and just wanted some pizza. We decided to try takeout and ordered a large plain pizza. I was a little surprised that the pizza was over $18.00, but I appreciated how nice the girl on the phone was and how quickly my pizza came out when I got there. It was around dinner time, and my wait was only 20 minutes. The sad thing is when I got home the pizza just tasted old. It seemed like the dough or even the whole pizza was made hours in advance. Tea was served but he failed to bring the VERY FIRST THING I ORDERED!!They no longer have the Monongahela Mary on the menu so my wife got a regular bloody Mary. No pickle, no horseradish, no woster, no jalapeños, and not spicy at all(even though she ordered it spicy). The pretzel was way over cooked and to hard to bit into. (SEE PIC) . Wife's pizza was burned on the bottom and close to unedible. My slices were good. As I am writing this, I haven't seen my waiter for about 15 minutes. His name is Dan. Dan needs some additional training in my honest opinion. He had the personality of a wet bag of cement. I am raising the server a 1 star, and the food a three for an overall rating of 2 stars. Went here for dinner and it took over a hour and 15 minutes to get our food. We ordered "two" sandwiches and when they arrived not only were they cold, it was majority bread and one slice of meat. Had a very disappointing visit to this location. We went to Primanti Bros last Saturday, due to an email I had received last week, for a BOGO sandwich coupon, as well as an ad for $10 64oz pitcher of beer During Game Days. First they wouldn't honor the $10 64oz pitcher of beer on a Saturday. They said it is only valid on Sundays, even though the ad states "Whether you bleed black and gold, need to cheer your alma mater, or just love football on TV". There were numerous college games playing on the in-house TV's as we discussed this with our server. She then asked the bartender, who said "No!". We then asked for a Manager. The gentleman that approached our table didn't appear to be a manager and really had no interest in hearing our concern. He wouldn't make eye contact and kept looking down the aisle when responding to us (thought that was odd behavior). He also said the deal is only on Sundays. I showed him the ad on the primantibros.com website. He said "that is put out by corporate and has nothing to do with us!" After we kept pressing the issue, he then said they would honor the $10 deal. A few moments later we then proceeded to place our food order, wanting to use the BOGO sandwich coupon. We wanted one PB Reuben and one classic Pastrami & Cheese, expecting to receive the lower priced classic Pastrami & Cheese free. Our server said we couldn't use the deal on the Tall Boy sandwiches. Made no sense to us. We weren't trying to get another TB sandwich free. Instead of talking to the Manager yet again, we just ordered another Original classic (Roast Beef & Cheese). Still getting the lower priced sandwich free. There would have been no difference on the first sandwich that we paid full price. Friends and co-workers have repeatedly told me that I should try this restaurant. After all the hype, I must admit my experience was a letdown. Nothing about the restaurant or food stood out. Saying it was average might be a bit generous. I was greeted and seated right away. The server was pleasant and there was little wait time between being seated and ordering. The food also arrived quickly once I made the order. I opted for a slice of pizza and a sandwich. The pizza served was not what I ordered but some missing toppings weren't a big deal. About 40 percent of it was the crust. The portions with cheese and sauce were pretty much flavorless. I also ordered a Reuben sandwich. The portion size was generous. There was plenty of corned beef included with the sandwich, but it was bland at best. Any flavor must have been cooked out of it. The only pop/flavor in the entire sandwich was the dressing. I just recently purchased corned beef from the deli at Walmart and it has more flavoring than what this meal had. I opted for the fires on the side instead of on the sandwich, but they were nothing special either. Perhaps I picked a bad time or maybe I would have had a better experience at another location. I've been here multiple times with my family and each time the service is great and so is the food! I love the ambiance of the place, as they decorate the walls with Pittsburgh memorabilia. I tend to get the Pitts-Burger, and it's always delicious. The burger is filling while not being overbearing on my stomach. It's juicy and savory. Just look at the photos -- it looks too good not to eat. It is a pretty hefty burger (not something I can just grab and bite into), so the knife does come in handy. I also occasionally pair it with tater tots. Not exactly sure what kind of tater tots I ordered, but they taste and look great. The first time, my husband and I enjoyed a very yummy meal in their great sports bar atmosphere with pleasant efficient service. My second experience was with contactless delivery to my hotel room. I had been put on hold by a different restaurant and could hear them taking care of multiple people in the background. Feeling undervalued by said restaurant, I decided to hang up and call Primanti Bros. The person who took my order was friendly and took good care of me. I loved their soft pretzel (big enough to share) and a big chicken tender salad that fed me into the next day. I called for takeout for 20 boneless chicken wings. Half Smokey bbq/half hot ranch. Easy, right? The girl taking my order sounded like she had the phone in her pocket. I repeatedly kept saying I couldn't hear her. When I finally could hear her, my order confused her tremendously for some reason. She was just not understanding. She asked me 5 times what kind of chicken and then put someone else on the phone to take my order. After all of that for 20 wings, I said I had a coupon for a free app to use and I was told they don't have a button for that so I couldn't use it or I'd have to order online to use it (which it does not state that in the coupon code text) Geez. Next time I will use the app if I ever get food from there again. I thought about the app code some more and decided to call back and ask for a manager, which came to no surprise to me that I couldn't even get one on the phone.
