Awful awful service. Maybe it was just the waiter that day, but when we went in, the place was not busy at all. My co-workers and I (five or six people in total) ordered appetizers before getting our main dishes. The waiter did not clear even ONCE (he was serving MAYBE 3 tables, and we had very staggered orders). We literally stacked all of our plates and trays in the middle in a huge pile to make room for the next set -- and it took forever for our orders to come out. One of my friends even snapped a picture of the mess. I've never seen anything so ridiculous at a restaurant. The food itself was "meh" to terrible. One guy was really grossed out because his burger was burned to the point that it was crunchy. That was the last time I went to Applebees. This particular one in East Greenbush is lovingly known as "craplebees" around my workplace. read more

I've not been to Applebees in 15 years probably. There is a store about 1 mile from my house, that I have never visited. Today, July 17, 2013, my roommate and I decided to head there for lunch. I was hesitant, because I just never liked the food much in the past. Small portions, huge plates, etc. Today, it was a good experience. Our server showing up was a bit slow, but she was there for us when we needed her. We both had the bacon cheeseburger w/ fries. The burger was really well constructed, and the fries were good, too. No complaints about the food. The one hiccup I had with the store is the music. It was too loud, especially at noon when at least 50% of the tables that had people in them were people over 60 years old. Second, the speakers were horrible. They were blown out or just cheap (despite the Bose emblem on them). It was distorted, distracting, and unnecessary. Turn it up at dinner time - understood. But at lunch, where your crowd (at least in this area) are golden years suburbanites, change it up a bit, turn it down, and change out some crappy speakers (namely in the section to the left when you walk in, along the windows on the west side). I'm giving it 3 stars because of the loud music, but mainly because I've not been there much at all in the past 15 years, so my experience(s) is/are next to none sans today's visit. I've listed the price range as cheap because our burgers were $9.79 w/ fries, no including drinks or tax or tip. Entrees are a bit more, but not over $20 (approx). read more

This is the second time in two weeks I have done car side to go. I'm not very happy. They told me 15 min both times. I gave them about 25 min just in case. Well both times I've gone to get my food. I've waiting about 20 min each time for someone to ever realize I was there . not good customer service food is great but that is ridiculous. We used to love going here. Tori our bartender and Mark the manager made you feel like family. Unfortunately they are both gone after 12 plus years of service. Also gone is the quality of the food. My steak was super small and charred. Mark used to check to see how everything was. It appears no one cares anymore. Terrible service I've been waiting for 30 minutes. This place is stupid i have not gotten my food waiting forever

This will be my second time and maybe my last time commenting on this place. I am not sure what is wrong with them. We got seated right away. The waitress came over, took our drink order, and everything seemed ok. Two minutes later the drinks came, but not my beer. That took about 5 minutes. Understanding since it was a Friday evening (not busy). Then we our Everyone orders there food. My wife and I order the 2 for $25. I ordered a steak medium, mashed potatoes, green beans and a salad for an appetizer. Salad came out on time but took a while for the entrees to come out. So I proceeded to cut the steak as I always do, straight down the center. The steak was not medium, it was medium well. The mashed potatoes was glazed over (under heat lamp to long) green beans was room temperature (heat lamp temperature) so I sent it back and asked the waitress to warm them up. The manager brought back my plate a few minutes later with new potatoes and green beans but same steak. I then was telling him about the meal, but he even said that it was glazed over but wanted me to eat what he brought back instead of just fixing a new plate all together and still insisted, almost, that I eat what he bought back for me. He did say that they are fixing me a new plate. (So why did he bring me the same steak, new potatoes, green beans? Just fix me a new plate to begin with) Did I mentioned that it was not busy? In the meantime, our waitress seemed as she did not care. Although, my second beer came out within 2 minutes of me ordering it......think about that one. 1st beer (was not refreshing or had zero head) 2nd beer (tasted refreshing and had head on it). Seriously one of the worst experiences EVER. My brother decided he wanted to eat here for his 15th birthday. We had to wait to be seated, which wasn't so horrible until a party of two Caucasian women were given priority in seating. We got the table they didn't want (which was right at the door), the waitress barely acknowledged us. We had to ask for plates and napkins when our appetizers arrived. She never stopped to ask if we were ok, or needed anything. When the food finally arrived, the order was cold and wrong! We informed the manager that we would not be eating the food and were leaving. He apologized and gave us a gift card for the mishap. But I do not see myself going there in the near future. read more

I must that I was very impressed with the food all across the board. Ordered beef wontons, and they were great! VERY TASTEFUL sauce. Ordered double crunch wings, and they were double crunched just like they were suppose to be. I ordered a pasta bowl and that was good as well. Very pleased with the food all across the board. Applebees is famous for bad food but a good atmosphere. I stopped ordering from them for 3 reasons. 1) I really never saw a burger that was not burnt to a crisp or barely warm. 2) I paid the extra $2 for onion rings, and I got 3 total onion rings. 3. Not 8 or 9. 3. 3) It seems the only people happy to be there are the bartenders, but they just want to get you drunk so you spend more money. All in all, there are much better places to go to when it comes to food. read more

Awful. Just awful! I ordered a meal that I had had luck with before but this time that I ordered it, it was so gross that I couldn't even eat it. It wasn't fresh chicken on my plate, it was chicken that was prepared earlier and heated up for my dish. Being in the restaurant world for the last 20+ years, I can tell the difference. My male friend that I was with got a steak and said it was okay, but nothing exciting. We tried the car side to go last night and not only was the service terrible, but so was the food we ordered. Awful. Just awful. My friend and I chose to meet and eat here. The girl at the front door was a complete ditz and was unaware of anything going on around her. Our waiter was not friendly and unable to interact appropriately. My friend ordered a lemonade. Ten minutes later he had to ask where his lemonade was. He ordered the quesadilla burger; he said it was average at best. Also, the fries were very salty. I got the three cheese chicken penne; what a joke. You would be better off zapping some Barilla in the microwave. The chicken is precooked; if you want to eat leather you'll love it. I asked the waiter of the chicken was supposed to be freezing, and he was unable to answer the question. He took it back to microwave it for me. This place is awful; go to Red Robin or Pepper Jacks in Albany. Don't waste your money here. read more

We stopped in here on a Saturday while traveling to Saratoga/ Malta New York on the way to our hotel to get a bite to eat. We got there around 4 p.m. right before the dinner rush. The weather was very nasty so it would be great ways to get off. We love Applebee's so we know what the menu, know what to expect and what kind of food we like. The restaurant was a little chilly inside and it was ice cold out and raining so I gave it a little warmer. Our server brought the drinks & the food but forgot to bring silverware. Then it started to get crowded as we were leaving and it was in the restaurant so I'll be asleep but a lot of the people in the restaurant were there with their children and was very loud and using inappropriate language in front of their children. In that shopping center there's other restaurants and tons of store so we actually needed to pick up some things and we stopped in the Target there. Great access off the highway so easy to get on and off. read more

The 5-star rating isn't about the food.. ehh, it's just Applebee's. The stars are for our top notch service! Our waitress was named Autumn and Applebee's should be proud to have her on staff. I felt like we were in a 5 star restaurant. She was attentive and preempted all of our dinner needs. We never had to once request anything or call her over because something was empty. I write this review because I was pleasantly surprised with our service, not just middle-of-the-road satisfied as is often the case anywhere these days. Good customer service is of a dying breed. If you're going to Applebee's, request Autumn. Everything is just better when the service is good. read more

I haven't been to an Applebees in years but there were seven of us staying over in the area and needed something close to our hotel. Luckily we were able to score a large table on a Saturday evening with no waiting. Yeah, that does say something. The reason I'm writing this is because we had the most fantastic young woman as our waitress. Brittany told us that she had recently started work here, yet she was a pro. Attentive, friendly, worked very hard to keep our diverse group happy. If she didn't know the answer, like did they carry a certain liquor, she would get the answer right away. More like what you'd expect at a high end restaurant in Manhattan. Sir or Madame Applebees manager- if you're reading this review, do whatever you can to retain this employee. She makes your restaurant better. Brittany-if you're reading this review, take it to a high end restaurant in Albany and apply for a position where you can earn some really good tips. Thank you so much for making our evening very nice. We were all raving about how great your service was. I hope our tip reflected that. Now to the food..... Very much what one would expect at Applebees. Not great, not horrible. My baby back ribs were tough and dry. Others thought their meals were "ok". Menu is somewhat upgraded from what I remember. I'd give the food 3 stars at best and our service 5 stars+ so an overall 4 stars. If you're going there soon, ask for Brittany. Don't wait too long. We don't expect her to be there long. read more

I took myself out to lunch yesterday. I was thinking a sub but thought hmm I have never been to APPLEBEE'S for lunch maybe I will try and see what their lunch menu looks like. I was seated quickly, and the hostess stated that my server would be with me shortly. My ONLY complaint which I am not docking in my review took a few minutes more than I would have liked. After looking over the menu I decided on a burger and if you like burgers man you are going to enjoy yourself. I was informed there are two options on the how it is cooked, (PINK or NO PINK). I do not like my burgers well done so I said I would like mine pink. The burger was cooked perfectly and was complemented by the SAMUEL ADAMS COLD SNAP I ordered. My server checked on me a couple of times to see if I needed anything. I truly enjoyed my lunch and will certainly be back for lunch again. read more

Honestly the food quality and quantity was horrible, it used to be more and it use to be good food, but when we got one of the dishes it looked like someone just scrapped left overs off another dish onto ours. The "chefs" dont care anymore it seems. Im not one to be like this so it takes a lot for me to be aggravated at a restaurant. I ate here a few days ago with my grandmother and I loved it. The waiter was very nice and constantly checked on us. I had the boneless wings with Asian sauce and they were delicious. We also had the Cedar grilled lemon chicken and it was good as well. The portion size was definitely small. We usually get Carry-Out but we dined-in this time because we wondered if the portions were larger if you dined-in and they weren't. read more

I do not like Applebee's at all anymore. It is my absolute least favorite restaurant. My husbands food came on a metal tray like a tv dinner or prison tray. It's like feeding people out of a metal trough and the paper they slapped it on was all greasy. So unappetizing. Whats wrong with a glass dish. Who ever came up with this idea was an idiot at best. If it had been served to me I would have refused it. I wouldn't feed my cats off those nasty looking things. Since the menu has changed the food is unappetizing. Smaller menu. Our waitress was very attentive I give her 5 stars. We live very close to the North Greenbush location but will not be going back again. I love Applebees. I come in with family and some friends and everyone from the greeters to the waiters and waitresses to the managers when they come out are always very nice. I tend to order the same Chicken strip basket and fries, so I can not really rate the food but I can tell you that the chicken is great. My family and friends tend to order a bigger variety of foods and tell me that what ever they order is great. So for me that is a 5 star review and would recommend this restaurant to anyone!!!! read more

Had an incident when they first opened (a broken toothpick in my burger -- which wasn't apologized for at all) so hadn't been back until last night. Was mistakenly drawn in by their ad for "tender and delicious" steak. Husband and I had two different meals but both with steak. Neither of us was happy with the tough, chewy meat. I have gone to this Applebee's 3 or 4 times for lunch because it is close to my office. For the most part the food is ok, if you get it. The time before the last time we were there we waited over fifty minutes for our lunch. The waitress apologized several times saying that they were short staffed. We did stick it out this time because the waitress was kept coming to our table apologizing and refilling our drinks, showing us good customer service. We eventually got our food and the manager gave us free desert for the inconvenience. Still was not real happy with the resolution. We figured we would try it again two weeks ago. We waited for over an hour, several tables that came in after us received their food one even finished and left. The table next to us came in after us and got their food kept talking to us about how they could not believe that we have not gotten our food and we had been waiting way to long and need to speak to the manager. We could tell that the waitress was avoiding us; she would look the other way when walking by our table and would go out of her way to talk to the other tables to avoid us. When she couldn't, she would say your food would be right out. At about fifty minutes after ordering our food we were able to get her attention I told her this is absolutely ridiculous. She said let me check in the kitchen, again after a long wait she finally came out of the kitchen once again ignoring us and going over to three other tables then finally realized she had no choice but to talk to us. She came over and said the manager was finishing up our meals and was coming right out to talk to us and would do something for us. We waited another five minutes, now waiting over an hour (by the way we and most people only get a hour for lunch) because I was already late getting back to work we just walked out, never getting any food, apologies, or seeing the manager. Unfortunately the girl at the front door had to hear our anger on the way out when she told us to have a good day. I will never go back hear again which is to bad because I have gone to several other Applebee's for dinner and lunch and have never had a problem. They need to fire this waitress and get more help in the kitchen. read more
