I love restaurants but what I dislike the most about them is the unneeded wastefulness. Why restaurants need to give plastic utensils with every takeout meal is beyond me. Which is why I'm always excited when a takeout place gives you the option to select "no utensils". Alas every single time I order takeout, juniors ignores the no utensils request and gives me more plastic waste I don't know what to do with. My friends and I came here to watch a game and this place is definitely fun for that! Theres plenty of screens and we were sat promptly. However, the food and service was lacking a bit. Our order of drinks and food was gotten wrong a handful of times and I found that the dessert pretzels tasted rather burnt. My friends found their meal alright. They do have a pretty large menu and have other bar food so there's other things to try but overall, this place is fun to watch games with friends and grab a drink but I'd probably choose elsewhere to grab a meal beforehand. read more

Came here on a Sunday early afternoon for lunch with friends before catch a train back to NYC. This spot had only two waitresses on staff to serve this enormous restaurant, which is quite ridiculous. Just waiting to be seated took about 5 minutes alone. Once we saw how long it was going to take to catch our waitress to place our order, we immediately asked for the check once all of our food came out because I was definitely going to miss that train if I didn't. We were looking for a place to eat for St. Patrick's Day and we hear that Juniors had the best burgers. Well they weee not kidding! Big thick juicy burger with very crispy and delicious fries! The bun was very fresh. Because it was St Patrick's day some people in our group got the corn beef and cabbage dinner. That also was very good. Extra star for serving Downeast Cider on tap. The group seating is ample, but best inside. Outdoor seating was very pleasant and well attended. We came back with a large group and sat inside. The timing and pace of the food was spot on and everyone was happy with their dish. They should have the Yankee games playing on more TVs. I had to squint and Bob my head to catch the score. My first visit to juniors was pretty good. Inside is clean, attractive, TVs everywhere playing an array of sports, and a couple playing food network, which I appreciated. I got there about 25 minutes prior to my dining partner. The bar was packed on arrival at 5pm with men winding down from work. Seems like a great sports bar for that. Otherwise the dining area was open. Very respectable draft list. Many options, local and far, IPAs and stouts, seasonal favorites. Something for everyone! They had great happy hour specials until 6:30 which is a good time frame. Although the onion petals were not on the happy hour specials list, we opted to get those. They were a little spicy, freshly fried, good crunchy batter. They have decent wings, crispy, meaty, probably fresh. They were less juicy than I prefer but, decent. They have a lot of different wing sauces. Most were hard to figure out what they were so I had the waitress run down all of them. By the sounds of them, they are mostly sweet. I opted for medium wings with a side of their 'famous' moonshine sauce. The moonshine was mostly honey mustard. Blue cheese was ok, not homemade unfortunately, but not the worst. My friend had the seitan wings, bbq, she enjoyed them although she said they seemed like veggies burgers cut in half. Loved the sauce though. Service was friendly and nice. She did forget to bring more blue cheese, but hey, sh*t happens. I also saved 5 wings from my meal to take to go, forgot them on the table, turned around in 3 minutes flat, and they were thrown out. Dang. They did replace them for me quickly, which was very nice and rounded my 3 star rating to a 4. Overall, good experience. First off--the service was great. The portions were huge. But I wasn't a fan of the food--it could have been my order. We started with calamari that was tasty, if a bit salty. Then my partner got fish fry which was very good. My roast beef sandwich minus the cheese and aioli on the side was meh. Maybe I could have used more sautéed onions? I don't know. The French fries were those super fried crispy ones which I'm not super fond of--I like to taste my potato and not just crunch into fried breading. Burger tasted like it was hand made not prefabricated patty. Mac and cheese was delicious too. Simple thing about all their food was how hit it arrived! Within the past couple of weeks, I discovered a place on Madison Avenue, called Juniors. Quite a nice place with a patio. Who doesn't want to eat or drink alfresco with this glorious summer nights. The bartenders are very skilled and very kind. I met a few friends there and I must say it is a pretty great place. It is owned by the group who own Cafe Madison, Serata and the Pourhouse. Last evening I didn't feel like cooking, so I ordered a chicken sandwich with bacon, aioli, and an avocado. Delicious is all I can say. Took half of the sandwich home. It is a very friendly neighborhood bar with great food and drinks. The names of the people are Kai, Jen, Javier and Kim. Thee people are extremely talented and very pleasant. Juniors keeps taking down my negative reviews, I don't know how but every few months the review is taken down. I was charged for items I did not order. I told the waitress that my party (two of us) had 2 drinks each, and we split one order of wings. We we charged for 7 drinks total, wings, and a chicken wrap. I was told "it's on your bill you have to pay for it but I can have the manager check the camera tomorrow and if you didn't receive the food we will refund your credit card" Next day I call, manager tells me they will look at the video and call me back. They call back and proceed to say, yes you ordered all that and ate it all. I asked to go in and look at the video footage, but I was told that I'm not allowed to. Thieves with mediocre food. Went for wing night. Even on wing night, the wings were a little pricey. But, I am use to South Carolina prices so.... Two things I really liked.. you can order all drums and they make them "well done" or crispy. They did that well. I ordered the wings "hot"... they had a kick but they were not as hot as the chart on the menu would lead most to believe. So, don't get scared off give them a try. The wings were good... not great. I expected the pickles to be small bite size slices but instead they were the same wedges used for burgers, just fried. The pickles were extremely salty and slimy while the batter did not provide a strong enough contrast to balance the salty overload. I strongly do not recommend. Mac n cheese bites- Decent mac n cheese bites. They tasted like fried bunches of Kraft mac n cheese, so they are in no way gourmet but it's still a satisfying amount of grease and carbs. Chicken tenders- These were excellent but very small pieces of chicken. I enjoyed the ranch and horseradish dipping sauces I chose alongside. Fried Onions- Greasy but well seasoned. First time ordering food from Junior the menu has a lot to offer. I ordered the beyond burger with the sweet potato fries. The burger came on a big bun avocado with pico gallo. The beyond patty was good just need something I'm not sure what maybe sauce or a topping then it would have been a five. My family loved their food they got the classic burgers, jack Daniels burger and whiskey wings and they say it all was so flavorful. All of the food was served in big portions which was awesome pricing was also great. I would definitely order food from here again. read more

I have ordered from Junior's probably 10-15 times. There are 3 in the Albany NY area. East Greenbush, Albany, and Guilderland. All of them are very inconsistent. Sometimes the wings are perfect. Pizza is good. Last night I ordered $160 of wings and pizza from Guilderland. Terrible! Barely any sauce on wings and undercooked!!!! I made sure to mark Crispy on order. Pizza was poor. Cheese was hard on top. Like a slab. I am sad to say I probably won't go back. $16O bucks down the toilet. This was take out. I have been inside on a few occasions and it was good. Junior's used to be one of my favorite bars on the strip when I was in college. We passed by yesterday and decided to stop by for lunch. Business was steady and service was alright. Food came out fast and was pretty good and a decent size (see photos)! Normal menu is fine, but the $10 lunch menu needs some work and more sandwich selections. We ordered the Rooster and Blue Jay Sandwiches, both good but needed more sauce. Now the bad... The entire place smelled like an old towel and stale beer; bad enough for us to want to eat fast and leave. If we weren't as hungry as we were, we would have walked out as soon as we sat down. Everything was very dirty and sticky and looked like they hadn't been cleaned up from the night before. Bathrooms were a mess and had no towels or toilet paper. If my rating were based on just the food, I would give it 4 stars; my overall experience, 3 stars. It's a shame to see such a good bar going down-hill. read more

I've been going to Juniors for years and years. They recently expanded into the now defunct Mahars (may they Rest In Peace) and renovated nicely. They now have a much larger and roomier bar area as a result which is nicely segregated from the seated booth area for the less bar crawl more sit and chat crowd. The separation is nice because it provides a little bit of a dampener to the noise level and makes it more possible to talk when you are seated. Gone are the monitors with video games at each table that used to serve the same function as our modern cell phones but there are still some dart boards by the bathrooms (which are well maintained and clean) and a juke box that you can link to and pay with your tunes app to play music of your choice. There are plenty of tv screens in the bar and seated area and during sports season the bar is of course very busy and full of college kids and young urban professionals. Though during off peak times you can see a variety of folks coming by from kids to older families with children. The selection of beers and mixed drinks is pretty standard (one thing I miss about Mahars!) though they do have some signature drinks like the "Bark at the Moon" Bloody Mary and sometimes a micro brew from a beer you don't ever see in a Super Bowl commercial. However, I don't like the bark at the moon mixed drink very much. It uses their moonshine wing sauce instead of just tomato juice, a pickled egg for the garnish (I believe that is the moon you are meant to woof at) and a giant pepper. The whole thing is served in a mason jar and really quite bitter and so far removed from what a Bloody Mary usually tastes like I think they should have considered calling it something like a "puckered goose egg" or something. In any case, one thing their moonshine sauce is NEVER wasted on is their delicious wings! The moonshine sauce on their wings is really good. In fact I would argue it is some of the best sauce in the area. The only knock against them is the wings are not as meaty and juicy as I would like them to be. So the sauce is excellent and slathered on less than ideal meat. Still, their wings are really good and so are their nachos. When it comes to the staples of a good bar such as wings, nachos, beer, darts, clean bathrooms, good service and decent tv for sports nights, Juniors has all the ingredients you need to have a good night. I recommend them and their luscious moonshine wings. read more

This is a great spot for drinks! Loved it here when I lived nearby. I used to go often for a cocktail or two and some snack type foods. Kind of miss living in the neighborhood so I could just walk down there and grab something when I wanted. This is a good neighborhood in Albany with most things you need in walking distance.
