When we arrived we were seated quickly. It was cold inside because all the fans were on, but it was hot and muggy outside and they were expecting a crowd that evening. By the end of the meal they had turned them down, and it was then pleasant. The place was dark and loud with people, and surrounded by televisions. Essentially, they are a sports bar and don't pretend to be anything else. Having visited once earlier in the year during a wing tasting tour, I knew they had great wings and so we decided to come back. During the tour an adjacent table had ordered the mozz. sticks so I also knew I was getting them. When they arrived they were excessive in size and flavor. The menu calls them mozz. "logs," but "bricks" would be a more apt characterization. The cheese held together and wasn't stringy, but the thin outer shell of breadcrumbs were flavored well with garlic and herbs. The side sauce was much thicker than the marinara it claimed to be but I really enjoyed it. We used knives and forks to cut them up, and I loved every bite. Though you only get 4 logs, it probably was an entire one pound block of cheese. The wings were ordered crispy with medium Buffalo sauce, and they were excellent. Just what a wing should be. This place won our wing tasting tour and our second trip proved it was no fluke. Their pricing comes out to about $1 a wing, which seems pretty high. All of the staff was very friendly and attentive, though our waitress was dressed and dolled up like a hooker (no joke). Her dress couldn't have been street legal, as there was literally no front to it. If that is your type of thing, you can bump up my review by an additional star. read more

Graney's feels like my safe place in Albany, whether for an afternoon beer, drunk food at 2 am, or catching my favorite sports game. They have different drink specials every night (delineated on a convenient card on each table), will give you a free mini-pitcher on your birthday, and have a million TVs to watch absolutely any sporting event you could wish to. Pro Tip: there's a projector int he front for particularly big/important games, but you usually have to ask them to roll it down/put it on. Trivia is super fun, and winners get.... you guessed it! Gift cards to Graney's. Their food menu is surprisingly good, although it is mostly bar food. The mozzarella logs are my favorite (try the raspberry sauce!!), as well as great wings, spicy tots, and nachos. The only thing I'd advise against are the pizza fries, as they do NOT taste anything like what they are advertised to. With a rough-around-the-edges feel, it's definitely not for everyone. Pretty standard bar food. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good. I think they pride themselves more than anything else on having a lot of TVs and hot waitresses. The place isn't that big so the tables fill up quick. We ended up sitting in a little area off the bar on a big sectional couch with a coffee table completely surrounded by TVs. I think it would be more fair to give 2.5 stars. It honestly wasn't exactly what I expected, but seems more of a bro-ish dive bar/sports pub. On a weekday night past 8pm, there were about 90%guys and 10%gals. There are several TVs within and two electronic dart boards near the back entrance. Beer selection was typical and does not offer much craft selections, but included a few ciders. Service was mediocre possibly due to the fact we only were a party of 2 and there were multiple parties with larger groups. We ordered a few drinks along with the spinach artichoke dip (very flavorful!) and honey mustard wings (celery,carrots,bleu cheese included). The wings were meaty and tender but could use more flavor as I would've preferred more honey mustard coating. In conclusion, if you are looking for typical pub style food and don't mind a louder and more crowded atmosphere this would suffice. We got burgers delivered. Amazing!!! I ordered a ton of stuff and most (which is delicious) will be eaten later. A half pound of Grilled burger. Swiss cheese. Grilled onions. I got one with provolone cheese and onion, lettuce and tomato. We finished those and were so satisfied that we couldn't eat more. They make their own chips. I don't like potato chip, usually. I'm so glad this restaurant has been able to operate during the pandemic. They haven't faltered in a year when most places are just trying to survive. Tonight we went in with just the expectations of some nice fried bar food. The hot wings were perrrrrrfect. Saucy and crispy. The Reuben was a delight. The drinks were tasty and my 5 year old daughter ate ALL her tenders. It was an exceptional night and I'm so glad they've stuck around. read more

So my fiance and I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap and a hot chicken sandwich (it was supposed to come with/marinara sauce and cheese + steak fries). What we got: The first two pictures are of my chicken wrap with raw (yes CLEARLY RAW) chicken included with my wrap. Not necessarily the surprise I wanted to find. The third photo is my fiance's sandwich which came with a dry bun and a piece of charred chicken. No marinara in sight and definitely no cheese. He added BBQ sauce which didn't help much, but that's not really his job anyway to try and make his sandwich better because they failed to provide the correct meal. Also as you can see no steak fries and just chips. So naturally we call the restaurant and explain our concerns and the female who answered was rude and said since we used grubhub to order the food that we need to take it up with them. So your food is raw and it is GrubHubs problem? Which confused GrubHub as well when we called and explained the situation to them next. At the end of it all, GrubHub called the restaurant (twice, they didn't answer the first time) and managed to get us a refund, which obviously shouldn't have been such a hassel, but it was. We will definitely not be ordering from this poorly managed restaurant ever again. At least GrubHub was very proactive in getting us our refund, so kudos to them. If I could give less than a star to this restaurant I would. Here's to hoping I don't get sick. I ate half that wrap before I saw the raw chicken :(. read more

Popped in here with a friend on Tuesday to grab a beer and wings. It was a nice surprise when we got the bill because we had not realized they had a wing special going on for Tuesday's (Wing night). It cost me about 6.50 for 10 wings after the discount. The service was friendly and the interior offered a lot of different seating options which I like. Tables with Chairs, tables with booth benches, high top bar, and even a lounge are with couches. In addition to lots of comfortable places to sit, they also have dart boards which my friend and I took advantage of. My only suggestion would be on the sauces that we had with our wings. We decided to share the Teriyaki and BBQ which we ordered dry with the sauces on the side The wings themselves were really crispy and delicious, but the sauces were not very good. The teriyaki had a very sharp, almost vinegar taste, and the BBQ tasted a bit weird. Overall it was very good and the price was on point so I will be sure to go back, but I hope they reevaluate the types of sauces they use and ill be trying different flavors for round 2. read more

We were a large party, so I can see why she may have been a little stressed out, but it was no excuse for the attitude we experienced throughout our meal. I won't bore you with details, but these were a few things she did: *spills hot sauce on my friend as she brings her meal, looks at it, walks away, NO APOLOGY (bill arrives) I notice she has overcharged me, I tell her. She tells me I'm wrong. I show her the menu with the correct price. She proceeds to *GRAB* the menu from my hands in a loud *SIGH* and says to me "FINE, I'll give you your 50 cents, alright?" Comes back a few minutes later and *THROWS* 2 quarters on the table. "But you owe me $1" She goes back and throws another 2 quarters. *NO APOLOGY FOR OVERCHARGING, AND GIVES ATTITUDE FOR HER MISTAKE* Another friend is waiting for her to take his credit card, and after a while we decide to just go to the bar on our way out to hand her card. My friend asks if he can pay because we need to leave, she gets angry and says "NOW I'M GOING TO TAKE LONGER" ....WOW! Have you ever experienced such bad service? First off: when the law/medical/pharmacy schools are in session, it's definitely a "college bar" if you will. That said, as a law student, I strongly prefer it to Lionheart or Justin's over on Lark. It's one of my Albany standards because it's like a blend between a sports bar and one of the over-crowded, music blaring bars where you have to shout into the ear of the person next to you just to be heard. Lots of TVs, but I would never call this place a straight-up sports bar. The drinks are good, and I've even stopped in for lunch a few times. I've heard others talk about the relative inconsistency in food quality, and I must respectfully dissent. I've never thought the food was bad, considering the prices charged (very cheap!). The wings, burgers and nachos are all above-average, though I haven't ventured much past that. Service can be a little slow when they're busy, but generally it's not too awful. Bottom line: it's a good, cheap bar located proximate to several grad schools that's not overrun with townies. Manage your expectations and you may find you enjoy your time here. read more

Graney's Sports Bar & Grill gives you what you would expect. The facade is somewhat faded storefront. You walk in and there are a plethora of tv's everywhere for easy viewing. The decor is old city funk which you either think is terrible or just fine for an older college style bar. Waitresses are friendly and service is quick. There is a very good selection of beers. There is a wide selection of menu items. The wings are excellent as well as the crispy chicken sandwich, Santa Fe chicken wrap, and fish fry sandwich were all good. I'd pass on the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were good but the sauce had little flavor. Salads were good too. This is a good place to grab a bite especially late. It may not be a modern establishment, but I'll be back for the sports, brews and service. read more

Great local bar. Delicious wings and very attentive wait staff :-) By far, their specialty are the wings. You can create sauce combo's which are amazing. For years a bunch of us have been ordering the amazingly delicious sauce combo of: BBQ, Parmesan, Garlic, and Medium They shake all of the flavors up with the wings and creates the best combination yet. They serve the wings in a large wooden bowl and when they uncover it on your table, the delicious smelling smoke and steam billows out. Try that combo - you will not be disappointed!! read more

I love Graneys. I have come here a couple of times and seriously, LOVED it. The food, vibe, everything has been great. However, I went on Tuesday of this week, and it was a disaster. 45 minutes in, we finally got our appetizer, and it was inedible. Burnt to a crisp. I hate complaining, we sent it back, removed from the bill, etc. Our dinners came so late we had to take it to go, and I went to eat one of the wings I ordered (their wings are AMAZING) and the chicken wasn't even cooked through. When at the restaurant, our Waitress, was great, apologetic, and was kind to take off the appetizer and such on the bill, but I am so disappointed in our meals when we got home. After 20 min the waitress came to inform us it would be another half an hour as they were backed up with Grubhub orders. (The place wasn't that busy either!) Really, we visit all the time and now we take a back seat to Grubhub? I would think they would cater more to patrons visiting their establishment but I guess not. Ok, this place would more stars if I did not have such high expectations for this place. I was told by 3 different sources that this place was a great pick up bar on weekends. Older crowd but friendly and females a plenty. Out of the 7 women at the bar 1/2 were the staff. The other 50 ppl were all guys. I stopped by after the movies and since I was thirsty I took a seat and ordered a Sam Adams. The cute bartender with all the Tattoos was very nice and pleasant. Beer was poured well and I sat back and waited to see what will happen. After a second beer and a lil chit chat with the cute bartender, it was time to roll. I bartenders told me this was a big guy hang out and couples place for older couples. 25-40 old women are few and far between here. Many night the only women are the staff. Now I would love to get to know that Tattoo Lady better. Like me she is not from the area, we have that in common =-). The menu is a standard NY bar menu, Pizza, Burgers, Moz sticks, I did not eat anything but I noticed the prices seemed a little high compared to other places I have been. Layout was simple, and stools were comfortable. I will give them props, they did try and find my Lakers B-Ball game. When they could not they apologized and found the Suns game. Great place to watch the game and have a beer. Beautiful waitstaff and a nice bar atmosphere which can get pretty loud. There are a lot of TV's. The best thing there is the wings, hands down. A good variety of sauces and the option to mix them. They always seem to come out perfect. The other food is so so. Take the burgers for example. I've ordered great burgers from there some days, other days I've almost gotten sick from what I've eaten. Most of the time it is hit or miss. Overall though a good neighborhood bar. read more

While there on a Friday night, it felt a little too meat market-y for my liking. And some stupid girl gave me major attitude for knocking on the restroom door to see if anyone was inside. Needed a cheese burger and beer early afternoon Sunday. Walked through The Fountian which had the bar area packed with what appeared to be a club or reunion of some type, the rest of Fountain was basically empty so I went next door to Graney's. Packed with football fans but found seat at bar. Bartender was very prompt and professional, burger came out as ordered, the standard side of homemade mac salad was good to very good. Generally great crowd watching the games but ( and maybe I'm getting to old to out) one guy went into a redundant f-bomb rant each time his teams defense failed, like every time the Giants got a first down! Seemed to be looking for fight or he is a regular and everyone ignores his schict. But I got the sense that Graney's has a anything goes policy, not sure but the next time I eat here will be mid-day and hope not to encounter ahole's with no self control. read more
