We went on a Wednesday night around 5 and the food was pretty bad. The mashed potatoes were good but the 9 oz steak was rubbery (ordered med rare) and had no taste. The 'top shelf' LIT was mostly ice and I removed all the ice to show the server how much of the LIT was left (1/3). He responded that they get the same complaint all the time but that corporate has set measures and they have to follow the guidelines. The fries for my child were very hard, the 'slider' burgers were over cooked and the spinach dip was served lukewarm and with chunks of unmelted cheese, it didn't taste so great. The pasta dish was over cooked, and the 'perfect margarita' tasted more like store bought mix with a splash of tequila. Certainly not worth the $8.50. The food is cooked without care and they do not use fresh ingredients (vegetables are frozen) and the drinks are very poor. You are better off going to the Arizona Steak house that is a couple of blocks down the street, they know how to properly cook a steak and their bartender actually puts care into the drinks that are made and will make to order. I like the Applebees in NY and NJ, but this one in Simpsonville is run very poorly. The server did remove the LIT from the guest check so at least their customer service isn't as bad as the food. If you do have to go here don't get a steak or cocktails. I don't normally write reviews and I'm not one to complain but holy balls was this bad, so bad I felt compelled to create an account and warn the masses. Update: After filling out the survey (receipt has link) their director Blake reached out to me and personally apologized as well asked what went wrong and offered to send me a certificate, not sure of the amount, but I'm happy to report that they actually care and want to do better. After being in town for a soccer tournament, sitting in the rain all day in 45 degree weather, we just wanted a decent meal and a few drinks. We were sat in Kelsey's section. The service was horrible for several reasons but here are a few. First of all, the food took about 35 minutes to get to the table. Then, when she finally brought us our food, she seemed to forget about us. When she later decided to come back and check on us, we asked her for cocktail sauce which she forgot. We ended up having to ask the manager to bring it to us. Then, we tried to get 2 more drinks and I guess she only heard one. At that point, we were just ready to leave. She brought us the check that was supposed to be separate which we asked her for when we first sat down but it was all together. She waited about 2-3 minutes and came back over to the table to get her pen. We weren't done filling out the receipt but she just stood there looking at us and wouldn't leave until we were done filling it out. I asked her if she was just going to stand over him while he filled it out and she told me "yes cause it's been a long night". Needless to say, the next time we're back in the area, we will definitely not be back to this place. read more

How would you like your steak cooked? Medium well. Will you Check your steak to see if it is cooked to your satisfaction? The steak that sat before me was RAW. The waitress that we had was great. She took the steak back to have it cooked. 30 minutes later after my family had finished eating the waitress said her manager was coming with my steak. The manager finally arrives with a plate of beef Jerky. Is there anything else I can do for you? I know most people have negative attitudes towards chain restaurants, but I am always impressed with our Applebee's in Simpsonville. The service is top notch and fast. The servers are always courteous and friendly. The food is always good and is a great value. I also love their ice cold 33oz draft beers. The mugs are so cold, ice cubes form under them. If your looking for a spot to eat in Simpsonville, don't overlook our local Applebee's. You won't be disappointed. read more

New to the area and having gotten in late, Kim and I were looking for a place we could have a late dinner. We had just finished shopping for her new apartment and found this Applebee's to still be open. This was not the Applebee's as know them in California. This Applebee's seemed like the place to be in Simpsonville. They had live music and they also have a luau coming up. Our waitress was nice, service was a bit slow, but we got our food quickly. First time ever here , and my experience wasn't so great ! Don't get me wrong the food was great but when my girlfriend came out from the bathroom and bunch of employees were blocking the walk way gossiping to each other and then finally acknowledged her walking and had to move the one out of the way because she was to busy talking and not realizing a customer was walking by . We then got our food and I was enjoying watching the olympics then the music went up a little bit , I felt like I was more at a club (and they control it I know because the girls were screaming to each other saying I don't like this one why'd you out this on) then a restaurant! Oh the best part was when my girlfriend and I were eating not even two arm lengths away were four people gossiping right at our table INCLUDING THE MANAGER !! All they did was gossip and stare at my girlfriend and I ! So unprofessional! Of course there was only 4 tables there including us ! My suggestion is if you don't want anybody near you while you are trying to enjoy your food and relax with someone don't go there before 1 !! Go there when it's busy because then the employees will actually be busy doing things and won't have time to gossip right in front of the customers !! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! If there isn't anybody in the restaurant in the first place ask if you can pick the seats (we didn't get to pick) and sit far far away from the kitchen walk ways !! That's where they all stand ! I had hoped the food had improved since my last visit five plus years ago. The service was good. However, the side salad was cold which is usually good except this one was slightly frozen NOT good. There's a large group of regulars who come here and sit at the bar and I'm one of them. The food is pretty typical Applebee's but management has really made an attempt to make this more than just a restaurant. Typically during the day and early evening hours it's a family restaurant but as you get later into the night they've livened it up with trivia and karaoke. There's always someone to talk to at the bar (some a little more talkative than others) and the bartenders are the best in town. The servers are very friendly and helpful and management is constantly on the floor checking to make sure that everything is going smoothly. When I go I usually get either the wedge salad or a bowl of chicken tortilla soup and both are excellent for a small meal. read more

My husband and I hadn't been to Applebee's in a while so decided to go for lunch today. We chose from the pick 2 on the lunch menu. He chose the chicken tortilla soup ( to be honest, he had ordered the black bean and steak soup, but received the chicken tortilla, not a big deal) and 3 cheese cavatapi w/chicken, I had the house salad (w/oriental dressing) and also the 3 cheese cavatapi w/chicken. Yum! It was delicious! We both enjoyed our lunch immensely. The price is great! One suggestion my husband had, was it would have been nice to have some form of bread or crackers. Normally I love Applebee's, but I was disappointed with my experience last night. My friend and I have a tradition where every time we have a girls night we go to Applebee's for dessert and we split the Blue Ribbon Brownie. Last night, we went and ordered waters and the dessert. After our waiter took our order he walked off and started complaining to another waiter about how all we ordered was dessert and water. He was not that far away from our table and talking loudly so we were able to hear him complaining about us. My friend and I stayed a long while at Applebee's just talking and laughing and enjoying our girls night. Around 11:00pm I heard a waitress ask our waiter about his tables he had left. He then proceeded to complain about us again to this waitress about how we were still there. First of all, I know waiters/waitresses don't like it when you just order dessert because they won't get as much of a tip, but business is still business, and my friend and I always still leave a good tip anyway. Secondly, it was late at night, there were no people lined up at the door waiting for tables, it should not have been a big deal that we were still hanging out. And lastly, but most importantly, if you're going to complain about customers, do it quietly or somewhere where they can't hear you. read more

This Applebee's location has really gone to crap!! We have eaten here many times but this time the food was so BAD and the portions are really small and over priced. Ordered the "new" cheeseburger egg roll appetizer, you get 2 1/2 egg rolls for $9.99. The 2 for $25 menu is a joke (same items that used to be 2 for $20). Hubby got the sirloin steak and I got the 1/2 rack baby back ribs with cheese sticks. His steak was maybe 4 ozs. and the ribs that I got were maybe a 1/4 of a rack and so overcooked that they were not fit to eat. Told the server about the ribs and ask for them to be replaced with riblets. When they brought the replacement out there were 2 riblets and a few fries. This Applebee's Ruined My Wife's 60 th Birthday The Waitress Lied And Said She Would Not Put Our Main Course Order In Until We Were Almost Finished With Our Appetizer's they brought out the tacos a few minutes later the boneless wings ate 1 wing and they brought out the main course she took the main course back and 20 minutes later when we said we were ready to order she had it out in a minute cold the Mexican in the booth next to me had her phone on speaker blabbing in Mexican I asked her politely to take it off speaker and was told it wasn't none of my 'fin' business then calls the manager and he did not even ask us what went on but told us to leave or he would call the police who came anyways he did not throw the Mexican out probably here illegally and did not listen to other customers who complained about her this Applebee's has always had poor service i emailed Corporate given case # but never got a response from the manager not surprising Guess I Will Never Go There Again and I will email corporate again to his lack of concern read more
